welcome to in the now brought to you by
the racing post and Carl we’re back
again I hope you enjoyed anry last week
well there’s more of the same to come
with the Scottish version of the Grand
National of course coming up at air
tomorrow if you were looking at the the
results at air today uh it takes some
takes some finding some of those winners
unless of course you’re just following
at Dan Skelton off a cliff which
wouldn’t be the worst angle in the world
but we’ve got 10 races to go through
from tomorrow we’ve got six at air and
we’ll look at four at newbry as well a
couple of classic trials over at Newbury
one for the the Phillies and one for the
Colts of course as well or be it the
favorite for the Colts version is a
gelding and of course the odds on shop
for the 2,000 ginies only got shorter
after the exploits at New Market this
week but my name is Ross bryley join us
for the next hour or so let us know what
you fancy on the chat box and let’s get
stuck right here and don’t forget like
And subscribe of course uh to that
YouTube stream if you haven’t done so
already so uh will we see another
incredibly impressive National winner
will we see anything that shakes up at
the classic markets will we see anyone
else in the studio well the answer to
that is definitely no uh as I’ve just
popped around the corner uh from from
leads uh uh to to come all the way down
to London to find that everyone else has
slded off up to Scotland hello Paul
Keeley how are you you all right
I’m yes I’m currently at Scottish
national tomorrow play golf at T today
lovely lovely stuff uh how’s how’s the
weather up in up in air uh well it was
lovely today it’s been very windy very
dry so imagine it’ll dry out a fair bit
for tomorrow it looked fairly testing at
times today though didn’t it it did
indeed it did indeed have you um
reinvested or pocketed your National
winnings from last week you you little
Scamp well I’ve reinvested a few quid um
in the early week and um none of it come
back or not much anyway so uh uh
especially not the last couple of days
so um yeah but I haven’t gone mad okay
lovely stuff right then uh we’ll we’ll
get Paul’s thoughts as the evening goes
on Tom seagull is certainly not up in
Scotland golfing unless of course he
doesn’t actually live in a house and uh
lives in a a single study on Wheels and
drives around the country I don’t know
who knows anything could happen Tom
yeah yeah I’m at home Ross still at home
can’t get me out of here no chance yeah
no not even not even for for a 10 Race
preview uh tonight six from Air four
from Newbury uh how’s your your brain
feeling I feel there’s there’s very much
a a line drawn between anry and the and
the horses and the races that we’re
dealing with air newb New Market there’s
been some there’s been some uh well big
prices and they’re not easy necessarily
to get stuck into but it does mean you
might find a nice or two yeah I quite
like the start I mean I sort of moved
into flat mode I was more interested in
Newber tomorrow than a I shouldn’t say
that with Simon listening but I I sort
of New Market meeting at the in the week
uh sort of got my got me going a bit had
a few quid on harm which was very nice
and so you know sort of I’m sort of up
and running in flat mode at the moment
so yeah I really I really love this time
of the year I mean obviously tomorrow is
brilliant with UB and air uh loads of
something for everyone isn’t there as
always say bit of a cliche but it’s true
there is full of Hope and expectation at
this time of year uh Simon CLA is up in
air of course for the coral Scottish
Grand National and uh yeah we’re we’re
crowning uh the the champions of the
jumps and we’re we’re getting excited
about the future champions of the
flat yeah it’s a brilliant time of year
really I mean up I’m up at the Western
House hotel right next to where race
course um the sun is shining blue sky
lovely day today and um you know it’s
always a great meeting after a’t Tre lot
lot of the big trainers and owners come
up almost for a more relaxing Festival
after the you know the testing times at
Shel atry but the fact that you’ve got
this uh jump trainers title race on the
um you know red hot really at the moment
with Willie Mullins turning up with 18
horses tomorrow and Dan skel having a
treble today to claw back the lead I’m
just very hard to keep really up to date
on the prize I think Dan seemed to think
Dan came won our race a corresponsive
race uh earlier with pun put dest or
whatever it’s called The Outsider and
was then running over to me checking my
race car try and work out on his
calculator what that meant in prize
money terms in terms of and he felt he
felt it was only literally a few hundred
quid behind ni behind Willie Mullins now
but um it depends basically it depends
if um it depends if the the statistics
on the Racing Post website I don’t know
when they up I think they’re behind yeah
I think they’re 24 hours behind you see
so I think so anyway he seems to think
he’s draw level but clearly tomorrow is
GNA a massive day for Willie Mullins
he’s loaded loads of races during the
week next week with with entries and of
course he’s got sand at the end of the
week but you never know it’s National
and the schol champion hle have a big
saying where they where they’re all they
all are at the end of the day tomorrow
one sorry sorry just one to four Mullins
7 to2 skeleton and 8 to1 nich is the
current bet okay I’m just saying I think
yeah he was yeah just over 30 grand
behind and he’s won just under 30 grand
today so yeah he yeah it’s about right
so yeah it is on as they as they say um
uh price boost Simon
yeah I mean look it’s all about Willie
mull tomorrow he’s got six runners in
the Scottish Grand National and we’re
betting 7even to four from six to five
Willie Mullins to train the Scottish
national winner um obviously we’ll be
talking about it later but he’s got uh
mcder to Mr Incredible which were the
joint favorites then uh Ptown and jumped
onto Spanish Harlem which surprised
everyone so they’re all all three of
them around the 8 to1 9 to1 Mark and
he’s got the outsiders will have W on
the ropes and Clark Kent so six1 for him
it’s 7 to four for the remainder of the
show uh Max bet 20 pounds was a six to
five chance okay thank you very much
before we get stuck into it of course
there is that line drawn um just to
round up uh an and chelham Tom seagull
uh I’m going to ask you one question I’m
going to ask po ke another so Tomas
eagle out of a tree last week one horse
that you were excited about that you
thought oh okay we can we can go to war
with next
season Jerry still love Jerry col Ross
think I think he’s got still got
untapped potential I think haven’t seen
the best of him I think he can win the
Gold Cup next year okay fair enough
actually Paul key I’ll throw the same
question to you first as well then ask
you another one oh I can’t even remember
the results of the races for last week
other than I Maximus you tipped off the
winners mate surely you can remember
them um yeah I actually thought Cru
control went hard enough to still be
able to hang on uh in that handicap race
so uh in the handicap Chase so I think
he’s probably got another decent prize
in him okay lovely stuff Simon same
question to you
uh I would say Lord snoy a lot of focus
last week on Kitty’s light brilliant run
the national for Christian Williams
who’s a top man Lord snoy ran second in
the hand hurle there he looks like a
horse who’s GNA develop into one of
those staying chases he’s only seven I
think next year and the year after he
could be uh another one to follow in
that production line okay fair enough
and yeah I’ll be looking forward to
actually campaigning John Bon over his
correct trip after two seasons of of
banging his head against the brick wall
so yeah and one more thing they’re
talking about changing it’s definitely
going to happen Paul key apparently uh
what’s the one thing you would change at
the year Festival we we were banging on
about it for ages but now the do settled
what is the one thing that stood out to
you that You’ change well I funny enough
I was thinking about this the other day
and I would take all the May’s races
away for them and run them on a new day
and have a trials weekend in January
rather than a trials day have a big
May’s Championship day on the Sunday
that’ll give all the Mayors a chance to
run against the big guns at cheltam six
weeks away uh and um I don’t know what
you’d fill the races with but a couple
of handicaps maybe but yeah just take
the take the mayor’s Championship races
away they don’t have to be there you can
still have May’s Championship day uh and
then they get a chance to run against
the big guns if they so wish okay thank
you very much and uh and Tom I mean we
the thing for me is the novice Chasers
it shouldn’t be the a tree and punches
town are where the best novice Chasers
all meet each other if cheltam is the
the the the biggest meeting of the year
then the novice CH should be meeting
against each other in the same race as
is there yeah you got to get rid of the
Turners Ross it’s as simple as that
races like that just completely dilute
it I I hate those sort of races there’s
no point in them you know what I mean
they just the two and a half mile race
is at entry and that’s where you should
go or punch or wherever it is but don’t
dilute the hole of chelham you know that
I don’t mind cheltam coming first and
then we meet seeing these clashes at
anry or punches town I don’t mind I’m
like different kills I don’t mind the
mays racing
as long as there’s no May’s races at
anry and punches town because that’s
pointless then they’ve got to run
against you know what I mean then
they’ve got to run against the open in
the open company so I’m not too worried
about May’s races at chelam I think
they’re probably I don’t mind them in
fact I find them I quite enjoy them I
quite I don’t I don’t mind them at all
but you’ve got to then not have them
further down the line which allows them
still to keep out of open company yeah
yeah it’s like it’s like going to see a
Bandon being like well before the
headliner uh here’s the headliner doing
a different uh set as the support act
and you’re kind of like well okay well
what’s what’s really the point having a
support act then but uh yeah and um I
mean I would also get rid of the Four
Mile if you’re a if you’re a novice if
you’re a Four Mile novice Chaser uh go
for the national that’s you can do that
these days and you probably win it
exactly exactly that’s a waste that’s a
waste of time as well with six Runners
so sort out the novice chases the novice
hurdles have always been fine lots of
horses running those even then you sort
of you know even sort of then that you
sort of finding Willie M is going to win
them anyway so don’t really matter but
uh but yeah get rid of the fourer the
Turners get that novice handicap Chase
back in there I me I know people say
keep novices out of the rest of the rest
of the handicaps I say keep them in
they’re the only ones I can ever find
the winners when they’re novices uh
those all aged handicaps or anything can
win I’m rubbish at them so keep novices
in handicaps but I think do think we
need that novice handicap Chase back
over two and a half miles rather than
the Turners yeah L Len or l on the the
chat says bring back the novice handicap
chase that used to be at the close with
us yeah that was an Absolut one of my
favorite races of the the festival Gary
sh hello to you good to see you Rosco
great tip from Tommy the first air today
which your crowd of is back and Kels has
been on an amazing run and Nicholas
Williams has stopped the greed at chant
get back to three days uh right let’s
see if we can continue the winners
rolling uh with with tomorrow’s cards
but first
this fancy a bet but find it confusing
do not fear Smart View is here to help
you we’ve taken the race card and
removed all the jargon and abbreviations
which can be daunting for newcomers the
result is a race card that means making
informed choices and picking winners is
easier than ever our racing experts and
data scientists have created an
algorithm that puts everything a season
punter would consider into the attribute
bars you see on the race card and
assesses each Runner with an overall
score out of
100 okay right let’s do it then shall we
starting off with with air and then
we’ll get stuck into Newbury so we’re
going to Rattle through these races
about as quickly as these horses will
rattle through this opener I think uh 2
miles and 110 yard the distance for this
opening handicap Chase and that could
make the difference if the the pace Maps
said to go by with this one somb 3 to1
Uncle Phil 4 to1 Penbrook 5 to1 persan
Time 5 to one trap brain law 5 to1
Tommy’s Oscar 5 to one and no uh my
record isn’t stuck they are all 3 to1 4
to one and 5 to one this is as tight as
it gets poor Keeley um bit surprised to
see s Bri out so quickly after that romp
at anry but um yeah I don’t really know
here I mean I thought he was a proper
horse to follow last week the only worry
here is there seems to be a lot of Front
Runners but we said that about the anry
race last week and he galled them into
submission yeah I don’t think they’ll I
don’t think they’ll gift him it like
like they did last week I mean he was
great last week when he was so fast and
accurate his fences but he is 10 pound
high and it is only a week and we don’t
know enough about him to know whether he
can back it up so quick do we um but I
did you know I was looking at it and I
thought well hang on a minute there are
s Bri Uncle Phil Penbrook trap R La they
can all go from the front can’t they and
it’s not like you know a couple of the
others have hung around sometimes so um
I was looking at it and I thinking you
know what the top weight um Tommy’s
Oscar he’s actually quite well
handicapped now he back on the same Mark
as when he bolted up earlier in the
season well first time out this season
at Kelo now he was probably outclassing
some inferior horses um after malistic
didn’t run his race but he even so uh
he’s he was he was outside of of of six
um earlier in after just after the decks
um I just think he’s going to be set up
for him the last couple of times he’s
run he’s been very keen he did go out to
his right last time which what isn’t
really him so he might have been feeling
something but on the racing post rating
figures he hasn’t run that badly uh and
I just think this will suit him this
will suit him very well um coming
through him so uh he was my selection
okay there we go Tommy’s osar then five
to one shot here uh did start to go back
through the this race though uh Tom and
um I think I it’s the last five winners
I think had either running this race the
previous year at air or running the
novice handicap at a the previous year
there’s something about a I mean all
horses have all courses have horses for
courses as it were um but um yeah you
get your chelum your a tree horses and
they come here and sometimes they get
beaten by an air horse and there’s only
really one of those in here and that’s
trap rain law yeah yeah I mean listen I
I agree with look at the prices I’m
slightly different from kills I don’t
think they’ll be able to go with s Bry
he’s in the same form as he was last
year last week uh just the question is
whether he is in that same form I mean
they won’t be able to jump and lay out
with him I don’t think I thought Uncle
Phil had a chance myself uh for Willie
Mullins tra rain law I get this a big
this is a step up in class but he does
like air as you point out I don’t know
about the ground it was it was it was
slow but I was expect it was a bit like
anry last I was expecting it to be a lot
slower than it was and I think it’ll be
good to soft with soft places tomorrow
uh whether that suits trap PR law I’m
not sure uh I thought this was as the
market says it’s really hard I I’d
probably side with Uncle Phil because I
thought he was impressive in the Dan
very well backed uh sort of like they
knew what they had then even though he
hadn’t got the form and you know it’s
been he’s one of the Mullins horses that
is fresher than most so maybe him but
it’s it’s not a race I’ve got too
much idea about really okay fair enough
I kind of hope somebody wins just
because he looks so good last week that
if he does go in again then they might
put him away and we might have a a
proper um you know another champion
Chase challenge possibly if he keeps
improving uh
Simon s the first um phase of the uh
title race is 28 grand to be one and
obviously Paul Nichols is the favorites
Mullins is the second favorite the
skeletons one of the third well it’s
four Co favorites at five to one um and
I suppose the hor fantasy Persian time
really I think you know Henderson has
got a great record in the race one well
at k last time and uh you know I think
he could go well but it’s a very trappy
race I just thought to shout out that as
it’s the first race at air um Willie
Mullins is represented in all eight
races he has the favorites in the last
two which we’re not going to be talking
about and we have got a couple of in the
no specials um Willie Mullins to win
four or more races was 13 to8 now 2 to
one and Willie Mullins to win five or
more races was six to1 now 7even to1 so
if you’re looking to kind of wrap up
Mullins in a load of races and we got a
couple of specials there but trappy
opening race Persian time for me okay do
we have a special Ms to win no races
Simon well I mean we could probably come
up with one you’re right I mean is not
impossible I mean he has got the five to
six favorite in the second so key de
ball Bon and the favorite the last 15
to8 say say to chance plus loaded in the
Scottish champ hle loads in the Scottish
national so you sort of feel you might
end up with one but we could always try
and find a price for zero and put that
on social yeah it should be really
interesting to see I just feel like a
lot of these horses will have been
targeted at this or had this in the back
of their mind and I feel like it feels
like I just throw the horses at the
meeting and hope some of them stick for
Mullins which obviously with those that
many quality horses it might work out
but I do feel that I don’t know this
seems a bit almost a bit of U I don’t
know maybe a little bit of arrogance
yeah we’ll go to Air and win a few races
and uh and all the people have been
planning to win races at air all uh for
for the last few months to say no no
we’ve got we’ve got this sort of things
the only thing is Ross is they would all
been going to punches anyway wouldn’t
they so it’s not like you put them in a
field and say we’re not going to run
these ones again they’ll all they all
been kept in you know they’ll all be
they all be ready don’t you worry about
that oh yeah they’ll be yeah I’m not
saying they won’t be ready but it’s just
um you know it’s the rest of them will
have had this uh in the in the back of
their mind but anyway uh the 150 of
there moving on from this this two- mile
handicap Chase to a three mile novices
Champion handicap Chase really
interesting uh contest there’s 13 of
them lining up loads of them have to
prove their stamina but loads have
plenty uh more to to come hitching
jacking is 13-2 joint favorite with
Montgomery at 13-2 charer is 7 to one
deeper blue is 7 to1 8 to1 marble Sands
9 to1 inch house with maasa and it is as
biger price as the rest here for this
150 at air really interesting Runners
here in in in here Tom um I had a short
list of well about four of them really I
thought a few were slightly bigger
prices than I was expecting marble Sands
really interest me and for many uh
Montgomery is a cliff
horse y very
good yeah really interesting race isn’t
it uh handicap don’t get many you know
classy handicaps like this originally
was all over deeper blue because I
thought he would uh love the step up to
three miles got cheap pieces on for the
first time R very well at newb last time
drying grounds in his favor and i’
pencell him in and done it all and then
it just suddenly struck me that charer
is in a total different class this lot
and if he stays the trip he will surely
have too much speed for them now I don’t
know what the the problem is he ran so
badly at chelham last time but take that
out he’s just won sixth grade ones he’s
won a gway purdle off top weight he was
run against I am Maximus not far behind
elete Tom not far
behind the other thing found a 50 in
grade ones over 2 miles i’ felt all
along that he was crying out for three
miles so if he gets the trip surely he’s
a lot lot I mean you can you imagine
charger running against these horses and
only giving them you know it’s
Unthinkable a year he second in the
champion hurdle yeah itching Jack in a
Montgomery it’s just it’s crazy isn’t it
but he’s been given a great Chance by
the handicapp he’s same you know not
giving any weight to Marble Sands it’s
only giving a stone to most of these
horses and he’s a lot better than them
the question is what form is he in and
uh will he stay the trip I think the
Trip’s not a problem I really don’t I
think he’ll love it but the question is
he run badly at chelham last time but
when he was 10 or 12 to one I have to
admit to to to to having having a few
quid on him because I think I think he’s
a class but and I like the class angle
in these type of races I always do so
I’m a sort of a sucker for those ones
but I do think Deepa blue is a is is a
danger I definitely do because I think
he’s going to improve a lot for the step
up to three miles he’s obviously got
more age on his side he’s a younger
horse har fi is flying uh pie is on for
the first time so he was he was the
danger I didn’t really like like the
other ones at the top of the market but
those are my two and I ended up on Sha
which means deeper blue will win now
fair enough um yeah I quite liked marble
sansia yeah the uh two from two for for
Nick slatter um has won here over two
and a half miles give it a little spin
on the flat I don’t know again when I
was saying about horse has being planned
up for this meeting this looks
definitely the plan for this
horse undoubtedly yeah he was really
good as well wasn’t he I mean he’s a
good horse he won the Huntington what
was that what’s that race they run at
Huntington the trial syney Banks Sydney
Banks he won that last year didn’t he
when he wasn’t supposed to he’s got
loads of good forms so I see it I can
see it definitely I mean he’s he’s
definitely not out of it like you I’m I
like I like clich is in these races so
so yeah I’d throw him in as well maybe
Paul key what’s on the list for
you uh yeah well D blue was absolutely
at the top of the list I’ve been backing
in him since Monday um still thought he
was quite a big price after the decks as
well
um yeah just like him he’s just improved
of every step up and trip asn’t he he
was he was uh beat a length and a half
by Henry’s friend when and his friend
was rated 129 he’s 139 now uh having won
the Reynolds town next time second last
time to on moon he would become well
handicapped I like the fact that they
both pull miles clear of a Buffalo
Soldier cuz that was at newbie and a
Buffalo Soldiers a b nuor he won his
previous two races there very easily so
I like the fact that they pulled way
clear of him yeah he went up three pound
for that he’s I I think he’s on a very
nice Mark Harry Fry’s flying as well
he’s also got 20% strike over cheek
pieces over the last few years um all
roads lead to him for me I was actually
surprised to see Sher in here I was
convinced that he wouldn’t even stay two
and a half mile earlier in his career
and obviously he does now because he’s
won over that trip but I think that’s a
big question mark was a big fan of
marble sanss earlier in the season does
seem to have two ways of run in doesn’t
he um I backed him at Newby against um
uh the ill fated Hermes Allen and he
never really went a yard and didn’t in
the CTO star afterwards but he’s he’s
he’s come back well uh with a win last
well I was going to say last time not
last time he’s actually won on the flat
since sdle isn’t he so yeah he’s been
he’s obviously been geared up for it but
I think Deepa Bo’s got loads of
improvement in him uh and charer may
well be different class but I think he’s
going to have to be different class by a
long way because I think Deepa blue is
going to be well ahead of his Mark yeah
i’ be happy if I you know if I owned or
trained charer and he went and won this
at age of 11 I’d be absolutely kicking
myself that we haven’t run over this
trip before but um as for the others uh
a few on the chat think Tom’s gone
absolutely mad going for charer uh and
Dave Brown is a DieHard fan of number 12
mlan lovely stuff there we go yipp k
indeed uh Simon CLA what do you make of
this wide open contest yeah it’s a
brilliant race 13 to do the field Big
Field we’re paying four places um I the
horse I like is maasa um I think he’s
he’s had a wind up okay run back and
he’ll improve for that some decent noice
hle form third and a grade two to ro my
way obviously Nicholls looking for the
Jo the trainers title probably would
have targeted this race and I think he’s
got a good chance okay mad then for all
you all you Lion King fans out there as
well there something for everyone there
really is uh moving on to the 225 then
at a the the col Scottish Champion
hurdle here L is 72 favorite favor and
Fortune 11 to2 biso 13 to2 First Street
sevens rubo 10 to1 Florida jeames 12 to1
afil 12’s Westport Cove 12 and bigger
prices the rest this looks an absolute
crack of a race doesn’t it uh other
horses to throw in at bigger prices eano
Fizz at the the age of nine she’ll be in
there as well Ginger May likes it round
here petite Tona who was poor last time
out but has got cheek pieces on uh but
uh the county hurdle was the plan poor
key for l s uh and he was run down by
what looked like a bit of a monster in
the shape of absurd to be fair to him
was run down a bit of a monster behind a
berico lord as well but he just keeps
getting beat doesn’t he I mean he
deserves to win a race he can’t really
hold that against him and berico Lord
and absurd can you no I’m just he’s been
he keeps getting beaten by very good
horses but he just keeps getting beaten
he does keep getting beaten yeah but I
mean he’ have won easily without absurd
being in the race wouldn’t he like you
know what I mean and absurd you know he
been managed to sneaked into handicap
off off a mark almost 20 lower than he
should have been based on this platform
so so you can’t hold it against him my
one thing I’d say about him is he don’t
doesn’t want the ground to dry out and
it has been very windy up here and the
more it dries um the less I’d like him
uh and I do quite like aidil uh he took
to the course very well last year he won
one pretty easily one going away wasn’t
the greatest race in the world obviously
but since then he’s come he’s just
become one of those really solid
handicappers wasn’t a great deal um
wasn’t that far behind loadad uh with
with the weight turn around are almost
handicapped to be next to each other
aren’t they and he’s been a good third
since at anry and I think he prefers a
little bit of better ground as well so
so I give him a chance I thought he was
a big price at 12 to1 okay um yeah aidel
then 12 to1 it’s it’s spring as well so
you know You’ imagine aidil will be um
coming into bloom uh
Tom seagull that lame Ross sometimes you
come up with some good ones but we can’t
go there surely no no we can’t it’s I’m
just I’m I’m going for quantity not
quality I’ve been told to just rattle
through it tonight so I don’t have time
to think whether it’s a good one or not
if it comes to the front of the brain
it’s coming out that’s his thing it’s
coming in it’s straight in um tell us
about one of your old friends our old
friends actually who I thought might
have a bit of a chance talking about
horses be suited by conditions uh I
thought Florida dreams might have a day
in the
yes yes definitely I mean he’s
interesting isn’t he just a little bit
disappointing hasn’t he so far over
hurdles considering how good he was as a
bumper horse obviously won the grade two
at entry uh took made heavy weather of
winning here to be fair and then ran
okay in the form me the grade one at
Amry but the ground would have been too
soft and then was tried over three miles
last time which he didn’t yet just just
too many question marks for me Ross to
to to back him in a race like this I
mean I he’s got if if everything fell in
his place I just wonder whether it’ll be
quite quick enough it wasn’t the best
bumper that anri’s ever had despite it
being a grade two but yes I could see
him running well I’m a big favor and
Fortune fan but he’s not a very good
jumper I’ve been just hope the ground
dries out for him I think he’s been
crying out to run on better ground been
running in the mud he made the worst one
of the worst mistakes you’ll ever see in
the Supreme at the first he must have
lost 10 lengths so he did really well to
finish where he did he’s a he’s a L good
horse him but I’m just worried about his
jumping I think aidil is definitely one
was on my list I also thought First
Street had a chance our old friend First
Street uh if we’re talking about horses
that have run well in a county hurdle
First Street was trying to give weight
to none other than stateman when he was
second in the county hurdle he’s had a
wind op since uh he I think was one of
the horses that work all over
Constitution Hill or no maybe he wasn’t
but he worked very well that day that
they were all running working badly been
they were pretty sweet on him at Shelton
and the Henderson mob we did a preview
with them and they were they were pretty
sweet on his chances although the plan
was to run him over in the count in the
coral cup over 25 I think two miles on
good ground is what he needs he’s got
plenty of form that gives him a chance
now the handicap has definitely given
him a chance didn’t run badly behind
lossy mouth last time we know that
formed very good so I give him a shot at
around 7 to1 but I’d 100% get K’s aidil
if he’s over having run so well last
week okay by the way you keep saying oh
are we sure it’s good I mean it was
pretty soft ground today I mean ptere is
a proper soft ground horse outw Peter’s
soft ground horse um the skeleton hor
who won the three M handicap hurdles as
a soft ground horse it was like it’s
like entry last week wasn’t it it was
just it wasn’t as soft as I was
expecting it to be it it was still soft
but I’m not sure it’ll be that soft
tomorrow I think it’ll be like it was an
entry on Grand National Day which was
soft but not bad I was just putting
lines through you know your R Boards of
this world think he’s a good horse but
he won’t he won’t want these conditions
so maybe I’m just trying to I’m just
double checking that I’m not getting too
hasty but I don’t know well you could be
I don’t know I mean as ke says it’s
windy he wouldn’t have done much for his
slice I wouldn’t have thought the wind
up at TR no but uh but uh it was very it
was very windy and they were running
into a headwind in the straight today so
so but the times are pretty slow they
certainly do suggest it’s soft ground
yeah it’s sof ground at the moment yeah
undoubtedly but I’m not sure it will be
tomorrow okay fair enough uh Simon CLA
the Scottish Champion hurdle um any
spanners to throw in the works from
you well it’s the coral Scottish
Champion hurdle obviously we should
mention the sponsor name there but I I I
did mention the F first two and I you
know from that’s that’s a fair point I
apologize I missed that you forgive you
forgive h four places we we’re offering
great field really thrilled with the
field and rubo rubo’s got to carry 13
pounds more than last year when he won
and as the guys you’ve been saying maybe
the rounds not so suitable this year um
load of s I mean I spoke to Dan today
he’s he’s very confident of a big run I
mean theyve they’ve handled his horse
quite carefully this season after his uh
you know being pulled up first time out
big two big seconds in in great handicap
company I think he’s got a great chance
really and favor and Fortune obviously
terrific graded form in the Supreme and
the for B and the three FS the last four
years I think I I’m sort looking at the
front end of the market I mean first
streak there been a bit of money for um
understandbly I say he’s he’s a horse he
ran in this eth last year he’s got seven
pounds less on his back um so yeah for
me I think I’d probably focus on load of
s’s favorite know it’s unoriginal but uh
scel had a trouble today and this would
be a big big win for him if you can win
it in the in the trainers title race it
would indeed it would indeed uh big
shout out to Philip clayon would
cracking Rap City be 16 to1 if it was
trained by a name trainer uh no probably
not like I said one of those Scottish
horses that that say oh you’re going to
come up and have a crack are you well
we’ve been aiming for this all uh All
Season Tom Lee says rubo it’s
rubu Ross uh I apologize to youo Tommy
leech with that one okay I’ll I’ll make
a note of that uh thank you any of the
minor mistakes I make feel free to point
them out in the chat uh 3:00 at a then
coming up what’s up you w have time to
go through all your mistakes I know
exactly I know what is this um I’m back
at primary school again aren’t I oh
imagine what he could achieve if he just
focused for five minutes now uh three
mile handicap hurdle for the Mayes on
the on the way next a penny 100 is 130
favorite Coco Madame wasel is 9-2 large
mon last 5 to1 pink in the park 11 to2
saor v 7 to1 osini 10 Kisa 14s of
Philipa Su and biger of the rest uh and
uh Tom seagull this looks a a toughy
because I mean these these May’s finals
and and big races like this again
trainers will have had them in their
mind all season and you think oh this
horse needs to improve and then well
they do because this has been the
pl yeah absolutely uh wasn’t one of my
races this so I didn’t have a very good
very good look at it
uh Dan O Ross is the answer to that I
thought obviously with the with the uh
with this with the amount of Mayes he
has in his yard Willie M was obviously
the first place to start but Dan Scout
another treble there today didn’t he and
good mamelle was quite impressive uh the
last time so she was top of my list but
as I say it wasn’t a race I really went
into with any great detail considering
it what they didn’t price it up for me
right fair enough I didn’t know that so
let’s go to por key and see if he has an
angle uh not really I found this
incredibly hard um so I ended up not
tipping it uh myself uh the one i’ sort
of come down and probably like the most
is Larch mon L um just seems to be
another one who’s in who may well
improve a step up and trip that down one
over 2 M 6 she has improved with pretty
much every run
obviously w at win canon in February uh
and then um four for 17 in a in a in a
decent hand decent enough handicap at
Newby that final race I thought that was
okay and looked then as though she’d
want to go further so uh yeah give her a
chance but it’s not a race I’m well I
will have a pay it because I’m here but
if I wasn’t I wouldn’t be yeah must
mention L the bottom one must me because
he won today didn’t she presenting Nelly
yeah and she doesn’t get a penalty
and she was quite impressive so she
maybe comes into it as well even though
I don’t know if you she’s running or
whatever but she did win today and she
is declared to go tomorrow that’s the
the reason why they wouldn’t price it up
right I see okay fair enough um yeah and
I’ll have to throw in Philip puru as
well a given um fancy Marvel Sans
earlier on um she could be a little bit
interested she’ll definitely stay the
trip which is more than can be said for
a few of these uh yeah and I mean yeah
presenting Nell’s there she’s won today
and they’re going for the trainers title
any any rep Simon about whether she’s
going to take a
chance listen I’d be pretty sure if they
felt that she was she was fine in the
morning and they thought she could run
well they they would let her run I mean
the one thing I mean I think Dan Dan’s
gonna have a good day tomorrow I know
Will’s fired 18 but to your point an
awful lot of those 18 have been H they
probably decide in the last week to run
whereas Dan has been on a mission to win
this trainers championship for the last
month and all his Runners this over
these two days have been targeted at
this meeting Coco Madam roelle is one of
those he says we’ve been aiming her at
this race um from you know from her last
you know last win five weeks ago and
trip and ground will be ideal and I
think he thinks she’s you know even
comments in his blog the lab’s blog not
Carl blog and that you know the fact
that Willie Mullins are suddenly enter
horses has clearly made made his plans a
little bit tougher but I think you know
looking at today’s form his horses are
running really well I think she’s got a
great chance and it would be very
interesting to see presenting Nelly does
decid to run but she is a 16 to1 chance
so uh we’ll wait and
see okay very enough
right that’s the 3:00 at at air then
moving on to the coral Scottish Grand
National 26 of them running here over
over the Four mile trip and again made a
little bit more interesting by the fact
that Willie Mullins has thrown um loads
of horses at this I mean who knew after
the amount of horses he ran in the the
Grand National entry last week that he
had so many more stain Chasers up his
sleeve and some of them who I don’t even
think they knew they were staying chases
until they were told they running in
this race uh git maker is 7 to one mcder
is 8 to1 Spanish Harlem is 8 to1 inisha
9 to1 Mr Incredible 9es angas crank 10’s
stay away F 11s Bal Griffin Cottage is
12 to one and then bigger prizes the
rest including horses like Mr Vango who
never a Squeak My Silver Lining who
never runs a bad race
bport KY that killed me at utox if he
goes in again I think I’ll uh I think
I’ll retire an autonomous cloud and Iron
Bridge who should like conditions as
well who are 20 to1 and 25 to1
respective ly but um yeah what a I’m not
going to say strange lineup KS but the
the Mullins Factor really has put a a
different spin on this cuz I me I
remember thinking Spanish Harlem was
thrown in over hurdles for last year’s
Martin pipe he’s run three times over
two and a half miles in bad ground over
fences and now he’s here off handicap
debut in the Scottish national yeah
absolutely I mean it was funny we saw
the we saw the um jockeys get announced
and I thought well I better back Spanish
Harlem because he’s 20 OD to one and he
won’t be uh uh so I dick the value there
but then I had another look at him and
reminded myself why I couldn’t have him
on my mind the first place I genuinely
wouldn’t back him at 21
now yeah uh I don’t see I just don’t see
where that’s coming from you can
certainly see the case with mcder thing
is Willie M is just throwing loads of
horses these race none of these will
have had this race as their target uh at
any point in the season until a few week
until you know Shelton basically uh and
you know his act strike rate in um
handicap chases fairly Dreadful I think
six winners from 64 or something since
2009 in handicap chases um it just he
doesn’t do handicap chases really you
know he’s got a good chaser they go for
graded races so I I always tend to
oppose them um unless they’re in the
very biggest races obviously I can’t say
that because I’m back to am Maximus but
but I do tend to oppos I mean 50 to one
though KS I mean if they were if they
were all 50 to one we’d all have a few
quid on wouldn’t we so yeah that I mean
that was just a Darth price at the time
wasn’t it I must admit uh but anyway I I
can’t see what’s wrong with with um git
maker jit maker whatever you want want
to call him um he ran into the biggest
plot you know everyone goes on about
langard Dad he ran into the biggest plot
horse of the Charon Festival didn’t he
um I know the way you’re thinking gets
in there with 145 um he’s a 160 horse
all day long uh he wins the race
incredibly easy follows up in grade one
company at anry and is one of the best
stay noice Chasers around
uh take him out the Race Kit makers won
a 21 Runner Kim M by 18 length and gone
up a pound for it um I think he’s got to
have a massive chance isn’t he this race
goes to novices fairly often he’s an
eight-year-old carrying tenstone three
likes cutting the ground um all he
seemed to do is stay at cheltam I think
he must have a massive chance and he’ll
be in the front rank early on early on
enough as well so hopefully be out of
trouble um so yeah I really like him and
I also like Mr Vango another horse that
ran at Shelton given you know when he
had absolutely no chance against Corbit
cross he was now rated
165 um he was beaten 25 lents but you
know he’s only beat eight length but 150
rated runner up again another horse soft
back in a handicap with 135 and a low
weight those were my two against the
field thank you Paul Keeley uh now it’s
time for the Lumix Report with Tom
seagull uh how many Lumes will be lining
up in the Scottish sad National tomorrow
doesn’t matter Ross because you don’t
need to jump anymore no every lamu goes
in don’t
they s Gino lumu cor cross nearly one I
am Maximus they just win because it’s
not about jumping anymore I think Air’s
probably a stiffer test of jumping than
than the anry National fences actually
so I I was going to say there was there
was some races at chale on Saturday on
national day that were that made that
made ay looked like a a stroll in the
Park yeah exactly so maybe maybe maybe
maybe lames will will get found out here
there there are a few Mr Incredibles a
bit of a LX isn’t he if he dares to
start uh I thought it was impossible I’m
I’ve had Mill Nationals by this time of
the Season I’m you know sometime when
the Scottish Nationals run on good
ground I feel the aage I don’t know i’
I’ve tried I went through it 50 times
with a t fine tooth conb Must Have Spent
10 hours on the race studying every
horsey and I came up with Git maker
obviously because of his format thing
and I thought
had a chance too but they were you know
it’s still only you’re only getting
seven or eight to one about and I think
anything could win it I really do angas
cag’s got to have a chance stay away F’s
very classy B Griffin Cottage if he’s
back to his best do you know what I mean
and then all the Willie mulls ones I’m
not worried whether they’ve been
targeted at the race or not really I
think they would have been targeted at
other races around this time it’s not
like as I said before so I don’t know I
I threw this one firmly in that I don’t
have a clue uh category uh could make a
case for
loads okay um I mean there’s there’s the
the ultimate lumu here how I feeling
this I might have missed it which is the
lumu well I kept looking and I was
thinking this he’s a he’s a flat track
left-handed Galloping lumu and his
name’s Iron Bridge oh he’s a
lumu he’s Captain he’s Vice chairman
Maximus he is indeed he he’s he’s he’s
waiting for that promotion um but yeah I
mean God knows what happened at utox but
he was sent off 9 to2 faor it for that
and it was a weird race that that
Midlands actually it was a very weird
race but every other staying handicap
Chase in softground that he’s running
would put him right in the mix here and
he’s 28 to1 uh 25 to1 what is he 28 to1
25 to1 six places uh s at Simon um yeah
do uh I’d like a prize can I have a priz
to finish second to sixth and not win
hold
on I’m going to my jjo O’Neal contact
Simon can you hear us
yeah I was with jonjo today he popped in
we had a chat a little glass of
champagne and his own his observation
was you know he does does he you know he
doesn’t jump well enough was his concern
I just I think there was his one worry
that he you know in his runs you know he
hasn’t been jumping well enough now he
says that he’s a great he’s a great
trainer I’m sure J’s been schooling him
so um you know it is a really important
I mean I love this race I mean look
everything Tom just said about what a
tough race is to find the winner is
exactly why it’s a great National and
and you know it’s always worth
remembering this is the fourth biggest
betting race in betting shops in the
country behind only the Grand National
the chel Gold Cup and the Derby a lot of
people forget that and don’t appreciate
it and it’s it’s a bit further down in
the top 10 of digital races but in terms
of betting shops it really is a proper
National only second you know only
second in terms of Nationals the Grand
National and and this year I think he’s
brilliant because you can make cases for
an awful lot of horses and it wouldn’t
hugely surprise you any them won and we
have a plenty of big price winners over
the years 40 to1 33 to1 to 25 T in the
last 10 years so it is worth trying to
feret out a big price as well as going
for the obvious git maker which I think
makes a lot of sense we are paying six
places and we are betting six to one uh
Paul Nichols or Dan Skelton to win the
Scottish Grand National from five to one
they’ve got three broken Halo and stay
away Faith paor Nichols and Bal Griffin
Cottage he’s been quite well backed for
the Dan Skelton team I’m obviously
cheerleading on on today’s show and
we’ve got another special which is
Willie Mullins to win both the Scottish
champion hle and the Scottish Grand
National that’s 7 to one from six to1
he’s got three runners in the in the
Scottish champion hle at 3:00 and then
six in this so there’s a few specials to
Chuck out there but brilliant race I
love it I love sponsoring it and it’s
great to be up here for it and uh I
think the horses I would short list
personally because you allow three or
four goals in a Scottish in a national
My Silver Lining I think he got the
perfect run Style just jump from fence
to fence stays all day I think he’ll
just run well G maker got to have a bet
on that he’s the form horse and Jamie
Stone’s great at you know won the coral
Gold Cup early in the season he’s great
at these big race handicaps I’m going to
throw a few quit at secret repri
obviously had loads of problems since
we’re in the coral National but he’s
running here he’s had the one run back
Evan Williams’s hores are running really
well I think he got about 70% RPF or
whatever it’s called on the racing post
I think he’s worth a bit of loyalty
money H and I think those are probably
the three and Mr Vang as Paul said I
actually backed him in that um he was
quite well backed as a bit of money for
him in the National hunt Chase he ended
up running a really good race in third
he was way off it on rankings but he ran
really well and he’s only been put up
three pounds or something for that so I
think he’s got a great chance of a
decent run to down to Ben Jones who’s
had a great season okay yeah yeah I must
say I mean we know we not say it’s a bad
race because it’s a good race that makes
it harder to find Winners but and I mean
these lows that would kind of drive me a
bit mad Spanish Harlem and bport the top
two but there are a few others and um
one more to mention would be autonomous
Cloud I think who um was a bit of an eye
catcher at you toxit heel handle
conditions and Jonathan Burke gave a
couple of horses over fences absolute
blinding rides at chanton the other day
so um he’s riding with plenty of uh of
zest and Ferg o’ban is obviously in very
good form as well so I throw him right
into the mix uh Duncan Evans says I
don’t have a clue what will win this
quality tipping this is why these boys
have paid the big books uh you’re right
Duncan uh we should absolutely uh put
you away and tell you we fancy one when
we don’t uh as for the the others what
else have we got uh anyone else get
maker for Max Gilman uh Tom leech say
ion Yak it’s a bit harsh Tom uh what
else Eggbert and my silver lining for
Jim Anderson and uh what else have me we
got Philip Clayton says for me go cup
Bailey boa angas KAG and Tommy B all in
with a squeak uh and uh and watch out
down at the start because um if Clark
Kent’s got his glasses on I don’t think
he’ll do very well but if he’s not
wearing them I think he might be a lot
better than that Mark uh might need to
give Mr Incredible a bit of a push as
well M that’d be a fight wouldn’t it
those two KY right um Tom you don’t have
a clue so Paul key what you back in in
the Scottish national yeah uh git maker
and Mr Vango were the two I like best
okay fair enough um I’ve ended up not
really want to get involved in this race
I’m I’m going to back Iron Bridge an
autonomous Cloud I think and then curse
myself as half the other field to get
involved Simon yeah I like Paul ke’s too
as well as my silver lining and if you
could on secret ore for all time sake
okay thank you very much uh right like
the stream if you’re watching it by the
way go on give us a Thum up
um know that was that’s my impression of
KS uh three mile novice’s handicap
hurdle at air before we get stuck into
Newbury welcome to car here uh that’s
definitely pronounced that wrong Tom
please tell me if I have masio 7 to2
major Fortune 9-2 chosen witness six
milky sevens Young Jack eight president
Scot the 11s I love my bay is 12 to one
uh and bigger price as the rest you know
what Tom
I had I had lumu written down on on a on
a card at air tomorrow it was in this
race it was in a handicap hurdle go on
then you gotta you can’t leave me with
that I’m I’m I I’ve started the lumu fan
club which one it’s doore boy or doore
Bay sorry he is he’s a right told lumu
he is what he’s doing over hurdles he’s
a six-year-old he said he should have
been jumping fences two years ago he
he’s got all the ability in the world
but
oh he is he is LMU with a capital
l well he he can he he’s not in my lumu
I’ve got a great big list of them and
he’s not in there yet but on your say so
Ross he is going in and about number
straight in as they used to say at
number 12 lovely stuff he’ll win the uh
he’ll win the classic chase at Warick or
something in the in the future anyway
he’s that good is he he’s quite a good
lumux is he he’s he’s he’s a one he’s a
132 L over hurdles at the moment and he
can and and he doesn’t seem to be
enjoying life over the the smaller
obstacles I think he’s got squeak
actually but that’s just because I love
Lumes what do you like Tom I’m massive
fan of Lumes but I’m not sure I’m on him
I thought M
masakio had a decent chance uh stepping
up in trip I like him as a horse welcome
to catri is he’s a bit of a lumu isn’t
he he’s a big old unit him very strong
stayer isn’t he he’ll like the trip uh
think you might like it if it dries out
a bit as well he’s S one of those
nichels horses that might might do
better for for a bit of thing but I was
masakio fan in a race that looked was
not one of mine either but I but I will
have a few quid on masakio even at the
price okay um I mean I thought Doo Bay
was a little bit interesting K the other
one is was I love my bay Who ah what
what is this doing at 12 to One Beat
pretending I backed it at eight straight
after pretending one yesterday oh right
okay best
guaranteed yeah he got the 12 I don’t I
don’t get it because he come through
beat pretending pretty com last time
pretended hacked up in a 16 Runner
handicap hurdle at cheltam yesterday and
he’s gone out four points I don’t really
get it I suppose the the sandwiched in
between those two wins of I love my bay
is a step up to Three Mile and finishing
tailed off but I thought he was beaten
far too soon for the distance to be an
issue there I don’t know whether he
didn’t like the quick ground um or or
what it was but I wouldn’t be totally
convinced that it would it was the trip
he’s a brother to a my one furong winner
for a start so yeah I’d give him a
chance I don’t understand why he’s a
double figure price totally agree with
you yeah um what uh was is is is that
was that your selection or is another
one no that was it that was it great
lovely stuff there we go in agreement uh
Simon CLA yeah like maacho obviously ran
fifth in the coral calow hurdle now the
coral sponsored race but the threw up
the Duke box man obviously who came who
run two big races at the festivals he
was third that day maacho was back in
fifth think he’ll go very well but Young
Jack interested me a lot he’s owned by a
man called David Armstrong owns a lot of
horses and loves this meeting always
targets uh the air meeting he owns this
with Lee Westwood they’re both here
tomorrow um he’s been well back Chris gr
a very true trainer been well back from
s 12 down to eight already I think the
money might keep coming for him he’s his
first run a handicap company he ran well
over two and a half miles Dro down his
two mile one FD on last time and now
he’s making handicap debut over three
miles so um yeah I think I think he’s
the money money’s speaking to me I think
he’s a good each way chance okay there
we go yeah he does love run air uh 23
Runners three winners two seconds two
thirds two fourths at the the track for
these owners uh 7-2 joint favorites
welcome to kre and massachio quick shout
out if anyone fancy anything on the chat
major Fortune but the price is rubbish
says mike boy um and uh president Scotty
each way for Tom leech yeah another
another air horse president Scotty he
really um oh was was gifted the race on
his been ultimate start but then hacked
up up to three miles last time out so
yeah this looks a really open
contest okay let’s just take a deep
breath and uh and switch from uh massive
Fields over over hurdles and fences uh
it’s a massive fields on the flat over
at Newbury uh on um what’s going to be
what probably it says good to soft
ground isn’t it but uh this meeting last
year the place pot paid £
29,000 to a pound so um if it’s anything
like that we might expect some uh some
surprise results uh but we’ve got a
short priz favorite in quite a few of
the races to be fair an arrest is the
first one uh to to get stuck into here
in this m and a half group three contest
six to four heish 11 to4 Al kareim 5 to1
chess piece 9 to1 maaba 11s alib 14s Max
veger 20s and 25 to1 and bigger the rest
here uh we’ll come to you first Tom
because you said you liked uh the look
of that new card tomorrow rest of course
really really quality three-year-old
last year uh he should train on he’s
with fantastic connections but I don’t
know it always seems lazy pricing this W
everyone will back her rest given
connections will stick him in at 6
to4 yeah could be could be yeah I mean
you want me to go I was I was pretty
rubbish on some of those Air Races
because I’m had my fill of moderate
handicap chases and moderate handicap
hurdles for the time being so I love
this new Bri card I know I’m going to be
in Simon’s bad books because it’s not
the coral sponsored day but I thought it
was a really really interesting card and
this is a really interesting race arrest
is uh arrest is the form horse isn’t he
on his second in the St Ledger but like
all the Goen horses have been well we’ve
seen all week that you need to be
sticking with trainers that have their
horses ready peaked and and and in good
form at the moment and while arrest can
win he’s not six to4 shot given that
John gosen went on telly today and said
yeah they’re 80% we’re getting them
ready for the all are ones we’re running
at the moment we’re getting ready for
something else you’re worried about
Willie Mullins running his horses you
know at air because he hasn’t targeted
the races well John Goen admitted that
these horses aren’t targeted at the
races so I mean you get the feeling with
the rest I’m thinking you know go to
Chester uh and then go to Epsom for the
coronation right that in my head that’s
ground he’ll have to have soft ground
wherever he goes he won’t be going back
to Epsom he was favored for the Derby
wasn’t he last year and he he hated he
need he needs himself in the chin a bit
you know he’s one of he’s doing like
situps when he arrest so he needs soft
ground heish is Amazing Horse 10 wins
out of 18 starts unbeaten last year he’s
an eight-year-old now uh got a little
penalty but I’m not too worried about
that I think he’ll go well if he’s fit
it’s just whether he’s fit as an eight
an eight-year-old Al km was God I could
go on forever and you won’t be able to
get out for your pint kills so so I
won’t keep going but uh alarem was
targeted at the Nottingham race uh the
further flight Stak so cber he’ll he’ll
be fit and ready chess piece ran well
been gilded Simon Chris said all last
year wait till wa you see him ill
improve once he’s got muava couldn’t
have won easier at this track on soft
ground as a in a handicap one by eight
lengths beating some good horses thing
is he just finished last tailed off last
on his comeback run after a long time
out Al’s been to Qatar so it’s wide open
Max Vegas’s run well in the race and you
can’t rule out certain lad either he’s I
think he’s been crying out for a step up
to a mile and a half Jack shanon’s
horses are going really well uh he’s
this he’s not not be Far Behind These on
official ratings Racing Post ratings top
speed ratings any ratings so he could
run well at 25 I personally think that
that heh might win it because he’s just
such a he’s just a winner but uh but
it’s a great race really looking forward
to it best version of this race for many
years I think yeah yeah I had a short
list of two here and one was Al Kareem
who gets gets ready pretty quickly and
he he’s always underrated he never ever
runs a bad race I can see him kicking
clear in the home straight and I do love
I’m going to follow Alison kib off a
cliff I think this year I thought he was
fantastic last year he he just keeps on
winning and winning yeah he’s been to
doar In in December but the way he came
home at New Market he looks a really
nice type um if he’s not rated a stone
Higher by the end of the year I’ll be
disappointed um Paul Keeley um Tom’s
well into the Newbery card so you can
keep it short and sweet yeah absolutely
I the one I think is most likely winner
is HH um I want to pose arrest for all
the reasons that Tom said they were
windless at the craving meet in the go
weren’t they um I liked majaba at a
price um if you remember alari ran an
absolute Dreadful race first time up for
haggas last season then came out and and
won very easily at newbie I think if he
come back to that heavy ground form
he’ll go close but I’ll have a couple of
quides where on Max vager as well I
think because he runs this um course so
well okay Simon CLA any opening newbody
thoughts and offers
just quickly much tabber obviously Jim
croy’s blog he went flew all the way
over the front for one ride to mber and
he said he got completely you know lost
in the heavy ground there that day so I
think he’s expecting much better from
him tomorrow and generally so I think uh
but it’s still it’s a bit of a leap of
faith given how you know AB it was last
time and you know heish for me one first
time out last couple of Seasons love
these older horses who you know’s he’s a
group three specialist I think he’ll go
very well and we’re taking on the fa and
you are in Scotland of course so uh fair
enough
um 205 AT Newbury then let’s move on to
the the Fred darling uh a a trial for
the 1,000 ginies in theory or be it we’
got a sprinter at the top of the beding
relief rally 3 to1 Regal Jubilee 7 to2
Star music 7-2 folgaria 9-2 El Mala 5
to1 top hanger 14 to1 uh and uh yeah a
uh a small but select field here Tom I’m
going to keep coming to you first for
this at these Newbury races relief rally
really really interesting horse uh
fantastic last year
um the dam has produced seven horses
they’ve run 135 times between a lot of
them 24 times they’ve run over seven
fongs or further and they’ve won
once three to one favorite I’m just I
mean she’s great but is she a seven F
old horse she was my favorite
two-year-old Philly of last year by a
country mile I thought she was
Sensational uh almost every time should
have been unbeaten desperately unlucky
not to win a royal ascott uh no I don’t
think so I I would be I would be worried
about her at seven fals especially on
slowish ground uh yeah that would be my
worry for Regal Jubilee will like the
ground she’s won over a mile she looked
good at new market last year she’s by
Frankle uh she could go she could go
really well which she’s another thing
and it’s no surprise for me to see the
money come for Richard Hugh’s horse Star
music who was a very Progressive last
year Richard hes hor going really well
uh third to dance sequence and skelet I
know dance sequence got beaten in the
Nailin but I think
that’s
for I mean if you I watched that back
time and I thought for a hsees w at New
Market she sure ain’t hating she’s
really hated New Market you know I
thought she probably should have won
that yeah well I don’t know if she won
they good Philly she she’d be but she’s
she I think this will suit her down to
the ground this will be in the Target
got to mention the old Italian mafia of
horse the folgaria who’s won all her
races in Italy by Miles and could be
anything just hard to weigh up 92 looks
plenty short enough amalo did some
incredible sectionals when she won at
SEL but the Varian horses have been a
little bit disappointing this week so I
think star musical win just because I
think she’ll be ready she’ll light the
ground and she’ll stay yeah okay uh yeah
shout out that’s that that third at
Newbury by the way Star music behind
she’s quality back in SE seventh was
romantic style who went on toh to win at
at doville uh well w at Newark it beat a
day and Devon who’s w at B tonight and
went to doville and beat ratel who Sam
Hart if she comes over for for Chris for
Christopher head and ratel wins the
1,000 guies I don’t think we’ll see Sam
Hart again um given his uh given how
Port Portsmouth and ratel double I mean
if he’s had that I genuinely think he’ll
be retiring before the lot of us so uh
and even taught Paul Keelan to back in
in which admittedly doesn’t take that
much normally KS but
you but you’re mat what did you make of
this
anything um yes fny I thought I was
tipping an outsider in Star music um at
the start of the day but obious there
been plenty of money for it you can see
why Rich’s got 32% strike rate this year
so far uh absolutely flying um word is
she’s improved dramatically from last
year I know I don’t think relief rally
will stay I mean William haggas was
talking about running in the ab last
season um and again opposing the the
um for the reasons we mentioned before
so yeah I thought I thought I’d take a
chance on her
um it’s it’s it’s a guess at the end of
the day isn’t it um I’m not sure I’ll be
backing them at fours but I backed to a
bit little bit bigger okay Simon CLA uh
1,000 guine
trialists yeah no I feel like a bit like
countdown when I got the same score as
one of the other guys there Star music
BR us and Brilliant form lots of money
for her and the shortest price of these
for the 10,000 gin is Regal Jubilee at
21 so I don’t don’t think it’s going to
make a ripple on the classic markets but
um yeah I’d be happy to follow the money
and the yard form with star music okay I
think we’re all in agreement then so
it’s and on to the 240 then the greenham
stakes over at Newbury tomorrow uh and
again a short price favor it be a
drifting one for the the greenham in the
shape of Zoom Zoom who’s 2 to1 was a
little bit shorter earlier on 11-2 Bal
Mount boy 8 to1 Army ethos 8 to1 Mr sket
room service 8 to1 Sun 9 to1 we would
have thought there’d be money for a
Richard Hannah horse 10 to1 watch my
Tracer James Delight 14 to1 and bigger
price as the rest and I really wanted to
take on this favorite uh Tom and I don’t
think I’m the only one by looks of
things part of me from I know my heart
saying a gin winning a a 2,000 guish
trial F Cy um but I mean he was cracking
last year but I thought this was quite a
deep race and these I don’t know these
trials are often not six to four earlier
on I thought got I’m not touching that
with the barge ball yeah we saw in the
week didn’t we I like these races I like
these trials I think they’re great
betting opportunities for panters
because they’re based they’re based on
things that might be completely wrong
like for for starter zoom zoom he might
be unbeaten but he hasn’t got the hasn’t
got the best form in the race I wouldn’t
have thought there’s others that have
run in better company than him he did
look quite good when he went to France
last year and obviously he won at New
Market beating uh frankl’s half brother
who won at New Market in the week but
it’s it’s still not it’s not Top Class
Form B Mount boy has got likes off
ground gloves for him I’m bit worried
about Mr Sketch um Eve Johnson hon was
on quoted as saying she he won’t be
ready for this but she’s had plenty of
horses run she had a well back
two-year-old winner bath a few minutes
ago so take that with a pinch of Sal
maybe Army ethos is second to the centry
is probably the best piece of form on
offer but he then got went to had all
that time off and came back and then got
beaten at Newcastle was it yeah I think
it was yeah at Newcastle but might be a
good horse that beat him so put him out
room service won the sales race didn’t
the and was really impressive in doing
so how good that form is don’t know but
it was probably good I think I mean I’m
I think it’s boring but I think Sun’s
gonna win I really do I mean it’s got
form that tied is as good as any of
these he ran fifth in the Vintage last
year to harm and Iberian who are two of
the two of the two of the bet me they’re
not rosalion or C city of Troys but
pretty good and he was really unlucky he
should have been a lot closer he then
went and ran fine behind uh some classic
pretend Pretenders at both New Market
and soulsbury was it no yeah behind
ghost riter in the Royal Lodge I think
he’s just going to be bang on for this
Richard Hannon wins trials he has his
horses bang on we all saw what happened
today you had three winners that you
know three very two very very well
backed winners the last couple for the
owners of this one Julie Wood nice to
see Julie Wood back because she she went
through a few years of either not having
many horses or having them winning at at
chps though in not to 70s or something
and you know I’m remembering the Mina
Rose for example did be a good turn a
few years ago at Don she you know she’s
been a good supporter and it’s she she
she doesn’t spend a lot of money but she
gets a hell of a lot of winners she’s
she’s very sh true she uses good
stallions she uses good stallions that’s
for sure and uh I just think Sun’s going
to be ready for this and his form puts
him right in there slightly worried
about stall one if I’m if I’m being
truthful about it not that I’m a great
draw man but it seemed today that sort
of nearer the stands rail was was was
slightly favored if anything that might
be over complication which I’m prone to
but I did think he’s gonna I expect him
to go out make the running just like the
Philly did in the last race today if
something picks her up they’ll be pretty
decent I think so I like sun yeah it’s
normally the complete opposite I
normally love a draw on the straight
track at newb but yeah me too me too it
didn’t look like it today did you see
the racing yeah yeah it was it was
completely opposite um you know new clar
of the course Ross might be doing
something slightly differently okay
although we do have to remember though
Tom that jockeys are jockies and they
may completely ignore this near side
tomorrow exactly a completely different
kettle of fish um Mr PA
Keeley yeah I wanted to have a popet an
outsider just I didn’t think it was a
great race and you can pick holes in
form or stamina or and and various sorts
of things and one of the things about
these these races is you know that some
horses can improve dramatically in the
six months from the end of last season
to the start of this season and one of
those has already done that is James’s
Delight I mean I know it wasn’t much of
a race but he absolutely hacked up at
pontif frct and a handicap on every
ground last time and the rpr he’s got
there which in second Sor sorry joint
second in rprs joint uh joint third on
top speed and he’s 16 to1 and his race
fit um so I just thought I might have a
couple of quid each way on him okay fair
enough yeah uh yeah I’ve had a little
bit on son as well Tomy I mean I saw the
20s thought oh I’ll back that it was 14
so had that and actually I’m feeling all
right now it’s nines but um that said
Simon again I mean part of me thinks who
whatever happens in this race it will
only make city of Troy even
shorter yes I think we assume that I me
the shortest price for the guies of any
of these is Army ethos at 50 to1 then
it’s Bal Mount boy at 66 to1 so it’s not
going to have a huge Ripple on the
Classic Market um very interesting
hearing the guys chat through some value
play sun is now 9 to1 from 16 to1 it was
16 to1 an hour ago when I went through
the prices so that money has comeing the
last hour um and the horse I just
thought when going through it I thought
B Mount boy was just so solid you pull
too hard at long Sean but second to Van
goodward second in the AUM one Coley
last time out of Doncaster yes there’s
that six months since the end of last
season but sometimes right at the start
that two-year-old form s of holds up for
four and you know saw horses catch them
up and coming out you know Adrian Paul
keatley yards in good form just thought
was very solid to me but a trappy greenh
them no question yeah it is indeed okay
uh I tell you what though it’ll it’s
going to throw up some right all
challenges for Tom’s favorite race the
Commonwealth
cup there’s going to be some horses in
that out of this
Racey that was Ross to read that they
might be downgrading it from a grade one
you see I’m getting there I’m getting
there your your sternly worded letters
are making an impact uh the Spring Cup
then to to see us out then uh at the uh
the Lincoln uh part two uh Noble order 7
to1 navagio 8 to1 Thunderball eights
godwinson eights latam eights real game
10 rabar 10 two 12 to one bigger the
rest Let’s Go To You Paul key Big Field
handicap is uh is your bread and butter
uh and quite aptly we just had Philip
clayer said with that camera angle
keeles would make a good uh Bond villain
uh and I tell you what he yeah he would
and I tell you what after tomorrow I
think I know what my favorite Bond film
is going to be if it all goes to plan
because I think Thunderball is a right
old bet in the Spring Cup tomorrow yeah
D I can’t explain your reason then yeah
no no I’m just going to leave you like
that uh well he uh well he absolutely
dotted up here in an office last year
beating a 90 odd rated horse who was
sent off odds on he won by about four
length over seven furlongs he then went
to ask Scot in the brania uh on Fast
ground uh at 66 to1 got beat by three
really good horses at a track that
doesn’t suit Front Runners first pass
the post in soft ground beating the
gatekeeper he ran an absolute Blinder in
the wrong part of the track at the
cambrid he then bolted up in soft ground
at Goodwood then he came back at
Doncaster uh and six horses beat him
they all came from the back and he was
still going and going and going he beat
the other Front Runners by about 10 lens
the calls are in fantastic form he’s
drawn all right in eight he’s got a good
claimer on him he’s a point and shoot
job this track suit his tactics even
better as well Bosch there you
go now let’s let’s see if get swamped
swamped and finish seventh there you go
uh I both tipped and backed him for the
Lincoln um so yeah I can I can certainly
see the case for him uh there was one
that I liked who wasn’t much bigger
price earlier in a week or I just
thought in terms of handicapping if if
Roger teal can sort of turn him around
dancing magic must have a right chance
was he was third in the Craven first
time up last year uh so a CLE of hor is
rated 110 112 now he was fourth in a in
a Futurity to AUST rhen on his final St
of two now he hasn’t done much since
obviously although he wasn’t beaten that
far beyond yo in the uh uh in the
Hampton Court Stakes at Royal aska but
he has dropped to a mark of 96 and been
gelded uh and I just thought he’s just
massively interesting back on that you
know he’ll nearly win this if he repeats
that formed from first time out last
season so uh that was the one I lik the
most okay thank you Paul Keeley Tom
seagull what about you I get all your
Thunderball arguments uh Ross I thought
Goodwin Sun must have a chance for
William haggis after he won the big
handicap there today but the two I went
for which aren’t on that page well they
just are they’re just sneaking in at the
bottom toer and metal Merchant were the
two I like metal Merchant has just run
so many good races last year in the best
three-year-old handicaps when he won at
Ascot he beat a horse called Jeff Coons
who won the Qatar Derby and it’s now
rated ridiculously highly with really
good horses back behind him went on to
run against Rebels romance and horses
like that and not be disgraced in uh
Maan so that was no disgrace at all the
Jack Shannon horses are going really
well uh lots of good form third in the
tote silver bowl off the similar Mark he
just got loads of good solid form I
think he’s going to better this year
he’s been gilded and the other one was
Ed Walker just because I thought Ed
Walker’s horses were running really well
toada he uh beat the gatekeeper very
easily at New Market on only his fourth
start that’s very solid form uh then ran
twice on very very fast ground which he
wouldn’t have liked I think there’s more
to come from he’s only had six runs I
think uh if he uh with and uh Walker won
the mile handicapped didn’t the new
market hait Alain won that and I thought
interesting that he didn’t run ha Lane
in this race because he says Lane’s very
solid and likes off ground and
everything going for him and chose toada
for this race so they were my two toada
and metal Merchant I have very a lot of
respect for Thunder and Noble order
could be anything at the top for Archie
Watson okay right we’ve talked about
some aers tonight Simon Spring Cup uh
the last race anything to add yeah
listen well done everyone for getting
through 10 races five places we’re
offering on the Spring Cup what a good
race this is Thunderball trained by
Coral RAC Club trainer Paul and Oliver
Cole are trainers and uh so yeah I think
I’ll be hopeful they run they run well
dancing magic Paul Keeley told you
everything about this horse’s chance bar
the fact that he’s also ridden by Coral
Ambassador Jim Crowley uh who has um
given a very similar right up actually
in the coral blog saying he’s been gild
as his last run rogeri does well with
these sort of horses handles any cut cut
in the ground although he’s a maiden
he’s a very good Maiden uh he’s more
than capable of popping up with a big
performance and Landing a contest like
this if things fall right for him so
he’s definitely the one for me so
dancing magic I’ll go with Paul key and
Thunderball actually I think I have a
few quit on thanks to your big case you
see I’m actually listening rather than
tipping I mean it’s it’s it’s
occasionally and it’s happened a couple
of times this week actually it was
pretending was one yesterday where I
went through a big field and thought I
only fancy one or here um so let’s hope
it uh it continues and normally as Tom
will tell you if you get that thought
Tom it’s best to stop there I think and
just not not dig any further don’t
confuse yourself Ross you found one back
here yeah right uh okay well done
everyone uh lovely stuff um again we had
a lot to talk about then and I think
we’ve done it as quickly as humanly
possible uh anyone else might have taken
three hours but we did it an hour and 15
so let’s wrap up with the Naps then
Coral Scottish Grand National Day loads
of flat action at Newbury Tom seagull
what’s the best
bet uh well first of all I’d like to
congratulate Simon on mentioning Coral
4,212 times yeah I think that’s the
world record my now is at Y and its son
in the uh greenham okay lovely stuff uh
what about you poor key I really fancy
deeper blue in the 150 there okay uh you
might have guessed but I’m quite strong
on Thunderball in the uh in the uh the
newb Spring Cup what about you Simon
yeah I yeah flat and jump gave me lots
of options to talk about Carl but the
410 actually at air Young Jack Lee
Westwood and David Armstrong I’m
convinced that they’ve laid this hor out
I think it’ll go really well okay that’s
it thank you thank you ever so much
thanks to everyone watching at home uh
not sure anyone else got strong opinion
to wrap it up uh we’ll be back next week
of course um to wrap up the jump season
in its entirety at Sandown you know this
punches town but what’s that only six
days of Top Class racing uh so join Jo
us for that enjoy the weekend especially
you poor key uh and uh we’ll uh we’ll
see you on the other side goodbye

I think that Cheltenham should go back to three days, make another festival weekend for mares
Is it worth getting Paul’s thoughts eg not getting anything back A CHANCER
Did Simon leave his rollers in too long.
