you’re going to have a little bit of a look at at the goalkeepers DAV R has been the Undisputed arsenal number one hasn’t he since what mid September however he won’t be involved on Saturday because of course he’s unable to face his parent Club out it got us thinking about the impact that he has actually had on the Arsenal team you’ve been looking at some of the stats though what have you found out in in in comparison yeah well Aaron Ramer will play in goal on Saturday and there’s a debate that has Domin ated the start of Arsenal season should Mel Etta have gone with Aaron ramsdale in goal who was last season’s number one and named in the PFA Premier League team of the year or summer signing David reyer arteta went with reyer but did he make the right call well looking at these stats comparing the two ramsdale has conceded more goals per 90 on average than reyer this season but let’s not forget that Arsenal’s defense is Miles better this season so that is probably to be expected so if you you look at the sage save percentage which is a better way of comparing the two goalkeeper shot stopping ability Reyes is actually lower in fact Rey safe percentage is the lowest out of all of the Premier League’s first choice goalkeepers this season only Brighton’s Jason steel has a worse record but michetta did not sign reyer as a shot stopper as we can see in the stats below because he is better at his feet than ramsdale and he does play higher up the pitch he also dominates his penalty area a lot more you can see he collects a lot of his crosses he wins all of his ground jewels and he also completes all of his throws he also uh he also um uh creates a lot in terms of the attack so only Jordan pford and Allison Becker have had more passes leading two shot assists than Ry this season he’s also a very good sweeper keeper right he sweeper keeps more than ramsdale and that is because ramsdale is higher off his line and is therefore able to stop more attacks which is important for Arsenal as it allows the center backs to play higher which means the midfields are higher so Declan rice can go and press higher at the pitch and Arsenal can have more dominance in the game now dominance is a key word because Rey also dominates his penalty as we can see here so what does this all tell us well you know uh Rey you know having a fantastic season his shot stopping ability isn’t good but he was to play with his feet so that’s why he’s Metta went with that decision I think he’s made the right call

Dude, no. Ramsdale is a better keeper, he gives the defence more confidence, plus he has a strong character that has an impression on the team, fans and even opponents. David Raya is decent but just not better than Ramsdale, he's actually shaky at times, and his so called "great distribution" has yet to be seen.
Simple answer: no. Ramsdale needed to do something wrong repeatedly in order to be replaced but he didn't so it feels arbitrary especially considering Raya is not a better shot stopped and only slightly better at ball distribution; something Ramsdale could have easily improved upon if given time.
The media didn't care when Ramsdale took Leno's spot but made a huge story questioning Arteta's decision

Raya is not necessarily a better goalkeeper, but a better fit for Arsenal and the Arteta wants Arsenal to play.

Ramsdale is better than Raya who can be very shaky and nervy to watch at times and his stats look better because he has had a solid defence ahead of him so he doesn't need to do much and honestly I do feel more nervus when Raya has the ball at his feet than Ramsdale so his sweeper keeping doesn't impress me enough to start over Ramsdale who is also good with is his feet in fact just as good as Raya if not better so Raya hasn't impressed enough imo
