ideal occasion to inspire those who are just beginning their careers you will note that these individuals have made contributions across a broad spectrum of subsections of the golf industry underpinning all of their success is significant commitment passion and Endeavor in the time that we have available to us today we cannot possibly do these exceptional careers Justice however I will give a small flavor of their achievements as we invite each one to the stage to receive their award we are awarding PGA Master status to three PJ professionals today and I will introduce them to you in alphabetical order before I do that i’ would like to ask Alan white the chairman of the professional golfers association to join me to make these presentations Alan thank you [Applause] please congratulate the following PGA members who have all achieved PGA Master status Jeffrey John Jeffrey was elected to membership in 1965 after his first role at Kum Hill Golf Club in Sur he started to travel what makes jeffy’s career remarkable and different from others is that he moved abroad in 1967 which was 25 years before working abroad with was a a PGA professional uh wi became a widespread for most PGA professionals he is without doubt an early Pioneer and Pathfinder for the 1500 members we currently have working abroad he has worked and positively represented the PGA in the Netherlands Denmark Austria and numerous roles in Germany he’s also been extensively involved in coaching Golf Course design and golf operations in China India turkey Bahrain Zanzibar and Dubai furthermore he’s also completed regular charity work in countries such as Tanzania and Sri Lanka where he has not only coached but also sourced clothing and equipment to assist the local populations his contribution to the global golf development has been truly exceptional and he is recognized as a tremendous Ambassador for the PGA Brand This has eared him the Accolade of PGA Master professional [Applause] thank [Applause] you next we have David Scott David was elected to full membership in March 1985 after serving as apprenticeship under Gordon kinck at blaggy golf club his award of best Scottish assistant proved to be an indicator of what was to come head professional roles at laam Grange and Bal balour Golf Club were followed by the director of golf position at Kings Barnes significant posts in St Andrews at the Jukes course and the old course hotel where he was the director of operations bolstered his reputation and in 2020 he assumed his current role of general manager at dumbani lyns in addition to this impressive career he’s also played for Great Britain and Ireland in the PGA Cup in 1990 and was captain of the Scottish region in 1990 1999 2000 as president of the caddy school for soldiers David’s contribution to this International charity that support supports veterans to create a new future in Gulf provides further evidence of his selfless commitment these contributions alongside an exceptional career Define him as an exemplary ambassador of the PGA and a worthy recipient of PGA Master professional status [Applause] [Applause] it finally today we honor Jonathan wallet Jonathan was elected to membership in February 1994 unable to sustain his early success as a player Jonathan like many members transitioned into coaching his natural talent and a drive for excellence underpin a career that has taken him to the very top of his profession over the past 30 years he has focused on Elite Performance he has coached on National programs and had a positive influence on future and current Elite golfers having helped players to wins on the DP World Tour Asian tour LPGA and L his influence however has extended Beyond his work as a singular coach through his development of the Elite Performance coach program which has supported in excess of 180 golf coaches from 30 different countries in addition he has authored seven books and found a time to offer his support to the PGA of Switzerland through their education program Jonathan is a tremendous Ambassador for the PGA and his extraordinary impact across the globe has earned him the worthy recognition as a PGA Master coach [Applause] thank you well done to all of our PJ members who have achieved PJ Master status I would now like to invite Peter law back to the stage to formally welcome hello everyone um I would like to firstly congratulate all graduates for completing the PGA program that is no mean feat and we can now all proudly say we are all full PJ members um receiving this award at the end of my time on the program has come as a real shock but is something I’m extremely proud and humbled by so a few thank yous are in order first firstly thank you for Titleist for their sponsorship of the Pao program and for sponsoring the PGA training of the Year award 2024 you’ve supported the program and this award for many years now and on behalf of everyone here it’s amazing that such a big name in the golf industry has supported us as training professionals I thank you also goes to Golf Pride for their sponsorship of the custom fitting and Equipment Technology award I Echo what I’ve just prev previously said that your support of the PGA education program is amazing so thank you i’ then also like to say thank you to University of b Birmingham and all the staff at the PGA Training Academy at the belfree for organizing the PGA program and creating what many feel is the best sports education program in the world so one of my personal highlights of the PJ program was the residential weeks at the belfrey where we got Hands-On practical tutoring on all aspects of the golf industry the knowledge and expertise that all the lecturers passed on to us will stand us all in good stead going forward and pursuing our careers in this industry also as really inspired by the in Innovative technology on show at the belfrey especially the new swing Studio as someone who’s a bit the golf nerd particularly on the equipment and Technology side seeing this type of setup in action um that one day I hope to have myself was extremely inspiring furthermore what we have learned from the residential weeks assignments and teaching topics will directly help to shape our careers in golf um my love for golf started at the age of eight in primary school when a local PGA professional came in to coach us at an after school club he inspired me to take up Golf and pave the way for my dream to become a PJ professional because of this coaching Juniors has become another personal highlight of mine and I hope myself and all my fellow graduates will graduates will inspire the generations to come um to fall in love with golf just like that PJ professional many years ago did for me um my journey to become a PJ professional was not a typical one after graduating from University in 2013 I began working in the construction industry as a contracts manager working in this industry was extremely stressful on a daily basis so I decided at the age of 28 to make the jump um with the support from my family and friends to follow my passion and sign up to the PJ course although it was a daun in step three and a bit years later here we all are and I have no regrets at all additionally progressing through the course has also personally helped me develop my self-confidence and challenge um my social anxiety I would never have thought 3 years ago I’d be able to stand up here and speak to you all today so finally for me I would like to say a few thank yous to my family and friends I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for my parents support and encouragement especially when I was contemplating such a drastic change in career you’re also there whenever I needed um taken to and from the golf club as a junior the best taxi service around and thank you to Dad for all always making our games of golf competitive when I was younger I can’t count the number of times that had a double break in 30ft put on the last half of the match leaving me desperate to get back out there and take him on again another big thank you goes out to my in-laws who are the best hype Squad going your encouragement and support over the last decade and particularly W on the PJ course has meant the world to me next thank you to my training professional at ASU and wand Golf Club Richard L who I know is probably tuning in in the shop as we speak um thank you for your ongoing advice and understanding especially during busy assignment exam periods and for helping me review lessons I’ve given and for giving me a lesson or two on my own swing as well an honorable mention also goes to all the members at my golf club who have given me a go for lessons and let me grow over the last 3 years then finally to my wife for encouraging me and believing in me when I sometimes didn’t believe in myself to take the plunge to follow my dreams become a golf professional thank you for all the pep talks proof reading of assignments and listen to me as stress in particular about upcoming practical exams also a big sorry for all the pencils golf tees and score cards I leave around the house so to finish let’s look to let’s all look to the Future all of us graduates have the pleasure to work in golf and work in an industry that we love graduating from the PJ program is just the start of our Journeys so good luck to you all in your future careers and maybe we’ll meet again on the on the golf course thank you and I wish you all safe journey [Applause] home well on Josh ladies
