J have disappointing to on Anzac Day to
concede 50 and come up with a a
performance like that yeah very
disappointing especially with the twoe
leading that we’ve had and the detail
and how we wanted to play and especially
defensively but you know we started off
loose you know 10- n down then we fought
our way back started getting some
resolve back in a d got some field
position scored some points and looked
back in the contest and then one kick
that goes dead
we don’t touch a ball for seven sets and
we go in at 30 to4 it’s
just a miror of erors in Terms
defensively that we haven’t that we’ve
practiced 100% we’ve practiced in around
our Rock in around our decisions on our
edges and we’re just not nailing them
when when the pressure’s
on were you confident like after the the
canala performance I know you didn’t win
but it was gutsy and then the two weeks
did you think there was going to be more
than that tonight like what gave you
that indication
yeah I the way we’ve trained you know
and I think there’s times in that game
where you can see that you know it’s not
it’s not just about effort you planning
against a worldclass team with
worldclass players and if you’re going
to give them Rock speed and play the at
the speed they want to play at they’re
going to they’re going to get you they
we’ve just lost audio there at the
postgame press conference with Jason
demitro and Cameron Murray will attempt
to try and get that back but some early
comments there from Jason he looks
clearly frustrated clearly unhappy uh
having conceded so many points tonight
uh the frustration really being around
not so much the effort but not actually
meeting the standard that the Melbourne
and he’s talking about like smarts
defensively thinking about what you what
you need to do what your job is and what
you need to do and he was pretty adamant
that they worked on it at training and
he made sure he got that out he said you
know the stuff we worked on at training
obviously they didn’t put into practice
when they got out there on the field so
he said it’s not all about you know
effort and I agree um although that’s
been lacking in South Sydney in the
opening month and a half but it’s also
about using your brain and when you’re
playing against a Melbourne stormm that
has Hugh monster Grant penous uh you
need to you need to play smart as well
and he’s talking about def well the
defensive decisions on the edges were
horrible shocking we’ve sorted the audio
so let’s get back to Amy Park and here
from Jason Demetrio and Cameron Murray
side half time again three weeks in a
row where we’ve let the game go so you
know play take some ownership of that it
take some ownership of their own
performances and start executing the
things that we know we can but as
coaches we’ll you know we set ourselves
a 5we plan to improve and we’ll stay to
that cuz it’s not going to improve in
one night one week it it will get better
there obviously be more talk about your
job like do you anticipate you’ll be
given that time like is there’s been no
conversations about anything else we got
no idea J you know that’s what I’ll turn
up to do um like I’ve said before you I
love coaching this club love coaching
this team I’ll turn up and keep giving
me best and if someone touch the
shoulder and says that’s time’s up then
it’ll that I can’t control that but it’s
salvageable 100% it’s salvageable again
like I said you see periods tonight
where the team looks like the team we’re
capable of we just got to be buying and
doing it for longer periods and it’s the
technical side in the contest where
we’re not controlling offloads we’re not
prepared to get dirty at times run to
tackles um you know stuff over the last
few years we’ve been good at um you know
we’ve just dropped that level a bit and
we’re focusing more on the outcome
rather than sticking in the moment and
earing each moment on its Merit if we
get back to doing that like we did at
periods in the second half then we’ll
we’ll get out of it
but um like I said to the players it’s
the Talk’s over we need to deliver we
need to get it done Jason um what did
you make at the start the two first
storm tries involved pretty unlucky sort
of kicks and bounces that what did you
think of that again that’s what I was
alluding to before you know if you’re
going to let the rock be quick and let
them generate second phase and offloads
Jer Hughes and moner are some of the
best unstructured footy players in the
game and and they were tonight they were
outstanding I don’t want to sit here and
just talk about how we were we weren’t
at our best we got to give credit to
storm as well they were they were
excellent tonight every chance they had
they took and every bounce of the ball
landed in their hands but that happens
when you’re playing on the front foot
and to give away you spoke pregame about
defense that’s the that’s the that’s the
fix you guys need to do you get give
away 54 points the most this season that
pretty disappointing yeah hugely
disappointing it’s certainly not what we
come here to do um but like I said it’s
there’ll be detail in that you know
every point we conceded there’ll be
things where individually we need to own
our our roles um but collectively as a
group as a staff as as a team um you
know we’ll be honest with our review and
we’ll go after it next week do you look
to make changes I guess a players on on
notice after this result well there’s
been some changes over the last couple
of weeks but yeah 100% we’ll be looking
at it um at the moment we got 21 fit
players available know we’re it’s not
like we’ve got a host of players that we
can bring in but know it’s Talis Duncan
and Key there in the on the fringes and
Isaac Thompson so again we’ll we’ll
review the tape we’ll see where if we
can make improvements then we will but
ultimately it’s not about changes it’s
about changes in each individual owning
their roles a key moments in the game
for 3 weeks in a row 30 minutes Mark
it’s a contest and then by the 45th
minute Mark the game’s been blown away
so we need to be better there one of
those changes was David fery brought him
in to take control of the defense um now
a few days ago you said it was great to
be able to bring him in and we had those
conversations in the offseason so it was
just a matter of saying okay now is the
time to get that voice in why was why
wasn’t he brought in at the start of the
season um you know it’s it’s one of
those things where you know we’ve got
the staff in and trusted the staff we
had but the end of the day we’re not
getting the Improvement we need so we we
look to make sure we’re giving the
players what they need you know and at
the end of the like I said you know is
that going to be the fix and that was a
question was asked in the press
conference and the answer is I’ll tell
you after the 80 minutes but Dave’s come
in and done a good job he’s done what
what was required to make sure that
we’re identifying the things we need to
be better at and we did and we’ve
trained at that but we didn’t put it on
the field and that’s that’s the
difference at the moment we got to put
what we’re doing at training on the
field T J what did you make of that
action at the end probably careless and
and unnecessary yeah probably ends a
dumb night on a dumb note
so you know it’s just you know I thought
he was trying to come in and got knocked
down a bit so I have to have a look at
and look at it closely but you know it’s
a frustrating way to end the game that
leave you outside depthwise outside
backs like obviously you’re already
missing a few guys if he gets suspended
like how do you shape up there out wide
now like I said we got Isaac Thompson
there who’s 9th man tonight so there’s
there’s options there thought Jacob
gagar did a great job for us tonight and
he second second game so um yeah we’ve
got options but whoever puts on a rabbit
our shirt we ready to go C do you have
anything to add like from the players
perspective do I suppose do you see
things the same way as your coach yeah
same
way thanks um three tries in in the
space of 9 Minutes against the top team
a positive in this game yeah it is it is
that’s as as I said you know it was a
challenge at half time to respond and
and we did that so there like I said
inside that game there’s some positives
but it’s hard to talk about them when
you consider 50 points thank you cheers

  1. But but but the boys tried so it’s all okay 🥺. Just sack the bloke, it’s cruel to keep him because we all know he’s a dead man

  2. Kidding himself. The only time the rabbits looked decent was when the storm took their foot off the pedal. Game was over after twenty minutes.

  3. At this point I’m open to put in some young and upcoming Talents Forwards and Backs and maybe have Burgess / Mitchell as bench rotations and just drop Milnes completely

  4. Who really believes that Billy Slater will take the job coaching the Bunnies? Get a grip ffs!

  5. When the lunatics are running the asylum what do you expect. He lost control and respect of the dressing room because he wouldn't control the so called stars. Storm did what they do best and laid all over them in the ruck and the Referee did nothing.

  6. Kudois to Demetriou for acknowledging the Storm’s great performance, unlike some others who want to bleat about the Referees. Cam Murray really didn’t have anything he COULD say, so we can’t fault his lack of chat.

  7. If you're having a bad day, cheer up, because there's always someone more unfortunate out there. Just think, you could be Jack Whighton.

  8. Souths need to look at recruitment policies. Bought no one of note for two seasons and let a lot of good players go.

  9. Feel sorry for jd . It’s those players who are weak. The protected species like latrell stay while the coach will go. Rabbits should be ashamed of themselves, on paper top 8 team. Bulldogs looking 10x better with a lesser team

  10. These are cringe with a coach under pressure. He’s too honest ol demitriou. He needs to give a Wayne style press conference and just utter one word answers

  11. Murray ain’t a captain, he barely talks on the footy and never talks in the presser, captains got get the team rallied but they all look like individuals out there

  12. Sam said it all before he left we all know what is going on its a basket case that club.

  13. All players should have a Lemon Myrtle Tea well at least your not like the Sharks on the Piss,Drugs,Zero License how dumb is that player good onya Trindall now crying deserves what he gets just a Tosser.

  14. Bringing in a defensive coach worked a treat 🙄😒
Having blokes barrelling into players legs with 15 seconds left on the clock says it all about where we're headed.
    What's next? Lose by 70
    Disgraceful… what a 🤡

  15. Bye JD! Says the same 💩 every week. We’re getting better 😳 loose by 50 is getting better. I’d hate to see worse. 🤷🏽‍♂️

  16. Stupid is as stupid does, keep the same going expecting different results. Sack JD now and get rid of Mitchell and Walker

  17. JD should have been this jaded months ago – actually around origin last year.
Get some fight into you JD!! Unleash on these players and demand results – the top coaches are wrecking balls when they lose

  18. Amongst the countless problems at Souths why on earth would you have Marcel Marceau as your captain. ?????Whiton would be a much better option.

  19. so JD acknowledges they practised their D for two weeks and were poor…. WTF ya gunna do about it??? say what you usually say…. I trust the players blah blah blah

  20. We get taught in under 6s not to let the ball bounce and we also get taught to stay on ya wing man on man ,milne back to nsw cup for me
