Saturday at the valsport championship
and the weather is ideal the last of the
rain fell this morning the forecast
terrific the rest of the way and the
third round promises to be exciting with
lots of storylines to follow including a
log Jam a top the leaderboard eight men
at this point were at six under par when
Brendan Todd was hitting his third at
the first it’s a par five poses it up
there and Brendon Todd would make a
birdie at the first to get to Seven
under par which would break that
eight-way tie a top the leaderboard look
at those scores great day after some
rain yesterday this first hole playing a
little different back into their face
today that wind is so tougher to get
home in
two that is some shot by stman right out
of the gate easiest hole in the golf
course the first couple days but today
much more challenging stelman makes a
four at the first and he joins Brendan
Todd at seven under we go to Six
and Ben
Griffin he’s made a nice start already
he’s two under through five and a chance
here at
six Taylor Moore at the par five
14th little bit of a struggle here so
far
but game bailed him
out look out for Taylor Moore never know
what’s going to take place at the par
three fourth this is Kevin
Roy sponsor exemption this week making
the most of
that what a
shot those greens really are receptive
Justin Thomas trying to avoid backto
back Bogies here’s the bunker shot short
sided got to be a good bunker shot and
it
is just slight on the up slope which
really HS helps when you’re shortsighted
terrific touch Peter Mady he has a CH
we’re going to say this a lot today he
has a chance to tie for the lead and a
great one it is right up the hill yep
right in the middle boy that is back to
back really solid birdies at two and
three bran Todd has company the top the
board and malady as he usually does just
walking around with a smile on his face
this was a moment ago Justin Thomas all
the way on the left side of the T at
four typically means he’s going to try
to play his draw in there that whole
location in
front he needs to make a burri really a
poor t- shot with an iron this is might
be one of the easier Fairways to hit
today downwind with an iron in your hand
168 coming out of a thick
lie sound like he caught it pretty good
he did this looks really good if it’s
the distance oh what a shot look at that
that’s the best shot we’ve seen steart
sink From the Rough Scott Stallings
blind second shot to this par
five should be some help so we should
see some players get home in two here
today like that wow shot
yeah back to Stewart Zink this short one
to tie for the
lead
and he makes it gets to seven under par
does Steward sink look at this thing of
beauty didn’t get a chance to say it but
at the Players last week he finished TI
for 54 he’ like to pay it off at some
point just calm the nerves a little
bit pretty
able does not look like he’s out of
place out there we said five guys are
sitting there at seven under par Peter
Mon’s looking to bust out get to
eight well after seeing McKenzie Hughes
he knows exactly what this put’s going
to
do and there’s the new leader Peter
Mady has reached eight under par Sheamus
power trying to get to six under here at
six
yep first birdie of the day for shanus
Keith Mitchell from the left rough at
the
seventh he’s going the wrong way need
something to happen fast able to go
upstairs though that limb wasn’t in the
way and gauged it just right maybe
that’s the start of something special
for
[Music]
Keith
pretty good line really good line and a
good
shot good looking shot
here right over the top of it not too
bad perect Drive 92
yds just a l
wedge oh hit the stick and sits right
there 2024 than anybody the only one
he’s missed is the Mexico open at vant
this is his 11 start of the season
[Applause]
[Music]
and just in front of the green out of
that first cut going to get a little bit
of run out on this and run on
in that’s how you get to five under and
get within
three to Ty Phillips this one just going
to go a little to his left and right
down in the
center Kenzie Hughes says he’s been on
the edge of some really good
play made some confidence Strokes thus
far and there’s another one tried out as
many as 10 Putters at the start of the
week but he just drills that home for
his fourth birdie in the first 10
holes
straight across the green here not much
by the hole looks good looks really
good Sheamus power joins
thep this from the flattest section of
the Fairway nice slide Dealers Choice
here as far as shot selection and he
picked a good
one stman coming off bogey at 13 chance
to get one back there there remind
himself to hit
it
oh yeah Str drops in his fourth birdie
of the day is first since the front nine
and he is right there at seven under
packed leaderboard we’ve got 15 or so
players within two shots of the lead
right now not the very edge of the green
going to work to his
right wow buries it to jump out of of
the pack at nine under she’ll trying to
bring it home here can he add one more
to his back nine birdie total let’s
going in attack mode here from the
Fairway he’s eyeing this thing well
something in it went in his eye from 15
y Mitch does better than a
birdie he didn’t even see
it look at that finish
29 coming
[Music]
home everybody’s been coming up a little
short here yeah I can’t blame him not
you want no part Along on this
flag add into the list of stories
tomorrow Todd for
birdie this has had a little bit of
uphill and imp going to work to his
right keep the pace up
had that right online just ran out of
juice pretty steady round he avoided The
Big Numbers just one bogey for Todd all
pars and a couple of birdies well Dan
and these guys have to remember leod
just going out shooting 66 made the cut
on the number best round of the day
moved up over 40 spots on the
leaderboard so you know anybody within
four or five shots headed into tomorrow
can come out with a big round and just
know that they have a chance you You’
got these the two outliers with 66s
today Lee Hodes and Keith Mitchell hard
enough I think Nota to skip it up that
really steep shelf in front of them yeah
these aprons are so tight so pure get a
lot of spin on
it just hit it a couple yards too far
missed his spot
now going to have to earn it with the
putter boy what a struggle home for
stran and
sink just goes sideways sometimes Dan
and no matter how hard you try every
trick that you’ve learned over the years
to try and write the ship it just
sometimes doesn’t come back on
course and a sink TAPS in there for
[Applause]
[Music]
par look like gave it enough out there
outside it still wasn’t
enough look at these top five guys in
the leaderboard and Philips will stay
there if he makes it they’ve all won on
the PJ
tour
oh we tried to keep the speed up and
just hammered it right through the
break but I give him credit for going
for it you know he was trying to knock
that put down
yep to not coming back the bogey and
he’s going to collect himself a little
bit here and he should maybe got a
little bit
too aggressive with the pitch shot
coming straight up the hill but uh you
know all is not lost if he’s able to get
this in the
hole ooh that just got in
there so a deep breath for Chandler
Phillips ends with a B
seven under so he’ll take his
chances in his early PGA Tour career
three off of Keith Mitchell’s 54 hole
lead exclamation point spectacular
fashion with a hole out Eagle at the
last look at these top five guys in the
leaderboard and Philips will stay there
if he makes it they’ve all won on the PJ
tour
oh tried to keep the speed up and just
hammered it right through the
break but I give him credit for going
for it you know he was trying to knock
that put down
yep so now coming back for bogy and he’s
going to collect himself a little bit
here and he should maybe got a little
bit
too aggressive with the pitch shot
coming straight up the hill but uh you
know all is not lost if he’s able to get
this in the
hole
oo that just got in
there so a deep breath for Chandler

so he’ll take his

last

looks like the Corn Ferry tour
@golfchannel those black frame transitions are terrible!
JT looked really good today, great form.
Cink collapsing after getting into the lead. You hate to see it.
Man what a last few tournaments just crazy battles on the leader boards
I know that Notah Begay is learning and trying his best to win the analyst spot on NBC. His voice and lack of inflection/excitement just leaves me turning the TV off. He's a wonderful guy who helps junior golfers and has my respect – just put him back on walking the course and bring Kizzy (Kevin Kisner) back as the full time analyst. He knows all the guys and has recently played these courses. His knowledge and insight is what I want. Or, better yet (!), bring Roger Maltbe and Gary Koch back! Can't say how awesome it was to hear those two at the Players! Age is only a number – why NBC didn't keep them is still mind-blowing to me.
Wow what a round .😮
Golf is a dumb game. Really! All this nice land going to waste. Trying to put a small white ball in a hole. Chi Chi showed that it wasn't that hard of a game. You know human energies could be directed to other things. Like making this planet a decent place for everyone to live. Why can't we do this? After we do this we might have time to play stupid games like golf. Yeah it takes a high IQ to play golf.
