Every day at The Greens in Redmond, Phyllis Wampler is first off the tee. And her daily routine has turned out to be an inspiration for others.

sometimes I can put and sometimes I hit
some good shots and sometimes I
don’t she might not hit the ball 300
yards off the tee she might not have
tiger Phil short game but stroke for
stroke she’s the most impressive and the
most inspiration
and while we’re handing out Awards give
her the most popular
[Music]
too she’s inspiration to so many people
Phyllis Wampler is quite the sight to
see 91 years old and golfing every day
if the course is open we’re playing
oh nice shot phis she’s first off the
tea every morning that the greens and
Redman Golf Course is open rain snow or
shine she’s there alongside her current
golf buddies Allan and Ken Phyllis and I
have been playing together about 15
years we’ve had several different people
join us off and on and some of the older
Fells that have passed on I don’t play
with the women cuz they don’t like to
play
early I’m just one of the boys you you
might think she uses a cart to get
around the course nope you might think
she’s only playing nine holes nope you
might think she holds up the groups
behind her double nope we got quite a
reputation around here because quite
often there’ll be several groups at the
clubhouse ready to go we have the
automatic first tea time and when we
when we finish we’re we’re usually six
or seven holes ahead of the next group
Phyllis and Allen along with their old
playing partner Ken who now Cades for
Phillis are the fastest group around the
course every day we don’t do all the
ceremony stuff that that the guys do um
yeah we just get out early and go they
average just over two hours around we do
go fast
there are no practice swings no getting
down to read the greens no taking the
pins out this is one notch below speed
golf you get up hit your ball and start
walking we just like to step up and hit
the
ball but there are a few stops permitted
along the way two kinds of dog food for
the
dogs this is Rudy and Rusty
Phyllis golfs 300 plus days a year at
the greens the only reason it’s not
365 the course closes when the ground’s
frozen many times we played when there
haven’t been a single other golfer out
here than just us it gives me a reason
to get up in the
morning this way I get my exercise and
my camaraderie with my buddies and yeah
she began golfing at the age of 25 and
never quit it came fairly easy to me I
found out this is fun her last 25 years
have been at the greens in Redmond I
never get tired of it we never get bored
playing here it’s just a
challenge inspiring everyone that
crosses her path a lot of people that
don’t even play golf uh they’ll come out
from the houses here on the course
they’ll say you’re out playing it’s so
nice to see you Phyllis out playing and
I mean you can tell that that really
inspires them and I feel like it’s an
honor to play with Phyllis they’ll ask
in the clubhouse how old is she and when
they he tells them then they’ll come out
and say you know we we’re amazed and but
I don’t feel you know I’m just doing
what what I’m doing and she’s got no
plans to stop anytime soon but she does
know how she’d like to eventually call
it quits I’m I want to have a heart
attack here and die on the 18th green
that’s my goal not not next week or
anything but
someday so the next time you’re feeling
a little unmotivated or maybe you just
need a little pickme up picture Phyllis
Wampler on the tea and power walking
around the course or better yet stop by
and say hi I guarantee you leave with a
smile on your face we just like to play
every day and and um hopefully we’ll
just do it for a bunch more years hey
Wy she’s a great girl

  1. I played today with a gentleman who is 79 years ol. He walked, carried his bag and shot 77. All of you who do things like this are an inspiration to the rest of us. For me, 65 and keeping on walking. It is a bit of play or perish.

  2. She is better than most of the men's club I played for. I love this womans dedication and I truly am inspired and hope I can still play like she does after all the years .

  3. I hope she plays golf beyond 100 years old. Phyllis is a role model for kindness and friendship. Rename the golf course in her honor once she elevates to the next level. Callaway should sponsor her!

  4. Someone please get her a copy of Within Heaven's Gates by Rebecca Springer.Please.😇

  5. God bless her, not complaining or coming up with excuses like some of the 30 year olds I work with, she’s on the move!!!!!
