not a whole lot went wrong for Rory
today except for a couple of t- shots
including this one here at hole number
seven playing a beautiful round of golf
to this point he had started at number
10 and this one is headed
left and you see the ball
bounce question is where did it cross
and that
became a point of
contention
let’s hear the discussion
now yeah yeah and I’m pretty comfortable
that I thought that it did no sorry it
landed above the L
yeah that it that it that landed above
the red line yeah everyone that I’m
hearing that had eyes on it which again
is not what matters he saying they’re
100% certain landed below line but if
you saw I that’s that’s all I’m saying
everybody yeah who are you talking about
who’s
everybody TV all these guys they didn’t
see anything they’re saying on their
eyes they didn’t see it on camera
they’re saying what they saw which again
is like it doesn’t mean anything it’s
it’s what you it’s what you guys think
I’ve been over there you
the we got a camera on this side or a
camera good how are
you I think that my ball BS above the
red line but we’re not it’s not
definitive or like they’re not I’m
pretty comfortable that it did but we’re
trying to check with TV and they can’t
they can’t orando you don’t know where
it went in but it went in right it went
in I’m point I’m just trying to figure
right if it they said they didn’t have a
deuce is trying to look at it right now
they didn’t have a really good
point they’re going to look at it they
didn’t have a really good point where it
went
in radar coming in offering opinion on
18 I don’t I don’t mean be a hypocrite
on I’m just saying I heard people
they’re they’re going with media and
they’re saying the media people that are
back there on the tea are saying they
were certain that’s why I thought like
hey should we check so that you don’t
take a wrong drop I want to do the right
thing I don’t think there’s any doubt
that I think we all agree that it
crossed some

land all right Johnson Wagner is out at
the seventh hole live right now they
were debating just exactly where that
ball landed was it below the red line or
outside the red line uh Johnson how did
you see it and what can you tell
us well I saw it happen live we were on
our early Live come from coverage rich
and and I saw the ball bounce and
honestly I’m sad to say I’ve hit this
shot here before this is a very Johnson
shot not a very Rory shot I found Rory’s
divot right here I’ve marked the line
where it crossed I’m going to try to
throw three balls and we’re going to try
to recreate this we we got some great
cameramen out here it’s late at night
but I’m going to throw three balls I’m
going to throw one up here on the flat
one where I think it landed right here
on the bank and one inside the penalty
area and what I’m hoping to prove is
that if the ball landed clearly it
bounced and if it landed inside the
penalty area there’s no way that this
camera over here will have picked it up
now I know I’ve got a cannon for an arm
brandle but I don’t know that I can
match Rory Mary’s ball speed with a
driver in hand and let’s also remember
he said he said it himself that it was a
low hook so a low Hook is not going to
bounce very high in the air ball one is
going to go right here up high on this
Hillside on a flatter
spot that actually stayed out of the
penalty area and I almost went in when I
tripped where I think it landed is right
here on this big
Bank bounce pretty high looks pretty
good and now I’m going to aim just
inside the penalty area and I think this
Ball’s going to kick immediately left in
the hazard and we will not pick it up
from this
camera you guys tell me which one that
most replicated what Rory
did well I’d say the middle one uh
Johnson but you do have a cannon for the
arm that was uh you’re going to have to
ice that baby down later on tonight CU I
expect you to be pitching again tomorrow
night uh we can’t have our starters on
the bench all week uh but uh but but but
again you watched it with the rest of us
we saw it bounce uh and then Paul went
out and took a picture of the bank and
Paul what did you see I mean right right
beneath the the red line what it’s
pretty steeply sloped right yeah I mean
the whole side of it there where uh
Johnson is standing is very very steep
uh it’s hard to know I mean there’s
nothing definitive here we didn’t have a
good camera angle uh there was no
volunteer over that side which probably
there should have been uh to keep an eye
on on on on balls bouncing there and
it’s just one of those things where you
have to trust the three players um and
and say between them they’ve got to come
to a common ground and I wouldn’t read
too much into it I wouldn’t overplay it
I don’t think anybody was wrong um and I
think they found what was probably the
right decision in the end um but I what
I did like was was Victor and and and
Jordan coming in uh to have a discussion
about it uh not taking it for granted
and um also you know Rory was quite open
to what they had to say I didn’t think
he was closed in any way and arguing
against them so it’s one of these things
that happens and it’s one of these
things that makes the game so great is
that you know the the uh there’s no
referee in this instance and it’s down
to the three players to get to the right
place and and and make the right
decision it’s part and partial of
professional golf and I I think that a
lot has been made of it’s certainly on
social media it’s been blown up into a
huge big deal and I don’t I don’t see it
as that big a deal one those what was
the inference you know if if they were
reading this you know you know with some
more negative thoughts what what were
they after that well that the Rory got
away with one yeah I I think it also
because there was a dispute on 18 as
well remember he hit a pull hook on 18
that went in the water and they spent
four or five minutes on that t box
trying to determine how far up he
carried before he dropped it we saw the
shot earlier where he dropped it at 300
yards out and was able to get it on the
green um so there was a dispute that
maybe it just didn’t carry the water at
all and he would have had to either ret
it or drop it on the front of the te and
that would have been a different story
so then you roll on the exact same
player with water again on the left on
seven and you know the guys are going
wait a minute let’s have a chat about
this well let’s uh play the rest of this
it’s kind of fascinating how it all
played out and ultimately how how they
resolved it here’s how it went
down I was looking 15 yards ahead so
when it hit ground I I wasn’t
even I mean I was watching it and it was
they have no evidence so you guys got to
go with what you saw okay all right so
that’s on again it’s like 18 is what you
guys think there I’m comfortable that it
crossed some land I don’t know where it
actually pitch I have no
idea I agree I mean I pretty certain
that it did Pitch above so did you drop
it on just where it would have
crossed
so I would say yeah I would say I
probably I’m dropping it slightly back
of where the ball kicked in the ball
kicked in yeah I think the ball kicked
in for a rough for sure right like your
ball that’s why I’m sort of I’m sort of
trying to split the difference and like
so you’re going to keep the point
between you and the hole and go back
well so if you’re gonna if you’re gonna
use yeah this the easiest place it could
have crossed so if you’re gonna if
you’re gonna use the point across we’re
going to have to go up there but if
you’re going to keep yeah I mean if
you’re going to keep the point with you
in the hole then you got to come back
here right yeah so if you’re going to
use the point it’s where where it last
cross yeah but it was drawn that way
yeah it was it was it was like hooking
that way so you have to estimate where
you take your cross and that’s Point
okay and did anyone see where I mean no
they all have a I mean it was sort of
low it wasn’t carrying very
far you know like I would say where you
are Victor it was probably yeah it was
probably carrying a good 30 short of
that that’s probably fair I mean did the
volunteer not see where the ball went in
he didn’t see anything okay
okay to me it’s I believe it crossed
over the Turtles back there if it didn’t
land on above the red
line either up there or it’s back there
you know splitting the difference I
don’t is there was where is where you
are a place where it’s where it would
have easily crossed like I’m saying are
you in the point yeah yes then that
would be a safe spot on where it would
have could have crossed even if it
crossed by the turtles right is that
right I don’t know yeah the turt was
like yes
this
side yeah but again that’s I’m like I
think it pitched above the red line but
I’m trying to be but we’re not certain
so I’m trying to be safe yeah be safe
use what’s the safest option yeah that’s
sort of what I’m trying to do you think
that’s going back that’s going back but
whatever you whatever you if you feel
like this is too close or you feel like
this is pretty good I me cuz if it
crosses up there it probably does
interject up there so I’m I’m fine with
that okay that
yeah are you good I’m good okay yeah I
I’m I don’t know where it landed so I
don’t I’m just trying to I don’t can’t
see where you are I would say it
probably cross land so where’s the
safest place to cross land yeah yeah it
opens right here look I would say this
isy that makes sense makes
sense yeah good
yeah so that took more than eight
minutes to resolve itself uh Johnson you
have a little bit
more I do I spoke with the pj2 rules
official John mutch who came out onto
the scene and I think a lot was made of
that havland and spe and maroy there was
a lot of contention between the whole
situation and John told me the only
reason it sounded like that is because
those two players were on the right side
and it is some 50 60 yards over to that
side of the Fairway so that the the loud
voices that’s what it was and the only
other thing is that shot he hit from
here I’m telling you it is extremely
above the feet it’s a shame he three
puted and made double but that arguably
the shot from this spot could have been
the best shot he hit all day
long
