recorded so please go check that content out today I did I gave out my grades and yes you can do grades grades yes we can do that I think it’d be easy if I said well I’ll just check back in three to four years but that’s unfortunately not the business I’m in I have to I give my grades just like I’ll tell you what I expect out of Teran Arnold’s rookie season I will not say we’ll wait till the end of the season to give this rookie prediction befor it a lot of fun Boer do you think the Detro lines are going to go to the NFC championship game in the Boer path yes I do it’s not hey I’m going to wait till the end of the season to let you know it’s yes they’re going they’re going to the Super Bowl it’s not hey let’s wait let’s wait till the end of the season to tell you no what do do that like that’s literally like something everyone can reflect on everyone I saw a lot of comments saying that like and people are obviously but it’s like yeah I’m gonna give grades based on value the player and where they got the player and really it’s my grade so I’m giving you I’m giving the Lions a grade on what I thought of the player where they took him and what I project him to be it was fun and people loved it so appreciate you for tuning in for that but fellas today we’re going to go through kind of give our I guess now it’s been over the weekend we got to kind of everything got to settle give our reaction now to all the draft selections we’re gonna have Scott Bishoff on the show at 95 he’s a he’s a he’s a show support to the fellas when we ask him to come out he’s gonna come out and break down the uh the draft picks and winners and losers of the NFL draft which we will get to as well before we start with anything fellas how we feeling on this Monday post NFL draft like a million dollars Super Bowl incoming feel feel great the the Boer path is in a very very good spot your fingers I don’t know I’m just I’m over here I’m Juiced up you know I have to lead all of these people here millions of people I’m Juiced up here sure I’m sure Brad Holmes I’m sure Brad Holmes’s fingers are moving and everything too all the time so we’re just working over here there you go well what a weekend though Detroit showed out man breaking records whatnot honestly I lost track of the days dude I felt like from Thursday to Sunday was like the longest days of my life but what a weekend for Detroit they definitely showed out the people did great it’s just awesome to see man oh yeah baby another layer to the Detroit Lions roster another week to break it down can’t wait to do it with the fellas hell yeah the lions are done too sound a lot of undrafted for agents we’ll uh I I’ll pull those up in a second I know we kind of talked about we touched on it yesterday but they did get more so there’s more uh there’s more additions but you mentioned the NFL turnout and I want to play this video because this was the crowd when terion Arnold was selected and this was posted by the Lewis rck yep the the ball that’s Lucas’s uh Lucas’s goat but here look at this video this is when Teran Arnold go wow what a beautiful city that is wild what a beautiful city yeah did you did you see the video too of the um I forgot who who it was I think it was on marol Detroit but it was uh they stopped letting people in and they just walked over and broke down the fence and just overloaded loud or something knocked over the fence just started was that the record I forget they broke it I forget what the record was I think it was 775,000 people and and to be honest I was like telling uh the guys it’s like when I walked into this the thing on Thursday they didn’t even scan my my code so they had no clue I was in there so there had to have been so many more people who just didn’t get their code scanned and then the people who broke down the there had to have been a mill like a million plus people over this weekend downtown if not think about all the people who went and didn’t even get in there was probably millions of people downtown this weekend they shattered the record was like 600,000 before Chicago did it the the sh the Chicago reporter did you guys see this Chicago reporter came out and said uh city of Detroit wasn’t ready for the NFL draft the city of Chicago had the NFL draft two straight years a couple years ago they had like 200,000 people each year combined or 200 wasn’t ready for Detroit they could have had 10 chic go never caught us uh it was funny I was watching uh I was watching Joe Clan today he was he was giving his like winners and losers and he was discuss he was on the desk obviously for day one and two and he was with Charles Davis and he he was in the most professional way describing he’s like it it did smell like uh indulging and I heard M if you say that he put it in a very respectful manner then he said that Charles Davis they were like it was just taken over over the set and Charles Davis was just digging into Pringles and he looked at Joel and Joel’s like you good Charles and he looked at him he’s like these Pringles are so good he’s like I love Charles Davis dud Charles DAV Contact welcome to Detroit like that’s how you welcome the people I mean that’s how you welcome them sorry macaroon people were indulging in the what he said the first national media show I turned on the pat mcavey show it was like the first 30 seconds Pat was just like it’s smells like weed here so he just like straight up was like we we know this is the legal state it was just instantly that was a first thing I turned on I thought of the doc right away and I was like instantly Like Pat doesn’t indulge oh no adits to it loving it I love that yeah and I wantan to I want before we get into actually recap and get kind of giving our reactions to all the draft picks I I do want to go through and look at the U undrafted fre tracker and show you guys this was posted on Pride of Detroit so big shout out to them for for kind of giving the updates here um and I see I see John in there too John says classic I love the doc I can’t wait for Wednesday get get Doc in here man he probably weekend too I’m excited to hear what he has to say but here’s here’s proud of Detroit’s 2024 Detroit Lions udfa tracker and it kind of shows who they’ brought in we we broke this down a little bit yesterday uh gave our our thoughts on who they had I want to get into the kicker James Turner because they did a dress kicker didn’t draft one though but they uh they did they did uh sign a kicker they got Kade Peterson quarterback out of Grandy valy cardal uh they got a run they got a running back it’s really rookie mini camp tryouts though I mean that’s kind of why they’re here H wide receiver Isaiah Williams we broke him down we’re fans of his gave him a ton of money guaranteed so yeah he definitely had a market uh wide receiver Jaylen Calhoun out of Duke uh they brought in tight end Isaac Rex BYU uh Kingsley e GNA butcher that yeah Kingsley we’ll call him from out of Florida I know he had some he had a market too because they where you get Kingsley from is that like his full name it’s his first name first name my bad I was looking at the the last name I I thought you said eiga Kingsley and I was like I’m looking at the end of the last name no K Igan Igan Kingsley IG or one of the two and then you got they gotta say got three centers which stuck out to me three not one not two but three they got Brian Hudson center out of Louisville which I I thought he’d be drafted so that a lot of people are hyping him up yeah he’s he’s huge 65 just a nasty in the Run game dude’s a massive human being so I I Brian Hudson I don’t know what to expect but played at Louisville started at Center so I think that’s that’s an intriguing one I like Duke Clemens too I I like these two I don’t know a lot about Kingsley but I thought he’d be drafted as well I saw him on a lot of uh yeah kind of pre-draft stuff but some centers they brought in uh Edge Isaac uku we talked about him kind of intriguing there Edge Nate Lynn who they met with already talk about him Saturday yep that was someone we kept looking out for in the sixth round but they didn’t end up no he wasn’t even drafted at all linebacker steel Chambers another linebacker Don Gilbert a corner back not Morris Norris but Maurice Norris yeah that’s on me that was on me what a name though I kind of like Morris Norris way better I kind of do too I’m I’m a fan of the Morris Norris whoever said that yeah yeah whoever said that know who did that one safety Lauren Strickland a safety uh chaylen Garns Long Snapper Hogan Haden and kicker James Turner the kicker at Michigan this year at post Jake Moody who they did say they wanted to bring in some compet ition for uh for Mr Michael Badgley and who would have thought before Jake Bates gets signed they brought in James Turner the kicker I do you know James by the way no yeah he’s he’s decent I I we could pull his stats his stats like aren’t I think he might have missed one or two kicks all season long I think he was perfect in extra points yeah maybe three like he was he wasn’t bad at all I think he might have been I could be wrong with this fellas I should have had notes on this I got it full four for six maybe outside of 50 if I remember correctly I think it was four for six so he’s not like terrible the Jake Bates thing by the way he he missed some kicks this weekend I heard I I didn’t watch any of the Michigan Panthers game but I believe he went one for three and missed like a 50 something and a 60 something yarder so he missed two like big time Big kicks interesting goes up must come down sometimes you know hear Jeff what I hate that up down Theory yeah is the up down Theory Y just a law of averages you know it’s if he kept hitting 62 yarders the guy might just come down as the greatest kicker of all time so down lost us a lot of money during the season because of you Jeff I’m just gonna say that well I pitch in my up down Theory it got you into some I I that’s on me I did I was pitching on that I was pitching he hasn’t done it in six weeks he’s doing it this week I swear I do have stats on J Let’s Hear Again J Turner was four for 10 from 50 yards out and his longest kick in four years that was through four years of college where he played at Louisville before he went to Michigan and his longest kick in those four years is 50 yards flat so it’s I was about say I don’t remember him being that great at Michigan but like he did make the ones you know kind of no Jake Moody like badges you know the ones that were kind of given to him but nothing crazy too long by any means a year late um um and this is and this is pro this is more more in a joking way but for whatever reason Brad Holmes so far I know the kicker is a hard position to to kind of figure out but it just seems like it’s just been a lot of mid and it just continues to be mid so I hopefully at some point they’ll get it figured out maybe it’s Jake Bates maybe it’s James Turner who I don’t think will be it will be James Turner I think it’s probably gonna be Michael bad again I wouldn’t have been mad if they drafted a kicker I would not have either I would have liked that to be honest do you think we’re overcritical of Michael Badgley considering the usage that he does get uh no I don’t think so me and Jeff’s point we we broke it down multiple times when you look at some of these like the top five teams in the league they all have like elite elite elite kickers abs like next level dudes and you’re sitting there with Michael badget whether if like he’s gone to different teams and he’s never turned into anything it has nothing to do with him being underutilized in the Lions he’s gone to other teams has been cut from other teams it’s just like we just want to our point would just love to have like that and like here’s Michael Badgley just an average NFL kicker we would like to have the kicker up here that every single top team in the NFL right now has we would like to take that and I know it’s like a position you want that Matt gay sure yes or that uh I’m I’m trying to think I don’t know why I’m drawing so many blanks right now Justin Tucker throughout the greatest kicker of all time yeah anything I mean I I made that it’s I mean you look at the teams in the playoffs the allons were the like terms of kicker they were way down here and the people who defend this guy like he doesn’t go to the other teams and gets cut every other week fine kicker for the Indianapolis Colts Boon he was a fine kicker for the Colts who well this this comment is probably Bon J’s is probably spoton there’s going to be someone cut camp and that’s who they’re going to bring in that’s for sure it’s kind of the only option at this point unless Jake Bates is the savior which like I don’t know we’ll see but yeah it’s uh the only thing people when you bring up and I know I talk with Adam about this but when you when you say well Bach’s not that bad the thing is like the argument is like well do they even trust him like that there’s like that is the volume of kicks not there because they don’t want him to attempt him because they know what he is like there’s that too I don’t there’s you don’t really know all I know is when he gets opportunities rarely does by the way which I think is a little of both I think it’s a little of You Know Dan Campbell being aggressive also Michael Badgley just stinks he’s mid if you don’t want me to be aggressive there he’s mid so they definitely got an upgrade I’m not mad they didn’t draft one prer Christian mahogany I I think ja what yeah he is a Jag yeah absolutely just a guess fine it’s what he is but you saw the kickers get drafted I mean will rker Cam little speaking of the Jags they drafted Cam little uh from Arkansas who’s a good kicker I know etn that’s my guy he just uh Josh cardi he’s a ram where did raker go again didn’t he go to the Vikings um yeah Vikings Minnesota yep rer they in the division so we’ll get to see how good he is well scary they got I just wanted it’s an amazing to be the development when you talk about the kicker here in Detroit the people who are like oh my gosh oh my gosh why are you going at like Frank Boer you come be smart what are we doing it’s like you just can’t you can look at the kicker and say hey is not the best in the world I don’t know why lions fans protect Badu with their lives yeah that it’s a it’s it’s quite a Hill die on crazy thing it’s a crazy thing it’s a wild well speaking you brought up the NFC North which we’ll we’ll kind of get to later in terms of the draft but I I I do before we get into the actual draft can you just look at this for me because this I brought this up on the show a while ago about really what it’s going to look like in the NFC North and here it is um with just the youth now and this isn’t a knock at golf but it’s just it’s just interesting to see it like it now golf is the oldest by what is that nine year oh no not nine years because that’d be JJ uh seven years um the next closest would be kalea Williams in 2001 but now golf’s the old man what 29 four years oh yeah 1998 yeah sorry I’m looking at 2001 yeah lock in over there brother Lo in I I went to JJ to Caleb and Miss Jordan yeah know you’re right four years so four years bias over there uh no no I’m not I went JJ first so that comment is not true definitely not towards JJ uh but hey a lot of Youth in this Division and I do think guys I’ll say it right now before we get to it later I think the NFC North is going to be the best division uh in probably a year or so I think the best division in football especially skill positions definitely skill positions yeah I could see it I think the AFC West especially when Harbaugh gets good give them a run for their money AFC North will still be there but I don’t think that’s an ignorant take whatsoever especially not only the the skill positions but the quarterback play if all these quarterbacks they’re pretty they’re in very good situations I don’t think there’s a bad quarterback situation in the NFC North and the defenses outside of Minnesota are pretty solid and they just got Dallas turn and they’re trying to improve that um so I I don’t think that’s an outrageous take whatsoever it’s probably I think because of the QBs and the coaching staff obviously outside of Chicago I think every coach in the NFC North has some good coordinators and they’re pretty set up for Success so I think it’s going to be long-term success really for most of the NFC North yeah I mean it’ll probably be the the toughest division in the next two or three years once these quarterbacks like once JJ gets going once Caleb Gets going and then once Jordan love gets his full like full force and and then once you resign Jared G to that extension and he’s going and you have a team around him it’s going to be the toughest division in probably you already saw last year the the Packers who weren’t supposed to make the playoffs make the playoffs and beat the Cowboys on the road and that was just out of nowhere now you’re in the future now you’re looking at it more now you’re adding the number one draft pick and you’re you’re adding the JJ to that Vikings team with the those weapons it’s going to be scary and the Vikings and the Packers both both address defense too in this draft which was like a big question second that was the big question mark to where I was like and and I think Packers fans love what they did Tom grai probably loved what they did in that second round there so it’s got it’s getting scary here you’re G to see for the next couple years you’re going to hit a certain point to where every year there’s going to be three teams from this division in the playoffs every single year yeah I want to say something before Jeff goes on I know what he’s about to comment uh that Packers first round pick Jordan Morgan like he was kind of like rated like a second round guy bill bich was like really high on him on the pat mcafe show and said that it wasn’t a reach by any means and that he’s one of the better tackles that were in the draft so like we kind of overreacted at first when we were doing the draft and we were thinking about Tom and whatnot but that might that pick might pan out when you I mean there was a lot of people that were giving him his flowers and whatnot so all I will say is this the Packers needed a corner very badly they still do and they I guarantee thought oh Dallas is picking in front of us they got they got got Trayvon Diggs and Don Bland we’re about to let terion Arnold fall right into our laps because if you’re looking at Jordan Morgan or terion Arnold especially how heavily defensively they drafted you’re taking terion Arnold every time so Jordan Morgan that’s cute but he’s not gonna be no he’s nowhere near David bakari it’s all I gotta say and Bill and I’m not calling you out Gentry but with with this but Bill bich you go back and you look at his recent draft prospects and who he’s taking outside of Co strange who was a reach by all means he’s a solid Center but bill bich as of lately drafts been missing yeah no that’s fair I I was going to bring that up too and bakari has been injured I feel like every game or every season rather so I mean but yeah I I do agree belich hasn’t had good drafts by any means anytime recently so that’s the goat but in terms of personnel that’s not his that yeah no it’s not really his strong suo I do like Jordan Morgan though but uh we’ll see I mean Terrell discussing the NFC North I love man he he holds me accountable we’ve been we’ve been going at it for for years now he says you only think that because of your unfounded notion that Caleb Williams is going to be some kind of God he’s gonna be a boss I’ve been telling you that since you’re at the old Network goell that’s my guy Terrell Terell talk to him Terrell let him know how about that Jeff no he’s not but I I here here but here’s the thing though char No no he’s not but here’s the thing I I’ll go I’ll one up you all right and this is the reality of the division you’re in which is honestly a good thing because you know competition it it as competition continues to to grow here you get tested and I think the lions are a team that can handle that test I do but the NFC North man I think they might have three teams compete for the playoffs I think the Bears are going to be in that conversation they might fall short at the end but I I predict they’ll win and whatever their over under is I’m sure it’s like eight and a half or whatever take the under what huh you’re taking the under take the take it oh playoffs take the no I I think they’ll win nine games and I think they eight games with Justin Fields they won eight games with Justin fields and almost beat the Lions twice so I’m just saying I’m not saying they’re gonna sweep the Lions but I’m saying they’re gonna be better than people I know it’s [ __ ] the Bears they stink but like for being honest Bears they got better you know like they they they got better I don’t know if Swift can stay healthy it’s probably my the worst addition they had and they paid him but I I think the NFC North they’ll have two teams that make the playoffs but three that contend all the way until the end I think I’ll I’ll I’ll stand on the business give me all the Bears unders let me check what it is real quick give me the unders it’s eight and a half under it’s plus 100 for that give me the under let’s see what make the playoffs is uh Chicago Bears where we at there to not make the playoffs minus 114 Hammer that I don’t care I’ll stand on it I did it last summer and guess how that worked out out for me everyone told me Boer Justin Fields is going to be an MVP candidate he’s going to be great this defense got built up Matt E is going to get better they they finally have everything working here in in Chicago things are starting to happen they got DJ Moore all right woohoo let me see it I would I would rather I would rather be on the wrong side I would rather say no and sit there and stand on that and then next year I have to you know eat my words then sit here all offseason like the last three years that we’ve heard from Chicago fans and people in Chicago that they’re just oh we’re just better we’re better we’re better again Caleb Williams yes great talent still a rookie Fair mat E I won’t fall and I told you this Jeff and I told Adam this too because we had this conversation off air I told Adam I said I will will not back the Bears ever until Matt Eber flu is fired I will not say that they’re going to turn a corner until Matt Eber flu is out out of Chicago I don’t care what OC they have I don’t care what DC they have I don’t care if Ryan po is doing well until Matt eberl is out there I have no faith in that football team of franchise bro the the crazy part is if Matt Eber wins like 10 games and the Bears win the playoffs hypothetically he’s GNA be a coach of the year candidate oh for sure I’m gonna have to really take a step back you’re gonna see Matt E I’m not saying he’s gonna win it but he’ll be in that top five for sure he’ll get a vote or two he might win it Chicago Bears have been so bad dude might why why would you say that why would you say he might win it I don’t understand because I thought Dan Campbell should have won it last year doing the playoffs and doing what he did if if said they’re not gonna make they’re not gonna be close well they’re not going to but if they do what Lucas has just said buddy I don’t like m to beir the Bears will be I do have some ODS for you fellas Matt Eber flu is third highest odds to be coach of the year at plus third High behind who they’re only only in front of him he’s tied with jonath Ganon him and those two are tied for third number two is Raheem Morris and number one is Jim so I’ll take J Jim’s locking that up probably give me Jim I’ll take Jim give me Jim Jonathan Ganon that is wild those two both 14 all added you might as well do Cornelius Johnson offensive Rookie of the Year over there in LA baby it’s going brenon rice sprinkle little Salt Bay on that oh Cornelius Johnson hey they got hey hey the other wide receiver they drafted Boon come on Brandon rice yeah do they have a nice little one of those guys has to work right one ofad and lad lad too man weapons weapons weapons weapons Johnson will be a fine Gunner on their punt team he’ll be a fine Gunner we’ll see they’re gonna find a way to get him involved dude who’s OC again Shane who charges the charges Oh I thought you were saying the Bears uh uh it was the Greg Roman yeah Greg Roman how yeah ra former Ravens OC good dude he actually was Jim’s OC back with the 49ers then went over there yeah Frank Gore offense baby yep C Kaepernick uh well fellas the draft’s behind us so let’s get into it now it’s Monday Monday overreact ction this is where we kind of give your thoughts now we’ve had time for it to simmer simmer a little bit settle in yeah line straight it up five spots to get terion Arnold all right corner out of Alabama and I it took me probably his just his press conference on top of watching the tape to love him I know that de pressor was just he he reminds me a lot the way he talks this why you have to talk if you’re a corner especially confidence is so key I mean you can you know get a pass break up and then the next snap you get burnt so confidence is everything for especially corners but to hear him talk and to see that video of him as a kid just you know I want to be great so bad you know yelling I want to be great so bad like the mentality he plays with man I love this guy I love I love him and I I think AG once he gets that cornerback room there’s your CB2 very well CB1 by the end of the end of the year if not next year he will certainly guys’s a dog so great think about what happened to this transition from Brian Branch from Bama to the lions with ag and now you’re looking at a terion Arnold coming in first round draft pick coming in with ag from Bama with Sabin Sabin was on the broadcast and obviously he’s getting hyped to man up because he played under him but he said like this is an absolute dude like the Detroit Lions got an absolute guy out of terion Arnold and it’s not just like on the field Jee like you said that mentality as a CB1 to have that you see like guys like sauce the mentality that they have that where they’re like that guy it’s like they’re like a a pop star or a movie star and they’re just like you have to have that mentality to where you’re just an absolute dog and you’re you’re basically just him because you have clot says it all the time that’s like the hardest position of football you have to be able to have the confidence to be able to stand in front of Justin Jefferson and lock him up that’s tough dude and I think terion has it and the way s’s talking like terion wasn’t just like a good football player like he was consistently he and it is the craziest thing but like off the field he was just like a great teammate he was always hanging out with the the guys he was always going over Sab was like he comes to my house every week to play cards like think about a guy like that like that is a Dan Campbell just absolute dude that just loves to just be around football doesn’t want to ever leave football and just wants to keep getting better and better and better I think he’s gonna end up being the CB1 to me terion he’s gonna be an allpro in this league at some point that he is going to be an absolute dog in this league whether it’s you know in three or four years down the line whatever it is when you see a guy with the the mental fortitude like that that dude’s gonna be very very good for this football team I can’t wait to see him play car I cannot wait yeah my favorite quote from his post-draft conference was when he said I I play I pre for the NFL and I play quarterback and I play corner and he’s obviously not playing quarterback out there but it shows you how much he prepares for the game and the quarterback position in my opinion physically is the most difficult position to play in all of sports because your main job is to stop the guy that knows what’s going on in front of you and you have no clue what’s coming so you’re just strictly reacting when you have to analyze that every little step could give off a key to what that wide receiver is running so when you have a corner that’s that young he’s 21 years old he’s younger than me so the fact that he’s that young is that confident is that mature with that amount of talent I think it’s very very hard for not to work into the NFL and he’s a perfect fit in this locker room and I just think he’s going to do everything it takes in order for him to be great to how Jeff was say like he said when he was younger yeah know and uh terion was number three on my most wanted list with quinan coming in at one I think you just went out and you tackled your biggest need obviously he was kind of falling to you but you went out and you secured him and uh AG talked about how he would love to have him now he’s got him your future quarterback one which we are uncertain what happens after this year with Charlton Davis so you get extra security with him and rraw and you really have a whole revamp secondary so I’m not going to go out and say like uh eron Glenn’s on the hot seat but he has a full new R new revamp secondary that he has to go out there and make some noise with now there’s really not excuses like or a get out of jail free card like there was last year for the secondary getting cooked on the stretch there you got legit dudes in that cornerback room and now it’s time to go out and show it do you uh do you see Javon Baker’s quote he said he says get he said get your popcorn I make people in wheelchairs stand up did you see that wild that is wild yeah that’s a bar though yeah that’s a bar and I I think Teran Arnold has that type of swagger not that that wasn’t his quote but it was a hell of a quote but he had some great quotes too like he’s uh he kind of brings that Prime Swag like that corner that corner swag but he’s also really humble I mean he’s got yeah I don’t know if you saw the clip I was watching NFL they do a get to know the rookies um video where they kind of showcase all the rookies and you know um they uh they talk about their experiences and and just getting into the NFL and one thing that terion would do and still has a good relationship with the equipment manager at Alabama a great relationship it’s like his guy and uh he he said I think that the equipment manager told him terion he’s like I don’t know why you treat me so well like you treat me better than I probably deserve to be treated and tron’s like no you treat me better than I deserve to be treated like got that man in Alabama Jersey he told the equipment manager when I get to the NFL I’m giving you my team jersey and like he’s tight with the equipment manager that’s the type of like check human being that the Detroit Lions look for just a great dude man great dude think there’s a fine line between confidence and arrogance and I think terion Arnold is the definition of having confidence but still being a downar human being and being in touch and aware the fact that he’s that aware as a human being and then translates onto the football field I I think too when you when you really do like watch him a lot of these interviews he did this last weekend you see a lot of guys who are arrogant who are like I’m the best there is I’m the best ever I don’t care about winning I’m just the best in the world I’m the best to ever do it and you see a guy like terion who’s like I want a gold jacket and I’m gonna get a gold jacket and I’m gonna do everything it takes but guess what I’m also going to bring a Super Bowl and they brought me here to win a Super Bowl and they brought me here to to be a team guy and he’s just confident in his skills that he’s going to be good enough to make plays and win a Super Bowl and get the the jacket at the same time so I think kind of the the mixture of it I’m I I love terion I I think he’s going to be one of the best players on this defense in the next year or two like once he gets kind of his feet wet and once he gets going if you watch I watch more of I just kept watching his film today and watching some more of his games and he’s just a he’s everywhere he’s a dog he got benched at one point at Alabama he literally he got benched and he said that was my Michael Jordan moment and I’ll never let that happen again and usually when guys go through stuff like that that that switch in your head flips on and he came back and he was one of the best in the country at what he did dude and I I think at some point he’s gonna be in the best one of the best in the league at it and he’s gonna be competing with some dudes he’s gonna be competing with some absolute dogs yeah he will um and and that’s that’s the thing with uh him I mean the NFC North and just the wide receiver competition and and speaking to the corners we’re going to get to Andis R in a second here but Brad spoke on the two corners rookie corners first two draft picks for the uh Detroit Lions and just them competing in Training Camps so uh let’s play Let’s play this clip of Brad Holmes and that just beautiful Dan Campbell Jersey let’s hear what he had to say need one man these guys where we’re at as a roster man if they win a spot and play then they play if they don’t they don’t like I don’t you know you look at the corners like yeah we really like these Corners they’re rookies they’re I don’t know they got to a spot you know but because Carlton Davis has been a proven starter a healthy Emanuel mosy is a proven starter aiek Robertson is appr like these are good players that have been proven Stars that’s made you know I mean like it’s not it’s not just a given you know but they all want to play they’re all wired right but man look and it it it’s good to be there from a roster standpoint you know um you know you get you know if these Corners they play they play they got to Wi a spot and so and that’s for everybody so it’s great to it’s a good feeling to be in a spot where we feel good about the depth we have we feel good about the future we have but um man those guys got to compete and win spots um but I know that we’re a better football team now to take that step M Mike muted there uh I think what he said is spot on obviously but it kind of to where the lions are now and I’m not saying that I don’t want I want you to get this very clear he is not Jeff Auda he is not Jeff Auda but my point being that when the Lions would draft Corners they’d be thrown into a very difficult situation in where and typically listen you draft Corners High you expect them to play obviously Devon Willers played but not everyone can be SAU not everyone can be Withers spoon not everyone can be you know immediately great upon stepping on the turf like it some time and for Terry for Brad to say this I think it speaks to where the lions are now like how they’re handling these players like I think it’s absolutely good because once you throw a player out there and their confidence gets shattered it’s very hard it only it takes a certain individual to kind of bring that confidence back the fact that terion doesn’t have as much pressure I mean he’s just like a 24th overall I mean Lucas we went through the the corners in the 20s typically now all these guys are good I think terion is an exception because of where he fell that list but but at the same time like the pressure is not on him if he was drafted top five I don’t think different pressure and I like he’s in a good situation it’s not even just for Corners though guys like it’s like every every position group on this football team now like when you get like it’s the same thing with like the 49ers now and the Eagles when you get to a certain point in your franchise when you’re just playing really like you have depth and you have the right staff and you have just the right franchise that’s built up now in the culture it helps rookies come in that’s why there’s that point to where like Brad year two year three you see some of these value pieces like at the back end of the draft come in and be successful is because they’ve built such a good such a good culture now to where you come in and now you you’re surrounded by greatness now and you’re surrounded by great players great coaches great everything and it helps these guys kind of get into the league to when years ago with the Lions you bring in rookies who there’s no culture there’s no building blocks built and you just come into something that’s just terrible you’re not it’s it’s like that all around the NFL with bad franchises so I think we’re at the point now with lions with the Detroit Lions where rookies are going to come in and they’re going to be able to be way more successful because there’s that built franchise those building blocks and the foundation is so built up to where it helps these guys kind of do that and Dan’s Dan credit to Brad and Dan because they’re the ones that built it from day one that they they’re the ones that made that happen to where now you bring those guys in and you’re they can they have the opportunity to be great yep yeah no and I think this the competition with this quarterback room is what’s going to take them from good to great no one going to feel safe showing up every practice they’re going to go out there and leave it all because they know there’s a next man guy guy up right behind them that can come in any day and he’s going to be working his tail off to take his spot so I think the motivation that’s going to come uh through the competition is going to really drive this quarterback room to be great because these guys all want to be a part of The Next Step that takes this Lions defense from the top 10 top 15 to top five and when then those guys are dominating the league they want to be a part of it too so the comp comptition is really going to take the next step or be the next step for these guys go from good to great yeah and I think speaking of the competition the one that I think is going to be the wild card I should say the player is going to be meek Robertson because I think terion Arnold not only with his frame but just with his talent I think he’s going to be able to start over aiek but I think aiek and enus rraw that’s going to be a battle that all training camp people are going to love to watch because people I think are going to by default just off the the recency bias kind of put raiken straw there but when you look at amek man I mean he’s coming off a solid season where he was the number one corner and he’s still getting doubted I mean he didn’t sign the biggest contract and now he’s already getting slotted to the quarterback three so I think it when week one comes I think amek Robertson’s going to be somewhere in that starting rotation but then when you have the flexibility where if he goes down if terion goes down if Carlton Davis goes down you can bring raiken straw in I I love the idea of it I think it’s finally gonna let Aaron Glenn in the secondary wise run this geme he’s finally always wanted to because he has The Playmakers to do it I think Aaron Glenn’s always had some good players but as of the last two three seasons he’s got Playmakers which is what he needs to succeed yeah competition raises a level of play if it’s pressure makes diamonds uh and that’s I think what these players at least who they’ve brought in they fit that that type of player I mean look at this line secondary and what it’s kind of turned into I mean you look at who they brought in and Teran Arnold Carlton Davis amek Robertson Brian Branch Kirby Joseph E melano and you look last year you had kindall vildor cam Sutton yeah it just Will Harris was still taking Snaps yeah I mean it’s it’s it’s not the same it’s you still have these guys some some of these guys on the team they’re just never going to see the field now because you just upgraded significantly you’ll never see him now you’re giving AG some more flexibility like that guy up north get ready for lots of dime packages like you got all these DBS that you have to find a way to get on the field and now you got you you got VY who’s playing some safety playing some offense I mean he’s got a little versatility in we’ll get to him but what’s up Mosley talk about Mosley said that yeah but with the dime packages and you look at okay the 49 or not the 49 the Packers they have three or four wide receivers you could throw out there at any time the Minnesota Vikings they have Jordan Addison just Justin Jefferson and TJ Hockinson so they could throw any type of Packers they want offensively out there then you look at the bears oh I don’t know they have Keenan Allen DJ Moore and they just added romad dun so for him to be able to play the dime package especially on third Downs is going to be huge huge because it’s not like he’s being forced to put it there now that can be a strength of this defense and you go back at the last half of the season for the Lions when they were able to run dime and a lot more nickel packages that’s when they got to the that’s when they got to the quarterback so it’s going to be a lot of fun to watch this defense work yeah I mean yeah and I want to get to in a little bit here we’ll we’ll break down NIS rraw because I thought that pick was I I didn’t I didn’t expect him to fall I know we all agreed we weren’t on board with him in the first round yeah we just thought there’d be better players kind of going by Brad’s logic BPA I wasn’t sure if he’d be the best player available in the first round little did we know he was Brad’s second like rated highest rated Corner which again R straw I think the biggest thing with me was the injuries that’s something that kind of turned me off a little bit I was like oh you know he’s dealt with some injuries it’s probably why he fell but this is a guy who was coming out of high school he was I mean he had options um and he certainly could have attended Alabama I know couple corners could have quinan Mitchell had an opportunity stayed at Toledo but Andis rraw in the second round at 29th overall in the second round that’s value that’s that’s that’s great value and now you get again we I’ll bring this up again we talked about it when it was first announced and we have a breakdown video of v r draw and it did really well but you look at the quarterback room although they got depth it’s not long term in there I mean Emanuel Mosley’s not he’s not going to be here long term at least at least my opinion Carlton Davis one year left he’s over 14 million roughly we’ll see how much of it is really broken down but the initial salary is 14 and then you got a Meek Roberts and you sign to a kind of a shorter term deal but that quarterback room you do you did need some young Corners in their first two selections you potentially got your number one number two corner for the future if everything goes right yeah the contracts too with with Carlton Davis we talked about this what was it yesterday or Saturday we had the conversation that and I mean classy and I were talking about that how like how is that going to work out now is Carlton Davis going to get a deal to keep you know while these guys kind of develop I feel like this and you guys can correct me if I’m wrong I feel like the Enis R is it Enis or enus can we can we just confirm en it’s enus I that’s how Brad refers to him if anybody would know this guy’s name outside of like his family be Brad Holmes at this point all right so enus rstar yeah to me it feels like he’s one of those guys if he stays healthy and with all we keep talking about this pressure in The Corner Room who’s going to come out of this with the pressure who’s going to come out of this is CB1 CB2 in the next two or three years I feel like he’s got the talent to where he’s G GNA be the one that comes out at CB2 as long as he stays healthy if he stays healthy that I think that’s what it is because you just got him extremely Great Value he was someone that was getting and that was where all right now we’re getting different PR pronunciations here I’m starting to get a little don’t say that one Boon all right I won’t I won’t I I just I just think though like where you got him we were already the our reaction wasn’t the best because we already had the conversation to where we didn’t want him at 29 we would have rather had someone else at 29 but when you got him where you ended up getting him in the second round I think that’s where the value comes in and if you ended up getting your CB2 of the future in the second round because he fell because of an injury I think that’s very very great for this Lions team especially when you’re saying hey we need to like that is the biggest weakness of our football team last year we need this to of go from here to here for the next season if we want to win a Super Bowl now you have the be this might be the best pressure and the best competition you’re gonna see all around the NFL when it comes to a Corner Room honestly I mean if we break it down with the guys that you have yeah that’s a blood bath in there Boon so whoever come to me it’s just whoever comes out of it which I think he can come out of it being CB2 in a year or two I think there’s like an legit opportunity whoever comes out of it’s going to be so good because there was so much competition to get to where you needed to get to so that’s right I I think I I love the pick I I don’t think Brad even cared about the position I think he just said I’m going BPA here and it just happened to be two corners and for me Brad’s never drafted Corners this high in three years so for him to do that it means that these two guys are absolutely studs so I’m excited to see this compet I cannot wait I can’t wait till training camp to see these guys go yeah I’m pumped and I wasn’t expecting the double down either and that was like partially like our our shock that you seen on the show but I mean you cross off one of your biggest ex X’s as far as weaknesses or you ex off one of your biggest weaknesses and then you kind of look like Jeff said there’s a lot of these guys are on short-term contracts so you can look to these vets you can look at it two ways that they might leave but these guys are going to help groom your young Corners that you did just draft now so maybe that two one to two years you have them is going to be valuable to grooming these Corners that you drafted into your CB1 and CB2 so even though we have might have these guys for a short term they’re still going provide a lot of value into growing your other quarterbacks for the future yeah I like the pick I’m still not in love with it it’s nothing to do with him doubling down at corner it’s just I still am not the biggest fan compared to ter to compared terion and of enus but I mean where you got him at in the second round I think it’s great value I think there’s potentially he could be the cornerback too it’s just with him on the outside I think he will find spots where he struggles when going up against the receivers in this division just because if you watch him there is lapses in his games where he does kind of get lost in in the routes with uh he’s going up against like a technical route Runner but I do think if they move him inside we talk about these nickel and dime packages when these guys start leaving like the meek Robertson if you can move him inside and you let him at 5’11 kind of be that Nickelback and you move Branch to safety if you can’t resign Kirby or iffy that’s where I think the whole plan for for taking double down at corner really comes to fruition so that’s where I think I would fall in love with the pick if they do move him more to a Nickelback I just don’t think he’s ever going to be a guy that’s locking down on the outside I do think it’s good value in the draft though don’t forget too he he was the the top corner on one of the best defenses in college football last last year right like Missouri’s defense in the SEC too so that’s where I do have that faith I I don’t think it’s fair that like CL I don’t know if it’s like to compare him to ter I think teran’s a different level so that’s where I think easier to look at him as CB2 to where he can be like an elite CB2 behind terion of the future yeah and I should I should have put it like when I was saying that I was saying how people love the terion pick and there’s people that love the rake straw pick a little bit more just because of the value and I’m just not like that I still like I like the player in the second round I just don’t love the player if he would have been if we if the Lions would took him in the first round I probably would have been really pissed off so that’s why even second that’s why we that’s why we didn’t like the the r thing from the jump was because there was mock of him going to at 29 and we are so out on that yeah he I love physicality I love his pH physicality but a lot of times with Corners like that when you’re that aggressive it also carry over carries over a coverage and when you’re aggressive you’re going to get burnt a lot of the times especially if you’re going up against the Justin Jefferson of the world so that’s why I’m just not in love with a terion he used to play safety so you know he can smack people but if you watch his film and coverage he’s just fluid he looks like a number one cornerback I don’t think that’s the case with enus and they and luckily they don’t need him to be if all things exactly happened he like Boon say you’ll be your CB2 at best but here’s the thing too I mean you talk about compet ition to kind of go back to that point he gets to face what in practice uh the number one uh one of the best offenses maybe not number one but one of the best certainly and for sure Jameson Williams who you got to be a little physical with but he can make you pay too so there’s going to be a lot of of that those battles in Training Camps so it’ll be nice and in the NFC North I mean if he does see the field this year some receivers out there so dude’s going to mature very early in this league get tested so I’m is I think they have a good you know it again it goes back to what they have around them too the Vets the the defensive line they’re continuing to build he’s in a good situation and like Brad said he’s not asked to go out there right away so I think that also helps but we’ll see what he can turn into the third round pick fellas I like Gan Manu I like this I don’t know what I don’t know what he can be all right I’m not gonna act like I watch British Columbia I’m not gonna sit here and act like I broke down British Columbia film but I did did watch you know some of what he can do against lower level competition I absolutely understand that I do but this guy’s a this guy is a he’s a muler he’s a paver I mean he goes out there and just moves dudes and I and here’s the thing with Manu I I in this he’s not you know maybe not quite what the Eagles have in their offensive line coach which you know you you you talk about what they develop over there it’s uh what do they call it the uh stoutland University I think it is they call it stoutland youu never heard of that yeah that’s the uh Jeff strin who or stoutland the fre the fry Frey U huh yeah it’s stoutland is his is his name not stoutland stoutland U they call it where offensive linemen uh go to Philly and they develop you know because he it’s like his he comes in he works the off comes that’s why McKai beckon just signed there because that’s he was like a main attraction for signing there I think Hank Frey has that type of impact where you bring him in Han Frey he’s like okay what do we got it’s like a doctor he’s like all right what do I gotta fix we got this okay we’ll work this we got this okay I’ll handle it I think Hank Frey can develop him into quite the player I know they they they he had an interview and they he talked about maybe they they have a vision of using him at guard which Maybe he could be a v Tha type where you put him again whatever the the adjustment to the NFL the quickness I get all that but you can’t teach 68 350 with no with no gut he’s got no gut I imagine him and pan you run a you run a screen pass you leak out jir Gibbs even if you don’t even have him at guard you just have him out there as an extra package maybe move him out as an extra tight end like to do a skipper sometimes and you just dump it off to that man you you talk about why why I’m so anti- Nate Wiggins you put Nate Wiggins in front of that man there there ain’t no way they’re doing any DB on Earth unless they’re doing a Denzel a Ward and getting under the tackle slide tackling you’re not getting around that man no continue sorry no he no you’re right he’s a uh he’s a massive human being I like his athleticism jumped high in the vertical ran like a 4849 there’s other teams P athlete at 68 dude the Lions can afford to take a player like this in the fourth round because of how good their roster is and they can develop him in one to two years to be potentially their future guard future tackle and he’s got quite the uh the veterans around him and quite he does one hell of a coaching staff to to work with him so I’m excited for Manu I don’t know I’m not gonna sit here and act like I have a crystal ball I could see him being my l in the future but boy I mean I’ve got a hot take he hereon I think Manu and Christian mahogany are going to end up being starters on this offensive line at some point for the Detroit Lions in the future I think both of them I think this this year they drafted two dudes they knew what they were doing no chance Christian mahogany should have been available in the in the six round no chance and I think this Manu I think once you get him some development I know he played a low level but just at that size like if you can get a guy in an NFL room sitting there for two years just learning under pan Taylor deck or Hank Frey and just learning at that size like imag imagine if he had the skill set in the mind of like a penol at that size he’s a dog and that’s all the next two years next two or three years as you’re gonna probably extend Taylor for a year or two until then you just sit him back there and let that man just learn everything everything and then once you get you can once he’s about to start you extend him after that fourth year and guess what now you have a dude for for a few years and then it’s same thing to me with Christian Mahogany it’s you know that Hey Kevin zitler is not going to be right he’s got he’s on a one-year deal on the other side um Graham Glasgow just signed a three-year deal he’s getting older he’s not going to probably have another contract after that and we know where Frank ragnow is in the Middle with his toe that he could be out any year now you’re starting to have to find guys now in the draft to where in a year or two guess what there’s gonna be people came at me at the end of this weekend saying Boer why are you saying Taylor Decker’s replacement why are you saying some of these guys are going to get replaced it’s going to happen these guys are getting old it’s going to happen there’s going to be turnover I think these are two guys that in potentially you could say are going to be starters and you know obviously you move pen over to the left side and then you put him in the you put him on the right side there and that’s that’s an absolute Duo if I’ve ever heard of one there that is I I think that just a hot take you you left you left kobby Sor doll out of there Boon I think Colby there’s so I think there’s G to be a competition between but then I think I think mahogany is going to be a very very quick no he’s way better than Colby yeah I was say with no disrespect to Colby I think Christian mahogany is just cut from a Different Cloth CL guess what you’re gonna need two guards in a coup dep great for depth I’m just saying why why Christian mahogany he’s no sixth round pick Christian mahogany have been like a third fourth fifth round fifth it doesn’t even make sense he should been a third fourth round pi plus you’re going to need two guards in a couple years not we’re on the same he might see a Kobe aong wronging about three years I three years down the line I’m not talking next year guys because there’s people in our comment section who think we’re talking about this year and it’s one of the most ridiculous things of all time if if Brad sees Colby in even like two years potentially starting he’s like yeah we could do that or I could just sign a guy or I could just draft another guy that probably day one will make more of an impact behind him who’s developing so no same thing like Yodi I just I’m just saying mahogan is gonna be a legit dude he’s physical dra that dirt bag in him got a little bit that dirt bag in him is that a song yeah and they did say earlier on Twitter that he’s viewed as a Right Guard Jeff I don’t know if he brought that up but the guy’s a unit and obviously he’s not too polished yet but there’s no one better for him to learn than Hank fry and behind the be best offensive line in the league so obviously we’re not planning on seeing this guy right away barring obvious viously any injuries to the starters but he’s got the perfect guys to learn from and he’s got one of the best offensive line coaches in in the league so I think the longer his career goes on I think we’re just going to see him get better and better and he’s going to be ready when he’s called upon yeah I mean he’s a he’s a left tackle who if he’s developed be a Right Guard or be right tackle it’s going to be on the right side at least at guard or at right tackle because in the future I mean you you’re paying Pine left tackle money so like that’s your left tackle of in the future but yeah when you’re that big especially when you’re when you’re coming out of British Colombia to adapt at tackle is a whole different level to have to adapt at guard especially the fact that he is athletic that’s 1,000% they playing in my opinion you’re not you’re not trusting that man to block for the franchise money and what you’re about to extend J at golf and in my opinion I don’t think they do that you try him out at guard I think he would excel at that if he does work out and then you try him at tackle maybe due to injury but just because like people in the chat were saying too like is he too big and at tackle yeah may be but at guard guards where you get all your all the dirty work and if you have a man that’s 68 athletic and how how much was he 350 pounds whatever the [ __ ] he was the man’s a fridge the man is a fridge he’s a dude I would love to try and just line up with him real quick just I want to see like what can I do here I don’t even know if he has a percent of body fat I mean he like his cat CS are like the size of my head his C I mean this dude is not he’s not he’s built different and if you start him let’s say the man starts uh at some point let’s just say hypothetically I’m just throwing this out there not that it will happen I don’t think they he’s gonna see the field this year but let’s just say he does and he goes in at guard they get him ready they prep him if they if they can get skip out there and I know Skip’s more seasoned he’s more SK but if they put him in that skip roll you got p oh my gosh dude in Mahogany who’s ever on that right side neutralized they’re neutralized how about we do the the tush push the tush push and just let mahogany push I’ve always said bro put demon under Center and just that’s that’s your jayen Herz demon getting a yard yeah every time every time dude imagine my new wild cat like Boon said you’re not you’re not doing anything do you know who he reminds me of you guys remember that um what’s the movie with Adam Sandler the football movie I was the longest yard the dude break that’s that’s the wrestler he was on WWE when we were younger yeah he reminds me of that’s so funny you were thinking that I literally was thinking the same thing the best line of that movie is he broke it in my not Andre the Giant it’s like it’s the great KH or something like that it wrong he’s he dude he might be close to seven foot too yep that guy got me he’s huge you could just snap the ball to Manu just fall over 68 he will score 6 reach over the he just got to reach over the [ __ ] goal line bro that has to be your your goal line set that has to be if you’re at the one yard line just he needs to be in the game put Skipper at tight end Manu at full at fullback and Monte at halfback and every time you just motion Monte out of there and let him be a little wide receiver to get the corner of safety out empty out the box a little bit you send Manu over the hill that’s what it’s called Manu over the hill yeah ridiculous but fellas they they did draft uh I’m curious what the plan for sonone vaki is the uh I’ll just call him a football player I don’t even know what to call ball player’s just a football player he played uh safety running back when needed him to he had a big game this year had like he’s I think he had two big games I think I I forgot the exact game it was that what team it was but he had like couple carries 60 yards I think he had a game at 100 yards receiving guy’s just a weapon and USC Washington smacking people on uh on defense like he’s a special he’s gonna be one of their best special teamers immediately but you might get a little bit of that vaky some some sets on offense for vy’s touching the ball CU when he has the ball guy can make plays that’s what stood out to me as as a runner he runs like Austin Eckler as once he gets the ball in his hand but and this is a hot take fellas you might hate me for it but I think if you really break it down I think vaky is the best pound-for-pound football player that the line’s drafted in his class if you just look at what he can do and how natural he is I’m not saying he’s going to have the biggest difference but when you look at just pure football players not one player in this can play on all three levels of the team so again he’s not going to put the numbers up like these other guys and have the impact of a quarterback one is terion Arnold but you look at how many play how many rosters can say yeah we have a guy on our roster that can go make plays on all three levels and there’s not that many I think that’s the Jack of all trades and like I said I think what Brad loves about him and why he traded up is because you could say he’s a jack of all trades and master of none but in Brad’s eyes he’s a master of one and that’s just what Jeff was saying earlier it’s being a damn good [ __ ] football player and that’s all this team needs there the only way for this team to mess up in this draft was to just go and get the chop Robinson’s but what did they do they just went and got good football players and that’s what I think vaky is and like I said he’s not the terion Arnold Elite tier guy but just pound-for-pound football player I think he’s the best one in this class yeah I did see Danny Rogers tweeted out too while we were doing the show she it looks like she did a sit down with Brad and talked about vaky um and Holmes basically said he’s like vaky in his Pro or whatever it was went through four different position workouts he was running he was a running back he was out doing receiver work he was doing safety stuff he probably was doing like I don’t know Lineback he did four yeah special teams and then she also said that he called vaky the best special teams player in this entire draft so I think that like shows a lot and especially where they got him a lot of the value charts you saw I think vaky was the one that was the biggest reach but I think they loved him so much like LC said as of football player to where when you say yeah maybe like positionally if you’re just looking at maybe just as a running back or as a safety maybe you could say yeah it was a reach because he’s not like Lucas said he’s not GNA do put up a bunch of numbers but as a football player it’s not a reach because he’s gonna be a this is a guy that is gonna be able to do everything and we had the conversation the other day to where Brad on the press conference said if we wanted to we can put him his running back and we can make him great at that and he’s going to be really good at it and that’s like to where like if you just sit him with Scotty mountgomery and that that running back room for the full offseason imagine how good he can get at it he had multiple games with over 150 to 200 allpurpose yards in the Pack 12 he’s gonna be a dog like an act legit dude this is a guy real quick J before I go this is a guy in high school who had 1300 yards and 20 touchdowns in division one C he was Northern Cal prep player of the year so this is a guy offensively he can play a receiver too if you go back and look at his highlights this year against Washington he took a tunnel screen where he’s lined up wide he was the ex wide receiver just the formation they were in and he took it 60 yards of the house so if there’s ever injury dep of the wide receiver core that’s another guy that you can just plug in there yeah and I’m uh I’m not against the pick I I like him as a weapon and I think they’re going to utilize him on special teams but uh pretty with like the new rules and whatnot my thing is like they weren’t too successful with utilizing jir Gibbs and other players in the screen game and they have jir Gibbs who’s an absolute weapon and they couldn’t even capitalize on that so I’m just curious on how that’s going to work itself out because uh jir Gibbs J Mo these guys are deadly in the screen game not and I’m not necessarily saying take away I don’t want uh like him to get touches and what whatnot but I’m not sure I want to take away touches from those guys in the screen game just like because those guys are deadly and they still haven’t even conquered that Hill yet and getting those guys involved because I’ve seen a lot of screen passes that were nowhere near Gibbs and at his feet and whatnot so I’m not all that confident to just throw a guy out there when you haven’t even gotten your regular guys good with those screen passes and those crazy plays so think situational with him Le think be like this a situational situation to where like yeah you’re not just going to throw him out there to take you know two or three snaps it’s going to be like Ben Johnson’s going to put him in situations like trick plays or you know still have Gibbs out there and somehow get the ball daki and make a play out of I think that’s going to where he’s going to end up being if he ends up making the roster I think he will but I think that’s what it’s going to be and a legit special teams dude what’ll end up happening and I I love him made a great block last year but it’s gonna be Bye by Craig Reynolds I think when Camp rolls around I think that’s what’ll happen because if you ask me who’s a better running back a pure running back pure athlete between Craig Reynolds or vaky I know it’s early to say but I think just athletically you watch what he can do with the ball in his hands I think vaky has a higher ceiling so you let him develop and don’t want him touching anywhere anything close to jir David Montgomery’s touches but there was a game last year against the Tampa Buccaneers both jir and David were out so if you throw vaky in there and that’s how he gets his touches I don’t hate it but at the end of the day I think he does take Craig Reynolds role I could see that was the hardest player for me to grade just on the plan they have for him because I how do you project a guy like that I I don’t I just no hell of a special teams player which I think is going to be one of the biggest reasons why not not I he was going to I think he’s going to make the roster but certainly going to make the roster because he could play special teams and he could play all three phases in general of of of special teams offense and defense he’s gonna make the the roster but to your point logas like better special teamers than he’s a better special team than Craig rolds he might just be a better like you said pure athlete to where he’s just gonna beat him out like that’s just how it goes so I don’t know just get I don’t know this man the more I talk about he just sounds like a myth like he’s just like a myth like you don’t it’s like he exists he’s a it’s just a he’s a special special dude I I’m curious kind of to to Mike’s Point the kind of the plan for because they got a lot of offensive weapons so I I know it’s I I don’t know who I mean I I I I just need to see more of he’s got like a short sample size of getting the football and he makes plays but I just want to see more of it I want to see him utilize more and see what he can do because he’s uh he’s intriguing um they got Makai Wingo defensive tackle at LSU in the sixth round both their sixth round picks to me were easy a pluses or mikai Wingo I my guy here but really really I mean a in general because of the value those both those guys Makai wngo and Christian mahogany both top 100 players and you got him in the sixth round like it’s wild and I get there’s reasons always reasons there’s going to be a question mark or two about either character which I don’t think is mainly the case uh there might be rumors but the Lions do value that so they decide to take a player you know they’ve met with him and they they they have confidence in who he is as a human but as a football player uh yeah Apollo’s R vaki like Jerry Rice mixed with donin Su uh but yeah I mean Makai Wingo defensive tackle Brad talked about he’s got some upside on the edge as well so again there’s versatility there it’s why you’re taking these players he can play on the edge he lines up at defensive tackle and he can get after the quarterback go so that’s that’s kind of your ideal not to play next to whoever starting that nose tackle you got maai Wingo out there for more depth like to me this is bye-bye Levi owns arque for the future welcome in Makai Wingo I I love this draft pick uh he’s uh he plays with that you watch him on tape like Brado he says football character like yeah he checks that box Makai Wingo watch his film dud is an animal dude I I think Wingo I think what’s gonna happen with him I I took out we I did who’s my favorite player in this draft class I take out terion Arnold and rra because I think when you draft round one and two You’re Expecting those guys to be dudes at some point potentially and starters within the future but when you look at this back half and what Brad Holmes has done in the past I’m convinced maai Wingo ends up being like that Kirby Joseph that Aman ra and I’m not saying an all proo player but I’m just saying a guy that comes in and you’re like whoa how did you end up getting him in the sixth round that’s what I mean by that like I I I took Boer notes on this and I I dove deep into him top 100 Prospect guys when you start looking at these dra like when people break down drafts the main thing you see it’s like what is this guy projected to be in the NFL a lot of people before the drafter saying in some point in his future he can be a legit starter in the league because of what he can do not last year but the year before fellas he was the third team All-American defensive lineman played in 13 games 46 tackles six tackles for a losses three sacks then last year he got hurt and he had 25 tackles five tackles for a loss and four and a half sacks fellas this this is a brad Holmes Dan Campbell dude this guy got hurt during the season got back kind of like CJ Garner Johnson did but he came back usually you see guys sit out for the bowl games especially for injured this dude came in and said I’m going to play in the bowl game I’m going to come off an injury and I want to play in the bowl game for these guys for like for my team here and then we also know he wore number 18 which is given to the biggest like the the leader on the football team at LSU so like he is a guy that potentially in the future I think this year and next year you could see him in the rotation on the backend like taking over Levi on zarque because he’s going to come into camp and he’s going to compete like he’s going to be legit in there and he’s going to want to he’s going to want blood and he’s going to want to go out there and prove why he fell and you guys saw his tweet out there I think he can end up in the fact that he’s a little versatile too he’s a little undersized inside yeah he’s he’s undersized that Darius Robinson a little bit he he does and in even inside if you have speed inside a little bit you’re going up against some maybe some slower guards some dudes that can’t not slower guards but you’re going up against some dudes where you can I’m about to make a play on you and if you watch his film in the Run game he’s quick gets off the ball and he’s not letting anything come through him in the Run game too so and if you could throw him on the edge in a different situations there’s a chance this guy like one of the projections I saw said that he could be a three down defensive lineman which when you see that you’re like yes like we just drafted him in the sixth round and they’re saying he can be that in the NFL I sign me up all day think about that you have DJ reer and lie you can you could throw Wingo in there if you need to James Houston Hutch I I love I think this is going to be the best value we’re going to look at him like the Kirby Joseph of a couple years ago to where the Rook his rookie year comes around you’re like oh my gosh how did this guy fall to you he’s making plays on the football field yeah and I think him he’s gonna bring that edge because he certainly didn’t think he was gonna fall and kind of he fits that Brad Holmes esque pick he’s a team captain unfortunately he has battled some injuries but I’m head-to-head with Boer on this one I think this is going to be the steal of the draft we’re going to look back on this one and be like wow this guy has made a great impact for getting him so late and like we always brought up DJ reader is only on a short-term deal you have uh you have to pay a you certainly have to get something figured out with that contract so the quicker this guy progresses is only going to help out our situation on the defensive line and he could make an impact as soon as this year maybe next year where he’s seeing uh the full rotation but I think this is going to be a steal of the pick and right right on Boer I was thinking the exact same thing this is going to be like your iy of this draft yeah and I mean Boer comped him to Aman ra which I I obviously get what you’re saying he’s not going to be at All Pro but you look at Aman ra his his final year at USC dealt with injury was during Co year and most of his production came in one game I believe was against Washington state where he put up four touchdowns in one half so that’s why he dropped I mean you look at Wingo if he doesn’t get hurt he’s probably a third round pick at at the minimum especially because you talk about like Boer brought up he was would have been the leader of that defense at LSU especially on the defensive side of the ball so I I think this will be the steal of the draft and I think you know what else El this means fellas and we already kind of hinted on it bye-bye Levi bye-bye Levi he’s gone he’s gone good riddens good riddens thank you for your time bradick Martin your days are numbered but I I love this pick fellas let’s bring on someone who could provide more insight to who the Lions selected we’re going to discuss some winners and losers of the NFL draft which we’ll get to after Scott and with Scott because I know he’s got some opinions on it please welcome the man the myth the legend Mr Scott Bishoff who joins the show here Detroit Lions and NFL draft Analyst at Detroit Lions podcast.com staff writer at footballguys.com and also has a great show him and Russell Brown Please welcome in Scott bishaw Scott how you doing I’m good how are you guys we’re fired up Scott uh Lions you know had interesting weekend uh they traded up twice in the fourth round got some players got Mr Giovanni Manu out of British Columbia I I was like who and where so we had to kind of do some research but Scott now that we spent so much time covering the draft with you all right players and and and we’ll definitely get to some of these draft selections I know the fellas want to ask you about them can we just start with terion Arnold and and and the L straight up five spots we saw what was it top 14 players were offensive players and then you see Lou latu first defensive player off the board and he’s a hell of a defensive player me and Lucas like him a lot and Boer came along he’s just he’s an incredible player but Brad said it offensive draft what do you make of of the Lions getting terion Arnold in the 20s and only trading up five spots to do so you know um it feels like since Brad Holmes has taken over that for some reason the Lions get get lucky every draft uh the first his first draft it was pen Su being available at seven and then Hutchinson being there at two and you know it just it just feels like things are going the you know off the field it feels like the lions are in a good position they’re getting lucky they did again this year with Arnold being being available it’s hard to believe he was around uh you know in a position where all they had to do is flip a third round pick to go get him it’s kind of a no-brainer um but yeah I mean you know 14 offensive players go it just squeezes all the defensive players down and you know he he fits What eron Glenn wants to do perfectly so it’s it’s a great fit um you know it’s hard to say it was a great pick because it’s such a no-brainer kind of a thing but you know it’s like putting your money on the table playing Blackjack and getting delt Blackjack good job you know so um you know obviously he’s gota he’s got to grow as a player and and become a really good NFL player but as far as a prospect goes for what the Lions do you know he’s it how often do you think and we had this discussion earlier too with just see drafting a corner in general and and you know when you draft a corner in the top five hell even top 10 you expect them early on to you know be your number one corner at least challenge that when you draft someone in the 20s Scott what’s kind of the expectation for someone like terion to come in be maybe your second corner and eventually take that spot over because the Lions have a lot of depth and I think this is a great situation for especially a rookie corner to kind of come into with with kind of vets around him what’s a fair expectation for someone like terion kind of translating right away into the NFL so um it’s a really good question because we you see both ends of the spectrum you see couple years ago Derek Stingley goes third overall to Houston and he you know it’s a rough transition for him and he’s injured and there’s some stuff that that you know just he didn’t play great year two was a lot better um and then a player like s Gardner who went after who went after Stingley just lights it up in year one and has a bit of a I don’t want to say down year but you know he didn’t have the great year like he had as a rookie but that’s kind of that speaks to to the to the the volatility of the position there’s going to be ups there’s going to be Downs you just want to do your best to sort of even all that stuff out it’s nice that the Lions have given him a soft Landing in terms of they’re not forcing him to go to to be Jeff Auda right like all right you need to go out there and lock down other other teams number ones lock them down that’s tough man you know that’s that’s a tough job to do but between Carlton Davis and AMC Robertson and and um and Arnold and you know everybody else in the equation there whatever they choose to do and however they choose to make it work is is good it’s just it’s nice that they’re not forced they’re not forced to have to play him against the Justin Jeffersons of the world but if he plays and and I think Holmes was talking about this if he competes and plays to a level that he placees a player like like Davis as their cornerback one that’s great you know there’s really no negative outcome there where where you think you know all right this is not a good situation for a corner to to to be joining this team it’s kind of the perfect situation so um I don’t know if that answers the question but you know it’s a hard thing to do to to transition quickly as a corner yeah Scott I want to I want to throw this out there too we did have this conversation in the show here uh talking about Giovanni Manu and Christian mahogany and this offensive lineman kind of it felt that now they’re a little more comfortable drafting some depth with that offensive line and we we do know at the Lions that’s like the bread like the heart of this uh this football team is it starts From The Trenches especially on the offense do you see like where do you see the Giovanni Manu I know a lot of people are saying that he was the Hidden Gem of this class and then Christian mahogany falling all the way to the six do you see either of them kind of in the future developing into being a starter on this offensive line or kind of where did you have them um on your board here for the Lions so I think mahogany could play if they can clean up some technical stuff uh and maybe some overaggressive type stuff I think he could play now I meaning I think he could step in I don’t think he’ll start but but if you if you know and we’ve seen it you know injuries come up they happen you need depth I don’t see there’s a reason why he can’t step in and play to a reasonable level as a rookie he’s that good um he’s physically capable he’s big enough you know the way he plays fits them perfectly um he was a steal in round six he just he just was I’m not sure why maybe there was an injury H you know that that forced him to fall a little bit but still we’re we’re danne bugler of the athletic had both he and wingo who I know you guys were talking about in in his top 100 so getting those guys in round is just stealing um as far as Manu goes I know that there’s this there’s a there’s been some talk today about him playing Right Guard um he’s hug I wonder this I wonder if they’re moving oh I’m sorry go ahead no he’s huge that guy is massive and I 68 350 with no gut Scott no gut at all it’s it’s like I’m looking in the mirror [Laughter] buddy just you know one of us is really tall no you know it’s a whole other story uh he is so people are talking about him today about he he opened up and said that the Lions talked about him playing Right Guard in year one or at least that’s where they’re seeing him and I wonder this um I think they I think there is is a push to to get him to the right side of the offensive line I don’t know that it would be reasonable or fair to this kid to just say hey uh we’re going to rep you as a right tackle right away in your career even though you’ve never played on the right side it’s different going from left as as opposed to you know kicking off kicking out you know from the right side of the line of scrimmage it’s just different um you know your footwork is different so a natural couplee uh sort of incremental development there would be let’s rep him as a guard in year one so we can get him kicking off of the inside of his left foot you know um you know just kind of starting his movement that way because right now it’s the opposite he’s he’s kicking off with the inside of his right foot so in year one we’re just sort of naturally transitioning and getting his body comfortable with that and then year two we’re g to make it a bigger you know we’re g to give him more to learn so I don’t I’m not necessarily buying that he’s destined to be a guard I think that there’s uh there’s potential for him to play tackle it’s just going to be incr mental growth and it’s going to be a several year sort of development uh window for him uh the first step is to get him over into the right guard position and getting him you know comfortable with the with uh moving moving out you know with his left foot if that makes sense oh yeah and Scott you came on the show about a month ago and you brought up rake straw pretty much before any of us did and really anyone that I heard about did did you like do you like that pick and did you did you expect him to fall that late um I love the pick I love the way he fits uh with what the Lions and this is this has nothing to do with with the you know his physical makeup or any of that kind of stuff I just like the way he plays um he’ll step up he’ll tackle he’s not you know he’s not afraid to do any of that kind of stuff there were some Corners in this class who I think did not even they didn’t they didn’t necessarily put themselves in position to be drafted by the Lions because they did not want to tackle right so that’s something that you have to do if you’re G to play corner for Aon Glenn but I like the way I like the way he plays Offman coverage more than like I like Arnold up in your face and literally uh you know inside your jersey running routes for you where I I kind of like R straw a little more off where where he can he can flip his hips and run a certain way um he’s really good at that kind of stuff I know he’s slight he’s a little a little smaller Weight Wise than you’d really want but we’re talking I think it was picked 60 was it 61 yeah 60 whatever it was 63 whatever it was um I should know this I think it was 61 but yeah I mean he’s a clear value there it’s just is he is his future as an outside boundary corner or might he perhaps transition to play safety down the road because I think you could be a lights out safety um it’s just uh he just adds he adds depth and competitiveness and all that fire to the room and all of a sudden you know this is a team that was one or two bounces one maybe defensive stop or perhaps even a first down away from being in the Super Bowl and you added and your issues were you had cam Sutton you know trying to lock up other teams number ones and that didn’t go well and you had issues in your in your secondary and Brad Holmes has completely turned that whole thing over and now you have Carl Davis you have um you know AMC Robertson you have these two guys that you just drafted all of a sudden it’s loaded and there’s Talent everywhere uh I don’t think there’s any perfect way for it to play out but it doesn’t matter the best group of players is going to is going to play this is secondarily to this is Brian Branch now I think moves to safety fulltime um which is a good thing so the the r the r straw addition I think is one of those things that that improves two positions with one pick it gives you depth as a as your you know as a boundary Corner um and and playmaking and all that stuff competitiveness all those things but it allows Branch to get more um to find more of a home where where he can make plays and and I think that’s as a in thebox sort of playmaking safety kind of a robber or you know that kind of a position so I mean I love what they did in rounds one and two I think I think they got very clear uh very clear value for what they do and my assumption and it’s just an assumption I don’t know this but if if we were to see the Lions board they probably drafted cornerbacks one and quarterbacks two for what they do which is nuts to think about yeah I think even Brad spoke on that post draft and that’s what he said he’s like we never expected terion or enus to be there but they were the top two corners on our board and both of them when it was time to pick and we felt like we need to move up for terion and to take Enis in the second round they were just there so we took him yeah but a guy that could potentially be joining the secondary with him and I think Scott the most intriguing Prospect in my opinion as far as what he’s goingon to do and I said not he’s not obviously gonna have the impact that terion does he’s never going to be an Elite Corner in my opinion Elite anything but the best pound-for-pound football player in C vaki in my opinion just because what he can do on all three levels what do you think the lines are going to do with him um honestly I think he’s going to be I think he will be their running back three and he’ll be uh more a special teams player than than anything on defense that’s kind of what I think they’ll do he’s really really effective with the ball in his hands um I know he didn’t run a great time but when you look at the the GPS data for him um there were moments where he was in the in the 23 miles per hour last year very very effective with the ball in his hands just very instinctive and it it’s natural for him um so I would expect him to be kind of like backup running back special teams Ace uh if you think about the new the new kickoff the new all the new rules he kind of fits perfectly for that um so that’s kind of where I I mean I think I think he won’t I’m not sure that I I see him playing much on the defensive side of the ball at all it’s more you know running back through special teams and being a really important part of things from in that way and Scott too I want to ask you because we we were going to dive into it in a little bit here but just some winners and losers from the NFL draft I know the the Falcons got a lot of flack for the Michael P not that Michael penck isn’t worth a top 10 selection but more so the fit there I thought the Steelers had a hell of a draft I believe they got your guy Mason McCormack who you did so so pissed I was downtown with my wife when that happened and I and it was like we thought of you immediately we thought of you I was so pissed um it’s a and it’s like irrational it’s like what does it matter what you think you jackass that was your guy though Scott that was that was like me watching Xavier go 32 overall you had us pissed on the live watch party when he went because you had a drain kind of ingrained in our mind that we’re like he’s a lion at some point here I’m sorry I failed yeah it’s okay what about what what what are some of your winners and losers uh just from over the weekend so the Steelers were I think the Steelers had the best draft as you know as an o line guy I mean you look at fatano is gonna play somewhere at a very high level for a long time Zack Frasier I think is has the has the look of a high level Center and then you just throwing in McCormick in there and he’s GNA play guard somewhere and it’s like okay the interior of that offensive line is fixed for a while right like you know um they like to run the ball they’re gonna run they’re going to be able to run the ball maybe not necessarily in year one because it’s it’s always tough but you know in year I would say two years from now the Steelers running game probably will be a pretty damn good running game it just will be whoever the running back is whoever the starting back is two years from now for Pittsburgh it’s probably a good fantasy pick I don’t even know who it will be it don’t matter Jay Warren go ahead I said Jaylen Warren there you go I mean it could be him even this year you know uh the Falcons so it wasn’t just it wasn’t just the penx pick um and I think that there’s a way you could justify the the penck pick in a small in a small way and it’s this I think the Falcons are expecting to get hammered in the tampering thing so for them and I know I know he’s 24 and this is the problem with this argument even as it comes out of my mouth um but let’s let’s just play pretend for a minute the Falcons I don’t know are expecting to have their first round pick next year because of tampering with kurk cousins um if Kirk Cousins plays to a reasonable level of football over the the next two years I don’t think the Falcons are in a situation where’re where they’re going to be able to have a quarterback fall to them that they like it would mean they would have to use serious draft Capital to go to go up and get one let’s say in the event Kurt Cousins just decides I’m done with football kind of thing um penx is right there for them they love him I can understand why they do and if you just if you just throw the idea together that all right we don’t don’t have a first round pick next year because the NFL is going to take it from us and we’re going to be good enough that we’re not going to be in position or we’re not going to draft early enough two years from now let’s take our quarterback now so that way we’re prepared and we can just move on seamlessly when cousins does retire I think that makes more sense and it’s the only thing that makes sense um in that pick now that doesn’t justify why you don’t trade back and try to get something you like you go back to 10 and get a fourth round pick okay that’s cool and you could take him there I think they wanted to stay in front of the Raiders though because it was kind of it was one of those things where I think the Raiders were going to take uh pennx if he were available so I don’t know if that makes any sense or gives you any sense of like okay I can get a I can get behind that a few percent because there’s really no way to get behind that pick all the way um it just was such a strange strange pick but um but it wasn’t just those you know they The Tackle they took early in round two was a reach um it just they had a they had a stra they had an off day they had an off draft the Falcons did um to Scott I want to kind of circle back to the Lions here I I know one of the biggest things and I think a lot of fans were were kind of questioning I if you were to question anything Brad did which is hard too sometimes is the the whole Edge situation in the defensive line thing that you know you came out of this draft with no Edge um so kind of two-part question did you think they should have addressed that and kind of got an edge at some point if there was one available that they missed on um and then also we did speak about the mikai Wingo uh pick there in the sixth round before and I think he ends up being like the Kirby Joseph um of this year to where he ends up being an absolute steal and he he actually gives you some production where do you stand on on mikai Wingo as well kind of the lies bringing him in especially I’m I mean I think he makes the team and I think he gives them some I think he gives us you something that you don’t have which is uh powerful interior uh you know disruption I know Levi can do that kind of stuff but it’s more with his with his quickness where Wingo does it in a different way uh I think he’s much he’s more physical player um he’s he’s smaller he’s six foot and he’s 280 pound 283 pounds but you know he’s got a really good first step he’s got a good get off he’s really good with his hands the nice thing about him as opposed to to enzar so I wouldn’t necessarily think that um his his his draft addition means something negative for for onz is that the that I think the Lions can use him as an edge player at times in certain formations just like they did with LSU because he is quick enough and powerful enough to to collapse the pocket so he can do those kind of things when you go into like NASCAR looks when you know if you want to condense Hutchinson and say Pascal or Kaminsky inside to get more quickness on the interior he could be a player that you would stack on the edge and still you know get enough pass rush there but also some some physicality it’s just an interesting way of doing things so I think I think uh you know he was a really good pick I just don’t I it’s crazy to think that he was there he’s a really good player you can see him FL flash all the time on film all the time he looked like uh a guy who is really difficult to to block because of his hands and his and his ability just to to you know kind of be underneath an offensive lineman’s pads yeah and know Scott the Vikings obviously had a pretty good First round picking up JJ and uh Dallas Turner do you think those guys will be able to pick up the speed fast and fill the shoes of denil Hunter and Kirk Cousins how do you think the Vikings outlook for the next season look why Scott why Dallas Turner I mean okay why was I don’t know that Dallas Turner is Gonna Fill Hunter’s shoes like right I don’t know that he’s gonna do it both in the short term or the long term I just you know I mean danal hunter was is a is a fantastic pass rusher he and he always was um I think uh when I looked at Turner I think I thought Turner was more of a Baltimore Ravens type linebacker outside linebacker like a a guy you’d want to play in a three four uh walked up over the edge kind of like TJ watt type of player um he’s like 245 pounds so you know I mean he’s a good player and yeah I don’t I don’t love I don’t love the way the draft played out as far as being a lions fan I’m I’m not a big fan of what the Bears did you know um I don’t like Caleb Williams and Romo being you know in Chicago I’m not a fan of that Jeff just said that’s the uh next Joe Montana and Jerry r no I did I do hey Scott I do think Caleb’s gonna be a hell of a player I got a lot of flag for that but here it’s a lion show but I can’t deny it’s Scott he’s it’s suddenly gonna be a a division that’s pretty loaded but McCarthy is McCarthy is a he’s a super interesting it seems to be polarizing Prospect I don’t I don’t quite know why uh I would I would gamble I would if I were putting down a little bit of money right now on Rookie of the Year it’d be him just you know and again I don’t know that he’s gonna play like right away I don’t know if he’s gonna beat out darnold he should but that’s the luxury of of where they’re at is that they don’t have to force that so if darnold plays for you know five or six games and then hands the keys over to JJ I think that makes some sense um and then in which case I would not make that bet but you know what I’m saying it’s of all the places he’s the most of all the the quarterbacks he I think he’s the most ready to go um Caleb is an interesting Caleb Williams is gonna be interesting what they do with in Chicago I know he’s gonna play right away and whether they can get things going in a positive direction or not we’ll see but with the other ones you know I don’t know what I would expect Drake May to do in New England um I wouldn’t expect it to be great things and Daniels I think Will Be an Effective Runner but outside of that you know I think JJ is the clear of the four quarterbacks he may be the clear the clear winner I should say the six of the six quarterbacks he might be the clear winner Scott another pick that just made me just like oh like it just hurts to watch and I’m sure you felt very similar on this honestly because of how we stood at wide receivers in the first round and the fact that he went to the 49ers is Ricky Piel now going to Kyle Shanahan in San Francisco what what was your reaction to that it wasn’t a good one I mean it wasn’t he was one of the players I was really really really wanting the Lions to to draft in round two but you know um there was a a question a few minutes ago that I did not answer and I apologize it was about the edge position um we have to remember that free agency is not done I would expect the Lions to be in on wide receiver like a player like Tyler Boyd um I don’t know the names right but there there’s a bunch of of of players available I would think that they’re in the safety Market as well um it would it wouldn’t make sense for any of these receivers or safeties to sign with a team you know on these short deals knowing that a draft was happening and like okay you you know I’m Tyler Boyd and I I just signed with the Bears and the Bears just drafted Romo dones okay well I guess I don’t really have to worry about playing too much this year kind of stuff so right I think that you know there’s a window for the Lions to go adress and go find you know a receiver a safety an edge Defender that can come in and bolster what they already have because that’s really where we are now is we’re just we’re talking about the margins and and getting a little bit of help because that’s what that’s what Holmes and Campbell have done is Tak in four years taking this team from what I would consider was a pretty horrible team post Matt Patricia and Bob Quinn and now you’re looking at you know hey if you want to if you want to be you want to play for a team that’s gonna compete to win the Super Bowl come to Detroit okay it’s crazy think it but that’s where we are Super Bowl champs yeah well that’s where we’re at now and the roster certainly when you got guys are first round picks that might not play it’s a good thing Scott and we appreciate you uh there you go Scott bishof we love having him leg by the way and we always say this we love having guests on that that make us think that Manu point about him playing Right Guard about learning how to adjust to the right side before he gets eventually kicked out the to right tackle because P we already know he’s getting paid top tackle money like he’s gonna be your future left tackle at some point I didn’t even think about that so that it’s a great Point by Scott uh you you could check out more of Scott of course he is doing his thing um of course on Detroit Lions um podcast.com him and Russell Brown who we got to get Russ on I know he’s been a he’s been a busy man you and Russ I I’m Avid listener you guys are crushing and he’s also a staff writer at footballguys.com until next time Scott we appreciate you thank you appreciate Scott on guys you guys be well all right you as well there you go Scott bishof he’s a great guess um I love having him on he yeah he does like again that the Manu point I was like oh yeah perfect sense I mean I I don’t know why I didn’t put the two and two together beforehand but yeah great stuff from him I asked him about winners and losers do you guys have any kind of winners and losers from the draft you think in terms of just their draft class I know we don’t really know much about what the players are going to be yet but it’s okay to have these type of conversations we a lot of great teams and players and drafts is that a thing I mean I’m we’re gonna have we’re gonna definitely judge him uh because that day we’re cont cont I’ll say one of my losers is the Denver Broncos because no one was taking bow Knicks so they should have traded back not getting some sort of capital out of that pick is really dumb and I had two teams on here one of them was the Steelers for all the reasons Scott just talked about they got like three of the best offensive lineman in this draft and that was a big need for them they are going to be set for a long time with those guys and the the second one I wanted to talk about was for our boy uh eten I really like the Rams draft they get fisky and uh verse both from obviously Florida State to try and build their defensive line for the future they scoop up Blake Corum to be a running back duo with uh kyn Williams who’s been great in the pass game and the Rush game and then they get uh Lucas your boy that came on uh he talked about Cameron kitchens the safety and that was actually I think their like fourth pick so they did a lot of good things and crossed off a lot of their needs so I really like I’m not goingon to steal every team but those were my two teams that I really like their draft I think mine I think walkway like they hit a home run was the [ __ ] Washington commanders and I never would have thought I said that but you look at they got Daniels they got Jon Newton they got Mikey Sanders still they got Luke mcaffrey and I know I’m missing another one that I really like but they they cleaned house they cleaned up Johny Newton Johnny Newton bro they they did exactly what they needed to do to put themselves in contention to pass the Dallas Cowboys in like two or three years I think maybe even two did you see hey Jerry Jones did his Allin move he broke the bank for Ezekiel Elliott they’re all in I did see that they’re all in broke the bank but they went back two years that’s their rb1 right now just tough well I I’ll I’ll get to them in a second here I I I think another team that had a is a winner there’s a couple I mean we mentioned the Steelers who I think should be in there um excuse me I think a team that should be mentioned that I don’t think no one’s going to name that’s kind of the route I went like an under the radar team I gotta go with my guy etn Rams yeah the Rams they killed the draft I mean but he it’s Sky’s blue I mean lesne always kills the draft and but they had a first round pick and they used it correctly they took Jared verse uh they love him they took Jared verse Braden Fisk Blake korm Cameron kitchens they got Joshua cardi late um and I I think that was a great one so um I think I think the Rams the Steelers I think another team that like kind of what Scott laid out there their their selections not only do they culturally but they’re damn good football players who they took and you you go through their draft class Troy fanu Zack Frasier Roman Wilson pton Wilson like pton Wilson was a projected first round pick and they got basically Troy fanu Zack Frasier and pton Wilson all guys that were kind of mocked around the first round they got all those guys Mason McCormick um the the Steelers had a freaking they had a hell of a draft as well so those are two easy I mean the commanders had a pretty good draft I know the Eagles did too too I mean but Boon who who the te who who’s the team who’s your winner winner of the draft so far as of right now I mean I think you guys named all of them I think those are all the the biggest winners I had the Steelers commanders Eagles um the Rams down those are the four teams that I had I think the charers the Cardinals I think the Chargers you can say I I think their first three or four picks were really good with joal lad MC traded up and got lad mcon and Junior Coulson I just think I think everyone you guys named there I think those are all legit like winners of this draft you can say I know we’re a lion show here essentially but the Lions probably Big Winners you look at the value board they were the high they had the best value draft um which is what you look for um so that that was be M I love the commanders getting jayen Daniels Jon Newton Mikey and and Luke mcaffrey I thought that was big time for them they needed to do something there and they did it so I know no go on Boon I didn’t mean you’re not going to like this Boon I think the Bears had a hell a draft of course you did that’s an undercover I could I could have told you I could have told you that before they even drafted under they had four they had five picks and one of them was a punter well the punter yeah the punter I I get number one I they didn’t have a pick except for the fifth round which they traded up so I the punter whatever but Austin Booker we love we talked about Austin Booker the Kieran The Tackle out of Yale uh they got so they got a tackle but Caleb and romad dun it’s hard to mess those picks up but still I mean hey those are those are good selections hey I’m trying to be unbiased here but it’s pretty five picks and one of them was a punter I mean yes they were gonna they had two top 10 picks you would hope they got Caleb Williams and romad dun you’re not gonna like you you would hope they didn’t mess that up getting cooked he just loves his you’re gonna be like how flannel is with the that’s how you are going to be with the Bears no I’m just I’m trying to but you can’t wait until they win the division again I hey the the if you want to go there the Vikings got Dallas Turner I thought that was a hell of a pick so Viking a good draft the Vikings did decent I want to ask uh Lucas about this draft did you like baltimores because I thought you brought up uh Roger Rosen Garden they get Nate Wiggins at the end of the first round obviously you’re not a huge fan of him they get Adent Isaac and then they get devontes Walker the wide receiver out of UNC and then they top it off with DJ Tampa was like the fourth or fifth round so they got some they got some dudes and uh I mean it was kind of spread out but they doubled down on corner and they got I mean two of the best you could say even though Tampa did drop Ravens it was a Baltimore Ravens draft that’s for damire and that’s where I had Wiggins mocked at when we were doing our final mocks before the draft I had him going 30th to Baltimore just because he has that Marcus Peters type of build and he had success in Baltimore and I think when you double down with him and Tampa I don’t think it’s NE necessarily uh terion Arnold andake rraw but I mean one of them’s going to hit I I think more likely that’s TJ Tampa long term but then ad diesa Isaac in the second round and then you get Rosen Garden as well I think they had a solid draft I don’t think usually when Baltimore leaving leave is leaving drafts they have like a top five draft and I don’t think that was the case this year but then again they don’t really need to because last year they had a damn good draft and they added a couple pieces through free agency including Derrick Henry gon be [ __ ] monster the Ravens crush the draft that’s actually another one they they great draft they they they they crushed the draft I mean you got two corners that should have been top top 50 picks and then you get Roger Roger rosengarden who I think will he’ll be a starter and then Adisa Isaac and they got the the man the M the legend Devin lery yeah I forgot about that Tyler huntley’s on watch Deon L show it’s L’s QB spot though the way yep step out the way Deon L show uh let’s let’s get to let’s get to Mill well actually let’s go had a great draft as well the Colts [ __ ] cooked the Colts get lot to ad Mitchell I I forgot who they got in the second round but they cooked before we get to mailbag get your questions ready well uh what about some losers Boon you got a loser you got a team you they should all be fired and they should never have a coaching job or a GM job ever in the NFL I just think that’s the dumbest move with they did I mean let me pull their draft up real quick let’s just it makes no sense to me if you’re build if you have a quarterback and you PID the quarterback I get Scott’s Point looking into the future do get that but if you just paid a quarterback what what was it 200 million or something yeah yeah they paid him like 180 and and you do that and you don’t you don’t provide him a weapon you don’t provide him something on the defensive end you don’t you just just an offensive line anything give that man you just paid a quarterback 200 or1 180 million do something for him and you’re not even going to tell him hey we’re going to go quarterback at eight overall I just think that was the dumbest move of all time and um I actually I don’t hate like they got brillan T in the third I’m gonna be honest I like draft I don’t I don’t love it but I’m just in the camp where I I just miss the days of quarterbacks being developed and I think either way and I know Dan olowski said the same thing and people say on ESPN but I I thought the same thing after leaving the draft I didn’t love the pick but winning the NFC South regardless and they got better on the defensive front which is what they needed to do because of the top half of the defense last year a top half of the league they’re GNA be a run first team that’s going to be able to I think finally use Kyle pitch and Drake London how they’re supposed to with Kirk Cousins but kurk cousins is also coming off a torn Achilles we also what happened to to Aaron Rogers last year lit on the first play of the season for them I don’t think that’s going to happen again but over the course of the two years Kurt Cousins has missed Seasons besides the torn Achilles he’s an injury-prone type of quarterback I I don’t hate it just because because I think you’re the more you sit penck with his polished as he already is you give him a little bit of time to kind of f up and tune things if you look at Kirk’s contract it’s like he only in the third year of that contract he’s getting paid $10 million you’re about to win a division and you draft a quarterback in the top 10 that’s just dumb I’m just gonna be honest I how the what if the Lions had an eighth pick and you just won the division and you’re gonna dra the quarterback the NFC South is so shitty though it’s so shitty they got the Panthers Derek Carr is not winning with the Saints anytime soon and the Buccaneers just resigned Baker Mayfield who they’ll be solid but they’re not they’re not the Falcons retires that team’s going what if the Lions drafted a quarterback in the top 10 because Jared go the conference is different and the teams are different no I’ll answer that question if if you you’re not looking to win that conference you’re trying to win a a Super Bowl add a piece they kind of did that with hen hooker though no just a different spot in the third round fourth round go ahead top pick is different from a third round pick won the division or let’s say not even that because the Falcons technically haven’t won the division yet they’re trying to so let’s say it’s a year you expect to win the division and Jared G is what 36 coming off of torn Achilles I wouldn’t be I wouldn’t mind it I’m be honest I wouldn’t mind it because you’re not only planning for now but you’re planning for the future your argument’s fair Boer like that’s why it’s not like a I don’t think you’re wrong I it’s just like for me he’s such a Michael penx is a top 10 pick he’s wored that in my opinion so I don’t hate the where he went to me if you’re competing for a Super Bowl if you want to take that step to the Super Bowl I don’t care if it’s a weak division or not you’re not you’re not in this game to win weak divisions you’re in this game to win Super Bowls and if you have a you just signed a quarterback for $180 million and you’re looking to go win a Super Bowl and win the NFC what are you doing drafting a quarterback at eight overall when there’s Roman dun there there’s big time pieces that you could sit there and say this could this could be a big piece of a Super Bowl winning team but they’re not gonna be picking top 10 anytime soon too they won’t but exactly but if you can get a piece to Wi the Super Bowl and have a chance to do that I just don’tk and I think they know that too like Kirk cin why’ you pay him $180 million then because that’s it right there again my point fire the GM you don’t pay a quarterback $180 million if you don’t think you can win a Super Bowl I think the owner especially I I can’t think of his name off the top of my head um regardless the yeah Arthur Blank he’s been watching Desmond Ritter for the last two years he says go get me an actual quarterback and that’s a quarterback that’s going to win divisions and can potentially win you a playoff game or two so it’s going to keep your job and they had the money to go and do so and I think he’s going to bring you more success than trading for Justin Fields but the NFL today to have that you got to pay the top tier money I get the point booner but I just think long term whenever you let a quarterback develop it tends to work out when they have a lot of talent and I think in the NFL today think it’s going to work out I just think it was dumb because you’re trying to win Super Bowls I don’t care how bad the division I don’t think any any player in the top 10 there helps them win a gives them a better chance to win the Super Bowl than they were already I I don’t because they you could say the radun but at the end of the day they run first offense that has bejan Robinson and and Drake London and Kyle Pitts I think that’s enough on offense especially to win the NFC South too much on Michael yeah I I’m I’m with Bo around here there’s like I get it to a certain extent but it it’s still a dumb pick but we can get to mailback all right let’s get to it we got some questions here we’ll start at O’Neal start to sell off mailbags the Lions a position is Select Caleb knowing everything we know about the character what do have ended up lying he seems more like a me and not a team guy um it’s for you Jeff yeah it’s Jeff I mean the he seems more like a me not a team guy is the most BS narrative like please go watch go you watch every Caleb Williams interview known to man he is because he what what what would suggest he’s more of a me than team guy I I don’t I don’t understand like the painted nails or he’s a little different like I I don’t know I if he let’s say the lions were in a position it’s like Caleb they didn’t have a quarterback yes yes yes I would hope they don’t [ __ ] that up and I I think I don’t think Brad would I think he’d he too smart he would take Caleb there’s no way he would not take him I who taking JJ no offense but I mean let’s be real J Daniels yeah I mean Jaden yeah but no Kaleb B you can’t mess that up if you’re Brad Holmes so yeah I don’t but it doesn’t matter he’s he’s with the Bears so [ __ ] got Jared gof yeah and you got Jared G so it doesn’t even matter uh coach walk mailbag a little off topic I watch tape of bets quick First Step not a sure tackler and he’s 28 a lot of NFL teams showed interest I think Davenport Houston and Bets will be fine I’m interested to see what happens I’m very I think Fine’s a great word for it they be fine they’ll be fine I think the fact that they brought in DJ reader is what’s not making me just absolutely Panic as far as this defensive line goes that’s that’s like the especially because he’s a veteran that in playoff games has argu played his best compared to when you look at his regular season he’s good in the regular season but in big moments he steps up and to go with Al I think A’s a guy that can potentially get you nine 10 sacks and that’s what you want on the opposite side of hutch so that’s why I’m able to sleep all right at night yeah I think they’ll be good not great I think it really kind of all depends on the health of James Houston if he kind of has that same year one and that type of impact they’ll be good but I’m not counting on much or banking on much out of DB and Port bets I think he’s cut before the season starts yeah I that’s a good point too I didn’t even I’m sorry Bo I don’t know where you’re going with it but I don’t want to ever ask for a man to be cut like I no I hope he makes a team hope takes care of his family but if I’m giving you a prediction I don’t think he makes the RO the roster he could be on the practice squad I think that’s U it could happen and I hope it maybe it does but no sorry Boer what am I am I off on this what do you think no I don’t I don’t know it I don’t know it’s so hard we don’t know about CFL guys we never see we’ve never seen it especially guy like this 15 15 sacks in the CFL I’m just I don’t know if if he’s going to get cut Jeff I’m just interested to see on this other side of of a Hutchinson what their thought is they obviously they didn’t address it at all so far in for agency and they didn’t address it in the draft so they obviously feel like they have someone in that room a committee that can do something so I’m interested to see what Brad Holmes was thinking here I I I trust him I even though even though last year he said we have the guys we have the right guys in this room and they didn’t I still I I don’t know why I’m holding on hope with Brad Holmes in the D D end room but I think it’s because he’s done it in different position groups that I think he can do it eventually here with the line I hope so and the new Terrell Williams too so hopefully that kind of changes a couple things and there’re still don’t you dare compare Matthew Betts to Cameron Wake Cameron Wake was a specimen of a human that man was a beast and in one of the most underrated defensive ends of the last probably 10 to 15 years love the enthusiasm though uh we’ll get to Panda Sam then we’ll get to that guy nor trans we don’t even need that just take that down shout out Panda Sam Panda Sam we appreciate you we address we don’t think it’s gonna happen love the idea but it’s just so unrealistic it’ll never happen that guy North mbag what is one position you guys will will be keeping an eye on post June or training camp cuts to sign before the season uh got two Edge Edge and wide receiver oh wide receiver yeah Edge and wide no I think that that should be the universal I think the most realistic one is wide receiver because there’s actually which um I think Michael Gallop actually just signed um yeah so I think wide receiver huh you see who’s taking workouts though Boon Mr Jarvis Landry Jarvis Landry yeah he well he’s actually at a camp I think he’s with the the the Jags Camp he’s with the Jags Camp I just think wide receiver it’s more realistic because there’s some out there like DJ CH and like there’s like a group of guys out there right now I don’t know about the DN though I would love for someone to get added defensive end um there’s one more I saw in here I want to get oh look it Ed O’Neal thanks for the five dollar he says uh so to try and understand Jeff D rides Caleb Lucas D rides Jordan love Boer D rides JJ does that mean Gentry is the man to back us up with golf I mean I’m oh Gentry I’m a golf guy I don’t I don’t DDE any quarterback but I think D Steve Eiserman if you had to pick one probably oh no and something about that Stephen Stam Co will be a Redwing next year they just got 4-1 by the Panthers he was just had his little moment his Stefon Diggs moment staring down the ice this is my prediction right now Patrick Kane or not Stephen Stam Coast will be a red wing next year hold on hold on hold on hold on I gotta get hold on one second I gotta get am I really am I like that with Jordan love fellas I just don’t realize think that one kind of surprised me I don’t know I’m just glad that this that was the time that I wasn’t called like a a golf gobler or anything so I’m happy for that yeah I mean I think we said once that Jordan love and golf is close and that they took that as like you ride Jordan love Yeah Yeah well that man prove me wrong you prove me wrong it’s hard to back me down from that hill all right we’ll get out of here we appreciate you guys what a great show we’ll be back tomorrow rest of the week well have some special guests on we’re already having book Wednesdays we have John mackun on help us talk some @Entienne Justin Fields was 67 TD's to 9 INT's in 2 years as a starter in college, with one of those seasons being a shortened covid year. College stats don't mean nothing.
NFC north will be the best division this year, no game is a gimmie for any team and I’d argue it’s the best offensive division in football
I don't know what you are talking about. Doesn't everyone have a 6'8" 380 LB 14 year old at home? I do. Manu sure has put in some work! 💯
I want Vaki slotted in as a S for roster purposes, with 3 other RBs on the 53. Can Vaki pass protect?
What if Manu is our strong side defensive end lol
Jeff might as well be a bears fan
I am not worried about our Divison what so ever. We have two rookie QBs in the divison this year. Stroud is an anomaly for a rookie qb. Lions will go 14-3 get the first seed and win the Super Bowl. Give our Divison a couple years to see if these QBs and opponents draft classes pan out. Williams is going to be a bust. Dudes more worried about painting his nails.
Bates missed one kick over 55yds and another one over 60yds it was the first time he kicked outdoors.
Chicago is where QBs go to die
Booner is willing to let everyone go except Goff. It's honestly wild how he claims ppl are "cap casualties" when Goff should be the #1 cap casualty. Brock Purdy does real well with a great team and good play calling. Hendon hooker would be great with this O-line and RB duo and receiver core…. and Ben Johnson. Get rid of Goff and go to Hendon
Vaki= Agnew
I'm very concerned on how we will protect our PS players from getting poached.
You guys are seriously getting good at this. It's really nice having a daily show that only talks about Detroit sports.
Completely disagree with Scott about Branch. They’ve even said that they want to keep him at nickel. I could definitely see them giving Rakestraw a look at safety early on tho.
Last year vildor was our number 2 corner in the nfc championship. If everyone stays healthy, he will be number 6. That's major improvement in our weakest position
Jeff is the only one with a real brain on this show
We traded a future 3rd to get back into the 4th for a guy (manu) that was ranked outside the top 300 on most boards, then traded up again for a special teams player. Let’s not act like we were perfect. Bears got Caleb and Rome, that’s enough to cover 5 drafts worth of impact. Once again booner and Lucas just absolutely no where to be found here on planet reality and common sense
I think Manu will be groomed to be a Tackle due to his size weather it be right or left depending on what Brad decides when it comes to Decker and where Sewell plays. I'm not sure you want a 6'8" guard in your passing lanes lol
