UConn keeps dominating, what Will Levis needs from No. 7, what made you say oh no in sports, and more.

it is 10:01 good morning I’m Lucas
panika from the 1045 The Zone Studios
the Yukon huskies are national champions
for back-to-back Seasons beating Purdue
Monday night
75-60 despite Zack Edy putting up 37
points and 10 rebounds Yukon had an
average margin of victory of over 20
points in this tournament run and their
season ends at 37 and3 in the NFL
veteran safety Logan Ryan announced his
retirement this morning at 33 years old
Ryan’s 11-year career included two Super
Bowl titles with the New England
Patriots as well as a three- season
stint with the Tennessee Titans from
2017 to 2019 including an AFC
Championship game Run for all your
foundation repair and waterproofing
needs visit
I was really concerned that I was going
to have to walk in here today and talk
about Purdue winning a national
championship I was scared in the first
half I was scared of Zack EDI and then
Yukon did what it’s done all tournament
long and just put its opponent to sleep
please in the second half what’s wrong
never a doubt ah a little bit of a doubt
in the first half but it was never a
doubt it was a tightly contested game
until it wasn’t and Yukon continued to
win by an average margin of victory of
over 23 points in tournament play they
do the rare enough thing which is to
repeat as national champions in the
men’s side of things the first time
we’ve seen it since the earlys and
Florida 17 years ago congratulations to
Yukon not like they need it they’re very
spoiled as a fan base I hate them six
since
1999 is disgusting it makes me sad
pretty good but for them for Danny
Hurley who’s just been who’s whose
confidence I understand why it would
turn some people off I love how much
self-belief this man approaches every
question he’s asked with and we’ll hear
some Danny Hurley audio here in just a
little bit because of course Kentucky
fans now want him very badly for the job
opening that Coach Cal left with them
good morning hope everybody’s doing well
you can jump in on the phone lines if
you want to 61573
7104 on this Tuesday you have access to
the F&M Bank chat as always Facebook
YouTube Twitter and twitch appreciate
you con allowing some of us to go to bed
slightly earlier I stayed with it I I
thought about it several times are you
one of those people that has to watch
One Shining Moment no not really me
neither I can watch it the next day I I
got over it I mean the the one sh
Shining Moment cuz they just they take
so long and I understand they’re trying
to stretch it out they’re trying to keep
their television rating like I get the
formula but you know it’s not like I
can’t see it in two and a half minutes
on Twitter the next morning it’s kind of
like the eclipse you feel like the
eclipse is kind of ruined for Gen Z
because they can just see a picture of
it on their phone afterwards on Tik
Tok I uh not not a DI Hard One Shining
Moment person though it is a nice thing
that they do at the end of every
tournament but Yukon just smacked him
absolutely smacked him around and the
thing that impresses me the most and why
it’s so hard to do because Lucas I I
don’t know if you remember last year’s
Yukon
team but this is a a considerably
different group of players that Danny
Hurley just went about winning the
championship with yeah they had to
replace like their three best players
from that round correct
so as they go about this it speaks to
one the program and the culture that
Hurley is somebody like that has been
able to Institute there and Yukon has
always been as we mentioned six since
1999 is incredibly successful it’s not
like it’s not like they need to have the
debate around Yukon as a blue blood they
are that under three different coaches
right what other
program can say something like that
football
included well a program that we’re going
to talk about here in a little bit uh as
to whether it’s a better job job than
Yukon or not Kentucky has Kentucky ever
had a run like that six titles not in
that kind of a span with three different
coaches that’s what speaks to the
program yeah right like rup won all
those titles Bear Bryant Nick Sabel
investment how much they care about it
the thing that they know that they do
the best that they want to make sure
that they can continue to do better than
everybody else and Danny Hurley made
sure to emphasize that in his postgame
press conference with uh or postgame
interview with Tracy wolson of CBS where
he made sure to reiterate the amount of
resources that Yukon gives them to be
able to do what it is that they do but
the thing about that game is the same
thing that they’ve done to every other
oppon opponent in the tournament so far
they just out execute you for longer
it’s that simple they keep scoring when
you when you hit droughts they continue
to be fundamentally sound when you get
tired and they do it for the entirety of
a game at a higher level than you’re
capable of doing it they did the exact
same thing to Purdue which absolutely
for you know I say a lot of things
tongue and- cheek about Zack Edan Purdue
and you know I I really do I do hate it
for them because they haven’t been to
the championship game since 1980 it’s
been a long time the Big 10 by the way I
didn’t realize that a big 10 team hadn’t
won the title in 20s something years
that’s insane to me that’s supposed to
be one of the best conferences in
college basketall basketball and they
haven’t been able to accomplish bleep
anyway Purdue deserves all the credit in
the world for getting there and they are
not in the same class as Yukon was this
year I don’t think they’re going to be
able to get him uh Danny Hurley I don’t
think ky’s going to be able to get him
out of uh is it stores Connecticut is
that where Yukon is I think I have no
idea be totally honest just somewhere in
the nebula state of Connecticut I I
thought the whole state was just
Hartford just Bristol where ESPN’s
campus is and onead and Bristol there
are only two cities in Connecticut to my
knowledge did you hear Dan Hurley after
the game uh I saw Clips going around on
social media but let’s hear from Dan
Hurley on the idea of potentially taking
another job Dan I I hope I don’t
misquote you but you said out on the
court something about Yukon giving you
all the resources you need um can can we
interpret that to mean you intend to be
back at Yukon next year you’re not going
to entertain any conversations with
anybody else that might have a job
coming
open yeah yeah yeah I don’t think that’s
a concern you know my wife uh you should
have her answer
that
yeah we can maybe arrange a press
conference for Mrs early in the morning
congratulations coach yeah thank you
yeah she’ll she’ll answer that question
better than I
can laughs at them open ly laughs at
them what do you mean I’m going to go
somewhere else did you see what I just
did we got this thing cooking I mean
who’s who’s to tell Danny Hurley that he
can’t repe or thre repeat in college
basketball again it’s it’s highly
unlikely the tournament is so random and
at some point everybody gets got but
this is a level of dominance that this
particular sport hasn’t seen in a little
while and he tried to warn us he warned
us four years ago what did he say four
years ago cuz the quote that comes to
mind for me when you say that is what he
said earlier in the tournament which is
we make a difficult tournament look easy
and I loved it years hate him for that
kind of stuff but I love it four years
ago early in his tenure Yukon had just
lost to I believe Villanova it was in
2020 and he said after the game you
better get us now because we’re coming
the Dion Sanders we’re coming that
that’s what it looks like when a program
is actually coming down the pipe in a
dominant way because Dan Hurley warned
all us four years ago this is the time
to get us right now in 2020 and he was
right they have been Untouchable for the
last two years and the thing about it is
and I’m pretty sure Ernie Johnson said
it in the post game somebody had
mentioned it in the postgame and then I
went and looked at the box score
afterwards just to kind of reaffirm it
it’s not like you can assign one MVP for
Yukon it was as complete a performance
by everybody out on the floor Tristan
knew Newton Cam Spencer Stefan Castle
Donovan kingan and and the battle of the
two SF
Footers it it was competitive for a
while and again and by the way like I
the Matt Painter quote about people not
knowing basketball if they think Zack
Ed’s just good because he’s big I really
do give Zack EDI all the credit in the
world even though I dislike the program
that he plays for historically the dude
doesn’t come off the court you know how
hard that has to be to play the amount
of minute that Zach Edy does at that
size and and listen there were some
times where clearly he’s worn down and
it plays to Connecticut’s Advantage
because they play with great pace and
they were as efficient as any team to
win a National Championship in the
modern era buy points per game and bu
percentage this was one of the best
college basketball teams that we’ve ever
seen win a title to me that just means
he never gets in foul trouble he’s never
coming off the court which I don’t know
how is possible I saw I can’t I can’t
remember who put it out on social media
last night the idea whichever ref calls
a calls a 3se second violation on Zack
Ed can run can win president in
2024 one day one day it’ll happen no
it’s over he’s on to the NBA interesting
parallel between the men’s and women’s
national title game where kind of the
star of the tournament the singular star
like Zack Eed like we talked about the
most famous men’s college basketball
player this season whether you love him
or hate him or think he’s only good cuz
he’s tall he is indisputably the most
famous star in men’s college basketball
the most polarizing right and he got his
37 and 10 in the national championship
Caitlyn Clark indisputably the biggest
star in women’s college hoops arguably
college hoops in general she got hers
with 30 in the national title game both
were just outclassed by the team on the
other side that has just been a machine
start to finish all season in South
Carolina and in
Yukon 6157 37145 is the number if you
want to jump in uh throughout the course
of the show a reminder that we are out
on the road again tomorrow busy week for
us Bud we are out at Hatty bees at the
factory in Franklin tomorrow uh both us
and the Morning Show because Hatty bees
is debuting a new breakfast menu and I
know Lucas is excited to just basically
go are you going as soon as the morning
show go what time are you getting to
Hatty bees because you acted like you
were going to sit there andat 530 5:45
a.m. what could they possibly have it
would get you to Hatty bees at 5:45 a.m.
a new hot chicken biscuit yeah that
would do it new Hot Chicken and Waffle
stack I can keep going oh you have the
menu should we go through the menu at
some point today you’ll hear it next

so we doing this we’re doing Bad Bunny
today yesterday was Morgan Wallen day in
celebration of his uh Antics on Broadway
celebration feels like the wrong word
why does it have to be like one artist
for the entire day like I don’t
understand why we can’t mix it up I play
one bump coming back at 10:20 and you’re
like oh this is what we’re doing today
well I’d just like to know that there’s
going to be some level of consistency to
the way that the show sounds it doesn’t
have to be the same artist but I’d like
you know a similar genre take take it
where take it where uh you want to take
it bud just don’t take it to 3ls
terrible Library that’s all I ask we’re
going all over the
place you said Megan went to a Bad Bunny
concert this weekend in Detroit she did
she’s had a great few days she went to
Bad Bunny on Saturday she got a 100%
view of the eclipse yesterday in Ohio as
did many of our Midwestern friends so
yes Bad Bunny sounded like it was a it
was a time you want to tell people where
we spent the
eclipse uh a Red Lobster but first two
rivers forward which was great Red
Lobster which was Red Lobster I’m still
so mad at you two for making me go to a
Red Lobster unless they would to spend
money on the show that I love Red
Lobster crab queso all about it the crab
queso was good we almost did it as a bit
we like drove by it we were like oh
let’s go be funny if we went to Red
Lobster I said it out loud jokingly and
then Bert whipped into the parking lot
very vigorously because he wanted to go
get shrimp scampy at 1:15 in the
afternoon this this is not what normal
people do as evidenced by the crowd in
Red Lobster uh which is not to say Kobe
our waiter was great great very nice guy
shout out Kobe yes shout out to Kobe at
the Mount Juliet Red Lobster uh but in
the meantime don’t make me go to a Red
Lobster at 1:15 in the afternoon ever
again during a solar eclipse it smelled
like crayons and I can’t figure out why
anyway I don’t think you would have
eaten anyway whereever we
went I would have eaten it ml Rose it
was right there right there guy had a
slice of pizza I’m set for the week I I
told you that Blaine peaked around the
corner to see how I was eating the
pizza anyway we’re not here to talk
about that we’re less than 3 weeks away
from the NFL draft kids it’s going to
drag on because the last three weeks
between now and the end of April always
seem to be this way but it is worth kind
of taking the temperature on a on a
weekly basis in the leadup to see what
the Vibes are and how people are viewing
your particular football team in this
case the Tennessee Titans now we have
talked about this the Titans and Joe alt
seem destined for one another almost as
much as Caleb Williams seems to be
destined for the Chicago Bears and we
don’t get the luxury of nail painting
controversies Lucas or pink phone cases
Joe Al not doing any of that to give us
something else to talk about around
Caleb Williams the way the Chicago
Sports Talk Radio is getting right now
not Joe Alon not asking for a percentage
of whatever team drafts him or whatever
the case may be not having a a father
who’s very involved in his business
decisions and things like that not
asking for unconventional rookie
contracts that don’t marry him to a team
for the foreseeable future all of which
are interesting that’s not what Joe Al
is doing but that does seem again to be
the most popular Mock Draft selection
for Jim Wyatt who went through 30 D
different draft analysts mock drafts to
put together what everybody else is
saying the Titans are going to do in the
first round so have you done this by
percentage I sure have okay let’s go 30
picks always 30 picks in Jim Wyatt’s
mock draft Roundup from various National
Outlets or NFL draft reporters analysts
insiders so out of 30 Buck how many do
you think picked Joe alt to the
Tennessee Titans with the seventh pick
in the draft I’m going to say 19 20
feels like two round of a number 21 oh
21 out of 30 went with Joe alt um there
were two players that were tied for
second in the mock draft Roundup with
two a piece you think you could name
them fashanu has to be the other one
wrong with two a piece nobody one one
one analyst Bucky Brooks of NFL Network
mocked fashanu to the Titans really okay
well Malik neighbors one really one
Malik neighbors pick at seven to the ti
are people just assuming he’s going to
be gone before s it was Luke Johnson of
nola.com from uh where Malik Neighbors
played his college football Louisiana
okay keep
going Bowers one one Brock Bowers mock
Andrew Erikson a fantasy pros was the
only one to mock Brock Bowers to the
Titans in Jim’s mock draft Roundup it’s
not a defensive guy is it keep going I
mean the best Edge guy on the board is
Dallas Dallas Turner two Dallas Turner
mocks two Dallas Turners okay yes can
you name the other one I don’t know if I
could at this point JC leam the right
tackle out of Alabama Alabama had two
mocked two JC leam picks to the Titans
uh the other ones were Byron Murphy the
Texas defensive tackle Calvin Watkins of
the Dallas Morning News mocked Murphy to
the Titans at s and amarius Mims Tyler
forers of sporting news mocked amarius
Mims the Georgia right tackle to the
Titans at 7even but yes 21 of 30 going
with Joe Al it feels like the Titans
have as consensus a first round pick
when it comes to the mock drafts as they
have been a long time since when like
since who when’s the last time the
Titans had
someone that was this commonly thought
of as that’s going to be the pick marot
Mariota that’s I mean that’s the last
time they’ve picked well no 2017 Corey
Davis at five but I mean Cory Davis
wasn’t the consent
best wide receiver I know he went before
any other wide receiver but was a great
wide receiver class no it was poor it
was him Mike Williams and who was the
other guy for Cincinnati didn’t John
Ross the 40 record time holder that was
broken by Xavier worthy yeah for sure
Mariota then with with one and two um
well I I don’t
remember I don’t remember what was being
discussed cuz I think Robinson traded
the number one overall pick in 2016 well
in advance of the draft I feel like the
Rams had possession of the number one
overall pick for enough time for people
to adjust their mock drafts accordingly
either way um
but the thing that could muck this up a
little bit so you had
mentioned looking through mock drafts
and I don’t know how how often are you
looking through mock drafts because
admittedly every once in a while
somebody will send me one on social
media I’ll I’ll peel through it just at
a curiosity and you know I’m not
necessarily going to give you a grade or
something like that but it it’s it’s
good to see what other people are
thinking and what other players I might
not have
considered how often are you looking
through mock drafts cuz admittedly I’m
not seeking them out very often not
seeking them out very often okay but you
have been looking at them enough to have
seen a percentage continue to mock Joe
alt where to the Titans no to the
Chargers saying elsewhere elsewhere yes
to the Chargers that seems to be the
most common second spot for Al land who
are currently two picks ahead of the
Tennessee Titans in the draft order now
why have we
dismissed the discussion around the
Chargers because they have quality
offensive linemen on their roster
presently they have equality left tackle
on the roster presently in particular
but the thing that we don’t know as a
part of this discussion is can uh can he
play right
tackle and would they take Joe alt at
left because what’s and I’m not going to
keep asking you questions for the
purposes of a call and response thing I
don’t know why I keep going down that
way but
the biggest difference in Los Angeles is
what it’s Jim
Harbaugh there is nothing more Jim
Harbaugh in the world than taking
another offensive lineman just to Road
grade people especially if he’s going to
try and make life easier on Justin
Herbert Greg Roman is his offensive
coordinator correct and they are known
for a particular kind of Smashmouth
football that would make all the sense
in the world to try and bump another a a
player over to the right side put Joe
alt at left and just try and run over
the top of people didn’t they sign Gus
Edwards as well this is going to be a
very runhe heavy system that Jim
Harbaugh is bringing from Michigan I
mean it’s not the same offense as as
Michigan is going to have but it’s a
similar philosophy and it’s who he’s
been the entire time at Stanford at at
San Francisco uh at Michigan and now in
Los Angeles with the Chargers it would
make a ton of sense the thing that none
of us locally are talking about is if
Jim Harbaugh does the most Jim Harbaugh
thing in the world doesn’t take a wide
receiver to replace Mike Williams and
Keenan Allen but goes left tackle with
Joe Alton instead can you imag buy it I
don’t buy it I can imagine it because
Jim Harbaugh is a weirdo but I don’t buy
it it’s not a weirdo that’s the most Jim
Harbaugh thing ever I don’t buy it the
the the need for a receiver is is too
much I and and Jim Harbaugh also coached
under Trent balky in San Francisco and
we’ve talked about Trent balk history in
dra or not drafting wide receivers
highly and there was some contention
there between Jim Harbaugh and Trent
balky so I don’t think we should look at
Jim Harbaugh’s entire career as a head
coach in the NFL and say well he doesn’t
really prioritize receivers as much I’m
not saying that he’s not going to
prioritize the receiver but I’m saying
that because you bring up his last stint
in the NFL and how famously that flamed
out because him and Trent balky got into
it and I think there was a dust up with
uh with the Niners ownership group um
involved in trying to just basically
clean up the mess and Harbaugh is a
grading individual what does Jim
Harbaugh have now he has Personnel
control they hired a front office member
from the Baltimore Ravens who Jim knows
to be the general manager after they
hired Harbaugh to be the head
coach it it makes more sense to go with
the wide receiver and it will tell us a
lot I think about how the gym Harbaugh
arrow is going to go but in the same
breath as we’re talking about what are
you building for if you’re the Los
Angeles Chargers with the fifth overall
selection you you feel like you’re in a
pretty solid place but we say that every
damn year about La every year about
their roster and they continue to
disappoint s square up on the F&M Bank
chat says Josh Palmer and Quinton
Johnson make up by far the worst wide
receiver room in the league right now
and everybody in the world knew that the
Titans needed a wide receiver last year
and they didn’t take one until the
seventh round I’m just saying like we
can afford to look at this a little
unconventionally even though a wide
receiver at in this particular class can
you imagine the discourse if they passed
up say Marvin Harrison Jr for Joe Al can
you
imagine but you have to think about this
kind of stuff given the changing parts
around this I don’t think that you can
dismiss it just because it makes the
most sense Lucas I really don’t I just
don’t buy it I just don’t buy and I get
why most people wouldn’t because nobody
else is talking about Jo all going
anywhere but the
Titans it makes all the sense in the
world is why I think something else is
going to
happen 615 737
1045 is the number if you want to join
the conversation um people uh in the F&M
Bank chat on Facebook YouTube Twitter
and twitch are nominating their own
worse wide receiver rooms I’ll get to
those here in just a second a reminder
that the Braves are taking the tourist
Park experience on the road with the
Braves country road trip and they are
making their way to Tennessee this
weekend April 12th and the 13th you can
come watch the Atlanta Braves versus the
Marlins at Scoreboard Bar and Grill at
four corers with 3hl on April 12th
starting at 3M and take part in some fun
activities and win some prizes for more
information visit 1045 thees zone.com
events today so worse wide receiver
rooms than the
Chargers we’ve had uh a nom a nominee
for the Chargers Preston Penn on YouTube
says the bills are worse Mack Holland
Curtis Samuel khil Shakur and Justin
shorter that’s
it I I feel like most people like khil
Shakur and Curtis Samuel is a solid
player M Hollins did the Titans dirty a
couple years ago in a game they won
against the Raiders but not for lack of
Mt Holland’s effort it’s not a strong
wide receiver room I’m not saying it’s
good it’s much better with Stefan Diggs
in it but they’re going to draft
somebody like that’s
not Buffalo’s decision is do you think
Buffalo has an easier decision than does
La I know they’re drafting in
substantially different spots in the
first round and we spend so much time
emphasizing the first round when the
bulk of the draft the bulk of your
roster is built out on days two and
three but it does feel like Buffalo and
and Los Angeles are kind of in a weird
they’re in different spots because the
Chargers haven’t been competing at a
level like the bills have in the AFC and
this is a part of the equation that the
Titans have to figure out where where
we’re looking at the way that the Texans
are constructing their roster and Cory
Curtis came in here last week I believe
it was on Wednesday and said no they’re
not thinking about the Titans when
they’re signing or trading for Stefan
Diggs they’re thinking about the the
bills the Ravens the Texans the Bengals
or rather the the Chiefs the Bengals
that’s who the Texans are trying to
compete within the the immediate because
they think they’ve got a good enough
team already to win the division whereas
the Titans are trying to put together a
roster to win the division first and
then get to a place where they can
compete with the bigger powers in the
AFC right now uh Russell just asked me
to name two players on the Braves I can
name Ozuna I don’t think I could name
another Brave can you oh come on can
you how is auna not the first guy that
pops into your head oh that would have
been the more obvious one wouldn’t
it so well I’m not I’m not going to be
in for uh scoreboard watching the bra’s
game that’s why 3hl is there Bren an
Astros fan is he yes how does that
happen he’s from Houston oh I didn’t
know that work with the guy long enough
you think I’d know that anyway Darren
says seriously man I don’t watch
baseball are you kidding
me anyway what in sports made you say oh
no we’ll get into that coming up next do
we have anything for people to win this
week Lucas what do you think we usually
have in the last couple of weeks that
does not make me feel optimistic if
you’re asking me that do you think we
have something to give away I think we
might what do you think it is could it
be something hny be’s related
maybe this is not help okay we’ve
stalled long enough for me to pull it up
two

at Bridgestone on October 18th yes
indeed so you can think about what in
sports made you say oh no coming up next
and we’ll get into that uh a reminder
that the Titans are having media
availability tomorrow I’m not going to
be there this time uh because the
players are not available for interviews
um one-on-one interviews which makes
sense for the radio show to be down
there when they are the way that we’ve
done with Calvin Ridley and Leger Sneed
but Brian Callahan uh dard Wilson and uh
Nick hults are all going to speak to the
media tomorrow in the noon hour at 12:15

your hands say oh no while you’re
watching sports this weekend Sports
adjacent sports related real simple for
the opportunity to win some uh Black
Keys tickets in The Head and the Heart
that is a great prize two tickets
available for you we’ll get to your
phone calls here in just a second um
mine and I guess it’s not really Sports
it’s science but the whole world seems
to over do you feel like the eclipse was
over covered like do you feel like the
eclipse takes up too much dialogue over
the course of it because God help me I
love ion eagle and I love bill raffy and
I love the the TNT CBS broadcast crew
for the national championship game but
if they made one more Zack Edy getting
eclipsed joke I was going to scream
going to scream the amount of puns jokes
uh sports related headlines that were
bad you just terrible I don’t even know
if people pay attention to New York or
newspaper headlin that aren’t the New
York Post anymore but the amount of bad
headlines that I saw Eclipse related for
a thing that Bert Lucas well Burton
Lucas dragged me to a Red Lobster to
look at this thing and then they
scurried out into the parking lot to
look up at what what did you even see
you didn’t see anything you saw clouds
and you probably couldn’t even see that
because you were covered in shrimp
scampy butter from Red Lobster at 1:15
in the afternoon listen if you’re going
to despise something and talk down on it
you have to talk down on something
that’s not as cool as an eclipse yeah
everybody’s talking about it everybody
making jokes and whatnot but that’s what
happened have you ever noticed they do
that on May 1st too it’s going to be May
or or uh May fourth with the with all
the Star Wars jokes anytime and those
happen every year an eclipse is not
going to be uh in totality or or or 95%
like it was yesterday again for like
until for uh 2045 so you don’t have to
worry about these jokes anymore I know
another eclipse will happen in two years
but not in this area so hopefully
hopefully ion Eagle doesn’t make another
joke and offend Buck because God forbid
somebody tried to be topical with what
they’re overdone no it’s not an ieagle
problem how was it overdone it happened
one day it was one day
everybody problem and it’s not just for
one day people have been talking about
this thing for a month you just don’t
pay attention to the news a month oh my
dude it takes you two hours to watch 60
Minutes don’t start with me about the
news a month ago on March 9th we opened
the show with the eclipse they have been
talking about this on local news on
national news because just because the
world happens around you to and neither
of you seem to notice at any particular
Point does not mean that people have not
been talking about being able to
scientifically predict the damn moon
going in front of the Sun for the better
part of a month now they know that the
next one is happening in 20144 you don’t
think they were talking about the
eclipse a month ago stop it are you are
you tired of cicas also are you tired of
El Nino are you Tire okay tired of the
weather I went to Los Angeles I get
blown away you were always tired of
something this you know I think I don’t
know how we get rid of him maybe we just
stop hanging out with him because he can
make anything fun no longer fun yeser
example prime example we’re walking into
a fine eating establishment yesterday
it’s a Red Lobster it is exactly it’s
Red Lobster it’s not red scallop or or
red shrimp Lobster it is CRM de Crim
then why’ you get shrimp BEC because you
told me you weren’t paying I’m not
paying $45 for the surf and turf if I’ve
got to pay for both said turf their
whole thing it cost $18 for a whole
plate of lobster or something like that
it wouldn’t be a whole plate it would be
a smaller one but I digress because I
don’t know how you go in there why are
you here why am I here I’m always here
know I don’t do anything else this is
all I
have anyway let me talk about Red
Lobster Red Lobster fine establishment
if you would like to spend any money I
will affectionately brand myself as
robster the lobster and I I will be a
shield for those cheddar bay biscuits
and what I’m upset about and what I
think the dumbest thing in sports this
week I didn’t nobody asked you you’re
not supposed to be here your show ended
an hour and 45 minutes ago it’s not D
thinky Sports though oh no my oh no for
this weekend Sports is how many people
would like to pooo on Red Lobster Lucas
what did you have to eat there I had
some fried flounder how was it it was
tasty it was tasty how about those
biscuits were those biscuits good the
biscuits were tasty and the water was
always refilled I rest my case Red
Lobster and and didn’t have to wait for
a table did we didn’t have to wait that
long for our food to get there you know
why no because everybody else that was
in the Red Lobster was on death’s
doorstep they are preparing for their
last meal the average age of the Red
Lobster clientele at 1 in the afternoon
on a Monday is 85 years old all people
all of those people you admit it you saw
that woman that looked like she escaped
from the nursing home in the parking lot
she asked you if she missed the eclipse
she was an hour and a half late this is
the kind of people that are in Red
Lobster at 1:00 in the afternoon it’s
got nothing to do with the service Kobe
was a gem he was phenomenal his
recommendation was not my favorite
that’s okay that’s not on him I just
don’t want to eat at Red Lobster for
lunch so unall for God I feel like
anytime something becomes interesting or
cool to people and they begin to talk
about it you default to I hate this
thing and it sucks or vice versa if
there’s something that is bad and people
say something is bad you want to take
the opposite angle like somebody saying
the bills have a terrible wide receiver
room and you trying to convince us oh
Matt Collins is a pretty good player
like anybody would be afraid of Matt
Collins in the Bills wide receiver was
afraid of Matt Collins he got dusted by
Mt Collins Titans fans fear Mt Collins
If khil Shakur was your first wide
receiver in Tennessee Buck would be like
please draft Malik neighbors we need I
need I cannot stand to watch another
boring brand of football next year I
don’t know why you turned into Richard
Nixon but that’s what it is you are a
Richard when it comes to things like
this Buck we need you to shape up the
government could be handing out free
money and he’s like now everyone’s
financially stable what’s it no one’s
special anymore you you just not trying
to keep my Thum on the poor people out
there it’s Sean conry now it’s slowly
descending into Sean conry stop it they
both have a bit no I don’t want to do
it’s not even Shan connory it’s an
impression of Shan connory done by uh
done by the SNL cast member that did
Shawn connory it’s not even Shan connory
at this point what made you say oh no
this whole segment let’s let’s take some
calls
Shadows come to Red Lobster it’s Lobster
F they just got so much run on a meal
that I absolutely hated yesterday we got
we got to monetize this
somehow Chuck and Clarksville is up
next hey Buck I guess my oh no moment
was when the announcement came out about
John Calipari going to Arkansas and I
could just Envision all those fans that
wanted him fired going out and buying
the confetti cannons and they’re
shooting them off and dancing in the
streets and Lexington and then all of a
sudden Matt Jones comes out with a tweet
saying Calipari is trying to come back
to UK and they have to get the brooms
Out start Sweeting Up ca trying to put
them back in the Cannons and waiting a
little longer to celebrate the move of
Cal party leaving so that’s my oh no
moment when Mel come out with that tweet
about Calipari wanting to come back to
Kentucky and all the fans just all
almost collectively sign with oh no
appreciate the call check uh I’m going
to put you back on hold for the
opportunity to win those
tickets so Matt Jones are now Nemesis
that Matt Jones has no idea that he’s
not our Nemesis at all Matt Jones
doesn’t know that we exist but Matt
Jones is number one in the Barrett
rankings and we’re coming from him he is
our Nemesis we are not his Nemesis
correct uh so he screwed up
substantially it sounds like so he made
it seem like no no no that’s not what’s
What’s Happening Here is Matt Jones is
all Matt Jones has done is tweet an hour
go and say as of this morning calip
Perry still has not informed UK he is
resigning until that happens Kentucky
has to wait to officially reach out to
coaches all Matt Jones has done is say
hey Cal is still the coach at Kentuck or
yeah at Kentucky everything has been
reported about Arkansas the 5-year deal
his relationship with the Tyson family
all of these things and we’re talking
about it as though this is a done deal
but it hasn’t happened yet and the only
time we’ve seen Cal since is with the
reporter chasing him down while he’s
trying to walk his dog and he won’t
provide a comment a reporter I think it
was a I don’t know if it was a fan video
I think it was just like a fan I thought
saw local I saw local news tweeting it
out in in Lexington so I wasn’t sure
because he’s being chased by TMZ
Lexington but that’s basically Matt
Jones is saying hey he is still the
coach of Kentucky at this moment he has
not officially informed the school he is
stepping down until he does so they
cannot find his replacement Jason in
Murphy’s Boro for the opportunity to win
some tickets what’s up Jason hey guys uh
well he took mine so I’m I’m want to go
back with one that kind of happened last
week but I wasn’t able to get it on
there last week which was uh the twin
Minnesota Twins uh I think it was a
maybe a pitcher Brighton pugston he goes
to leave the dug out and not paying
attention and uh going uh running down
the side was this saage race and he
about just gets taken out by these
sausages it just a hilarious thing to
see but it’s more like a maybe maybe oh
no but yes I did I uh did see this video
going around it’s like the uh it’s like
the The Sounds they do the the race with
Johnny Cash and Reba McIntyre or
whatever um I can’t remember exactly it
sounds like a do George Jones a Polish
sausage almost took out a baseball
player it was very very uh quick
reaction time to avoid it so not quite a
full Oho all right we’ll Lucas will
determine who gets the tickets during
the commercial break coming up next the
biggest threat to NAB Joe Al we talked
about that but we can get into Kentucky
and whether they are actually a better
job than Yukon at this point or not
Danny Hurley doesn’t seem to think so

panika from the 1045 The Zone Studios
the Yukon huskies are national champions
for back-to-back Seasons beating Purdue
Monday night 75 to 60 despite Z
putting up 37 points and 10 boards Yukon
had an average margin of victory of over
23 points per game in this tournament
run and their season ends at 37 and3
veteran safety Logan Ryan announced his
retirement this morning at 33 years old
Ryan’s 11-year NFL career included two
Super Bowl titles with the Patriots as
well as a three- season stint with the
Tennessee Titans from 2017 through 2019
for all your foundation repair and
waterproofing needs visit usstn
breaking news at once on your home for
the Titans and balls this is 1045 The
Zone basketall ball season in the
college side of things is officially
over we’ve got Champions crowned on the
women’s and men’s side as of last night
congratulations to Yukon they get it
done over
Purdue basketball uh as far as the local
flavor goes newsworthy a couple of
things saw that Tennessee was losing uh
some people to the transfer portal as a
matter of fact and then also saw that
this article from our buddy Mike Wilson
at the Knoxville News Sentinel about the
new lady vs coach and specifically Kim
calwell her contract what is in her
contract as far as incentives are
concerned 61573 7145 is how you join the
discussion we’d be happy to have you
we’re going to talk a little bit more
about Logan Ryan retiring uh later on a
I you know sometimes tweet tongue and
cheek Titans Legend but I do think Logan
Ryan has a pretty significant part in
Titans history even though it was a very
brief time that he spent here we’ll talk
about that here in just a second F&M
Bank chat also available for you
Facebook YouTube Twitter and twitch is
how you get involved in the comment
section Kim Caldwell she’s the new coach
of the lady vs she comes to Knoxville by
way of Marshall she got a five-year deal
worth 3.75 million to be the lady V’s
next basketball coach the fourth coach
in the history of a program that has a
lot of pride has a lot of history to
it um the first thing that jumped out to
me was one I guess I didn’t realize how
much lower the salaries were for women’s
college basketball
coaches than the
men’s and maybe that’s I mean it’s for
sure recency bias because women’s
college basketball has never had a year
quite like this one as far as interest
television ratings to necessarily
justify the kind of inflation that you
see on the men’s side of thing with the
coach’s contracts so I was surprised to
see 5 years worth 3.75 million but
that’s just ignorance on my part as far
as women’s college basketball coaches
and what they are paid it’s probably not
a revenue sport still for most
programs and how much of that changes we
talked about that yesterday whether
that’s just star power driven whether
that’s something that has staying power
we’ll find out in the coming years but
there’s no question that Caitlyn Clark
did a ton to elevate the market value of
women’s college basketball for everybody
coaches players whatever so she gets the
5-year deal worth 3.75 million now the
interesting part of this is that she
will get
$750,000 annually through March 31st
20129 it makes her the seventh highest
paid head coach in the
conference LSU South Carolina obviously
Don Staley and Kim Maly both make more
than $3 million each on an annual basis
uh Kelly Harper was making 1.1 for what
it’s worth now Kim Caldwell’s contract
includes an interest in Clause it would
immediately make her the highest paid
coach in division one women’s basketball
if she leads Tennessee to a national
title uh she would get that raise
immediately quote equal or exceed the
highest salary of any head coach of a
women’s basketball team in division one
of the NCAA based on publicly available
salary data on the date of such an
achievement so one it’s fair to assume
that if she get goes on to get future
contract extensions that that would
remain in her contract which would be a
great Clause to have it’s a huge task to
go out and win a National Title
especially in what women’s college
basketball the environment looks to be
for the coming years I mean I don’t know
how how long do we think Gino’s going to
keep doing it how old is Gino he’s in
his 70s at the at minimum at minimum
Gino makes $3.1 million per year Kim
muli is the highest paid coach in
women’s basketball she makes $3.3
million per year and Don Staley also
makes right at 3.1 with Gino I’m sure
she’s got a Bonus coming her way did you
see Dan Hurley’s bonus his salary is
five a year he’s making a $1.8 million
bonus for winning The Natty not bad uh I
love this from Danny White go ahead and
build in a mechanism to keep Kim
Caldwell if she does take Tennessee to
the highest point there is as a program
that we don’t even have to rework your
deal you will just automatically be the
highest paid coach in the sport for One
National Title I love that from Danny
White and in the meantime she makes
750k you know and and again uh ignorance
quite a jump it is it is a significant
jump um I don’t know how common that is
with college coaches and their contract
whether that’s specific cuz I I mean
does I know Coach Cal had what was
essentially a lifetime contract even
though there was a set date on the terms
did Cal have a clause in his contract
that would immediately make him the
highest basketball coach or highest paid
basketball coach on the men’s side if he
won a title I don’t I don’t remember
that specifically this was this is the
first time that I can recall seeing
something like that or at least the
first time it’s caught my
attention uh he is 70 by the way Gino
turned 70 very recently minimum 70 he
looks older than that doesn’t he that
was mean of me I’m sorry there is Portal
news for Tennessee basketball Toby aaka
Toby aaka has hit the portal according
to on three Sports so he joins DJ
Jefferson who did not play at all last
year but was a top 90 recruit as well as
Freddy dilon who played in some spots
very highly recruited point guard that
came in and was on Tennessee’s bench not
this season but the season before it
wasn’t eligible but was impressing in
practice and came in in spots this year
uh dilon also hits the transfer portal
so Tennessee is in for a bit of a roster
rebuild here you wonder how much their
eyes are going to be on the two Arizona
transfers that have hit the portal in
Dylan Anderson and Omar Balo both
seven-footers that are now in the
transfer portal and Tennessee obviously
Tennessee has not had a dominant a
dominant front
Court since Grant Williams but Grant
Williams wasn’t even your prototypical
you know not like Grant Williams was a
seven-footer he’s he’s an eort player
right I mean he could go to work but
they haven’t had that sort of length
since really Kyle Anderson they had it a
little bit with Huntley Hatfield was a
f-star recruit now he’s at Louisville
and he’s in the portal again to my
understanding so it’ll be interesting to
see what direction tennessy goes to beef
up that part of the court because right
now it’s Jonas Adu and JP Estrella who
did some nice things in the Elite 8 game
and not much else but that’s a that’s
some big news for Tennessee
basketball so there are I mean there are
2024 2025 rankings way too early
rankings at the end of the season
college hoops yeah those are those are
out there on
ESPN Tennessee comes in as the number
nine program citing the loss of Dalton
connect uh I saw I saw Mike Wilson have
I don’t know if he was uh if this was a
part of I don’t know if he was just
doing this for fun but apparently D
connect was featured five different
times in One Shining Moment for vs fans
who were paying attention last night or
saw it on social media this morning uh
it’s as good an offense as they’ve had
under Rick Barnes we talked about the
depth coming into the season and the way
that they manage that thing throughout
the course of the season it’s as
complete a basketball team as he’s put
together in nine years of
Tennessee
I I want to know how much the style of
play and again it’s specific to
Personnel so without knowing who’s going
to be on Tennessee’s 2024 2025
basketball team it’s some impossible
question to answer but something that
stood out to me is pace of play this
year and three-point
shooting connect makes a huge difference
in both of those
things if they are going to keep a style
of or a kind of system like that in
place again it’s specific to who they
are able to land in the transfer portal
I’m optimistic about Rick Barnes and the
way that he seems to be trending as a
coach even though you know he’s
obviously late in his career it’s not
like there’s any drastic Evolution to it
but that he continues to evolve his
system is something that I like and I
don’t I don’t know I don’t have any
there’s no reason to be concerned about
Rick Barnes he’s always been a a high
level recruiter the transfer portal
stuff connect is obviously as successful
a transfer portal player as we may ever
see so it’s not like you can Bank on
that out of the portal every year
special in terms of what you got versus
what you thought you were getting
correct like you thought you were
getting yeah a guy who could score the
ball good player at Northern Colorado
but nobody had had nay Smith award watch
list in mind so it’s not going to be
easy I mean it’s probably impossible for
him to replicate what he got out of the
portal last season so there’s no point
in even having the discussion about what
it’s going to take for them to replace
Dalton connect outright because I don’t
think they’re just going to wander into
another D con and I don’t want to make
it sound as casual as that like they
obviously Target him targeted him he was
wanted by a number of different programs
went on to play himself into I mean he’s
probably going to be a lottery Pick It
feels like don’t connect we’ll see so
now you’re looking at Ziegler
Adu mshack as kind of your Cornerstone
players going into next season the guys
that played the biggest roles in this
run they just had and it’s so weird the
environment that you’re in now because
when you look at some of the most
high-profile recruits Rick Barnes has
gotten in DJ Burns was the first one
like DJ Burns was the first high four
star big get for Barnes in recruiting
but you think of Huntley Hatfield and
you think of Freddy now and DJ Jefferson
so many of them came to
Tennessee had to either wait their turn
or got their turn and didn’t really
perform and hit the portal where the
only big blue chip recruit that Barnes
has gotten that has played his entire
career of Tennessee really has been
Josiah Jordan
James so it’s it’s an interesting
environment with how much you have to
address in the portal and this idea that
yeah you can get a big swing and they’ve
been they’ve had the one andun like
Kennedy Chandler and Keon Johns and
Jaden Springer but you can get a big
swing on a guy but he comes in and if
he’s going to have to sit like we knew
Dilly own wood it’s always in the back
of your mind yeah if he’s going to have
to sit for one or two years then what
are the odds he’s actually here in one
or two years it’s not a bad foundation
for seniors right zegler mayhak ad do
that’s that’s so and Ziegler’s already
stepped into a leadership role we’ve
heard slay talk about that before how
big a galvanizing presence he was both
on and off the court for that particular
team and how critical that was to the
the level of success that they were able
to have this
year but still those are going to be and
this is something that every program is
going to have to go through every year
no matter if you’re Kentucky Tennessee
Belmont obviously we talked to Casey
Alexander about the the what the
transfer portal has created as of late
especially if you’re coaching one of
those kind of programs um and you have
to have room Tennessee has room to
operate in the portal now they’ll have
spots like when zegler came in they
almost didn’t have room on the roster
for him they didn’t need another point
guard and they were going to red shirt
him that year and then they couldn’t
keep him off the floor even though
Kennedy Chandler was on the team they
have a ton of room to operate now in the
portal especially with the Wakka going
and they got to address the front Court
in a big way so let’s stay with some
college basketball because the champion
uh crowned last night on the men’s side
of things worth taking a look at what is
actually the better college basketball
job right now in 2024 is it Yukon or is
it Kentucky who famously is going to
have an opening this offseason to fill
we’ll talk about it coming up next I’m

getting a little close to the lunch hour
Lucas I’m thinking about our trip to
Hatty bees tomorrow we’re going to be
out at the factory in Franklin come by
say hi Morning Show will be out there
too because Hatty bees is launching
their new breakfast menu and I know
Lucas and Bert are very excited Bert has
threatened to eat all day long I’m
concerned that he will actually go about
doing that that he will not come up for
air at any point across a what is that a
seven-hour span between our show and
their show I’m concerned that he might
eat for seven straight hours at Hatty
Beast
tomorrow I don’t think you should be
concerned I think that sounds like a
lovely day for
Bert well sure my concern is not for
Bert I don’t care what happens to Bert
my concern is for Cheyenne Cheyenne has
to deal with all this stuff after the
fact okay like this this is not my what
whatever Bert chooses to do to himself
or for himself that’s fine the
repercussions of Cheyenne being in that
relationship on a regular basis that is
what where my concern comes from
Cheyenne is a is a grown adult woman
that can make her own
decisions I think she knows what she’s
doing with which is enough reason to be
concerned about the whole thing entirely
anyway uh is Kentucky a better job than
Yukon Yukon wins its second straight
national championship last
night they now have six Titles since
1999 Danny Hurley famously laughing at a
reporter who asked him if he would
consider taking another job this coming
off season just laughed at him in the
postgame press conference last night in
fact Lucas do we have that exchange
handy to hear from people who may be
interested in inquiring about Danny
Hurley’s
availability Dan I I hope I don’t
misquote you but you said out on the
court something about Yukon giving you
all the resources you need um can we
interpret that to mean you intend to be
back at Yukon next year you’re not going
to entertain any conversations with
anybody else that might have a job
coming open tomorrow yeah yeah yeah I
don’t think that’s a concern you know my
wife uh you should have her answer
that
yeah we can maybe arrange the press
conference for Mrs early in the morning
congratulations coach yeah thank you
yeah she’ll she’ll answer that question
better than I
can so he’s laughing off the idea that
he would go in not specific to Kentucky
but that he would go anywhere that
wasn’t Yukon next year and I think it’s
a reasonable response given the way that
he has everything that he needs to
continue to win titles at Yukon and has
a system and a culture figured out
that’s going to allow that program to
succeed at a high level for years to
come John
Calipari is not officially officially
out at Kentucky because do you know Cal
doesn’t have an
agent that was really surprising to me
that he’s negotiating he’s Lamar Jackson
well I guess he’s I don’t know how long
he’s been doing it this way but when
you’re making the kind of money that
guys or gals depending on what industry
you’re negotiating in when you make that
much money 1% doesn’t sound like a lot
that an agent would make off your
contract but it’s still it could be a
half a million dollar Payday for some
people so if you can save a half a Mill
by negotiating your own deal good on you
Cal I feel like Cal would make a good
Agent himself he is a used car
salesman he’s basically a politician
that’s what he is he’s perfect for this
so good luck God bless and that’s the
reason apparently why it’s taking longer
than your average coaching hiring firing
situation might even though nobody’s
technically been fired here
leaves a vacancy at
Kentucky the thing that we know
definitively you don’t have to you don’t
have to do any reporting around this you
don’t have to have boots on the ground
you don’t have to have inside sources to
understand what’s the biggest reason
that Cal is leaving Kentucky and the KY
is comfortable with Cal
leaving they’re sick of each other
they’re fed up with one another Cal
doesn’t want to be there anymore
Kentucky probably doesn’t want him there
anymore the fan base I don’t know if
it’s a majority but a good portion of a
very very passionate fan base in the
World of Sports not just specific to
college basketball Big Blue Nation and I
don’t love the you know such and such
Nation thing that we do with uh sports
fan bases all the time but like bbn’s a
real thing it’s it’s overwhelming they
are incredibly passionate I respect it I
fear it a little bit I hope they don’t
get a good coach because Indiana
Kentucky are about to start playing um
on new neutral sites again here in the
very near future and I don’t want
Kentucky to be
good but they’re sick of each other and
that’s ultimately why this deal between
Cal and Arkansas is
happening is Kentucky the best job in
college basketball it has been at
varying points throughout the course of
history it’s a very very proud tradition
in the
sport it’s it’s right up there with
horse racing for the state of Kentucky
as far as what they what they most
derive their identity as a sports
consuming public
from is it the best job in college
basketball because
Alabama is immediately the best job in
college football when Nick Sabin leaves
K and Sabin are not the same one is wins
at an infinitely higher rate than the
other but they’re both kind of looked at
in a similar tier as what they mean to
their respective
Sports and Cal’s just decided that this
job is no longer his Vibe now Arkansas
also has as Lucas pointed out yesterday
Tyson chicken money Jerry Jones money
they have an outrageous amount just a a
a really skewed amount of famous rich
people Walmart money Bill Clinton money
all of the money okay Arkansas in the
nil era is kind of like Tennessee in a
case study of how much money can
jumpstart this thing and Arkansas has
more money than Tennessee
so with that being said is Cal leaving
the best job in college basketball to
take a lesser one because I don’t look
at it that at that way even
though Kentucky has a better tradition
Arkansa has a a good history itself of
high level college basketball and he’s
arguably stepping into a situation that
may be better at mobilizing name image
and likeness than Kentucky has been
certainly has more resources to do it
and I don’t think most people view
Kentucky that
way now they’re going to pay through the
nose for whomever they hire because
they’re going to go out and hire a
famous proven commodity of a coach it’s
just yet to be determined who that is
but if Kentucky swings on Dan Hurley and
ends up with let’s say Chris
beard that’s that’s not going to be
satisfactory for Kentucky fans is it
even though Chris beard has a success
he’s got a little bit of stuff in his
background from Texas that saw him land
That Old Miss but he wasn’t weren’t we
talking about him as a potential
replacement for Eric muselman at
Arkansas until the whole cow thing
happened yeah Old Miss I think had to
kind of fend him off fend off Arkansas
to come after Chris beard well it
doesn’t sound like Cal was their initial
reaction it sounds like Chris beard was
their initial play he was their top
Target that that’s what’s been reported
and then things come to pass that see
Cal and Cal and Kentucky at a point
where they’re comfortable splitting
and Arkansas makes the play of I mean
this is this is a this is going to be
one of the more more memorable news
items in in college basketball history
for what he what kind of presence he is
in that Sport and Kentucky specifically
is the program that he’s leaving how
many PE it’s it’s almost like to me
Lucas Brian Kelly leaving Notre Dame
like I got all the reasons why Brian
Kelly left Notre Dame but how many
people leave Notre
Dame well I think it was different
though because like Brian Kelly leaving
Notre Dame for LSU would be very very
different from Dan Hurley leaving Yukon
for Kentucky because Brian Kelly left
Notre Dame to do something that he did
not believe he could accomplish at Notre
Dame no I’m talking WI a national title
I’m talking about Cal leaving Kentucky
right yes that that would be more of a
parallel that’s that’s what I’m saying
well but even still because do you have
a better chance to win a National
Championship at Arkansas in basketball
than at
Kentucky I don’t think so if you’ve got
the kind of money that arkans
has to funnel into this
stuff why is that impossible why is that
impossible to say k has had the
ingredients and the roster he has had
Championship caliber rosters time and
time again no he’s had players that are
doing their time in college basketball
to go on he’s all you’re you’re correct
he’s always had the talent what the
difference between yeah but that was
that’s a cal decision though that that’s
how Cal has gone about building Kentucky
basketball and that’s why Kentucky fans
are sick of his bleep absolutely sick of
his bleep
so I don’t know if he’s going to change
that at Arkansas but I can tell you that
Arkansas is going to be a whole of a
hell of a h what what am I even saying
there a hell of a lot happier with
caliper and what he has done at Kentucky
transfer all of that over to Arkansas
they’d start to get frustrated at lack
of getting out of the opening weekend in
the tournament but it would not be the
hostility and the toxicity that we’ve
seen at
Kentucky so but that’s that has a role
in this because they’ve they’ve run off
and it’s it’s mutual right Cal’s Cal’s
done there too and he’s Cal has been in
that job longer than any other coach
than Adolf rup right I he lasted longer
than tubby lasted longer than patino
like C has had that job for a good long
time it
is the toxicity that Kentucky can bring
should not run off expect it should not
run off a coach right a coach should
relish
the opportunity to live up to those
expectations it’s kind of like taking
the Tennessee job a little bit V’s fans
are wild wild when it when it comes to
the passion that they have about their
college football team understandably so
it has championship history it has
pedigree it’s a brand it’s bigger than
and batter than just about any other
atmosphere out there and they expect to
win and also that brings a a certain
kind of craziness that you have to be
prepared for if you’re laying kein for
example how much does that play into
that and the SEC versus what Yukon
has in the
American how much does that actually
make does does that make Kentucky a
better or worse job than what Yukon
has well when you’re talking about
expectations and comparing Yukon to
Kentucky does Yukon not have the
expectations of winning championships
clearly they have a higher expectation
of winning championships because they’ve
been doing it at a rate that’s
ridiculous they have a standard and they
actually meet that standard corre at
Yukon unlike Kentucky that’s only met it
once in this Century in 2012 under Cal
so if you’re Dan Hurley the only thing
that you could put out there and say
would be the big outlier the big
difference would be the money right and
he can get he can get paid more at
Kentucky than the five million a year
he’s getting paid at Yukon and I’m sure
he’ll get a an extension at Yukon and
and all those things will follow and he
just got a basically a $2 million bonus
but I don’t think the difference is
substantial enough for Dan Hurley to say
look what I’ve built here at Yukon the
expectation the same at Kentucky I’ve
actually delivered on that expectation
here at Yukon they love me here they
worship me here why not just continue to
dominate at Yukon like if you’re just
going to end up in the same place too is
the thing like sure going to coach in
the SEC and you want to coach against
the best but at the end of the day at
the end of the season we end up in the
same place and that’s the NCAA
tournament and you’re only judged on
what you do there not what you do in
your conference yeah for a program like
Kentucky or Yukon so if I’m Dan Hurley
I’m like the difference is not
substantial enough unless you can pay me
like five million more than I could get
here at Yukon that’s the answer to the
question that we don’t have can they can
they do something like double his salary
because if if you’re Kentucky and you’re
serious about this that’s what you’re
going to have to do because Dan Hurley’s
currently at a better program than
Kentucky Yukon is in a better place than
Kentucky how many can how many Kentucky
fans do you think are are willing to
kind of cope with that idea Casey
Alexander said something like that to us
earlier this well yesterday as a matter
of fact when we talked to Coach um about
previewing the tournament he mentioned
the level of respect that people need to
put on Yukon as a
program and it is amazing though it’ll
be you know even with the win tonight um
it it’s interesting to me how long will
it actually take before we put Yukon in
their ful place in modern day basketball
because they have been phenomenal uh and
even this season I mean they have
absolutely dominated since um you know
since the beginning of the year and um
and and they’re still um not not spoken
of as the best or clearly the best or
one of the best of all time you know you
talk about back-to-back championships
which is what they’re going for tonight
it’s pretty amazing what they’ve done
and speaking of Belmont by the
way NC a men’s basketball victories over
the last five seasons who do you think
which program do you think leads the
country and wins over the last 5 years
I’m assuming you’re going to say Belmont
uh it’s not Belmont it’s Gonzaga at 148
Houston at 148 but Yukon is on this list
at 121 Belmont is just behind Yukon at
118 I mean that’s but Belmont also has
maintained that level of of winning and
tradition that that program has been
known for yeah under Casey too yeah
we’re talking about we’re talking about
a different scale though here with Yukon
so somebody in the chat Grant Brasher on
YouTube and you can interact via YouTube
or Facebook live uh or Twitter or twitch
phone lines as well 61573
7145 he says Yukon has the better
program but Kentucky is the bigger
program Kentucky is a more so I guess
are we talking about from a national fan
base standpoint there are just more
Kentucky fans than there are Connecticut
fans I that is true I would accept that
yeah sure um that does not mean but the
better program is what you want you
don’t want more pissed off people at you
when you can’t get the program up off
the ground and Danny Hurley would be
completely capable of doing something
like this at a program the scale of
Kentucky I don’t have any question in my
mind about that but he has arguably the
most successful thing going in college
basketball right now the way that as we
talked about parallels earlier da Staley
and South Carolina what Lucas laid this
out perfectly Zack Edy and Caitlyn Clark
are more polarizing figures in their
sport South Carolina and Yukon are not
as interesting to talk about because all
they do is win they’re boring and they
win they execute at a higher level but
they win they Outlast you as far as
conditioning but they win they’re not as
interesting but they are the more
dominant
things collectively than the individuals
that they were up against because
they’re the more complete team they’re
the better team they’re the better
programs why would Danny Hurley upend
that unless in the same way that he
laughed off a reporter
saying would you consider another job
opportunity or are you basically married
to Yukon at this point and him saying
yeah ask my wife that question
you would have to almost offer Danny you
would you would not almost you would
have to offer Danny Hurley an amount of
money that would make him laugh so hard
because of the amount of money that
you’re offering him to
leave you would I I think you would
legitimately have to double that man’s
salary and if UK’s up for it that’s the
kind of that’s the kind of stuff it’s
going to
take to get the best coach in men’s
college basketball right
now is that what UK is are they the the
best program in college basketball do
they want the best coach in men’s
college basketball then you pay that man
enough money to the point where he
cannot tell you
no and I don’t know if I I’m fascinated
to see if they’re willing to do it or
not but first they got to get Cal off
the books they got to get through that
negotiation first I wonder what their
fallback would be I wonder if it would
because Nate oats already get has
already given his vote of confidence to
Bama fans I’m not going anywhere it’s
it’s like the it’s like the Sabin cycle
all over again sarkeesian putting out
statements
mhm I bet it would be Scott drew next on
the list another another National
Championship coach that is a different
discussion Baylor basketball versus
Kentucky
basketball yeah but should Kentucky be
willing to settle for their second
option this is this is the thing this is
because from my perspective Lucas I look
at Kentucky like Alabama and I wish and
I I this is born out of a place of
frustration cuz I wish my basketball
program would act like this cuz they’re
supposed to be something like this Duke
Kentucky the the best and most elite
historically programmed should they be
should anybody be capable of saying no
to them with the resources that they
have at their disposal to make their
best programs go the answer should be no
there shouldn’t be any comparison
between Baylor and
Kentucky Scott drew is one of the best
coaches in college basketball understood
I want the best I don’t want one of the
best if I’m Kentucky if I’m Alabama if
I’m one of these programs that has a
certain standard and I’m capable
financially of doing this I want the
best person you you fail if you don’t
get the best person I’m did Bama fans
did Bama fail because they didn’t hire
Kirby Smart we’ll see like every
situation is different Kirby Smart is
the best coach in college football that
doesn’t mean Bama just had everything in
their power to go and make him come
there he had no reason to leave just
like Dan Hurley might not have a reason
to leave Yukon Scott drew is one of the
best coaches in all of college
basketball and I think Kentucky fans
would and should be pumped if that’s the
move the answer to all of your questions
is money uh there is some very cool
local news local sports news with the
Titans and high school
sports okay that’s a tease we’ll talk
about it coming up

welcome back to the show we are live at
Hatty bees at the factory in Franklin
tomorrow come stop by have lunch hang
out you can could ask us some questions
about the Titans their uh first day of
media availability will be tomorrow
players not scheduled to speak currently
but Brian Callahan dard Wilson Nick
Holtz all going to be made available to
the media tomorrow we’ll carry those
press conferences live for you from
Hatty bees at
12:15 speaking of the Titans uh a cool
news item that just dropped in our
emails a little more than an hour ago
the Titans have announced the approval
for girls flag football as an official
tsaa state sanctioned High School sport
it is now one of 10
states here in Tennessee to sanction
girls flag as a high school sport that’s
very exciting I know a lot of people uh
had called in earlier I can’t remember
the name of the uh the gentleman that
called us talking about how Caitlyn
Clark and what she’s done in women’s
college basketball this year has
inspired his daughter uh to be able to
go out and Achieve athletically at
whatever level that she wants to achieve
in or whatever sport she desires to play
well to have more options for girls to
be able to participate in sports like
flag football as an officially
sanctioned High School sport is
huge this is a uh this is a statement
from Titans president Burke Neill we are
so grateful to tsaa for today’s decision
and their support of our girls flag
football programs over the past several
years girls girls flag football has
emerged as one of the most competitive
and exciting Sports offered at the high
school level and has already impacted
the lives of many young athletes with
the rise of Collegiate opportunities
within the sport we look forward to
seeing its reach grow across the state
as it becomes an officially sanctioned
sport we’ve seen uh female athletes
compete in American football before and
you know famously the uh the Vanderbilt
women’s soccer player that was available
to the Vanderbilt men’s team to kick
field goals a couple years ago sah Sarah
Fuller I think that was right before we
got the radio show maybe around the same
time either way Co year oh it was it was
the co year it was right after Co I feel
like I feel like things had started to
normalize a little bit by that point
either
way that has did not come without some
controversy unnecessarily just female
soccer player out there attempting field
goals because Vander needed a kicker
we’ve seen opportunities arise for other
female athletes in American football and
flag obviously not
contact but it’s a hugely competitive
world as far as Flag Football goes and
the Championships and the professional
aspirations of people who want to play
and and the Collegiate opportunities
that may be afforded to women who want
to participate in this and it’s been
cool to see the Titans really back that
been cool to see DeAndre Hopkins be a
huge ba proponent of this he showed up
at the owners meetings to make his case
for why flag football is such an
important thing to continue to spread so
to see the Titans have such a big part
in this and to see the twsa make the
move on that uh is really cool so the
10th State officially to sanction girls
flag as a high school
sport uh agent s do says I remember the
media blowing that up trash talking
about Sarah Fuller but it’s just certain
kinds of media right it’s not all media
now it it was a talking point for a
while I don’t were you working at The
Zone then yeah do you do you remember it
being a highly controversial topic here
locally I remember it being celebrated
as a cool story a cool opportunity I
don’t remember anybody making a big like
a a big stink out of it here in
Nashville at any case I’m sure somebody
did somebody said probably said
something dumb on
Twitter but it’s kind of like I kind of
look at it the same way that Caleb the
Caleb Williams stuff like do you care it
all of Caleb Williams paints his nails
or has a pink phone gase I I can’t
possibly care less about what he does
with his nail color or uh what kind of
phone case he wants to have or I don’t
think Bears fans will care when he’s
throwing touchdowns Bears the the thing
that Bears fans are concerned about is
does he want to play for their
franchise they’re so Des they care about
what color he paints his nails he’s
going to play for their franchise but
there are certain elements of media and
this is you know it’s
formulaic polarization leads to
interaction leads to ratings leads to
clicks things of that
nature and and if you can try and make
something polarizing out of something
that’s not like do you care that Caleb
Williams cried after losing a football
game I could not possibly care less in
fact it makes me like him more the fact
that he’s that passionate and that
invested in what it is that he wants to
do for a living do I care if he sobs a
little bit in his in in uh and is being
embraced by his mom at the same time no
I don’t care about any of that stuff I
care can he throw touchdown passes and
can he get out there are are grown men
in an NFL locker room going to look at
him differently Maybe
so but it’s his job to manage that and
it’s a whole different generation of
athletes like did you see will Levis the
the the Titan social media team taking a
bunch of videos of people coming to the
facility yesterday do you know who
sketch is on Twitch no yeah I had no
idea what that bit was the pointing the
finger in the air saying uh what what’s
up brother special teams special players
make special plays I had no idea it’s a
whole twitch
phenomenon of because you’re dealing
with Gen Z athletes because they did it
to and he looked at him like Hey
brother what are you talking about I’m
sure the vast majority of people within
the sound of my voice have no idea who
the hell sketch is or why he’s on Twitch
or what Hey Brother means
um but you’re dealing with a different
generation of athlete that it’s you’re
eventually going to have to turn this
stuff over to them anyway what do you
care how they interact with all this
stuff so I’m I’m always just kind of eye
roll anytime people make a big deal out
of a Sarah Fuller or a Caleb Williams
for whatever reason they want to try and
make it into something polarizing but
it’s actually not who
cares 61573 7145 is the number if you
want to join the
discussion what does Levis need more to
be able to succeed at a high level let’s
talk about jenz quarterback shall we a
top 10 left tackle or a top 10 wide
receiver we’ll Embrace debate

the college basketball season is
officially over Yukon back-to-back
national champs after their win over
Purdue yesterday in Phoenix some
transfer portal news for the Tennessee
Vols as forward tobbe awaka has
reportedly hit the portal that is
according to Onre Sports in NFL news
veteran safety Logan Ryan announced his
retirement this morning at 33 years old
Ryan’s 11-year NFL career included two
Super Bowl titles and a three-year stint
with the Titans from 2017 through 2019
and the Nashville Predators are back
home tonight they hope the Winnipeg Jets
needing only one point to clinch a spot

this is 1045 The
Zone
hour number three let’s talk some Titans
shall we what does will Levis need the
most in the upcoming season would he
benefit more from a top 10 left tackle
or a top 10 wide receiver he’s going to
have some parts and pieces to play with
the draft is less than three weeks away
everybody get
excited so how you going to spin this
what does will Levis stand to benefit
from the most now on a perfect world he
would get both but that’s not how the
NFL works and there’s no guarantee that
they draft a left tackle who ends up
turning into a top 10 left tackle or
that Calvin Ridley lives up to his
payday you can’t take these things for
granted but we’ll see they’re putting
themselves at least in good position to
capitalize on a number of different
fronts where they’ve been pretty bad
over the last two seasons but will
levice specifically as you look at kind
of the cost benefit scenario as we do
the kind of Bengals uh math that they
did a couple years ago with Jamar Chase
and pan Su to a little bit of a lesser
extent but not really what are the pros
and the cons of a left tackle versus a
wide receiver fourwh Levis in this
upcoming draft process and what does
this man need more to succeed 615 737
1045 is the number you can chime in
there if you like to you also can live
stream the show on Facebook YouTube
Twitter and twitch participate in the
F&M Bank chat if you’re so inclined if
you’re on YouTube make sure you
subscribe to the channel get all kinds
of cool stuff there so looking at will
Levis in the sample size of nine games
last
year uh completed less than 60% of his
passes 58.4 188 yards touchdowns to four
picks he threw for 81 first downs he had
a passing success percentage of
37.1 which is pretty low we understand
that it’s not on completely on him
though there are some moments that he
could stand to improve upon from his
rookie season nobody’s disputing
that and how much is on the protection
versus how much is on the skill talent
that He did not have at either position
last year save DeAndre Hopkins Taj spe
and you know Derrick Henry trying to
make the most out of a bad situation
chicken salad out of chicken
bleep 3 and six is a starter in those
nine
games he was sacked in those nine games
28
times it is uh something for Will Levis
that is untenable it is something that
has to be corrected the question is does
he benefit more from having considerably
upgraded protection or a considerably
better arsenal of skill position Talent
with which to get the ball to
quicker now we’re going to play for you
this Brian Callahan uh audio from the
combine because it’s still applicable
the idea of a left tackle versus a wide
receiver in the draft now since then
what have they done they’ve signed
Calvin Ridley they’ve brought back NWI
doesn’t mean that they’re completely
done at wide receiver nor should you
expect them to be
but they’re in a much better position a
much deeper position a much more
talented
situation in their wide out room than
they were a month
ago offensive
line is better Lloyd cushenberry will be
the starting center youve brought in
sadique Charles as a depth piece you
have considerably greater needs on the
offensive line than you do with the
skill Talent right
now but in the cost benefit analysis
how is your coaching staff in your front
office going to think Brian Callahan did
well to articulate that for us at the
combine you know one one of the things
I’ve always said when when asked about
this debate is um I I had landed at some
point in my career usually in Denver is
usually what I liken back to when we had
uh Demaryius Thomas Wes Welker Julius
Thomas and Emanuel Sanders obviously we
had a great quarterback that was at at
the end of his career um but those guys
in one-on-one situations could win uh
when you needed to win and a in a tight
moment at the end of a game all those
things and
so I’ve always that’s always resonated
with me when we had a chance to pick a
player like Jamar um I always just
thought back to what that offense looked
like and that was sort of the vision of
what we were trying to look like in
Cincinnati with a elite quarterback
Elite processor um to find guys that
could go win and separate and the debate
was always well you got to protect the
quarterback obviously you can’t throw
the ball and we didn’t necessarily
believe that we felt like if you got
great players on the perimeter they the
they can go win versus press coverage
and all the teams that are trying to
condense everything and rush the passer
uh if you can win quick you can throw
quick um so that was our philosophy in
that moment obviously Jamar Chase coming
out Premier player uh there was no doubt
that he was going to be an all proo
player there was no doubt that pan was
going to be an allpro style tackle there
was no question on either one of those
players um their talent level and how
they would fit in the
NFL I think that’s unique I don’t know
that you’re ever going to get in a spot
where both both of those guys different
are are that caliber of player where
there’s going to be one that’s going to
be better than the other and that sort
of makes a decision for you at the end
of the day but um I’ve always felt like
today’s offenses I think you still have
to protect the quarterback um but but
it’s the score points you got to have
guys that can score points and um I’ve
always felt that I’ve always believed
that that doesn’t mean that that’s we’re
just going to automatically take a
receiver you giving people chest
tightness no it doesn’t I don’t mean to
say I’m just philosophically I’ve always
felt like the the more more talented
receivers you have the better chance you
have to score points um but that being
said we are in in year one here versus
year three we were in Cincinnati we had
a young Joe burrow already played a year
um and we were trying to give him as
many weapons as we could so I think the
situations while the position comparison
is similar I think the situations
ultimately are pretty different so um
how that shakes out we’ll see but
there’s there’s still there’s two
there’s good receivers and good tackles
that’ll be available
so that’s Brian Callahan at the combine
and it’s a little different but they’re
they are in year two with Will
Levis they are clearly emphasizing the
need to get him
weapons and the protection situation in
Tennessee I mean it’s more dire than it
was in Cincinnati around
burrow though if you look at their
rookie years so uh credited with or
credited with taking 28 sacks and again
how how this would vary from a coaching
staff standpoint like how many sacks
would they attribute to the quarterback
how many sacks would they attribute to
uh you know the left tackle the the
center whatever the case may be but 28
sacks as a rookie in nine games do you
know how many times Joe burough was
sacked in 10 games as a rookie Lucas in
route to a 27 and one record I’m goingon
to say 24 32 wow he was sack more than
will Lis one of which ended his season
corre
correct none of
which came by the hand of jvon Clowney
Vic Beasley not one against the backup
offensive lineman I still can’t get over
how dumb that game was I cannot believe
they went to Cincinnati and lost that
game the way that they did either way
Charles Davis talked about this a little
bit when we had him on a few weeks ago
we keep talking about well this
Situation’s different this situation is
different and it is but the way we talk
about that is because how unique of a
prospect Jamar Chase was he was the wide
receiver Prospect of that draft and his
relationship with Joe burrow as college
teammates like there were so many
factors into that the thing that we
don’t bring up in the difference between
this situation and that one with the
Bengals is what the Bengals had at left
tackle Jonah Williams not a great player
right not the solution longterm that you
want at left tackle but he was a body
that could be serviceable sometimes and
maybe that’s putting it kindly but it’s
better than what the Titans have right
now which is literally nothing
nothing who do the Titans have that who
would play left tackle for the Titans
today if they had a game today who would
it be another 71 it would be Jaylen
Duncan Jaylen Duncan who is wearing 71
this year after uh 79 went to cushenbery
so Charles made that point with us a few
weeks ago like yeah Jen Williams not
great than got him to a Super Bowl not
great but that was their plan
B that’s the problem plan there is no
plan B I mean well they might we just
don’t know it and it better not be npf
I’m good on that plan B but we’ve had
this conversation so many times can
anybody come up with a plan B other than
taking a tackle at seven Roger Harwell
says on YouTube has the new coaching
staff confirm that scony is a guard and
not a tackle yes they have in fact Brian
Callahan was on record last draft
process talking about the guard from
Northwestern uh referencing referencing
scony in a couple of different
interviews um now percentage of time
sacked when attempting to
pass what do you think so just give me a
percentage and I’ll tell you it’s under
10 for both of them what percentage of
time when attempting to pass was Joe
burrow if he was sacked 32 times
percentage of time sacked when
attempting to pass under
10 under under 10 games under 10% oh uh
seven 7.3 so if Joe burrow sacked more
times than will
Levis had a sack percentage of 7.3 when
attempting to pass what do you think
will Lev’s was when sacked 28
times 8.6
9.9
9.9 it is both more dire here to address
the offensive line situation and you’re
talking about a quarterback that came in
and both are older prospects by by the
time they get to the NFL both burrow and
Levis are older prospects they’re more
they’re more of who they’re going to be
for the rest of their careers though
they are not without uh developmental
traits that can further improve them as
prospects but what Joe burough does is
significantly different than what will
Levis does how much will Levis can grow
how much will Levis can I I think
Implement more game manager type stuff
into his game just have the Comfort
level to be able to manage a game
instead of pressing as he was so often
asked to do because all of a sudden
they’re in third and 15 again because
you’ve got a holding penalty or a false
start or you’ve given up a sack or
you’ve tried to run it again on first
down and lost yardage whatever the case
may be that’s put will Le will Levis in
these disadvantageous
positions they’re different kind of
prospects whomever they have
stacked as the better players at the
respective positions neighbors alt
fashanu adun however Dallas Turner
however many different names you want to
cycle through before you decide who your
favorite team is going to pick at seven
overall what what Brian cahan says there
is accurate in that it is significantly
more dire will Lev’s situation than was
Joe Burrows on the offensive line
compounded by the idea that Levis plays
a significantly different kind of game
game than burrow
does 61573 7145 is how you join the
conversation we’ll get to your phone
calls here in just a little bit uh
speaking of draft talk the install live
show is coming up we’re less than a
month away you want to make sure you get
your tickets at 1045thezone decom right
now for the live taping of the show with
Greg coell at the analog in the Hutton
Hotel Friday May the 3D you can be there
live as Greg and I break down the entire
Titan draft class it’ll be 6 days after
the draft so we’ll be fresh off of it
with tape to study and to break down for
you we’ll be talking about Cal Ridley’s
fit in the offense how lerus Sneed is
going to work in dard Wilson’s defense
all there for you with a full bar as a
matter of fact tickets are only $25 to
get in the door go to 1045thezone decom
today to get involved Rick and
Hendersonville is next hey Rick hey guys
uh back in November I think it was
November it might have been late
October you asked the question you did
Buck how can
Tennessee
fix this offensive line
situation I called in and said Joe alt
and you dismissed me by saying I ain’t
getting into the draft yet now you guys
have already
including the public have answered the
question left
tackle or wide
receiver that question was answered all
last year it’s a
tackle the wide receivers though not
great weren’t
bad but for God’s sakes you got to have
time to throw the ball
So my answer once again is Joe
Art thank you Rick now he did have the
slowest wide receiving core in football
and that includes Hopkins and I you
can’t say that the wide receivers were
not bad when tayin had the season that
he did and Phillips had the season that
he did um to Hopkins credit thousand
yard receiver seven
touchdowns really staving off uh time
basically but you can’t tell me that the
wide receivers were not bad the will
also look completely different and
you’ll prioritize different things in
your wide receivers in terms of skill
set coming up next drafting Now versus
the future how much does this discussion
have to do with that particular play
you’ll hear from the voice of the Titans
Mike Keith on that matter coming up
next

welcome
back Lucas apparently you’re getting
calls back there demanding Master’s
coverage from us this week is that so
two days Master startup I love the
Masters we could do that I’m down to
Pivot do a little golf we’ll see if we
can’t get some expertise around here to
uh help us work our way through the
field I have some questions about the
Liv golfers and their participation you
know we’re getting a Liv tournament
pretty close to town um I uh I had had
somebody ask me about that this weekend
if we were doing anything around the
upcoming Liv tournament uh here in
Tennessee but I had not heard anything
from the radio station about it perhaps
that’s something that’s in the works we
will see um meanwhile we can get to
Master’s coverage later on but we have
some phone calls about the Titans what
does will Levis need more
for the future and just for General
success a top 10 left tackle or top 10
wide receiver I saw uh Mike Keith
putting out a uh a Walkin talk type of
selfie video with his thoughts on Jim
Wyatt’s latest mock draft Roundup um you
can follow Mike because he’s on social
media now he’s very active on social
media now at 10o
TNN voice on Twitter and Instagram and
he was clarifying some points from coach
Mack that he thought Titans fans should
need to keep in mind at this time of
year hey shout out to my guy Jim Wyatt
Tennessee titans.com with his 30 mock
drafts not surprisingly that uh the
majority of them are saying the Titans
are going to pick an offensive lineman
and one offensive lineman in particular
and shout out to my Titans radio buddy
coach Mack for reminding us that if
you’re going to stick and pick at seven
you’re not picking for this year you’re
picking for building your roster so if
an offensive tackle is the number one
player on your board that’s who you take
if a wide receiver is number one on your
board that’s who you take why take a
receiver well because you can never have
enough of them due to injuries and also
you want to be able to stagger those
contracts so that at all times you know
you’re covered with strength at the wide
receiver position you can never have
enough guys and remember this team is
GNA throw the football a lot
more so that’s Mike Keith on social
media about the left tackle wide
receiver discussion at
7 will in Nashville is up next hey Will
hey guys thanks for taking my call um
man you that’s a great piece right there
from Mike Keith I I would like to say
it’s gonna be hard to get a fair
assessment of will Levis without a solid
left tackle I feel like the skill
players that they’ve added with Ridley
and and Pard as well you can get a fair
assessment with a solid left tackle now
I also love the idea though that you
know you can’t have enough great wide
receivers and you got to take into
consideration we got Bill Callahan
sitting there and if there’s a guy in
the second round that they got their
eyes on I I I can see a situation where
we go for that top tier wide receiver
because we have a Bill Callahan that’s
there to coach it up and make some
things happen in in that regard so
that’s my thought
thanks for the call Will yeah it’s it is
the the the biggest unknown in this is
what they’re going to look like how
they’re going to play you know what what
exactly what are the prototypical
players for a Brian Callahan system you
can go back to the Bengals and cite
examples if you want to but that’s not
necessarily applicable here the existing
Personnel is different the Personnel
that they’re going to add is different
and it could add some interesting
wrinkles into the into what we consider
to be conventional draft thought process
might not be conventional for them or
maybe what they consider conventional
might be different than our definition
of conventional thanks for the call Will
Kyle and Smur is
next hey guys I got two things uh Malik
neighbors is my favorite Prospect in
this draft if AJ Brown and Antonio Brown
had a baby that’s what it would be and
how much influence does Amy have on
drafting a tackle for this team because
I believe that she really likes will and
wants to get him all the help that she
can how much can she just say ran I need
a tackle in the top 10 like what do y
all think on that how I mean she owns it
she can do whatever she wants you know
what I’m saying
Cal she she can VTO or or or sign them
up for whatever she wants to do it’s her
football team now in a perfect world you
wouldn’t want her to meddle to that
extent ownership jumping in and and
making picks based on gut feeling or
rash decisions and they you know they
may consider themselves to have a fair
amount of football Acumen and Amy has
spent enough time certainly around the
game growing up that I’m sure her sure
football IQ is high but if she she can
do whatever she wants in the draft room
it’s it’s her draft room it’s her
building it’s her team so yeah but she
probably doesn’t right like I think the
free agency process has been very
hands-off from Amy if it’s true if what
ran is telling us is true that she’s
called calling ran as the news is
breaking about Ridley and saying is this
happening well yeah but that was more
about how quickly the news got out there
after they did the deal as opposed to it
was Amy not being in hands on I it
sounds like she’s been she’s been very
well
informed how much of her
own how much influence she has
specifically put into the process
herself I I don’t know the answer to
that question I would that would take a
level of access to their meeting rooms
that I don’t presently
have but she has she’s not unopinionated
my understanding of people who have been
around her who have been in these
meetings and who have shared a certain
level of of how she go abouts this she
she wants to know exactly what they’re
doing and why they’re doing it and how
it’s best going to benefit the football
team um but she’s not you know she’s not
Jerry Jones out here playing GM right
that’s a different level and by the way
Jerry’s Jerry the the organization under
Jerry does not have a bad record of
drafting but Jerry does not always make
the best in sound and most logical
decisions they’ve got a actually a
pretty damn good record of drafting
recently oh no they’re great like it is
it is kind of impressive when you think
owner who makes gut feeling you know
type of decisions who tell who’s told by
a homeless person right to draft Johnny
Manzel or not draft Johnny Manzel I
can’t remember which one it was either
way that’s Jerry Jerry Jones might be my
daddy y’all I hope I don’t think so the
the the the the differences between the
two of them get more and more apparent
every day but to Jerry’s credit I bet
Jerry doesn’t need a Red Lobster all the
biggest stars in Dallas right now were
drafted by Jerry michah Parson CD lamb
Dak Prescott donon Bland well J again
Jerry’s got the money to pay the best
people like this is a this is an
organizational thing Jerry gets credit
as the general manager and and should
for putting the right people in place
and allowing them to do their jobs but
step Jones is just as much involved in
personnel as Jerry
is I mean maybe not just because again
Jerry is the person who owns the team
but
still um so from that to some the news
item of the week is Cal leaving Kentucky
to go to Arkansas Lucas you said there’s
been some more reporting on that about
Cal trying to leverage the situation
with Arkansas into a raise it Kentucky
and it not necessarily going the way he
thought it might yes there is a veteran
broadcaster that’s been covering the
Kentucky Wildcats for a long time dick
Gabriel who has reported that after Cal
received the offer from Arkansas he gave
Kentucky the chance to counter it and
Kentucky turned him down which would
make sense given the timeline and the
reason maybe that Cal is not in fville
Arkansas right now as the head coach of
the Razer backs doing a press conference
the way that tenden is about to hold for
the lady BS here in about half an hour
that he tried to Leverage The Arkansas
offer to Kentucky and Kentucky said no
thanks quote Calipari going into that
meeting with Mitch Barnhart the ad
didn’t have much leverage Mitch had the
leverage but now when you’ve got
somebody else in your corner who is a
viable candidate for your services I
mean if it was a junior college that
came to hire him no but this is Arkansas
powerful school with deep Deep Pockets
and all kinds of booster money out there
Tyson chicken and Walmart they come and
say we want you and we’ll do what it
takes to get you that’s leverage Cal as
I’m told said here’s what it’s going to
take to keep me and UK said I don’t
think so as I understand it now if the
deal isn’t done it’s going to be done
you have a fan base that’s unhappy an
institution that is not satisfied with
what’s been happening you’ve got another
school that would be happy to have him
when you factor in the fans this might
be a win-win win if such a thing is
possible that all depends of course on
who Kentucky hires if and when Calipari
does leave so they’re still talking
about it with an if and when but the
expectation is absolutely that c is
going to be the Arkansas coach so
Gabriel says he’s here in Kentucky will
make Dan Hurley say no and then we’ll
reach out to Nate oats and make him say
no after he’s already said no and uh
yeah he has reiterated his commitment to
Alabama uh and Gabriel also listed Scott
drew and Todd golden which is
interesting the head coach down at
Florida as potential candidates weren’t
you very dismissive of Florida’s a
basketball program earlier what do you
mean when we were talking about like the
health of the various uh SEC basketball
programs maybe not very dismissive but
you were fairly dismissive I didn’t
think I didn’t think Florida belongs in
the same tier as Alabama Tennessee
Auburn as far as the health of a program
in its current state I would agree with
that assessment but if Kentucky is
telling you that that is the the same
caliber of person that they might
pursue oh sure I mean he’s like fourth
on a list of potential candidates from
dick Gabriel I I imagine Kentucky fans
be pretty upset if they got all the way
down Todd golden uh who’s been at
Florida for maybe two years who’s in his
30s one of the youngest coaches in power
five you know what the most interest I
mean there’s a variety of things that
are interesting about this
thing
but second to the Intrigue of Cal
biggest college basketball we’ll just
call him the biggest personality in
college basketball Cal one of the he’s
he’s one of the most if not the most
polarizing people in the
sport Beyond just the in and shock value
of that move is he going to be able to
get Kentucky kids to come with him to
Arkansas because that and you know it’s
it is cyclical and Cal does things a
very very certain type of way a bunch of
them are already in the portal
anyway how concerned are Kentucky fans
with the idea of that probably not
they’re tired of what this has been no I
think they want to hit the reset button
that’s kind of that’s pretty hard to do
I think they’d be fine with it’s as easy
to do as it’s ever been in the current
climate sure I get that but I I wouldn’t
say that I I mean bet I bet if you ask
Kalin deor if it’s been easy for him
this offseason in Alabama I don’t know
if easy as easy as it’s ever been is
going to be his answer right he has a
good he has a good foundation of players
that he can bring with him he obviously
has connections throughout the co course
of the uh around the world of coaching
that can help make that part easier but
to have Sab and leave and then transfer
portal open up and have that much talent
just dip on you and I know football’s
different than
basketball but that can’t be easy to try
and you know plug the
leaks 615 737 1045 is how you join the
discussion so kind of circling back that
was just a a little update on the
Calipari uh Arkansas situation circling
back to the Titans that that idea from
coach Mack saying drafting a
player at this spot specifically seven
or a top 10 kind of player is as much
about building for the future as it is
about building for your
present the left tackle that the Titans
draft no matter whom or whomst to use
our buddy Josh P’s uh
phraseology no matter who they put on
the left side or who they draft to put
on the left side that’s a day one
starter
you’re going to have to figure it out
it’s going to be uh
way it’s going to be pretty
um pretty Rocky right out of the
gate whatever Dennis Daly and Andre
Dillard are which are significantly
below arguably the worst left tackles in
football during their time here and
Jaylen Duncan who in a much smaller
sample sample size not really equit
himself that
well it’s going to be pretty Rocky for a
guy going from college no matter what
level of college football they’re
playing to the
pros so I don’t think I think to Max
point I’m prepared for another Rocky
season of of Titans offensive line play
you you expect Peter scony to make a
significant jump you expect Lloyd
cushenberry to make a huge difference
whether it’s brunskill or npf you hope
that Bill Callahan can put them in
better positions to succeed can help
them technically uh improve their game
or take their game to a greater level
than they’re capable of or have been
capable of under previous staffs and
previous teams but whomever is playing
left tackle for this team is probably
going to have a very Dennis daily Andre
Dillard type of experience for a little
while until such time as they settle in
understand the speed of the game get
themselves up to the level of
competition it’s kind of like Caitlyn
Clark going to the WNBA playing against
uh uh South Carolina but getting that
basically every night when she’s a
member of the Indiana Fever you know
what I’m saying like she’s G there are
going to be significant adjustments to
Caitlyn Clark’s game in the WNBA because
she’s just facing a higher caliber of
athlete and higher level of competition
every single time she’s out on the court
so drafting a receiver at seven is
probably more with an eye towards future
years right because I understand they
could help you immediately
but Calvin Ridley’s 29 DeAndre Hopkins
final year of his deal you are not in
desperate need of a wide receiver today
left tackle though checks both of those
if you get it right it’s today and years
down the road so I understand that you
need to like my Keith is saying stagger
in those contracts and you can’t just
keep addressing things in one sweeping
motion you want to spread things out but
the way left tackle at seven helps you
now and in the future for me is too much
to pass up the thing that makes this
situation different than your average
team like Mike Keith is saying is that
they they have no they they have no
layering to begin with right that the
Contra that they their layering is
consisting of Jeff Harold and a bunch of
offseason acquisitions because they
haven’t retained their talent at a rate
that is League average especially their
first round picks they haven’t retained
guys like that that John Robinson picked
in the first round Beyond Jeff Simmons
um they have not done well beyond what
we think the 2023 class might be which
is foundational to them with scony and
Levis and
Spears they don’t they’re chasing a
bunch of different stuff from a bunch of
different drafts and all of it’s
compounded to make all of the needs feel
that much more
desperate so it’s it’s it’s good and
Sound Logic from Mike Keith in a pretty
unconventional situation where you’re
just trying to get as many needs
addressed as humanly possible to make
sure you don’t kill that quarterback out
there last call for phone calls if you

if you don’t get with us Blain and
Mickey got you next 3hl after that stick
around on 1045 The Zone speaking of
sticking around make sure you stick
stick around the factory in Franklin
tomorrow we are going to be out there
The Morning Show and us for Hatty bees
they’re launching their new breakfast
menu Lucas and Bert are excited I don’t
are we going to have some kind of eating
competition between you two I feel like
we should in fact since you two subject
me to things like Red Lobster at 1:00 in
the afternoon for your pure enjoyment
and also fried what did you have fried
flounder is that right yep where’s
flounder native I don’t think you’re GNA
get flounder in Middle
Tennessee I don’t ask questions you sure
it was flounder out of s out of mind mm
um I think that we should have some kind
of eating competition between you and
Bert for L less and I think we should
live stream it okay I will need advanced
notice this is your advanced notice like
24 hours from
today yeah we could do it at 12:45
tomorrow Bert’s not going to go anywhere
there’s food I’m not worried about you
going anywhere there’s food what kind of
eating contest like like a volume like
man versus food type of Deal or like a
spicy food type of deal I think a spicy
food type of deal I don’t I don’t know
what Bert’s level of heat is I know you
can you can equit yourself pretty well
uh George at the factory in Franklin at
Hatty bees last time was not able to
undo you though his goal was to
incapacitate you by the end of the
broadcast with just a tender just use a
a single Hatty bees tender to
incapacitate you on air and by the end
of the show he got you with the shut the
cluck up oh I paid for
it worth it
now the the way that I think we should
orchestrate this is I think we should
live stream it and I think it say say
somebody donates $500 to Leukemia
Lymphoma Society Bert would have to eat
a shut the cluck up tender I like that I
like that as a game we’ll we’ll Force
Bert to do that and then maybe I’ll
consider going on one of these antiquing
trips that he continues to invite me
on yeah I mean I’m game if ber is Hatty
bees always delivers they they don’t
mess around no they will the winner will
be a deserved winner hady bees will make
sure of
it um and for those of you who are
asking us for Masters coverage we’ve
just recruited the best M Masters
analysts around Titans uh former Titans
punter Brett Kern is going to join us
this week and he uh is going to be our
golf analyst as is the custom so we’re
looking forward to having Brett on I I
did mention that we were going to be at
Hatty bees tomorrow so logistically if
it makes more sense for Brett tomorrow
as opposed to schlepping down here to
the studio on uh deuman he can we uh we
might be able to do that at hadti bees
we’ll fure out that be great a lot of
Titans pressures tomorrow yes we have
head coach Brian Callahan we have
offensive coordinator Nick Holtz we have
defensive coordinator dard Wilson all of
them are going to speak in the one day
of media availability this week as the
Titans began their offseason program
yesterday uh okay I think that’s all the
the news and notes that we have to
address should we do some polls
I guess we should all right then I
reckon I’ll talk about a poll
update this is Carl chers there’s a
young
fell I think he’s got the final numbers
here’s the producer of The Buck Rising
show a fell named Lucas
paniker got you mustard and
biscuits presented by Two Rivers Ford
the South’s most trusted Ford ER great
to hang out at their newly expanded
Commercial Vehicle Center yesterday in
Mount Juliet what in sports made you say
oh no this weekend Blake says South
Carolina being South Carolina and
beating Iowa they couldn’t let us have
the perfect ending to The caitland Clark
Story no instead we got the perfect
ending to the South Carolina story I
don’t get that like what and I know some
people favor Caitlyn Clark over Don
Staley or Camila cardosa or whatever the
case may be but think it’s fine to want
to have seen Caitlyn Clark cap what was
a an historic season with a national
title yeah but the perfect that’s fine
but the other one when you say the
perfect story the other one is literally
a perfect story undefeated it’s an
undefeated season so don’t give me the
perfect story when the other team is
literally perfect no but I get it like
Caitlyn Clark Story book season we were
just in awe of her all year long you
know youen wner this girl from Iowa and
she’s amazing at I then this machine
that is South Carolina just m eat your
State Farm commercials Caitlyn exactly I
mean it’s like Purdue right Purdue
finally gets that final four monkey off
its back they’re there Zach Ed’s do and
then Yukon just mow them down I wasn’t I
was happy to see Purdue lose I wasn’t
happy to see Caitlyn Clark lose but I’d
be lying to I I was I was in for LSU
upsetting Caitlyn Clark and I was down
for South Carolina beating her I just I
just wanted to see the best possible
basketball guy LSU South Carolina
National Championship definitely would
have been fun uh Kenneth says says oh no
is the Texans getting Stefan Diggs he
says I saw a bit too many Titans fans
coping or shrugging this
off yeah I I agree with that assessment
um you know it’s not a perfect deal for
the Texans but it’s a it’s a deal that
makes a lot of sense it’s going to make
them a hell of a lot harder to defend
but again it’s not about you it’s about
the Chiefs it’s about the Ravens it’s
about the Bengals it’s about the best in
the AFC they they don’t necessarily
they’re not making moves because they’re
threatened by the Titans the Titan are
trying to win the division from them the
Texans are trying to win the Super Bowl
who is the biggest threat ahead of the
Titans to take Joe Al 69% nice say it’s
the Chargers 11% say it’s the Giants 20%
say it’s an unknown team via trade the
Giants make less sense than the Chargers
do though I understand why Lucas was
pushing back so hard on the Chargers but
I think it I think it’s the most Jim
Harbaugh thing in the world why do the
Giants make less sense because Evan Neil
is a starting right tackle for them I
don’t he didn’t have th a good season
Andrew Thomas is a isn’t that the same
reasoning for why the Chargers wouldn’t
make sense because the Chargers have a
left tackle yeah but they don’t have a
right tackle that’s the that’s as dra
with drafted with the kind of pedigree
that Evan Neil was was first round so
what are we talking about with the
Chargers are we talking about that maybe
taking alt and putting him at right no
they’re talking about putting left uh
what’s what’s the name of the left
tackle right now Slater uh they’re
talking about taking Slater and moving
him to the right and putting alt on the
left I see I see is Kentucky basketball
a better job than you on 59% say
no uh Nathan who has a UK logo in his
Twitter account I’m sure there’s a bunch
of those says yes higher pay better
historical program SEC money has easier
access to high school talent that is
fair the high school talent in Kentucky
is very very good well it’s not just
about Kentucky it’s about Indiana it’s
about there’s you can I mean but I just
don’t think that stuff matters anymore I
don’t think the thing about a better
historical program matters like I don’t
care what you did under Adolf rup in
the’ 60s that means nothing what Yukon
has done in the last 20 years means so
much more than what you did in the 60s
7s and ‘ 80s what Yukon did in the last
two years means more than the’ 60s 7s
and 80s to the kids that you’re trying
to recruit they don’t give a damn about
Adolf upup well we have this discussion
we had this discussion a lot with Texas
A&M like what’s the better job Texas A&M
or Stanford you tell me bu what’s the
better job A&M or Stanford m might be
A&M it’s A&M who who’s got more history
Stanford’s got plenty of football
history but it’s about the climate and
the resources that you currently have
not what you did in the last five
decades and just access to recruits like
I know being able to take a drive as
opposed to a plane trip makes sense but
like to try and geofence recruiting
anymore in today’s landscape I just
don’t think that’s as big a hurdle as
people want to make it not as much with
the portal but I do think it is a factor
the uh Talent hot bed that is Kentucky
what does will Levis need more of in
2024 or what does he need more excuse me
in 2024 a left tackle or another
receiver 91% say a left tackle yeah I’m
with the 91% rarely am I with the 91%
but I will go with the 91% and those are
the polls excellent that’s the show come
hang out with us at Hatty bees tomorrow
the factory in Franklin we’ve got a big
show announcement with Hatty bees that
we’re very excited about and we can’t
wait to have you guys be a part of it
with us uh quick on the way out the door
congratulations to Logan Ryan who
announced his retirement earlier today I
know if you’ve been listening to the
Zone over a couple of years you remember
the Logan Ryan show it was a great uh it
was a great product during his time here
in Tennessee he was a great player for
the Titans during his time in Tennesse
and cool to see him call it a career on
his own terms after winning multiple
rings with a couple of different
organizations having competed in the
Super Bowl as recently as this year uh
after over a decade in professional
football congratulations Logan he was
always a great pleasure to cover and a
really high level player for a variety
of different franchises during his time
see you guys tonight on the prime time
show 800m and radio show tomorrow at
Hatty
