previously on 40 days me and Deon we had
a long history Ryan is my biggest rival
in the amateurs de the dream the best
fighter in the world let’s do something
fun man they kick off their press tour I
know you going to bring some Antics to
this one I heard he’s bringing a horse
or something like that Ryan he’s focused
on boxing and entertainment April 20th
is going to be the death of Ryan
Garcia they think I’m playing around I’m
not he can find out in the
rain it was frogs in there
really God damn I was hearing them yeah
when it got swampy and yeah bro how long
until it’ll it’ll be back blue uh it
probably take about a day or so to F
just is time for summer you know y
yep thank you brother yes sir you
too so today we’re making a little
smoked salmon toast with a smashed
avocado we have weekly goals that we
like to see and we’ve been reaching
those weekly
goals uh perfectly so everything’s great
business as
usualy eggs yes sir thank you very
welcome today is Monday I’m coming off
of a rest day got two workouts today
actually but um it’s fun to me because
um this is what I love to do so it’s not
you know I don’t dread it I look forward
to
it it’s not really unbelievable how far
I came in in this short amount of time
because I knew that I worked hard I stay
disciplined I stayed down that I that I
will be here one day I’m going back to
sleep upstairs is off
limits the real Devon Haney began boxing
not long after birth but Sports weren’t
the primary drive at first no Deon
needed discipline and guidance he got
both vehic a little push from his old
man wanted to teach his son a lesson and
ended up getting schooled I was like
7even 8 years old around there I was
fighting a lot in school having a lot of
problems in school I always love to
fight and my dad took me to the gym one
day cuz he said you know what you going
to fight at school I’m I’m going to take
you to the gym you’re going to get beat
up and every time you keep fighting
school I’m going keep taking you to the
gym keep taking you to the gym Deon went
in there and put a whooping on a kid and
uh one of the trainers yelled out you
know your kid is a natural
from there on you know I’ve I’ve had his
back his front and his side uh through
this through this journey it was a way
for me to channel my anger My Love For
Fighting I was getting rewarded for for
doing good in the gym and U it was
something that I that I
loved we sat down and we talked about it
and I said you know Dev you know you
know what do you want to do with this
sport how how far do you want to take it
and he said Dad I want to go all the way
I want to be mentioned with the greats
when I was a teenager they changed the
age on Olympics from 17 to like 19 or
something like that so we tried to go
get a boxing license in California they
said that I was too young he said wait
until you turn 18 so my dad said you
know what we going to go to Mexico and I
was like all right yeah I’m waiting
let’s let’s let’s go so he was 16 and um
we took a nontraditional route and uh go
down to Tijana and turn

pro there had never been an
African-American kid that was a standout
amateur to go and take that route I mean
I was fighting in bars my dress Aral
janitor type closets everybody was
booing me you know they didn’t know who
I was obviously but they knew I was
American we started wearing it as like a
badge of honor I mean they came out
professionally booing the whole place
was against me but uh it made me the
fighter that I am today and that’s why
I’m the type of fighter I would fight
anyway and for us to get the kind of
work we needed at that time to velop the
best fighter in the world Tiana helped
us do it you know I dedicated myself day
in and day out to get to this point so
you know it’s no accident why I’m

here Deon moved through amateur boxing
like a cowboy riding a horse and
developed 13 and8 amateur
record
if you were not here to spar Deon Haney
personally make your way to the front
because there will not be any Spectators
inside the gym please do so quickly is
that too intense yo it’s been feeling
good though Ryan could fight in amateurs
he was a good fighter and you know he
was like probably I would say my biggest
rival in the amateurs nobody beat me
three times Ryan did since we turned Pro
we’ve been on a Collegian course it was
only a matter of
time and uh now the time has finally
came I can do this with my eyes cled
he got Fame outside of boxing props to
him I got Fame in boxing and I got the
the accomplishments in the sport of
boxing because that’s what I dedicated
myself to you can rise to fame as a tick
tocker but all roads and the
135lb 140lb division go through Devon
Haney we all fighting for something and
April 20th we going to see who wants it
more Antics is about over with they want
to see they want to see Antics they want
to see we beat the out of him they
seen him playing they see the ANS now
they want to see what I’m going to do to
him de Haney can do something to Ryan
Garcia that has never been done and
that’s make him wish that he hadn’t put
on a pair of gloves that

just in public culture and just who I am
like people really know who I am now
being famous and being fully understood
are not the same thing not within The
Crucible Garcia knows so well a lot of
people have a misconception that I don’t
train hard and that I’m you know not
disciplined and think that people want
to see me as that they want to find
something wrong with me I know how to
lock in I know how to stay focused I
know how to hit the switch it’s time to
go it’s time to go where’s the modern
boxing known the world over Rara still
is the modern athlete with the big viral
energy but the rarest a boxer with over
10 million Instagram followers and the
King knows exactly when it all started
who’s this Jim and I remember the
photographers he decided to record me
hitting the
back
I just did a normal video he posted it
on his Facebook never thought anything
of it I wake up and everybody’s talking
about me you’re with Ryan Garcia he is
an upcoming Prospect and then I blew up
like crazy and everybody’s posted me and
from there anything I posted was huge
it’s a lot of pressure kind of and it’s
kind of over overwhelming at times why
are you not listening to listen to other
people yeah you can’t do what he say
there was so much pressure on him but
he’s never wanted to stop if you have a
son like that and you see that he’s
winning more than he’s
losing and that’s got to tell you that
he really wants it the first fight I had
on TV after I blew up on the internet I
knocked out the guy in 30 seconds on
ESPN so then it just went
nuts that’s when a manager give me a
$50,000 check and I spend it in a week I
didn’t care even though we was broke I I
just was like yeah I’ll pay for some
rent but I need to buy some CU I always
believed I was going to be big like I
always believed it I never had a sense
that I wasn’t going to make it anchored
by an intense self-belief and skills
that left off screens Garcia was on to
something Garcia able to land that right
now we got he go King KO his way to
Superstar take down on his back it’s
over looking good on that three-step
plan he C
down on knee two knees King r one fight
he caugh with a left hook again two win
his legs and betray him this kid is a
superstar three go viral in order to
secure big bouts and bigger bags
Garcia turns out victories belts and
international Acclaim weren’t as ideal
as they appeared Garcia soon landed in a
deeper fight I’ve been having mental
health issues since I was 17 years old
at first it was extreme anxiety OCD when
I was becoming a breakthrough
star every post I posted was a million
likes million likes like I was becoming
a bonafied

star cuz the doubts always always going
to be there but I beat down doubt I just
shove it to the ground just like when
people say I’m not going to be a great
boxer when I was coming up I beat that
doubt down every time I try to come up
and say it’s almost impossible to make
it there I beat that doubt down cuz I
let go of the fear of
it but then God it rebuilds me and I get
stronger
time rather than break from boxing he
took the same approach in brings and out
of them fight through anything even in
his first defeat against javante tank
Davis mentality was boxing is in a
terrible place right now and this is my
moment to just do something about it so
I took everything they put on me got
beaten down got a separated ribbon
training had everybody tell me I’m
crying my eyes out cuz I can’t lose the
weight get to the fight I’m weak as I
know I’m going to lose I don’t give a
this is my chance and then
boom obviously I lost but I felt peace
if everybody thought it would be sad I
felt peace cuz I felt like I did
something for God and then after that I
felt real spiritual strength and I felt
strong and I felt nobody could touch
me nobody’s ever going to do that to me
in negotiations ever again nobody’s
going to ever play me ever again and now
I’m coming different here we go come on
yeah when going gets tough in the ring
I’ve been through it like when me and
Devon get in the ring and if it really
does go down we’re both cut I’m coming
out there on top there we go good good
this the chance for me to try to
establish myself as the king of boxing
and I’m going to sacrifice everything I
have in that ring this means more to me
than anything I’ve done in my career so
far

this is the holy month of Ramadan
special for all Muslims during Ramadan I
do my best to pray five times a day
every single
day we’re supposed to be facing towards
the cabba where all Muslims around the
world are praying the same

direction when I’m praying you know my
heart is you know with Allah everything
is is is with Allah
whenever I feel like I’m going through
something that’s who I go speak to I’m
having a bad day or bad month whatever
the case may be that’s where I go cry I
go cry on the prayer M that’s when I go
talk to him he’s somebody that’s ready
to talk to me 24 hours a day 365 and
he’s somebody that I can connect with
you know Allah knows my heart he knows
my intentions he knows that I want to
fast but this is this also you know my
job is helping my family this what I do
and Allah he planned this fight for me
at this time so it will all make sense

I think that that’s the reason why I’m
able to handle the fame handle the
lights handle the money handle
everything because of Allah he keeps me
humble he keeps me grounded and it keeps
me at
[Music]
peace I never get too high on my highs
and never get too low on my lows I
always just try to stay
grounded
forget for a moment the Rivalry the
familiarity the animosity or Devin Haney
and Ryan Garcia share a deep and deeply
personal history they’ve taken opposite
paths to April 20th I dedicated myself
day in and day out to get to this point
I could really box but I could really do
everything else too
even then in order to reach this
rivalrous Pinnacle required much more
than mere skill it required Faith from
all possible angles faith that deres
from the soul I’m here for a reason only
God knows but I’m
here this Faith supersedes any lingering
doubt for two men who knew they wouldn’t
land anywhere except right here opposite
each other once more with so much to
gain and just as much to lose it’s
called belief and faith I knew that I’m
going to be at the
top I am the chosen one I’m in
competition with greatness this means
more to me than anything I’ve done in my
career so far so my mentality in this
ring is do or
die on episode 3 of 40 days crazy things
happen to crazy people people I don’t
know if Ryan’s going to pull out or not
I know what I’m doing all my moves are
