Riverside’s Addison Brink runner up here at the Western Iowa Conference meet today uh Addison it turned out maybe to be a pretty good day to golf uh thoughts and feelings on the day um I liked how the weather was and the way I played was iffy but overall it was a pretty good day uh elaborate on your game today what did you like what what did you not like uh I mean just overall kind of the thoughts and takeaways uh my driver my long irons were working pretty well my chipping was struggling then my putting was just okay front nine I don’t remember what the number was but it was pretty good uh I mean speak to what you were doing good on the front nine um it was about like the same around the whole course just like the drives long irons and trying to tell where I should hit it where I shouldn’t I think it was I remember if it was 10 or 11 you had a triple bogey uh I mean what do you recall about that anything you could have done differently um probably my cutting could or chipping could use a lot of work for it otherwise I guess I don’t really remember whole or is there anything though uh that you can take away from today going forward um to just like never get down yourself one hole doesn’t really determine how you play the rest of the game wow that’s an awesome job today thank you well trainer Sophie Peterson is Western Iowa Conference Champion here today uh Sophie or a conference champ how does that sound how does that feel it’s great talk about your game uh I mean what win of the success that you had today I had a few birdies um cars I don’t know uh how important is it to you know start you a pretty good front nine um how important is it to start strong and I meet like this when you’ve got good competition I mean that was really my back nine cuz I played I played the back nine first so I just came back stronger um I recovered more uh most golfers will say you either got to be able to drive really well or putt really well ideally you want to do both but one’s going to be better than the other where do you feel your strength was to was it was it driving or putting I think it was both I had a few bad drives few good putts um yeah talk about you know playing this course what are the challenges that came with it and how did you try to attack today which I mean ultimately worked um trees there’s a lot of trees um in the Hills the could roll down the hill you just you get have a bad lie too is there any one particular uh hole now or kind of sequence looking back on it that that kind of maybe was a secret for you today and allowed you to win it no I mean just all around it you know a really good round of golf uh and your team takes care of business as well thoughts on that uh just shout out to Harley she got under 100 which super great and our our other ones are under um 110 so that’s a great team score too for us work hard all season uh and to win a conference title like this I mean how how gratifying is that what’s that say about the work you’ve put in a lot um I I’m on the golf course all the time it’s paid off awesome well hey uh congrats today and best Lu going forward all right coach uh I mean able to you know win another conference title know it’s something you guys have gotten kind of used to there in trainer uh thoughts on today I’m just incredibly proud of the girls we actually thought that this year might be a little bit of a rebuilding year because we lost um Brooklyn Curran last year who’s playing Iowa Western and Matty Lewis the year before who’s playing at Concordia so two college level golfers left our team but I I mean to have these scores come in today Sophie just shooting an excellent round and coming back strong in her final nine holes um Harley saer sub 100 and then Molly and Brooke and Leah and Shay LE Smith our freshman coming out and playing 18 holes only for the second time this year it’s just unreal it’s so wonderful you mentioned you know the start of the year I don’t know that many people would have expected you guys to be where you were today but you are what does that say about the progression this group made through the year yeah we this is a great group of girls and our um Team chemistry is really great this year they have made um friendships across all levels of the grade so our seniors are friends with our freshmen and really showing some great leadership and I think that that relationship building is really translating onto the course um so that’s wonderful for us us um and yeah the progression we’ve been working hard since we haven’t missed a practice it’s been a long stretch these last two weeks we’ve had a lot of competitions um so we’ve been trying to get the girls rest when we can and trying to really build up their team chemistry as much as we can big day for Sophie Peterson what can you say about what she did she is just unbelievable she’s only a sophomore and to see that level of focus and drive come in those final nine holes was just crazy we know she has it in her um she’s been having a hard time believing it in herself just this last year and to see it finally pay off she like she said in her interview she is on the golf course all of the time she’s got a great support network behind her um and it’s really really satisfying to see her get to reap the rewards today congrats coach thank you so much
