https://www.youtube.com/golfchannel?sub_confirmation=1

golf Central on YouTube is brought to
you by the new Chrome tour golf ball
from
Callaway greetings and welcome Steve
Bowski alongside Jim Gallagher Jr for
this golf Central update the Florida
swing winding down on the PGA tour and
we had plenty of fireworks on day number
three from the valbar championship let’s
get right to the highlights Chandler
Phillips in the mix playing in this
tournament for the very first time his
second at the par 4 six yeah coming off
the bogey at the par five F and he’s to
see how will he rebound well he’ll do
just fine just short of the hole make
that for birie that would move him to
seven under one off the lead at that
point how about Peter malady short
second shot here at the par 4 seventh
yeah just a sandwich kind of holds that
face Square coming through abbreviated
oh hits the flag stick and actually
still had some spin on it good break for
malady makes birdie moves to eight under
tied for the lead let’s go back to
Chandler Phillips his turn at the
seventh well if you like that shot or he
liked that shot on the last hole he’s
going to love this one right here and
how about that can get right at it with
a sand wedge beautiful shots to two feet
kick in birdie he would move to eight
under par how about McKenzie use we’ll
pick him up at the par 410th he’s got
this for birdie to join the mix at eight
under yeah Strokes gain putting he’s
number one for the week and he gets that
club in his hand you better watch out
Sheamus power makinging a bit of a move
on this Saturday we’ll pick him up at
the par 5 11th great touch here
yeah decent lot here look how high he L
that club face was wide open high to the
sky beautiful shot right there up and
down for birdie for power moves to seven
under one off the lead Keith Mitchell
started cruising on the back nine as we
watch this third at 12 yeah a lot of
people would putt this not Keith he
knocks it in there and the momentum is
going now in his Direction finally five
under three back as we go to the 14th
the par five Mitchell just short of the
green and
two yeah just going to go up and the air
with this one some guys would go a
little bit lower kept it right below the
hole to about 3 ft Nice Shot makes the
birdie moves to six under two back of
the leaders McKenzie used at 14 similar
spot but this is
fourth yeah you can be aggressive with
this the greens are holding going uphill
into that up slope beautiful shot just
short of the whole foot saves bar stays
at eight under Mitchell for birdie at
16 16 played down WI a little bit easier
than all during the week he makes that
right the left or nice putt seven under
one off the lead Sheamus power along
birdie putt here at
15 yeah he wants to get in the movie
here he wants to be a big part of it and
that putt will help tied at the top at
eight under after that birdie goes
Mitchell showing the work around the
greens but how about this t-shot at the
power 3
17th yeah he talked about how he’s kind
of working taking a little bit off this
six s this 177 yards most time maybe try
to hit the hard seven but no he hits it
near two feet for birdie eight under
tied at the top with a host of others
McKenzie us he’s looking for the
outright lead Jim a 41f footer to go
nine under here at
16 well we knew we had a bunched up
leaderboard we’re going to keep it
bunched up a lot of guys trying to get
the lead he makes that pup from outside
40 ft as you said nice putt there we
wondered could anyone get to double
digits by the end of the day we didn’t
think it would happen until we saw Keith
Mitchell hit a second at the
last yeah this is a seven IR just about
159 playing a little bit longer than
that uphill one bounce and whoop see you
four under on the snake pit 29 on the
back nine for Keith Mitchell he finishes
at 10 under one hop stops drops way to
go Keith Mitchell McKenzie used a bit of
trouble off the te at
18 yeah went with driver here got
fortunate that can even have a swing
dust back in his eyes and this goes way
over to the left fortunately got a
decent break off there
he would make yeah big mistake in
trouble there finishes at 8 under two
back of Mitchell malady Peter that is
for birdie at 18 trying to join the mix
at 8 under oh you bet you he does MHM
nice but that ball was moving shaping up
to
be pretty impressive looking leaderboard
heading into the final round of the
valbar championship a host of others in
the mix they’re all trying to catch
Keith Mitchell who’s leading the way a
10 under a two- shot lead and is hoping
to get back in the winner circle come
tomorrow the last three holes really
here are you know it’s called snake pit
for a reason um the wind today was more
favorable on 16 um so it was down on 16
soit fivewood and I had a nice nine iron
in there actually a little past the flag
and it was the first really good putt
I’ve made all day um really substantial
length and um I I finally read one right
and hit it and knew when it was about 3
fet out it was in the hole so
I kind of gave myself a little fist pump
there try to get some some energy going
some momentum going um we were really in
between clubs on 17 between six and
seven and I H ended up hitting six just
to try to take as much wind out of the
shot as possible so it had to take
almost 20 yards off that club um to get
it to where it ended up that was one of
the best shots I’ve hit all day and just
kind of a tap in Putt and then 18 hit a
good drive and kind of same thing on
that seven iron um I had I think I had
59 hole and I hit my seven iron close to
190 so you know it was 25 plus yards off
that club and um I just got to see the
replay and it’s pretty cool how it
hopped in when when you hit the shot it
looked like you looked down got
something in your eye is was that the
case yeah I I actually did when I looked
up something kind of flew in my eye so
um I kind of looked away um and never
saw it come down and land but I knew it
was I mean I was pleas when I hit it I
was pleased with the contact and it’s an
elevated green I wasn’t going to be able
to see it go in the hole anyway but I
never even saw it come down next to the
flag John was talking about you’ve kind
of worked on some of those off speed
shots with the irons I have um a lot
lately um I felt like I used to work on
my um just stock swing way too much and
I wasn’t really practicing the shots I
might have on the golf course as much on
the Range so felt like really starting
in Palm Springs I started working on um
my distance control um on the driving
range instead of just my golf swing and
um it’s really paid off I’ve hit a lot
of I’ve been able to hit those shots a
lot more comfortably when I’m taking
that much yardage off of them knowing
that I can actually execute my number
Jim when you hear a player say that that
they’re working on shots not necessarily
going with the stock number how do you
react to that considering just how good
of a ball Striker Keith Mitchell is I
love to hear that because uh most of the
time when you look at guys that come out
of college the younger players
everything is full swing and they don’t
learn to take it off and I think when
you get in windy conditions that’s what
you really have to do you got to trust
that you got to have that a little bit
of an imagination and he’s done that but
his ball striking Strokes gained
approach for the week he’s gained a
stroke and a half over the field Strokes
gain TD green the same as as well but 24
putts today uh and the ball striking is
phenomenal I felt like earlier in the
week that he was going to be a guy that
we felt like would play really well here
on this golf course and you don’t
necessarily have to be long I mean he’s
got plenty of distance and fairly
straight off the te and I think that’s
why you look at that leaderboard you see
such a different uh types of games
there’s not this golf course doesn’t
really fit anybody in particular but
when you look at it burko Mitchell has a
hasn’t won in what five years Sheamus
pow within a year Mackenzie U’s within a
year malady’s been nine years since he’s
won Cameron young hadn’t won Brendan
Todd’s been four Phillips has not won
yet Champ’s been four years hadwin’s
been seven years here so uh that’s a
leaderboard there’s a lot of guys 12
guys within four shots it’s been a while
for a lot of these guys since they’ve
won the pressure of Sunday we’ll find
out who can handle it what’s the more
difficult proposition trying to win for
the first time or trying to win after a
long drought oh man that’s a tough
question to answer I I would have to say
probably winning for the first time
because you haven’t done it you don’t
you’ve had those experiences when you
have one you know what that feeling
feels like you know what the pressure is
going to be and I I think steuart sink
and the walking talk did a great job
talking about yeah I can rely on that
experience I can learn on what did I
learn from those experience what did I
gain but each time you win it’s a
different feeling how do you hand that
handle that feeling if you haven’t won
you don’t know how you’re going to
handle it I think that’s the uncertain
and that’s the question these guys will
ask themselves that haven’t won I don’t
know what it feels like I think as you
go back did I win in college did I win a
corn fery tour maybe they bounce back to
that to see what those feelings are like
but there’s nothing like winning for
sure especially on the PJ tour shaping
up to be a great final round at the
valpar championship a very congested
leaderboard but the man at the top
signing some autographs for the fans
after his round Keith Mitchell will
start the final day with the two-shot
lead in Palm Harbor
Florida
