Solutions welcome to the 2024 spring
Sports here mmcu meet the team and we
are with the mmcu boys golf team here
today and uh starting things out with ay
coach Mark shitler and Coach how long
have you been have you been this my
fifth season with the boys um and tell
us a little bit about last season some
successes you had and maybe some things
they you want to well we have a lot of
returning players this year from a from
a vary Squad last year um uh had
practice rounds have been going really
well uh we got a group of what six
seniors I think that are going to carry
the varsity uh Team for the most part
 there’s there’s some sophomore sprinkled
in there too um as far as my top six
right now um but this is the best team
I’ve had in fin g 1 through 12 well and
with that I guess what are some goals
that you have for this squad well
the War Eagle conference is just tougher
than nails and golf um akan is going to
be salty or again gay was going to be
good uh I but I think we can also be in
that top four somewhere um last year we
finished uh what 7th I think um but I
think this year with the kids we got
coming back in the leadership I’d like
to see us in that top four somewhere and
tell us a little bit about your guys’ um
your preseason practice with the weather
being as nice as it was in marcher
probably gave you an opportunity to get
outside more than you were expecting and
then of course when it comes down to
actually having a meet then then you
have to deal us some the element right
right we talked about that as a team um
early that this is the most some of the
seniors is the most time we’ve spent
outside in the first two weeks of
practice than than we have uh you know
in several years past uh we’ve only used
the Nets two or three times this year
which has been great uh conditions
haven’t been ideal but everybody knows
 Spring Golf and Iowa is
 a is kind of you’re at Mother’s you’re
at Mother’s nature um what am I looking
for uh discretion discretion there you
go thank you yeah um no that that’s
great well and I guess best of luck to
you this spring coach um we got a great
group of guys here we’re going to run
through them uh but we appreciate your
time and uh you guys had a meet
 postponed yesterday have one scheduled
for tomorrow best of luck tomorrow and
and throughout the season appreciate it
thank you all right that’s Royals boys
golf coach Mark shitler in his fifth
season and uh we are going to run
through our golfers here first with
Kyler bour Kyler what grade are you in
I’m a senior and and Kyler obviously on
the the football field and basketball
court uh earlier this season so many of
you are going to know who he is but
Kyler how how many years you been out
for golf uh it just came out last year
and I did both Golf and track track one
so I only golfed in four meets for golf
last year but this year I’m doing it
fulltime fulltime okay um what are some
successes he had last year and and maybe
some goals he have for yourself this
year yeah uh last year I won my first
meet that I was in in remen and then I
placed top three in my second and then
after that I we had districts in
conference and I struggled a little bit
more in those 18 whole meets so I’d say
a goal of mine this year would be to do
better in those 18 whole meets and uh
obviously you’re trying to split time
like that it can be a a little difficult
to get the consistency as it’s that way
anyways trying to go in the spring it
seems like but uh well senior season um
what what are maybe some expectations
you have for your yourself and your team
um I would say for myself I’d like to be
at least scoring for every single meet
uh cuz the top four score and so I’d
like to score in every meet and then
hopefully get a couple of those top
three finishes and a couple of those top
one finishes as a team I’d like to uh at
least make it past uh districts so the
first round like to make it past that
first round have a chance at going to
State um obviously state is the ultimate
goal but I’d like to just have a chance
at least to go there you B best Lu to
you the spring Kyler thank you that’s
 Senor Kyler
boore next we have uh Mason Mason what
grade are you sophomore sophomore and uh
did you off for uh golf excuse me golf
last year no this is my first year first
season what made you want to go out uh I
don’t know I just played a lot this
 summer and
lot of fun in it so you bet out this
year you bet um and getting to go around
and golf some the other courses and
stuff that’s that’s a lot of fun it
seems like um well for your first season
what are some goals you have set for
 yourself uh I don’t know I really don’t
have much set for me because first year
it’s a little tough so honestly just
trying to get better just work myself up
to hopefully get in a better spot you’re
bet well best of luck to you this spring
and and any the future Seasons coming
 out for
 thank
you next we have Owen Trader Owen uh
grade I’m a senior as most probably knew
already and uh Owen how many years you
been out for golf uh this is my fourth
year of golf fourth year awesome um and
uh some successes you’ve had in the past
couple years uh so last year was my
first year at Varsity golf I won in a
couple meets and I got a couple top
threes that was really exciting um what
are some goals you have for yourself and
the team the spring uh some goals I have
for myself is making top three almost
every meet for me um winning a couple
meets and for team I just want to like
get better make it stay cuz I think we
have the potential to make it there you
bet well it’s last go around and uh best
of luck to you this spring thank you so
 your own
 Trader next we have
uh Noah Noah is also a I’m also a
senior how many years you been out for
golf Noah I’ve been out um four years
four years as well so a lot of
experience here how many years have you
golfed far SE uh I’ve golfed every year
I just I bounce back and forth between
JB and varsity sometimes what are some
successes you’ve had in the past at
Varsity L uh I won I think two meets so
far and any particular goals that you
have for yourself here this spring I
didn’t make it a varsity cut this week
so I’m going to hope to prove myself and
make it to the varsity level you bet
well it certainly gives you that
motivation and uh and uh something to
shoot for there for yourself so awesome
Noah well once again your last go around
senior year uh best luck this spring
year as well thank you senior Noah
Gallas a lot of familiar faces right
next we have Cody Evans Cody what grade
uh senior as well senior as well um how
many years you been off for golf C uh
all four all four um have you how many
years experience do you have on first uh
I’ve been off and on like Noah did um
I’ve been on my freshman year I was on
it in sophomore and Junior so hopefully
this year I’m on JV this year too right
now hopefully I can work up to the
varsity five or four spot it sounds like
you guys really have some you have some
depth and some competition for those
varsity spots this year don’t yes we do
yeah and that’s going to make everybody
better which is awesome um what are some
successes you’ve had in the past and
what are some goals you have for
yourself this spr um just having fun I
guess just not trying to stress out
about it and and the goals just uh make
it on Varity again and have fun up there
too well golf being such a mental game
if he can clear everything out of your
head that’s uh that’s going to be the
best interest for everybody isn’t it
yeah that’s what I try to do well best
of luck to you this thank you very much
 you
bet and lastly we got a dual sport
athlete in his senior season in the
spring once again it is Mitchell schnap
Mitchell a senior um obviously we SE him
on the tracks the track meet the team as
well but Mitchell how many years you
been out for golf oh this will be my
third year third year um tell us a
little bit about your varsity experience
uh I really haven’t golfed Varsity every
 time there’s a golf Meet n I don’t have
a track meet normally gets canell but uh
I’ve golfed three or four and average
around 50 so on that jb3 jb4 spot so
okay um and just you know when you split
in double duty like that between track
and go it’s hard to get that sustain
that consistency as well so um but what
are some goals you have for yourself
this spring MIT uh to stay down in the
mid-40s uh game from last year’s
definitely gotten a lot better uh I’m
just keeping my drive straight since
baseb starting trying to get making sure
I don’t get that baseball swing in there
there you go uh any particular meat
you’re looking forward to uh just any
meat outside of here I like going to
different courses and just off from
there so you guys and I haven’t looked
at your schedule but you have any uh
Neer courses in Northwest Iowa that
you’re scheduled to play this uh spring
sometime uh I like golfing at Pina
probably Pina or primard I like golfing
there those are really only outside golf
courses at golf dead you bet well best
luck to you this spring Mitch right
thank you at senior Mitchell schnip and
 we have
 one more and it
is Mr C C You are a sophomore correct
yep um C how many years you been out for
golf uh both years both years um tell us
a little bit about your freshman season
um what all right I hope you play better
than I did but hoping to shoot a little
better this year is a freshman where you
mainly on Varsity or JV uh kind of off
and on my year okay competitive in that
way then uh what are some goals you have
for yourself this year uh hoping to
 hopefully win a meet and
score lower 40s this year instead of
getting up to those High 40s 50 so and
talk a little bit about the team since
you’re the last one but what are some
some uh just amongst you and your your
teammates what are some goals you guys
have for yourself or some expectations
um well obviously the end goal is to
make State when the conference meet all
that I think we’ve got some guys that
can shoot low this year so
hopefully do a little better than we did
 last year and
 this improve competition
wise thanks for joining us C best of
luck to you in the spring thank you that
 sophomore Cen
Olen we’re not done yet I lied we have
 at least one more
we have sophomore classmate Michael schm
 Michael thanks for joining us
um did uh it first or second year second
year second um tell us a little bit
about your freshman campaign uh I
started as Varsity 5 and then I worked
up to Varsity 2 at the end of last year
so that was a goal congratulations
 that’s a great great goal as a as a
freshman um obviously you made some very
 positive
strides what how do you how do you plan
to keep that trajectory going going in a
 positive direction just keep keep
hitting the same I guess I don’t know
getting better at small things or
 everything the consistency aspect of
that can be so tough in golf um what are
some goals you have for yourself this
year uh to win a me I guess and then the
end goal is to go to state I guess um I
guess I’ll leave it at that Michael and
uh thanks for joining us best of luck
this spring to you guys thank you that’s
 sophomore Michael
 schellin
 and here comes another
dual sport athlete yes and we have Blake
b Blake what grade sof all right that’s
that’s what I thought I just want to um
Blake on the track team as well uh how
many years you been out for golf uh I
did golf first last year so two okay um
what were what how’ your freshman
campaign go um not great I’m not going
to lie well at least you’re honest did
you play some on the the JB side then um
what are some goals you have set for for
 your selfish
um with golf I’m just kind of focusing
on get better as like an overall player
for the summer um any particular meats
or cares you’re looking forward to
playing I like playing land very last
year yeah that’s one of my favorites too
um one of the nice things about high
 school golf getting those opportunities
to play some of those courses around um
but yeah I guess uh just around being
around your teammates and team a lot of
positive vibes there you guys have some
champ coach mentioned one of the better
squads he’s have here in the last few
years uh best luck to you guys this
 spring thank you m
kinsky Here Comes Mr Hull and one yes
sir that is Camden BG Camden what grade
are you in I’m a sophomore and uh Camden
first or second year off the BR uh
second year second tell us a little bit
about your freshman season yeah freshman
season first meet I started off JV and I
scored the lowest for our team and so
got kicked up to Varsity and then from
there on and played varsity and played
in the district and the conference me
and found found a good spot in Varsity
and really talking with Michael A lot of
the same positive Trends going for
yourself but how do you keep that
trajectory going upward to get yourself
even better uh good confidence level
like being very positive have everyone
has a bad hit even Tiger Woods I mean
you watch him play in a PGA T and you’ll
still have a bad shot but yeah keeping
my head up and always staying locked in
what what are some goals that you have
for yourself c um I’d say probably
averaging around the 40 to 39 level
staying staying lower than last year
last year averaging 43 I’d rather stay
down yeah 39’s is a good number to have
yeah well best of luck to you and and
great I’d say a great level for the goal
there and amongst a lot of you guys so
best luck to you guys this spring thank
you next we have uh Max schn Max what
grade are you I’m a sophomore sophomore
and uh first or second season uh first
first okay uh what made you want to go
out for golf this year um to be honest I
didn’t really like track so I just
wanted to do something else besides
track just to stay active so I chose
golf I thought you were going to say you
want to go out so you can beat your
 brother
 right that
too um um max what what are some goals
that you have for yourself this FR um
just to do good in golf like stay under
a 50 just cuz like first year and I’m on
JB just kind of want to stay at a solid
 level level
 consistency any particular meets or
 courses you’re looking forward to
playing just like just to play in meets
is my goal well best of luck to you Ma
 thank
 [Music]
you next we have BR Bron uh great oh
freshman freshman and uh obviously first
season out for golf tell us a little bit
about uh your golf experience what made
you want to go out for golf I just
always like the golf so I went out this
year uh just hopefully get better this
year um any particular goals you have
for yourself uh hopefully make a couple
JV meets and any cour or any uh courses
or meets that you’re looking forward no
not really nothing nothing particular M
all right well we’ll come back and ask
this question next year and you’ll
 probably have a favorite course
somewhere else you’re going to go shoot
a 40 and in Orange City and you’ll love
landsmere too so well best of luck to
 you bra
and uh and yeah come up the spring y
 thank
you and that’s going to wrap it up for
the boys golf team here in the me team
 for the 2024
season we are going to roll it over into
 the girls
team hi hi coach how are you good how
are you good do we have Co coach Kendra
M with us and Coach how long have you
been the coach um this is my seventh
year seventh that’s crazy right I know
it is um tell us a little bit about this
year Squad um I have 17 girls um which
 is awesome it’s a lot but it’s a it’s a
good number um I have one that is
actually going through some health stuff
so she’s just doing our manager this
year so 16 players um four of them
returners that shoot pretty low scores
so we’ve got a pretty set varsity team
two spots that are kind of open for some
newbies um I’ve got Four Freshman three
sophomores um and a junior that just
came out this year um I think my my
freshmen are really going to step it up
this year I hope um and we’ll have four
years out of quite a few of them so it’s
it’s just nice to see younger girls
getting into the sport and some of them
already had experience um and coming in
and not having to you know start from
scratch in the basics which is really
nice um but at the same time I really
enjoy teaching the fundamentals and kind
of going through that stuff so we’ve
have we have a lot of good strength but
we have a lot of new um girls that’ll be
awesome additions to the team and I
think after talking with all the coaches
the one Trend that you can see in all
the sports is the the depth and you’re
starting to have more of that um talk a
little bit about the your expectations
for the team with with your four
returning uh start um we had an 8 and 11
record overall last year within the
 conference with the conference
 tournament
um and obviously my goal is always to
have a winning Conference record um I
think this year Unity not being in the
conference will help a little bit um
because they were all very very good
golfers obviously um but we have quite a
few like glrs team um they’re pretty
small so coming into this year making
sure we know kind of where we stand as a
team um and like you said developing
those next couple years um but my goal
obviously winning record is the biggest
thing um but also experiencing new Co
 new courses
we’ve never played at George some of
these girls have never played at Lake
Park um primar even like we have quite a
few away meets that we tend to see later
in the season as well um so just the
experience and developing that for the
girls is a huge part of this year you
bet that’s awesome well best of luck to
you this spring and the rest of the team
here but we’ll jump right into it and
 meet them thanks coach thank
you first joining us is Mike and you in
what grade I am a senior okay well I
think mostly everybody knew that but I
just had to ask um how many years You’
been out for golf um I’ve always done it
when like little leagues but I went out
for track my freshman year and I didn’t
do it my sophomore year and I thought I
should join and keep myself busy you bet
um so what are some successes you’ve had
in the past and what are some goals you
have this spring um success I got to
play JV last year which was fun you know
Del par plus one you know always a joy
having um so some goals I have is to
keep my Varsity spot and just be
positive and be a good team leader and
do my best every meet you know what
would you say or some um just between
you and being being a senior leader um
between you and your teammates what are
some of the expectations you guys have
for yourselves this year um I think just
staying positive since there’s so many
of us and it’s you can’t golf all 17 of
us in one meet you know um so being
positive and leading with a good example
is always the eadership role that’s a a
good mindset to have well best of luck
to you this spring man thank you so much
 you
bet next we have Kaye graen Kaylee and
Kaye what grade are you I’m a senior
senior as well uh how many years of
experience um well I’ve done High School
golf all four years but um I’ve golfed
since I was in like third grade I think
yeah um what are some uh accomplishments
you’ve had the first three seasons um
I’m medled in the St Mary’s meet last
season I think I got third place so that
was pretty great it was my first medal
but and what are some goals you have for
 yourself this spring definitely
improving my average it’s not very low
but but there’s always room for
improvement so you bet well and
something to strive for so right exactly
um well best of luck to you the spring
 Kaye thank
 you senior Kaye
grabish next we have Cindy career syney
what grade I am a junior Junior uh how
many years you been out for golf um well
this is my third year but I started when
I was younger you bet um what are some
of the uh accomplishments you’ve had in
the first couple of Seasons oh I pretty
good golfer I mean my averages have
improved immensely and I just love golf
 and
medaling so how many times have you
meddled oh a couple times like three
maybe or so but what what are some goals
you have for yourself this year
definitely improving on my medaling you
bet and average and how about some
expectations for the team I just hope
all the girls start to get along and we
start like meeting new friends and
that’s that’s the best thing about golf
meet people you bet a lot a lot more
besides just the game isn’t there well
Sydney thanks for joining us best of
 luck this spring thank
you next we have Cassie W Cassie what
grade are you I’m a junior junior uh how
many seasons have you been out for golf
uh three years three and any Varsity
experience the first couple years yes
all my years all your okay and uh what
are some accomplishments you have from
the first couple of Seasons I meddled
quite a bit of times and I also meddled
at conference and had a pretty low
average so that’s a medling at
conference is a difficult thing to hear
so that’s that’s awesome uh what are
some goals that you have for yourself
this year hopefully to like have lower
scores this year have a lower average
and have fun well best best of luck to
 you this spring
cast next we have Kylie har Kylie and
the grade you’re gr I’m a junior junior
um how many years you been out for golf
this is my second second season uh did
you go out last year then yes um so did
you have what kind of success did you
have last year your r on team um I kind
of went out for fun just for something
to do and uh I think golf’s good hobby
to kind of pick up so I would say I
definitely improved Golf and it start
out very good but um you got to start
somewhere right yeah and definitely with
golf like you don’t feel the pressure as
other sports I’m like year round athlete
and golf is mainly just yourself and
what you do so much more on the mental
side is yeah what what are some of your
goals that you have for yourself this
year to continue to improve my game and
then also have some more fun we’ll pass
the Lu to you this spring Kylie thank
 you Junior
Kylie next we have rean hell Reagan what
grade are you I’m a sophomore sophomore
um did you go last year yes so this is
season number two yep uh so last year
your rle on the team did you off some
varsity JV I was on JV JV okay um what
are some goals that you have set for
yourself this year um improving my score
hopefully getting lower than like a 60
hopefully B um any courses that you’re
 looking forward to playing somewhere
besides here just home I love playing
here yeah that’s that’s awesome the best
of Lu to you the spring all
right as coach said 17 girls out on the
 squad this
season next we have Emma Ericson Emma
and what grade are you in Emma sophomore
sophomore as well um first or second
season now this is my second season
second and tell us a little bit about
your role as a freshman um I played a
little bit of JB but I usually practice
I got a lot of practice in almost every
day and um em I get some expectations
for yourself or goals for yourself this
spr I definitely want to improve my
score but I want to improve my attitude
and my mindset a lot and still hoping to
consistently would you say one of those
goals maybe consistently JB and be that
make that Squad and that’s the tough
thing you know in high school gol he get
six in one you get six in the next so
right um but no best of luck to you H
 thank
 [Music]
you next we have Brianna sh Brianna what
grade are you at I’m sopore sophomore um
first or second season out second second
and tell us a little bit about your
 freshman campaign
uh so last year I have played one JV and
I practiced a lot first time going out
so I wasn’t expecting a good score but
I’ve improved a lot would you say that
you really enjoyed it yeah yeah it’s I
it’s to me it’s one of the more
enjoyable Sports and like I said it’s
more of the mental side but chance to
get out and just kind of do your thing
and and not have too much pressure in
yourself right yeah um so what are some
goals that you have for yourself this
year uh probably just improving my score
 and making it on the
J you bet best Lu to you this spring
 thank
you next we have S UD s what grade are
you in um I’m a sophomore sophomore in
first or second season out this is my
first season first season what made you
want to go out for golf well I did track
last year and then I just decided it
wasn’t really for me and I want to stay
involved so decided you want to go out
for golf and try to beat your sister I
be I had I just had to say it but so um
what are some goals that you have for
yourself in your first season um I mean
I’d like to see varsity once at
least make my way up there how how so do
you have plenty I know it’s your first
season out in high school but a lot of
golfing experience in the past yeah my
dad usually takes this out a lot in the
summer well best of luck to you this
 spring thank you
next we have sophomore classmate Kalia
 dman
Kalia yeah first or second season out
this is my first first season what made
you want to go out for golf um well I
quit track and then I just was like I
should do something and I golf in the
summer a lot and I did little leek so
I’m like let’s just try it out and see
if I like it you bet what are some goals
that you have for yourself in your first
 season um
 probably to just have
fun that well as we mentioned it’s an
enjoyable sport so hopefully and it just
improve every day but hopefully the
weather clears up for you guys a little
bit too yeah hopefully so we can get
out it’s no fun hitting net on inside
the time is it yeah well best of luck
 this SP Clea thank
you next we have Lana FL
Lana and also a sophomore Y and Lana is
this your first or second season out
this is my first season first season
what made you want to go year um well I
just stopped there and track because
like it’s a lot of work and golf’s
pretty easy and I like golfing in the
summer so could improve in that oh he’s
kind of been Hobby and now you want to
try to high school yeah bet um what are
some goals that you have for yourself
the first season um just to like do good
in JV maybe see some varsity and get
some low scores you bet any courses
you’re looking forward to playing um I
don’t really know what like the courses
look like but like like I want to see
some challenging courses and see how
good we do on those you bet well best of
luck you this spring L thank
you next we have board Olivia and what
grade are you I’m a freshman freshman um
so what made you decide to walk gol um
I’m just to try something new is
something that you’ve golfed quite a bit
in the past or just something you want
to to try um I golfed a little bit in
the past and this is probably most of
golfing just going out you bet what what
are some of your expectations for the
golf season what do you what what do you
imagine this being um just to have fun
with our team and get some low scores
you bet and any goals that you have for
yourself um just try my best I guess I
don’t know bet well best of luck you
 this spring thank
you we are getting into some of a
 freshman freshman
yes next we have Ella Draper Ella also a
freshman yeah and uh and Ella a lot of
we got some golf history in your family
I know your mother’s a very good golfer
um so just tell us a little bit about
your experience on the golf course
growing up well I’ve been golfing on
this course pretty much my whole life so
I kind of know it pretty good um what
are some goals that you have for
yourself this year um definitely some
lower scores cu the beginning of the
Season my scores weren’t that low but um
just to get better well and not being
able to play outside and in tough
conditions doesn’t make it any easier
does it um any courses that you’re
looking forward to playing this year um
just some like challenging ones I don’t
really know more than marus and
Cherokee getting an opportunity to play
some of the different ones around here
yeah awesome well best of luck this
 spring Al thank
you next we have Ali olon and Ally uh
freshman as well yep um and what made
you want to go out for golf uh I’ve been
golfing for a long time so I just it’s
fun it’s a good hobby to have enjoy
doing it what are some goals that you
have for yourself this year uh probably
to play a little Varsity hopefully and
and just to lower my scores and have fun
all around and uh what are some
expectations you have from the team uh
just to try our best and yeah have fun
see what happens right awesome thanks
Ellie thank you best of luck this spring
 thank
you and last but certainly not least we
have Gracie Sher Gracie and you are a uh
I’m a freshman freshman as well okay
 that’s that’s what I thought um Gracie
tell us a little bit about your golf
history or experience um well I’ve been
golfing since I’ve been younger I did
near Golf League in remson basically
since I’ve been able to and I decided
 just to try out golf
um what are some goals that you have for
yourself this year um to get a low score
to do better and hopefully beat my
 brother one day and
go I was going to ask the question see I

just being a part of you bet you lot of
upper class that you can look up to and
learn some things from as well um any
goals that you set for yourself uh I
want to throw at least 105 in disc nice
well that’s a good goal to set uh best
of luck this spring all right thank you
and I think that’s going to do it for
our throwers we’re getting into some of
 our Runners
now we a feel a few field field the uh
field Specialists coming up here too but
now we have with us Ken Kaden a lot of
success over the last couple years go
ahead and tell us what grade you’re in
first I’m a senior senior a lot of
success the last couple years what are
some goals you have for yourself here in
this senior campaign uh goal for this
year be to go the state to in
participating in at state track the last
couple years um what what place did you
finish in last year in the two mile Ken
I believe 12 or 13 trying to climb that
ladder do you have obviously you want to
win that thing and and shave some time
off but um what are some of the steps
that you’re taking to get better each
and every day to get there just making
 sure to
got a few of these guys that can push
you a little bit I suppose
right well Kayon best of luck this
spring to you and uh and hopefully get
another trip around the blue oval thank
you next we have oh Clint stop Clint
what grade are you I’m a junior junior
and what are some events that you
participate in the two mile and the one
mile all right also a distance Runner so
we’re going to get a bunch of Runners
 coming up they’re next
group where where you at in that pack
besides Kaden you’re ahead of the rest
 of
 them
mediocre yeah well go ahead and uh tell
me you guys did have a meet last night
tell me how that went for you and what
are some goals that you have for this
upcoming spring uh I got second in the
two mile and the one mile obviously
behind Kaden and a goal would be to get
under five minutes on my mile time and
get awesome Clint best of luck to you
this spring thank you that was Junior
 Clint
stab the distance specialist now we have
 a junior coming
up uh my name is Lucas Brown Lucas uh
tell us some of the events that you’re
involved in uh do high jump and long
jump and 4×8 and also 4×4 and uh a
little bit of the Jack of all trades lot
of success in the long jump and high
jump uh tell us about your campaign last
year on those field events and what are
some goals specifically for them this
spring last year qualified for state for
high jump and just barely missed it on
long jump so hopefully I’ll go back to
state for those two this year and not
just go to state but maybe medal in both
of them and then also same like 4×8 went
to State last year hoping to go again
this year for that and 4×4 will just see
what we can kind of do this year this
pretty much improved times you bet a lot
of experience coming back um what’s
personal best for a high jump for 62
hoping for 64 this year best of luck to
you and good luck this spring overall
 thank
 you Junior Lucas
Brown Next we have Carson Carson what
grade are you a freshman freshman and
what obviously you got your brother to
look up to but uh your freshman campaign
here and uh in the high school ranks
what are some goals that you have set
 for yourself
 uh keep getting better
anding hope get better what are some uh
what are some of the events that you’re
 going to
 participate all right another another
distance Runner I’d say the other
schools around here are going to get
tired of seeing M Gallas last name at
the top of the leaderboard what do you
say let’s do it awesome well best of
luck to you this spring in the next
 couple years thank
you next we have uh Connor Galls Conor
what grade are you freshman freshman and
what are some events that you
participated um open four 4 by 8 open
eight one mile some of those mid-range
distances uh any field events at all no
um do you have any goals set for
yourself here this spring I’m definitely
get my 800 time down near 215 and just
getting back into it that’s a pretty
lofty goal that 215 range certainly
helps the the relay out and makes it
very competitive on the individual side
of things um on the 400 side any goal
there for a time no no not whatever
happens right yeah well thanks for
joining us and best of luck this spring
 thank
you next we have Brandon Dr Brandon what
grade are you sophomore and what events
are you in 400 and 800 or so mid-range
guys we got few of them coming up it
looks like y um individual or are you in
some relays I am in relays I did the 4
by and 4×4 last night okay so probably
sticking mostly to realiz this this
spring um tell us a little bit about
some success you had last year and what
you wanted to do to build off of that
well I really cut my time down from
coming up to high school last year and
this year I’m hoping to really knock my
time down in the 800 under 210 but the
lofty goals for we get is the 800 that’s
one of the toughest races the old Half
Mile Sprint yeah it’s pretty tough well
best of luck to you thanks for joining
us thank you very much that was
 sophomore Brandon
drekman and we have sophomore classmate
have Wyatt Wyatt and uh Wy what do you
specializ it fours and eights um why did
you make it to State last year track
that’s 4 by eight okay and looking for a
return trip this year I am um what are
you planning on doing to to get improve
that time overall uh both for yourself
and for the the relay team um and uh and
how you plan getting there working out
more doing some stuff trying to get down
to a 205 so getting there everybody I
talked to you it started at 215 210 now
we’re at 20:5 so I guess when when Jonah
comes next he’s going to say 200 or 2
 minute
flat but um I guess uh any other goals
that you set specifically for for
yourself why um I’m going to try to make
it to the open AG awesome best of luck
to you this spring thank you
what next we have Jon Jonah future Mings
side Mustang football field um Jon what
are some events that you participate in
uh I’m in the shuttle hle and I do the
high hurdles and then um I’ll probably
get full okay starting to get a few of
the the sprinting races here um tell us
a little bit about the hurdles how long
you been doing them for uh good I’ve
been doing them since middle school and
um obviously myth got cut short with Co
but um been doing them ever since then
and doing good well those just takes a
lot of gas out of you um takes a special
individual to be successful at the
hurdles it seems like but uh uh what are
some successes you’ve had in the first
three years on the track and uh what are
some things that you want to accomplish
 this spring oh yeah
um this year I think we have the most
experience um experien is right word but
um maybe the best athlete sh pretty
special things in that and then every
 year on the high been
Improvement through that try trying to
low my time on that well that’s that’s
great Jonah best of luck this spring and
and uh everything else coming for you

some success in the long jump correct
yeah recently okay well what are you
doing to help improve that uh we

S uh basically all short business
besides the okay uh relays in individual
races both I both a little bit of both
um what are you’ve been this third year
out for track then uh this is my second
I did not s sofom okay so you’re back
out this year then um maybe some
successes you had ref freshman and uh
and how you’re looking to build off that
dish uh I didn’t really get
so better this year I’ve already knocked
 off
to well best of luck to you this spring
and uh get back in the saddle and back
on the track yeah thank you thank Tatum
 hix
Junior looks like we have a another
 Junior coming

100 200 some various different relays uh
to try this year oh good for you and the
uh talk a little bit about the field
side the shop fo have you had some
success in the past of that yeah last
year my y was around 44 ft so too bad
and I did pretty good so get better at
 that
awesome and any uh goals that you have
either on in the field or on the track
like I said sh I want to hit 46 47 and
 then just drop time
200 you the best of Lu team this spr
 thank you Michael
Peterson next we have mould Grayson a

back you guys have everybody returning
from that 4 we lost last year but we got
some looking to start climbing the
ladder best of luck to you anything else
that you can think of that you want to
add as far as any goals or yep just get
better every day right yep pretty much
 thanks Grayson best luck this
spring next we have Gage Johnson Gage
Johnson Gage what grade are you
in what events are you participating in
the spr uh charl hurdle yesterday I ran
the decent but uh I think I might change
and then for hurles 400 hurdles that
might be the worst race in the whole me
everybody says that but I don’t think so
I can say that cuz I used to run it and
I was just absolutely terrible about it
um how’ you do last night in uh I got
first with a time of like a minute flat
and some seconds but my PR was 59 and
some seconds last year so with the
weather and first year that’s pretty
good time well that’s awesome Gage um
any other goals you have specifically
 this year making state
 [Music]
 that’s sophomore Gage
 [Music]
 Johnson next we
have Jacob uh first as a freshman first
season for for high school track um what
are some things that you’re involved
with for uh I run shut
hurdle 4 okay um any particular goals
that you have for any those races that
 you’re
in and you guys with uh with Jody you
guys got a pretty good team shuttle
hurdle side of things yeah we do good um
I guess are there any other goals that
you can think of on a broader range um
honestly just keep improving every day
practice awesome best luck to you Jacob
 next we
have great sophomore what are some
events that you’re at the distance Med
4×2 okay uh on the distance Med what’
you run on that 200 200 okay so we’re
into some sprinting um were you on any
of those relays that made the state last
year BL uh no last year oh did you okay
so this is this your first season out
for track uh I technically to track last
 year
 but golf first
okay I see um what are some goals that
you have set for yourself here this
spring uh I’d like to run
73 200 and 42 awesome um well I got to
ask then are you doing golf as well this
spring yeah double duty good for you
that uh two practices a night that gets
to be quite a bit doesn’t it best of
luck on the track and on the course that
 sophomore Blake binski
next we have Parker Parker what grade
sop sophomore Parker also on the wrestl
M this past winter for the Royals
wrestling uh what are some events that
you’re involved in on the track side a
little everything you know hundreds 200
400 um mostly short distances though um
out of those three do you have a
specialty you like one more than the
other I don’t mind 400 Hest but yeah
 it’s a 400 m spring
I don’t know that to me you have to dig
deep for that one so um any goals that
 you have for
yourself just be better get faster try
to better myself as a whole athlete for
other sports as well TR every sport you
bet that’s a great way to look at it
Parker best of luck this spring to you
all right thank you that Parker glass
maker next we have Kaden Kaden um what
grade sof sophomore and what events that
are you in uh uh I 100 and started the
spr and I did a jbu 4×1 last night so a
lot of hundreds a lot of hundreds well
 at least some short right
yeah um were you alha track last year as
a freshman c um what was some successes
that you had last year and what are you
going to do this year to try to improve
that even more um I didn’t run terrible
times I guess last year so I just want
to run better times you bet how with
some endurance and speed I suppose yeah
stay quick for football and wrestling
you bet well thanks for joining us here
 have a great spring thank
you next we have Eli Eli uh grade
freshman and some events that you uh I
was in the Sprint Med open two and 4×1
okay uh sport Med what’ you running that
I ran the 200 like 200 okay um what are
some and I assume that you were probably
out for track in in middle school as
well um a lot of the same events you run
in high school uh what were some
successes you had in middle school and
and how can that translate to high
school um IA like the times and just
improving in high school and getting
points for the team you bet competition
obviously gets a little stiffer doesn’t
it uh any goals for yourself that you
have uh i’ say just improve my time as
the best I can and yeah you bet well
thanks for joining us and best of luck
this spring thank you freshman Eli
har next we have Gavin pegas Gavin what
grade freshman freshman what’s are some
events that you’re at I was in the open
400 okay uh another 400 hurdler you have
 my
sympathies uh Gavin um so did you run
hurdles in middle school as well they so
it’s carried over fairly well um
any goals that you have between those
couple of races this year probably just
working all my time you bet
um running participating on vars side in
both of those as well uh just open 400
400s okay well best of luck this spring
 to
 You Gavin pacus a
freshman next we have RJ RJ what grade
freshman and what are some events that
you’re in uh Sprint men and 4×1 Sprint
men 4×1 um what leg of the Sprint men
second is 200 100 yeah two 100s and you
bet okay um so you guys had your first
meet last night how did everything go uh
we got this qualified oh that was not a
good question to ask was it well it’s
the first meet of the year come on
right it happens plenty of room for
 improvement then
right um what are some goals that you
have for yourself goals keep on getting
faster um no more JB merity by the end
of the season hopefully you bet well
best of luck to you RJ thank
you next we have Luke Luke uh great
freshman freshman what are some events
that you’re at I do high jump shuttle
and high hurdle uh how are things going
in the high not great not great well so
have you done did you do some high jump
in middle school then no I started this
year okay well best of luck to you it’s
tough to take something new on you know
as well but uh what are some goals that
you have for yourself in the season I
plan to definitely take a couple seconds
off my hurdle time first meet was all
right I set a goal and then kind of
going to improve off there we got a few
hurdlers through here and you guys uh
you got to be tough-minded individual
for that so uh best of luck to you Luke
and uh have a great spring thank
you and we are down to our last but not
 least
uh so 8o sorry saw 8o uh what grade
freshman and what events are you at I
did the 4X one and the um shoot I can’t
think the opened 400 last night okay and
out of the out of the two uh what what
do you like better definitely the 4X one
Sprint 400 is not a fun race yeah that’s
a quarter mile Sprint that’ll get you
too um and I’m sorry what grade you see
freshman freshman Okay g b middle uh
middle school then too okay so you have
some experience there uh what are some
successes you had in middle school and
and what are you going to do school we
broke the 4×4 record last year um I got
way faster and just my goals for this
year probably just improve on my time
and just be better as an athlete okay um
well if you guys broke the little School
record for the 4×4 obviously had some
success there yeah uh well thanks for
joining us here P to walk this spr to
 you and
the next couple years thank you so much
that is a me too or yeah we can get we
got assistant coach Kyle Oswald in here
for the boys track team this will
actually work out really well as we had
coach Colin y at the end and Coach
Oswald you guys had you guys had uh meat
last night give us a little bit of a
recap of that uh kids did really well
weather conditions the way they were and
they’re all freezing their tail off I
get the benefit of wearing seven layers
and and telling them you’re not cool um
but yeah uh it started off pretty strong
um with a lot of good relays and whatnot
um we feel very blessed and fortunate
that we can feel the full team and then
some uh that’s definitely a great thing
to have some depth I know when we first
got the Y started it wasn’t always the
case we were hoping to maybe get six in
a lot of places and a lot of uh meat so
uh not just only to win meets but see
our kids compete and get some decent
times and really conditions um was
awesome and I get to run back and forth
and yell so that’s always in the group
that you have you can just tell that
they’re very competitive in got the
depth but not only that you know that
carries a room of sports as well but you
can just see it on track last year they
had a lot of success a lot of those guys
are back this year looking to have a lot
of success there too um where where
would you say their mindset are as far
as trying to get even more uh events to
the to the blue over this year and then
the ones that did make it last year how
do they climb the ladder to finish out
that uh well one of the goals is
probably to we want to have expectations
but we don’t want them to be so
overburdensome that it cripples us and
so being able to have those guys uh that
have experience and the desire to get
back there leave and bring up those
younger guys is is something we want in
every sport football or track or or any
sport as well I to a coach but um that
uh is a great thing the guys that have
made it um they enjoy being down know
what it takes to be there they want to
push themselves and they’re not just
assuming they’re going to get back there
so that speaks of the competition we had
in the area before um and then coaches
set some pretty high expectations as far
as trying to uh win our conference and
maybe winner District meet and uh
experiments on how to do that and the
nice thing is when we go through instead
of figuring who are we going to put in
is who are we going to have to hold out
and uh so that that creates healthy
competition I think in between the guys
themselves and um and Co all to be
better I hope and and uh the nice thing
is that at the meets we can see that
camaraderie come out as well and one of
the great things is watching them cheer
each other on around the track and
celebrate with each other and get some
good things done so I hope hope that
will help uh continue to spring board
 throughout the season and hopefully
another month we’ll be sending a a great
goal have take a bus down to De Mo it
wouldn’t be fun to drive it but I’ll do
it well you guys a lot of success last
year um I think the expectations are Sky
High this year as well um healthy good
healthy competition with as many uh boys
as you guys have out best of luck to you
this spring and uh you’re on a lot of
success all right well thank you very
much and that is Royals coach Kyle
Oswell and the boys side of things and
we that will wrap up the the mmcu boys
side of things we’re going to go ahead
and move into the the mmcru track and
field on the girls side and we will
 start
 with one of the coaches
 yes got
Royals girls track and field head coach
Lonnie broke out with us and Coach you
guys coming off some success last night
 right away obviously the conditions
weren’t great as as coach UD had said
and Coach oswal but uh what a what a
great step forward for the girls to come
out and get a victory right off the bat
last night yeah it was a lot of fun uh
you know we’ve been working hard for
over a month and it was finally time to
uh improve some things and uh it was a
great opportunity you know a lot of
schools our size and uh you know we’ve
got lots of depth right now not a lot of
experience but lots of depth so we could
double up on all but one event and I
think we scored in all but one event
last night uh yeah when it started
sleeping and kind of hailing there for a
little bit we were wondering maybe a
little bit while we were there but but
it all paid off in the end and we had a
lot of fun and and it was a good night
and I think everybody had fun um talk a
little bit about some positives that the
girls had last spring and uh and what
you’re looking for them to to build off
of this spring yeah I think you know
just looking at last year we we
struggled with some injuries and and
lack of depth uh but this year you know
we’ve got you know some lots of New
Comers to the team both freshman and and
uh some new people in the team so what
we’re really going to BU build on this
year is that that strength of our depth
uh you know we’ll we’ll score a lot of
points this year um you know and like a
 situation last night we’re basically
trying to catch the person in front of
your front of you you know you can’t
 really concentrate on times and
distances and Heights and that type of
thing on a night like last night but uh
I think you know our goal is to get
better each and every time we step out
in the track and that’s kind of what
we’re going to be going forward I think
would you say that that is well that
kind of lead to my next question but any
goals that you have for this team this
spring yeah the biggest thing is we want
to look like a totally different team
once we get into May and you know close
to the state qualifying meet we want to
look a lot different than we do than we
did last night you know when we stepped
on the track and uh you know we’ve got a
lot of work to do as far as base work
yet and conditioning uh but we’ve got
 fantastic attitudes they’re good hard
workers uh um you know no complaints at
all with that so we’re really looking
forward to what this season can bring
well thanks for your time today coach
and best luck to you and the girls this

a Sprint right until you start doing it

only eighth grade so um did you have
some successes last year and and and
trying to get those to carry over this
year my 100s last year were pretty good
so I’m still trying to improve on those
um any goals that you have for yourself
specifically this spring PR onl 200 that
I ran in the 4X two trying to do trying
to get as fast as possible awesome well

Aaliyah um go ahead and tell us GR in
I’m a freshman and what you want um I
haven’t been able to run yet this season
because I spray my ankle but I run 400s
800s and okay um so when it comes down
who else can you beat your sister um we
 pretty
 I had to ask it
right um so did you have some success in
middle school yeah we came pretty close
to Breaking the shuttle H record I think
we’re like just one or two seconds off
awesome well gives you something to
gives you that motivation to shoot for
here at the high school level um and I
know you got dealing with the injury
right now but any goals that you maybe
have for yourself this spring or summer
um i’ said break a record if I if we
 could and
myself that’s awesome best of luck to
you this spring thank you that we will
 move
 to the girls assistant
 coach Flip It
Around you’re just fine you’re good good
start and Coach um help out with the the
cross country in the fall um and and got
got your hands with the tracks to which
 is awesome just to have
that what do you call consistency of the
same coaching but um seeing hope as
young girls what are some goals that you
have for the team in the spring we have
a lot of young girls and so um we’re
looking for a lot of growth um getting
those girls um good base so that they
can get out there and compete and do
really well um of course our Seasons
Runners we’re you know we’re looking
forward to having a lot of girls running
 state
and uh what a way to get off on the
right foot last night I know the the
weather situation it’s not probably you
don’t make those types of goals and then
all of a sudden it just happens so what
a a great step forward for the girls and
 and and the
confidence right for sure you know it’s
a good it was a good me to start with
not you know not a lot of teams um so we
can get out there and compete really
well with the teams that were there and
um it’s always fun to see that much
success from the first meet so that it
 builds their confidence
and then they can really um see what
they what they can do what they’re
capable of and that gives them a good
boost into the next meet the me and I
asked coach book out this earlier but
are there any goals that you have for
for this team um this spring or some
things that you hope to see them take
that next step forward um I work with
the hurdlers quite a bit and um we’ve
got a good group of hurdlers this year
that’s usually something that we have a
hard time getting a shuttle hurdle team
for example so really looking forward to
watching those girls improve and then um
you know of course as the Cross Country
Coach you know the distance running is
something that I really look forward to
watching see how they improve and um
just get stronger and stronger each time
they get out there and run so um you
know kind of kind of both ends going
Sprint in the long distance as well well
and it’s great to see this man goes out
the dep and you can just you can tell
talking to them and a good a lot of
underclassman seems like just a good
foundation being set there so best of
 luck to you guys this
spring all right thanks that’s coach
