tournament and thank you all for tuning in to Heiser media and supporting our coverage I’m Nathan Johnson joined in the booth today by Dan Brooks Wells and Gary didario Gary can you tell us a little bit about who we have on the card today yeah sure thing we’re going to see some top tier amateurs here with Ben apple and Conor Leman tied at 10 under par and you know not too far behind them Ethan Martin and Matthew kigle at six down we’ll see if they can chip away at the lead and at Goldman Reds that’s uh very very doable yeah you can see here pretty tight leaderboard in the top 10 eight stroke separating those guys but as you said very tricky course coming up Dan you want to tell us a little bit more about it absolutely guys guys we got a treat today colan Park is beautiful got some really tight wooded lines and we are starting off with a very fun hole hole one 782 ft this is a par 4 you want to fly the disc past the short basket you just saw you can kind of pick your Gap and then you can either find a Hiser into this uh elevated somewhat elevated basket here you can kind of see it drops off um there’s an OB Road following the left side you’ll probably see these guys try to throw a straight shot thater out this is looking nice out of the hand from Ben anything up by that short basket is a great shot and that is uh yeah that’s what he’s done there yeah he’s he’s got a gap to the right um a lot of these guys you’ll see try to end up on the left side and then there’s some some gaps to work in there but you got to get really uh two really good rips off to have a shot of the birdie nice looking shot there from Connor just catches a late tree at the end of the flight and speaking of rips you’re going to see some real treats with some of these guys these Young Guns throwing some serious power shots here today yeah this one Speaking of power Ethan Martin absolutely smokes that drive turns the camera person and uh that is way down the Fairway another great thing we’re going to see today is uh is Matthew here he’s a lefty throws a lot of understable dis in his bag and carves out some pretty sweet lines on the course yeah nice smooth turnover there going to keep himself in the Fairway and I give him a chance at that long birdie look yeah this uh Conor here he’s he’s pretty far back this would be a ridiculous three if he could get all the way up it’s a nice flight a good skip but he still got a little bit of work to do to chip up for his par turnover coming from Matt ah just a bit pulled out of the hand catches a tree there drops him down still stays safe though not too bad trying the Flex Shot does it get back yes wow definitely interesting to see Ben go for the uh the forehand there as opposed to the Heiser out to the right yeah I I would agree with that I was expecting him to shoot something down that right Gap but maybe he he was just confident he practiced that shot so and this is a great approach from Ethan really unfortunate roll away to send him out towards Circle Edge but still a great shot nonetheless he’s going to have a birdie look coming up yeah and a birdie look on on whole one Reds especially first you know one of the first times they’re going to be on camera that’s a pretty special way to start the round off yeah good good point uh good point like probably note this is probably some of these guys first time on camera so you know you got the nerves flowing you know you got the amateur championship and you know you got eyes on you so a good challenge for everybody yeah we’ll see if that comes into play with any potential early tester putts worth keeping in mind that one’s scoots off the base of that rock structure for Ben going to leave him in that 20 foot range see if Matt can give us an early highlight gives it a bid just a bit High just a bit off the left side there for Ethan on the birdie look yeah that was a good speed like you said a little left but you got to take you you know you got to come away with what was good about it got good commitment nice putt there from Ben knocks down the par save definitely don’t want to start off this round with a bogey moving in the wrong direction a par will be just fine on whole one and a lot of this course you know it plays tough here in the woods so ah it’s Matthew just a bit low on the comebacker it’s a tough start lot of lot of golf left can’t be thinking about that too much par is good on hole one that did play almost the whole stroke over par and there were no birdies on the day so tough start uh tough starting hole for everyone but moving on to Hole two this is a par 4 527 ft tight tunnel Gap as you’ll see is a theme at this course up the middle uh OB road on the left so the name of the game is get down the Fairway as much as you can and try and stay in it this is looking nice from Ben a full flight forehand Fades out a bit at the end but 527 ft hole that definitely bit off 300 plus so he’ll be given himself a nice chance to get a look for the birdie yeah anything past like this this stump in the middle that that stump right there in the middle it’s a good shot seems like Connor kind of hit just a little bit early before that how great is it to see these uh these young guys throwing these high-speed drivers off the te and just trying to push the distance on on these par fors it’s just no fear these kids have no fear it’s it’s pretty awesome to watch got to respect the commitment that one comes out a bit early for Matt not the start he wanted going to have to scramble now off on the right side rough looks like he’s lining up some sort of turnover forehand just to get back in position it’s a nice looking angle just got to sit down oh oh my gosh the slowest roll ever all the way from perfect position back into the rough that is a a tough break going to be a very demanding up and down now to save the par and that’s a good example because you can see how just even 10 ft to the left that matters so much on that shot absolutely now I I watched Connor debate a little bit about going the forehand over the road here but he he told me that uh it’s just a bit too early to put that kind of risk into the round I feel like that Gap that he just hit right there was a even riskier that was a tiny little forehand Gap he snuck through there but a nice approach nice approach for Ethan as well going to have another Circle Edge Look coming up after that great drive from Ben catches an early tree and that is going to send him a ways down the slope to the left or the right side I should say good approach by Matt want to stop the bleeding and uh just move on so you can see this is also a common theme here if you get off the Fairway you are dealing with low branches some bushes that you got to work your way through so really important to stay on The Fairway long look for Connor oh and it’s just off the top of the cage what an effort can’t get much closer than that and now Ben the opposite mistake just off the band couple of good bids from Circle two for those guys what a great birdie by Ethan here yeah he’s off to the to a great start giving himself looks on the first two holes is uh is exactly what you want to do if you’re trying to chase down these two guys that are tied for the lead and as these guys are tapping in Ethan was the only two on the day nice job Ethan I’m sorry the only three the only Birdie on the day we knew what you meant yeah yeah you know uh ho three 451 ft Par Four here tight Gap off the T surprise surprise and it kind of dog legs to the right Gary is there any OB on this hole uh unless you take some pretty crazy kicks up to the left or the right with the road um no actually there’s no OB the normal OB with the Rope behind the basket’s not being played for this event so it gives the uh players a little bit more room to uh go for some aggressive upshots to the basket now Nice Shot there from Ethan continues the hot start Connor absolutely it was looking so nice just a bit overturned catches that tree these guys are still throwing high speeds they’re really banking on that risk reward trying to get way down the Fairway versus throwing something lower speed and not taking a huge kick see if Matt can there we go that same I think that same tree caught three of our four players so just very well-placed these guys are still in the Fairway roughly so still with an outside chance to get a birdie look here this is looking really nice from Ben just a soft little fade and Skip going to give him right around a 28f footer this one looks like it slid in pretty nicely probably a similar distance yeah just caught that last tree these kicks were not too bad on the left side of the Fairway it kind of opens up that either baby Flex forehand or just kind of a straight slightly turning putter shot into the green so nice shot from Connor as well going to have himself a birdie look and Ethan with the best Drive of the group just has a nice little chip forehand into the green oh yeah I think that’s how you play the hole guys mhm field goal right there done yes we got four birdie looks for the card coming up Matt first out and he’s able to knock it down from circle’s Edge gets his round moving back in the right direction Ben knocks it down as well I don’t want to speak too soon guys but uh Connor is able to knock this down and he does we’re looking at a starf frame here I’m done there we go not not a ton of star you know not a ton of uh I would say a ton of common star frames out here so good job on the card ho four 38 6 ft R3 this is a really tricky one you have to end up on the left side but you can’t throw a pure Hiser to get there it’s like this flip up pushup Heiser that needs to miss a tree or two yeah this would be an impressive starf frame if they were able to put that together fact back it’s kind of a theme out here at Coleman there’s only three par 3s but they each of them require such a specific difficult shot that getting a birdie on any of them is I mean really a top tier Birdie on this course this is looking like a similar line from Connor and ends up in a similar spot we’ll call that like out in the 60 foot range or so it’s not a bad result at all no couple of jump putts coming up this one looks like he’s pushing a little straighter no it still heisers a little early yeah it’s just so tough to get that you know to like trust that underst stable disc is not going to like flip all the way over on you cuz if you end up going to the right it’s way down the hill tough kick there for Matt yeah mat Matt’s had a couple of early releases hopefully we can we can start to figure out figure that out um coming up going to the roller on the scramble not a bad shot maybe a little too straight catches a tree there so we’ll have this 110 footer or so to get up and down for the bogey just pulls it a tad all right we got a couple of outside looks coming up we’ll see I think the these kids are going to be going full send at it if I I just pulled a little bit there from Connor you can tell they want it yeah seems to be only only one speed on these guys minds and that is uh green means go not a bad effort from Ethan as well catches a bit of the band and oh same exact spot for Matt there just a bit High nothing wrong with the par on this hole I’d say even with that par uh Ethan’s off to a a pretty ideal start you know two down through four holes here yeah he’s doing he’s doing what he needs to do start making a push [Music] all right you want to make more of a push try to play well on whole five this is a par four 655 ft the t- shot is pretty downhill so you can throw what you want putter mid driver you want to just dog legs to the left and you want to throw up this path and back over to the right so ideal t-shot in the middle somewhere and then a lot of players if your righties are blasting a flick up that path so it’s downhill and then slightly back uphill [Applause] bit of an early release there for Ethan but gets himself to the edge might have some sort of step out forehand from there and we know Connor Connor goes full send this looks like a big rim driver right here yikes oh man Andy gets the skip that is way down there that that’s like perfect I don’t know if I’ve seen better drives than that that’s pretty that’s pretty impressive yeah I don’t know if it’s possible to get much farther down with just like the severe angle that this Fairway takes flick here out a Matthew smooth flick just gets a bad skip that was looking good yeah tough counter skip there just going to leave him with a really tough angle going into the green at that point like Ben trying to play the pathway there a little bit but takes a pretty decent kick out into the middle of the Fairway down there yeah he’s going to have a wide open shot from there this is a tricky little anheiser Flex flick shot looks like he gets a good angle on it comes out a tad early I’m curious to see what kind of shot he has from there yeah I think he B bought bit off enough distance that it shouldn’t be too should be pretty scramble this is a really nice looking shot from Ben going to give himself an outside look maybe somewhere out in circle two land I think is that to save his power for Ben yes I believe so yes yeah Matt trying that turnover forehand to get up into the green but just doesn’t quite turn it enough comes out a bit nose up stalls it out Conor here rewarded with an open shot throwing basically a straight to Heiser shot gives himself a look for the three yeah I mean played the hole pretty much perfectly and rewarded with about a 25-footer it’s about as good as you can do here not a bad kick for Matt to keep him inside the circle oh boy nice Dodge there for Dave uh maybe a little PTSD if you if you know you know big par safe here for Ben not fully committed on that one I think a little bit yeah I just fluffed it a bit maybe a little longer birdie look than it originally seemed from Connor just around circle’s Edge and just never quite had the height on it I’m sure he he would like to have that opportunity back he’s definitely has committed Strokes they’re just they’re zooming out of his hands I i’ I’ve noticed this the young crew too they’re they’re they putt hard they throw hard and they putt hard if you that was a common theme out there Gary oh for sure if uh one of these days I’m waiting for the basket to break on the other side of Conor’s putt a little left side stick for Matt it’s a good par save for him [Music] mhm as these guys are tapping in and this was the second hardest no this was the hardest hole on the course a good comebacker there playing a full stroke and a little bit over and the only Birdie on the day was Connor Miller so well done Connor so par is good par is good moving on to Hole six start kind of playing back up that hill this is a par four 533 ft you’re looking to shoot something up the Gap and kind of heer out a tad and that will leave you with a little bit of a Hiser into this basket as well as you can see the road to the left and behind is OB it’s definitely one of the more daunting drives with that Gap right in front of you cuz you’re trying to push it uphill and a bad kick to the left puts you out of bounds and a kick to the right puts you in no man’s land little bit of a kick to the left there for Connor but pretty much stays in the on the edge of the Fairway so might be able to make something work but this is what you don’t want early kick again after that early release from Matt is going to be jail over there you could tell he’s just trying to get that angle on that drive and when when he gets it it’s it’s great just a little off on the on the timing of that right now not a bad shot from Ethan going to find himself in the early gap of that cluster of trees Midway down the Fairway Ben getting a little more push out of this looking nice and yeah that’s very solid shot yeah that one looks good this the camera doesn’t show how uphill that shot really is so to be able to push it up there is more difficult than you would think it’s like a de out for Matthew yeah nice recovery to put himself back into position I have some sort of outside look coming up tricky footing from Connor but very well done Smooth release biting off a good chunk up that Fairway should have a good looking a basket oh my God you can hear him he’s we’ve all been there bud yeah it happens man and now look what he has to deal with this is that call it Shrubbery but it’s like a certain type I don’t see it at other courses cuz they’re like they go above your head but they’re not tall trees you just got to deal with all these branches in front of you yeah Bushy viny weird yeah annoying R somebody somebody figure out what what that’s called over there yeah tell us in the comments little tree Direction there for Ethan but still good progress up the Fairway should be a pretty easy par from there we finally get to Ben’s Drive looks clean maybe a little short just a tad short 30 35 footer coming up tricky turnover into the green here for Matt I was looking nice but just a bit too wide be a long look if he’s running this I will be wow he is of course why why wouldn’t you why wouldn’t you run everything down not bother by the OB not bothered by the car he’s just going for it that’s right all right all right Ethan there we go little maturity one out of 180,000 respect oh Matthew knocks down a long one to save you don’t say to save a double bogey too much but he needed that one stop the bleeding every stroke counts it you know it sucks it was for double bogey but it’s nice it went in and what a putt what a putt there to take the lone three yeah that’s a big birdie there for Ben going to get a stroke back on Connor kind of keep him within Arms Reach arms length whatever what whatever the phrase is right and Ben was the only Birdie on the day there well done whole 7 55 ft par 4 Once Again common theme shorter Par Four try and get through this Fairway as best you can and this is going to also dog leg to the right so this is a pick your poison how far do you want to try and get it down there I’m guessing a lot of these guys are just going to continue to go big this might actually be a little more conservative forehand from Ben good second tree keeps him close to the edge of the Fairway absolutely and Gary I missed it are we dealing with any OB on this hole uh it’s the same kind of thing as before there’s you know you have the the road it gets a little close to the basket and you have it over there on your left but the normal OB rope around the Red Basket is isn’t in play um so it gives them a little more leeway as they approach the green the road is still there oh speaking of Road that’s got to sit hard I think it was low enough it didn’t get all the way over to the road yeah tough kick there for Ethan this looks like a nice line for Matt if it continues to sneak through catches a tree but not a bad flight it doesn’t look like he’s on road just gravel he’s playing with the he’s playing with the road you got there though not a terrible place to be you know it is fairly open over it but a bit risky if you you know kick something and keep yourself out of bounds you’re not going to progress much yeah it’s hard not to it’s hard not to want to throw down the road cuz there’s there’s no trees there exactly look like mat gets over on that one a little bit yep look like he’s lining it up again over that road a little cabbage but it gets back be a tester circle’s Edge maybe a little outside this is looking I was looking nice it was that putter was trying to flip all the way over but just didn’t quite do it in time this Conor’s Drive yes all right a little jump putut wow a jump putut on a 500 foot par for that is uh that is a crush I guess that’s why you throw the driver what a what a great scramble by Ben there to get back out yeah keep it close trying to ring up another long one just floats it a bit Ethan’s just staying staying right next to that road he knows he’ll always have a gap over there just a bit off on the PT unfortunately birdie y thank the basket good call good call is e to save Bo it’s either a five or a six we’ll see here in a [Music] second good pot either way okay so again it’s a good putt it’s good save I know we don’t want to save for the double b but every stroke matters yeah he’s still in this thing you know I mean currently seven off the lead not ideal but this course is hard enough that there are plenty of Strokes to be made up on the back nine yeah you just got to keep going two three stroke swings happen just like that oh Matthew balanc It On the Rocks there for that one bonus style points absolutely moving on to whole eight this is a par 4 569 ft kind of a weird shot off the te you really want to swing it to the left uh get somewhere uh in here so you can have some sort of a gap this is definitely one of the it’s like even tighter than you would think so you can’t really see the landing Zone but you want to hit these initial skinny trees and just work your way left Conor catches an early on and ends up in those those little trees those little bushes again tough scrambling over there on the left B this looks oh he’s just going to follow him he claims that shot gets him to the Yellow Basket sometimes so the aggressive play doesn’t always work out for you no that’s true definitely risk reward I I can see that CU if you’re if you’re throwing that anheiser Flex working it uh right to left and having it just you know Heiser back out but that’s a really high difficulty technical shot and Ethan’s going a little early here and I think we got three people and look at this I mean look just look at what he’s dealing with barely any reach back on thummer I think I don’t think it went very far unfortunately just got to find a way to get yourself back to the Fairway at this point I think that’s what Ethan’s trying to Jew just yet nice little pitch out that’s two that’s two smart smart plays Ethan good job well done we’re proud of you we got to get a flashiest but got to get a smart Point meter on the uh on the scorecards there look like a good thummer he’s out in the open I want to I want to give a name to those but they’re not like full trees or like like Hobbit trees all I don’t know you’re on your own on this one damn you guys yeah yeah I mean they just you know you guys Lord of the Rings fans what’s going on here yeah yeah they’re just tall enough to be like fulls siiz trees to these guys but not so tall that they’re in the air that’s right it’s the luchan forest oh yeah help me out thank you back to the action this is looking great from oh I I niced him I I I commentator jinxed him again catches a late tree there for Matt two great great Drive great second shot just tough hole here on eight B just gets a little too high on that one yeah lead himself with circle’s Edge car here trying to flex looks like a slower disc o little OB there deep but hangs on just at the end of the flight looks like he was running that a little bit long look here for Matt I think this is a birdie look how he is sending it hell yeah expect we’ll see him run everything coming up here good good bid by Connor from the knee just pulled a little bit little straddle putt nice harded that one that’s a good confident putt from a a tricky little stance like you said tough double bogey to take kind of going back and forth with Ben here that is a really good par this hole played a full stroke over par and there were no [Music] birdies hole nine 469 ft this is a par four shooting hitting the Gap as best you can getting down as far as you can and then it’s kind of a pick your line um there’s a couple different lines here to work with to get to this long basket this all seems to be a great example of why getting some distance off the te can be helpful cuz even if you go with a shorter shot there’s a lot of trees protecting the basket so being up further kind of the ideal play here that seemed to work out is that a little local line over there yeah this this is more of what I imagined here and this is smoked oh wow huge skip too for Ben full Flex forehand that’s going to be that might be a jump putt for him 469 foot hole full flight forehand I would think might have some sort of outside look yeah Ethan sarly smoked M man I don’t know if I’d have the confidence to try and rip a forehand up this guy seems fun to watch yeah a little overturn from Connor but really four four solid drives on this one can I have to go over the short basket that was just on that tree though the whole way looking like it had a good Pace on it just see what these guys are looking at not a lot of options I mean there’s a ton of options but none of them are really great all kind of equally mediocre but Ethan found one he liked there that was a nice up shot and we we have haven’t even gotten to Ben’s t uh t-shot yet yeah good point here we are nice and stress free little chip forehand yeah this definitely seems like the kind of whole beneficial to try to bite off a good amount off the te and get yourself that nice stress free 150ft shot as opposed to that 260t approach where you have to hit a gap going into the green makes things a lot harder to score low never really had a chance but he was dealing with some below cealing there so here’s Connor for his par good knockdown with Ben sitting right by the basket you don’t want to give him two strokes on this one definitely not could not knock that one down and yeah unless Ben does something crazy here I think we’re going to be all tied up at the top again just like we started this round with uh just nine holes to go yeah and this this is definitely the moment you can feel the card the energy shift a little bit where you know people are starting to talk to their caddies like thinking about all the shots cuz nine holes left to play this is anyone’s game yet definitely anyone’s game especially the three guys we’ve got on our card in the midst of a battle Ben Connor and Ethan still looking to make a push late looking at the rest of the top 10 we’ve got the guys on the Chase card still keeping themselves in it jockeying for position and looking to Come Away with a strong finish here at the
