Xander Schauffele extends lead to four | Round 2 | Wells Fargo Championship | 2024

In the second round of the 2024 Wells Fargo Championship, Xander Schauffele carded a 4-under 67 to improve to 11-under overall and lead by four shots at Quail Hollow Club.

The PGA TOUR heads to Charlotte, North Carolina this week for the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow Club – site of the 2017 PGA Championship and 2022 Presidents Cup. This is the sixth signature event of the season, which features an elite field of 69 players. Rory McIlroy returns this week to a place where he’s had plenty of success. He’s claimed three victories here (2010, 2015 and 2021), as well as five top-10s. He enters this week with momentum after winning the Zurich Classic of New Orleans with Shane Lowry two weeks ago. Wyndham Clark will also tee it up as he looks to become the first player to win back-to-back here. This was Clark’s first win on TOUR, and he has claimed two more titles since that victory – including the U.S. Open. Xander Schauffele will also be in Charlotte this week as he hopes to secure his first win. He finished second here in 2023 and claimed T25 or better in 10 of 11 events this season. Others to look out for are Max Homa, Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa and Tommy Fleetwood.

trying to get it to turn over that ball is leaking a little to the right clears the bunkers though that ends up first cut that’s just fine coming out of the first cut this is probably the hardest green on this golf course especially in this back right portion of the green and of course he hits it goes guess it’s a break too well it’s this club that’s been holding them back this year nice the first birdie today for our leader moves to eight [Applause] under set stay in the air Terry within about 5T yesterday just carry to Green’s a little firmer because they’ve been reworked a little too careful that’s first really timid part we’ve seeing him hit in a day and a half you got to trust your read the surfaces are Immaculate so it as he knocks in for a great but if it’s in your mind as a player who’s played here several times that this putt does this yeah but but I I’m still not going to buy that Kurt what about you this is just a low cutting smoothie nice yeah that was definitely not the full compliment that was just a chip cut down there the trajectory was down he hit a little slider up there that’s in pretty darn good shape he’s got to bump this into the hill I think I don’t think he can land it yeah that’s exactly what he trying to do now it’s just got to sit [Applause] down a little higher on the hill than he wanted good read good stroke tack on another [Applause] one he’s taking on that bunker 330 to cover got it just into the first cut that is just fine he’s got some extra length he picked it up he got in the gym just caught a gust right now too right as he swung CT lands too deep in the green it’ll run over the back oh not far enough boy if that was if that was three yards to the left that lands on the front edge and gets back there yeah Xander at the 10th kind of a wet lie down here got to get really good contact here and then let it run out there’s the downhill to the pin and that is how you do it we saw Xander his pitch shot to hear this for birdie no problem just keeps doing his thing out there just quality golf shots good up and downs down that’s why he was asking for it to sit down that is not a problem back there at allass he is not lagging him is he up at the green choplet for his par a little hard to tap yeah he stays bogey free only one bogey for him so far this week that was at number nine yesterday this is a nine iron and this is a nasty H loation aggressive why wouldn’t she be what a shot so much confidence right now took that whole location on no problem shley for another birdie after a terrific t- [Applause] shot another flat just missile needs to hang in just a little bit Frank yeah it does he deserves that he has played so good left trying to flight this one with a little fade not fading needs to sit down now just pulled it and only goes a little further oh he didn’t he I he just didn’t hit it didn’t trust it tell by the sound it’s one drop shot each of the first two days at 18 and drops him back to a 67 not the 64 you had yesterday but only two players beat your score today so was you know conditions seemed a little tougher out there how would you assess or compare maybe the way you played today to yesterday yeah I mean I felt like I had a similar game plan I felt like I handled the conditions in a similar manner just trying to plot around the property knowing that if you hit a drive in like somewhere near the Fairway it’s going to plug and stay in it so um really kept each hole in front of me and um you know it’s only Friday so just just happy to be in this position yeah let’s talk about that I know you want to win badly you’ve been so consistent of the last two years but getting a victory is something that’s very important to you mentally and emot do you try not to think about winning and just kind of stay in your process or in your moment or are you thinking about the results no you’re always going to you’re always going to think about it uh the tough part tough part is just to stay present you know just to to recognize the situation you’re in and realize that you’re playing some good golf and to sort of get out of your own way at times so um I’ve had you know a few knocks on the door here and um I just keep telling myself to keep knocking all right well we’ll see you tomorrow I appreciate your time thanks thanks for watching the PJ Tour on YouTube watch another video right here
