from earlier in round two this is Chan
Kim at the ninth eight wins on the Japan
golf tour a 34-year-old PGA Tour rookie
and he bounces it in for the ace that
front nine Tony phenow is the defending
Champion he started at 10 here’s his
third at eight from off the green and it
is magical eight under on the day at
that point he would par nine his final
hole the day now what do we have here we
got Craig Statler without the towels on
his knees remember that here’s padrick G
and you think he works on this shot he
does he practices hitting it off his
knees you see it all the time on social
media yeah he does got no problem your
references the 13th hole of Tory Pines
and Craig Styler had the tow under
his that was in a far off area from
where Tony feno had hit his Drive 16
look how many guys would get in there
and have some little pause you know
might hit over it might get caught up in
the limbs not this guy and the key to
the shot because I’ve hit a fair few
Fair number these you almost got to feel
like you come over the top of it you
know and I’ve seen him do it uh you know
he’ll hit drivers like this 280 yards he
works as hard as anybody but does
anybody enjoy the game more than him
loves for it here’s Billy h a moment ago
and that one goes
down there you go
[Applause]
Billy we get the putter he going to
pitch it in seen a lot of hole outs
today too yeah from off the green these
fringes are in such perfect position we
talked about options and choices players
have ball back in the stance kind of
like a sewo Kim
shot other than I would say left at six
the two toughest pitches today are right
at 13 and right at 15 Sheffer a little
bit earlier at the eighth his third at
the par five I’m Steve Sans please be
alongside brand shamble once again and
Brad Faxton and guys number one player
in the world is on the move again 164
yards out going back into the win
front hole location trying to keep it
down just a little bit back into the
breeze this is a brand new Green from
the last time they played here so it’s
very firm right
now you see his follow through catch
into the lip of the bunker there that’s
his first bunker shot so far this week
much more wind out there
today good comeback putt he saves his
par stays at 6 under three back back
over at the third the par five this is
Joe heith and he has this from just off
the green for
Eagle easiest hole on the golf course
and Joe’s going to walk away with a four
so he’s playing some good
golf tap in left for his
birdie AE batia he’s on the par
three9 loads of talent in this body of
his right
here gorgeous golf swing lots of power
as well yeah just getting started in his
career still early on but uh so much
potential this is just an absolutely
brutal whole
location well we talked about do and
what he created out here this is one of
the busiest screens isn’t it brand I
forgot to tell him I tell you we’ve seen
it all here
leading the field and strokes gting
around the green so he had had too many
five Footers for
Park he made a nice one at
17 well these first four holes out of
the gate here the first the third the
fourth hardest on one two and
four AA batia has this for birdie all
pars on the front
nine oh good read good putt
AE that’s his first birdie of the day
well done there at the 10th hole
AE just a 23y old firste player out of
Pepperdine where he went 3 and0 on the
NCAA to help his team win in
2021 well now look who the closest man
is to Tony Fen seven under par I just
two back what we we saw two hole outs at
fifth
yesterday good chance here that front
hole location he’s got the right number
knock it in there close beautiful shot
over here at the 12 hole it’s going to
be tough but I think he’s going back to
the window which she going to help a
little
bit oh how about it oh come on Nick done
La how about that Nick Dunlap making
birdie at the 12th
hole and Billy I tell you what this is
been a great I always am in awe when we
play in Wind when I play
will yeah this looks pretty familiar
yeah that’s perfect so if that comes
back oh so he hit it above the ridge
there this is Steven jger from Germany
but went to high school in Chattanooga
the same high school as Keith Mitchell
Harris English as that one goes in and
Luke list four PJ door players he’s
always fully focused on what he’s doing
when he’s hitting that whatever shot
he’s hitting right now left himself
quite a bit of work here the good news
is is he saw two putts on relatively the
same line so he should have a good idea
like fa said it’s probably straighter
than it
looks oh the pter bails him out he makes
his par remains under par on the day a
ton of talent risky shot
here yeah well his feet out of the r 234
oh come on oh got to bounce forward and
look at this this res what a shot out of
the ROP he settled a little left to
right so he’s trying to flight some down
starting at the left edge of the green
cutting towards the flag looks like he
thinks it’s long Bo one of the best of
the day from the number one player in
the world to hear over the
water took a huge risk and he was
rewarded with an eagle three Well Done
by o
batia yep well done there firmly struck
too green hitting regulation it’s a
pretty standard bunker shot for anyone
he’s looking at a hole in
this look at
it look at hor
got so Scotty unable to get it done and
then he loses his concentration on that
one so
Sheffer about that down the Fairway had
designs on eight under but instead walks
away that ends it streak that is the
streak is over 28 consecutive rounds now
under
par what a what a bizarre Back N i’ say
there’s nothing to this but we just saw
the number one player in the world
missing from half this
distance
okay just got one top 10 in his career
thus far just getting started just
played Seven events this year so big
step in stone for him coming up this
weekend let’s go through some scores
gentlemen Tony Fina that’s 62 and nine
under par has held up thus far Joe and
Alejandro have a chance to catch him or
surpass him but right now nine under is
still setting the pace you know look
it’s been a terrific year 2024 I think
surprising from the aspect that so many
players ranked outside the top 100 we 13
events we’ve played so far on PGA Tour
six of those have been won by players
outside the top 100 all this talk about
the best players in the world these guys
are saying Hey listen I know the stories
on you guys but don’t forget about
us
