I mean look at this place it brought me out to the desert just outside of Phoenix Arizona to hunt for some golf clubs on this episode of range Pickers we’re going to be checking out all about golf you want to know how long I’ve been looking for this I’m being dead serious did you know that I was coming for this and Jerry’s golf store definitely want to get some golf balls looks like you have a couple here there’s a couple yeah we’ve got $500 today so come with me and enjoy the ride I’m Cole Young and this is range [Music] [Applause] [Music] Pickers hello how hey welcome Hey I’m Cole hi Cole Todd bat nice to meet you thank you so much for having us yeah welcome I love this this shopping area you can get a haircut you can get exotic plants you can we got it all Car Fix it’s pretty cool I think what we’re we’re here to do today is to kind of teach the folks at home that it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg to to get into golf you know so I guess we just wanted to take a look around at some of the used clubs you have here and see if there’s any hidden Gems or you bet Diamonds in the Rough let’s check them out yeah absolutely yeah so feel like the the trick to hunting for golf clubs is coming in with no expectations you never know what you’re going to see are you looking for steel shafts graphite shafts steel shafts I like to be pretty you know masochistic I want it to hurt you know so so obviously we’ve got a pretty large range of golf clubs here here you go 1986 Wilson Staff fluid fields that set right there if I got all bees are better in eighth grade my dad was going to buy me a set of those how’d that go I was a c I had a c minus in one class went after school begged the teacher for about 3 hours to give me a B minus and she did so she said you don’t get it these are for these are for golf clubs that’s exactly what it was so cool the pings are always kind of like catching my eye obviously being in Arizona it’s pretty cool they’re family-owned brand they obviously take care of all the Arizona golf stores everything like that have you ever played ping before oh yeah big ping fan Y without ping we wouldn’t be in business put it that way that’s how good ping is around here saw a lot of merch I was looking at these these ping s57 s57 y couple Majors one with these bad boys right here these are really really good clubs I’ve still got a set of these back at home here you go 962 I was just about to come take a look at those as well that’s The divis Love Club right there yes it is these are so cool these are Titus DCI 962 BS and what is really really interesting about these clubs are the leading edges and also kind of the little unique grind on the yeah there’s not much bounce on these I haven’t come across a full set of these These are definitely in the running for us let’s see how much three through the pitch 9995 can’t even get your car pay for that all about golf this is right in your wheelhouse ta1 wow form forged are these a retro set or is this like an or I mean it’s an original set whoa Cleveland tour action form forged ta1 ta1 good golf story I sold 10 sets of ta7 irons back then yeah four of the guys had hole in ones within first two weeks of them holy C I might have to get these because those were the sevens though these are the ones pitching wedges and the nine irons look really sharp at a dress they’re not too round that is so good looking you have a good eye for golf clubs for a younger guy this is you’re making this very difficult normally when we come to these kinds of stores there isn’t quite the selection that you have oh nice all right I feeling pretty good about our budget and where we’re at with the irons should we figure out what set of irons we’re going with first before we get into the woods and the wedges and all that kind of stuff a few yeah let’s hit a few all right should I should I warm up with the one iron that seems like a smart thing to do right oh nice at the simulator now I do want to get a feel for the irons before we make a decision on the rest of clubs 233 it’s definitely a sharper Leading Edge but that’s why we play these golf clubs you know they’re not easy to hit if you play bad you have all these built-in excuses wow these feel so good how much were these again 250 250 Mint Condition Mint Condition all righty okay I’ve got some good clubs like we could blow through the budget no problem but I have to ask is there anything special you might be hiding I don’t oh yeah oh yeah we’ve got we’ve got a little secret stash especially if you like the old school stuff I’m kind of kind of a fan of the old school stuff myself so yeah let’s take a PE you want to come check out this back here we’ve got a bags and bags of the old school stuff here wow oh my goodness look at this thing Steve Blitz it might have had a little influence on the original wooden Ping golf clubs that were designed serious that is very reminiscent of the original ping mhm wow look at that shape that is so bizarre looking the mule yeah the mule Cactus Mike’s my club guy out there oh you’re joking that no that was his deal he’d soak the Pimon woods and this secret formula stuff you can drive has he given you the recipe no he’ll probably he’ll probably go to the Grave with that I know you brought me in here for a reason that right there is called the mauno the reason this is an M200 little guy named Scotty Cameron but this is really cool this has got like a little cavity in the back very minimal look but this is like a classic Scotty Cameron design love that one of one what the okay you can see that balance right there so this is a balance that was developed to help people get out of bunkers Mr Steve Jones is a buddy of ours your 1996 US Open Champion had vogi make that this is an actual Club from vogi wow is it for sale everything’s for sale let’s see what like a little treasure hunt back there oh yeah oh my God this right here is the Titus 970 after we leave Phoenix we’re going to Portland the whole reason I was going to Portland was to find this club oh wow now now you have it but this club was made famous by none other than Tiger Woods people were paying thousands of doar for that club yes they were honestly if this is the only thing that leaves with me today I’d be pretty happy so I have to ask is that for sale and do you have a number in mind that you’d be willing to let it go for we’ll have to do some tough negotiation on that this is these are all like you know dear and near to my heart yeah I know it’s hard to get rid of these would you do 150 on it we’ll talk turkey talk turkey oh man you’re scaring me by putting it in the bag wow I can’t wait till my office looks like this surpris it doesn’t already I know seriously all right so we saw some things you’re ready to check out ready to check out unfortunately the Cleveland ta 1s were a little bit out of our budget and we saw these Titus DCI 962b irons and the price was $99.95 right $99.95 and I know this is near and dear to you but this is this is something that I don’t think I can leave without 150 for the most sought after golf three-wood in the history of golf because of your passion I’m going to go ahead and do the deal for I appreciate thank you so much um let’s get these let’s get these rung up two three that’s three right there all righty thank you so much I really appreciate it you bet thank you very much perfectly struck I think an important thing about playing golf is leaving the golf course better than you found it really important part of leaving no Trace is to make sure that Jerry’s for about 35 years you can get balls from 50 cents all the way up to $3 a ball depending on what you’re trying to get today we we started with $500 and uh we’ve used $250 of that so we’re looking for anything to round out that set basically a driver maybe a wedge and a putter but looks like we might have to walk out of here some golf balls too you might if I take a look yeah come on Sweet let’s do it so much good stuff here right up this way this is some of our Consignment equipment here I can negotiate on any of these prices so if there’s something you like we’ll get you down where you feel comfortable with that and then our premium drivers run all the way through here and then our wedges are going to be all through this area here killer how much is this one uh let’s see that one for you today I can take another $3 off deal they’re not lying here we’re still on the hunt for a driver we have the Nike VR Pro limited edition still in the maybe pile we would need a slightly stiffer shaft than that if we were going to switch that shaft out we’re definitely going to be increasing the price of that right cost of the shaft and then labor as well and grip too and grip too I can wave the labor cuz you’re a VIP today but the grip the grip we can’t do much about understandably I mean everyone wants to know what is the hammer all about o i i I haven’t hit it uh we get guys looking at it every day and um I want to say anything bad about the hammer but do you remember the commercials I don’t baby it’s Hammer Time I Think It’s Just Jack ham is it Jack ham the hammer yeah and he claims to have hit this you know 500 600 yard I know that thing is actually really cool but if you want to add that one into your purchase today I’ll let that one go for $10 if you find another driver you like okay H got me thinking these 983s are an absolute Cannon just depends on the shaft a Titleist 983k this is 8 and 12 degrees of Loft going for $30 okay let’s hold on to these right now unfortunately I just feel like the price of that once we get the new shaft in is going to be a little too crazy for us okay 250 to play with uh we are at 280 with this guy 290 with this guy we really only have to get like a sandwich I think it’s a 56° maybe a 58 all right could be good maybe a callway Jaws in the callway St yeah let’s go take a peek oh you weren’t kidding you have the hammer fairway wood look at this thing yeah and then you got all you have all these uh Cleaveland here and then it rotate and then go they go all the way okay see this one’s cool this is the Cleveland rtx4 $49.99 has a nice kind of raw rusted finish to it 10° of balance plenty of life in the groove still left this is a sand wedge 56° upgrade tour issue Dynamic gold shaft this might be the one so we’ve got some playroom for the Putter and also going to need some golf balls you’re doing [Music] good you know how expensive golf balls are it’s ridiculous and they’re they’re they’re easy to lose I know I lose my fair share of them tell me a little bit about how we can fit this into our budget and still walk out of here with a good dozen of balls they got the B’s over here and the A’s right here A’s right now they’re going for $3 a ball okay so a lot of folks will do some A’s Mi some there’s some really good bees at Jerry’s golf store her bees are the best bees so a lot of folks actually just go straight to the bees but these are all really good shape uh the great be shows sign of use but still has a lot of play left is the definition okay I mean there’s a certain like kind of just rush that you get finding the right one you know it’s like hunting for records in a record store 2 4 6 8 10 12 that’s $12 right there what’s back here uh this is something I want you to see before you find that putter it’s uh pretty cool it’s our warehouse oh my God there’s a lot of balls sometimes up to almost 2 million there’s a little over a million right now this is insane oh my God but uh this is where we uh buy golf balls from around 2,000 people maybe a little bit more and then we create wholesale orders and we ship them out all over the world really I can’t believe this so you said a million golf balls right now I think there’s a little bit more than that yeah me you guys don’t have a forklift do you uh we do yeah who knew a golf shop would need to be forklift certified you know correct so it’s cool to see that the golf balls that I just chose and the crates up front have gone through like a rigorous quality control I mean this is this is amazing what you guys do there’s one more thing that we’re missing though it’s that Putter and the putters are back in the store let’s go get it what’s this thing down here this looks like a training a almost yep that is that’s actually UNC Consignment one of mine it’s kind of nice it’s illegal to use for real golf but if it it putts really nice it looks pretty good there you go go pour it right in there H but we got to find something that’s legal probably have another 60 or 70 over here 60 or 70 I like this one yeah Odyssey try hot this thing is in great condition wa comes with the new grip looks like this is like we’re putting together like a pretty stud set right now like I I feel like I would game this putter in real life this this is an awesome awesome condition Odyssey try hot this is the blade KJ Choy played a try hot for a while but this thing is so sweet this might be the one can I roll this one the rule in the store you make it you buy it I mean that Center Cup right there there I’ll take it I think we are all good so we’ve got the Titus 983k driver The Hammer manager special for man special y $10 the wedge Cleveland RTX 4 it’s a 56° with 10° of Bounce balls we got golf balls yeah put those in we got the Grade B Titus pro1x handpicked by myself and the putter right which is uh what did you say that one was again Odyssey try hot number three you’re looking at 190 51 today sir and I did say I was going to try to ask you if you’d like I was going to say we got a little leftover what do we get some like a lot of guys do the naked lady teas it’s kind of like a Jerry thing or the bikini lady te’s or the bikini brief men’s teas too I’ll do the bikini teas let me grab those real quick these guys are ripped huh 200 bones all righty that’s for you thank you so much great time appreciate it yeah any time [Music] all right guys we made it to doson Ranch golf course we’re here at the beautiful driving range stuck to try out the clubs that we just got we left all about Golf and Jerry’s golf store we got some pretty cool clubs to be honest with you we crossed off a bucket list Club of mine pretty stoked to hit it for the first time and uh see how perform this set right here is something that I feel like would be like pretty good for tournament setup I don’t know we kind of just lucked out and got some like very high performance golf clubs the first one we want to start out with when we warm up is the Cleveland rtx4 wedge had a ton of life left in the grooves this is only a 56° something around 100 yards would be ideal and uh we’re going to give it a shot that would have gone in the hole if there was a hole there wa that went far one 13 total looking for 100 yards 11 10 might be a little stronger than my sandwich at home to be honest with you pretty good honestly no complaints so we’re moving on to Titus 962b irons these are really cool they’re not forged irons they’re made out of cast they’re they’re really kind of indestructible you tend to find them in pretty good shape only because they’re just like not that soft metal this is the seven iron please go 150 wow okay all right 164.512 total that’s pretty good love the look of these clubs definitely more of a player’s iron 60 damn all right I really really like these don’t want to jinx it don’t want to call shots early but I feel like this is kind of the best bag we’ve built on the show to date titles DCI 96 to be3 iron three iron is a little scary just cuz it’s it’s like there’s not much bounce on it that’s a combination of uh grip and me sucking let’s try it again it’s always really hard when the uh ball picker is right in front of you cuz you just want to hit it 212 in the air 220 230 total so sick 212 in the air 230 total 133 ball speed I love these I don’t know this this is the best set we’ve ever built in this show seriously this is so sick all right the moment we’ve all been waiting for Titus 970 13 degree 3-wood no paint on top really slick looking Club Tiger Woods wins the 2001 and 2002 masters with the same exact Club although with a steel shaft in it now I have it so we’re going to give it a rip that is such a cool sound that was 244 total but because it’s so low launching and so low spin we actually got it out to 266 total but the sound is so cool it really feels like a baseball bat it’s like corked delete that the golf ball is literally like almost bigger than the club head don’t want to M hit it cuz it’s not going to go anywhere 236 in the air 261 one total a A+ I’m biased I’ve been W of this club since I was like 15 years old so now I have and you don’t if you have $30 lying around you can pick up a Titus 983k driver this thing is a Canon it’s got some pretty big shoes to fill considering we hit the 3-wood about as far as I hit my driver so uh let’s see how it goes that one totally went 330 I I know it the track man doesn’t know it but I know it 274 in the air 292 total I’m going to take that honestly uh because you know what I feel like the hammer might be topping that now the problem with this club is that when you hit it you have to scream bloody murder comes with the Hammer X Factor smart shaft low torque super light that doesn’t mean anything I’ve never seen the shape before so boom no I’m just kidding but that one 235 in the air 250 total but about four football fields to the right the sounds absolutely horrendous so it looks like we’re kind of tapping out at 260 could be me could be the club could be the fact that we’re not playing with like the naked people te’s oh no just absolutely obliterated I’m tired it’s time to go relax and hit some putts um yeah let’s [Music] go we’re here at the first green at Dobson Ranch we’re here to test out this Odyssey try hot 3 putter in really really good condition probably like a 300 $50 putter when it came out but we got it for $47 which is pretty good in my book we’re just going to reach into my little ball sack here and get some Grade B tius Proby 1 X’s that I also handpicked six chances to make an 8ft putt I really hope we can do it jeez so Pat that was user error all right how much more sunlight do we have all right so that’s wrap on today’s episode of rang Pickers I think that today was a huge success all in all probably the best set of golf clubs that we’ve ever built under $500 I’m going to give today an overall rating of probably like
