another video I’m Michigan Sports Talk
here and Michigan just got a commitment
from the 2024 four star guard Justin
Pippen the son of NBA Hall of Famer
Scotty Pippen we’re going to be going
over everything you guys need to know
about him plus Dusty May finishes up his
first coaching staff here at Michigan we
also got some huge updates on almost all
of the transfer portal targets for
Michigan where they currently stand and
who they are trending for right now as
well as what the scholarship situation
looks for Michigan right now it’s all
going to be in this video and more so
let’s go ahead and get right into
it all right so Michigan just landed a
commitment from the 2024 fourstar guard
Justin Pippen he just announced it today
as he was choosing between Michigan
Florida California Stanford and Texas
A&M and he is obviously the son of NBA
Hall of Famer Scotty Pippen so it is a
big name and a big first commitment for
Dusty may as the head coach here at
Michigan his first ever commit comes
from a top 100 player in the 2024 class
he is ranked 62nd nationally on 247
Sports rankings now he recently just did
take a visit to Michigan and that’s when
all the momentum started to go to
Michigan Michigan got a lot of
predictions going in their favor the
past uh few days here it was becoming
more and more clear that Michigan was
going to get a commitment from Justin
Pippen he is a six 3 180 lb guard plays
at Sierra Canyon in California now he
was a late riser in the 2024 class Onre
Jamie Shaw wrote in his scouting report
that Justin pipenet is an aggressive
guard has a good frame growing to the 63
64 range with long arms and a
projectable build comfortable on or off
the ball and aggressively touches the
paint in the half court and finishes
well at and Above the Rim did say that
he did grow a few inches over the last
year and was a focal point of his high
school’s offense for the first time this
season at Sierra Canyon also said the
jump shot is becoming a weapon as he
continues to learn his shot selection he
also said his game continues to improve
and he is on a clear upward tra uh
trajectory has an defensive upside which
is uh very nice to hear in guarding on
and off the ball with purpose so very
cool there Michigan lands the fourstar
guard Justin Pippen in the 2024 class a
big time name coming to Michigan now and
is Dusty May’s first recruiting
commitment here at Michigan now Michigan
in the 2024 class they do have uh one
other commitment out of the three star
guard derell Brooks who was from Grand
Rapids Michigan Michigan did lose the
guard uh Christian Anderson and Michigan
is also still going after uh the
fourstar power forward Connie ruths
who’s ranked 31st nationally and 247
Sports composite rankings he was
committed and then when Jan Howard got
left let go he uh decommitted but Dusty
May in Michigan has done a great job
getting back in his Recruitment and it
does appear that Michigan could
potentially uh pick him back up so
that’s how the 2024 class is looking
right now for Michigan but getting
Justin Pippen huge pickup for Dusty May
and Company so let me know what you guys
think about Justin Pippen the new
commitment now I did uh want to talk
about you know other things in this
video around the Michigan basketball
program we have been talking about the
program you know transfer portal targets
coaches all of that recently as we’ve
been getting you know a lot of news
surrounding the program with all the
changes going on but Dusty may he has
officially hired his new coaching staff
as he has hired former Oklahoma State
head coach Mike Bon former Georgia
assistant AE miskine former FAU
assistant Kyle church and former St
Mary’s assistant Justin Joiner will be
joining Dusty in an arbor along with
other FAU staffers Drew Williamson and
Brandon Gilbert so very cool there uh
they announced it officially uh April
18th yesterday the hiring of those new
six staffers as Dusty May has officially
locked in his first coaching staff here
at Michigan and it seems to be a good
one he’s got some good things going on
right now here now I did want to talk
about some transfer portal Target uh
news in the latest on them the first guy
I did want to talk about is the
Wisconsin guard transfer Connor aan as
we talked a lot about him before uh we
said that you know if Michigan wanted
him he was theirs however according to
Chris Ballas of the Wolverine said that
Conor rean won’t be at Michigan this
fall as I said Michigan has different
priorities at this point and Dusty May
informed him and is proceeding with the
understanding that he is uh very strong
with some other prospects at the
position see was set to visit Michigan
however it appears that Dusty May does
not want him and is going after and is
in a good position to land some other
guards that he probably likes more one
guard that we have talked about is Trey
Donaldson from Auburn right now Michigan
does have one crystal ball prediction
going in their favor to land him
Michigan is also going after the
sophomore uh Auburn guard Aiden Holloway
then obviously you know they’re also
going after FAU guard John now Davis
another guy who has emerged is Aiden
mahany from St Mary he is a 63 guard was
a junior and obviously Michin got new
assistant coach Justin Joiner as he was
a former St Mary’s coach there his past
season he averaged 13.9 points per game
uh 2.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game
and it appears right now that Michigan
is trending for him thanks in big part
to Justin Joiner joining Dusty May staff
so and obviously you know for centers
Michigan right now in a good position to
land Vlad golden from Florida Atlantic
and also the Gale Center uh Danny wolf
both seven-footers the only question
mark on Danny wolf is what he will do if
Vlad golden does indeed give his
commitment to Michigan will he still
come to Michigan because there is the
question of how he would fit in with
golden uh if both were you know to play
here but Michigan in a good spot for
both of them as well another guy uh is
Trey Townsen from Oakland the 66 forward
he did recently just take a visit to
Michigan he is a Michigan native and he
seemed to be impressed on the visit now
he is taking other visits to other
schools other schools like Michigan
State Tennessee Louisville Arizona and
UCLA have all been in contact as well
that would be a nice pickup for Michigan
uh if Dusty may you know can somehow
bring him in Michigan’s also set to host
Rody Gale the Ohio State guard transfer
on a visit today on April 19th right now
it appears that kraton and Michigan have
appeared to separate themselves from the
rest of the schools that have been
interested in him according to Davis
Mosley of 247 Sports and also the
Appalachian State transfer Justin abson
he’s a 6’9 forward played two seasons at
appal Appalachian State has two years of
Eligibility remaining he is set for a
Michigan visit as well he’s already
visited Georgia in Miami and is set to
go go to Xavier before heading to
Michigan and he averaged 7.9 points 7.1
rebounds and 1.4 assists per game last
season so that’s a little update on the
current Michigan transfer portal targets
now right now Michigan is looking for
eight players to Jan will cheddar uh
derell Brooks who is the 2024 commit and
also George Washington and Mari Bernett
now they’ll have seven open spots now
with the new addition of Justin Pippen
in the 2024 class and could potentially
have six open spots depending on what
Connie ruths does that’s how the
scholarship situation looks right now
but hopefully Dusty may can start to get
some commitments in the transfer portal
I think that would you know be some good
momentum and potentially influence
others to commit here to Michigan but
right now Dusty may he is doing a very
good job and he is out there putting in
the work trying you know to bring
together a good Michigan roster and he
wants to go and win now which is exactly
what he’s trying to do here as he is uh
diving into the transfer portal and in
contact with several players just trying
to find the best ones and the best ones
that fit here at Michigan but with that
