Basket straight ahead is 200′ away exactly. There’s a slight tail breeze. I’m working on driving putters all morning, trying to get them 30′ past the pin. I’ve been really focusing on uncoiling my core muscles while doing a slow walkup with an x-step, which I worked back into the practice regimen about 10 days ago. I can “feel” my torso uncoiling, and this was not the case even last year. I was a “strong arm” thrower all my life. This is the distance I used to throw mids! I realize I need to open my hips more so I can uncoil more if I want even more power and that’s coming soon, but I’m happy with my progress so far.
First clip, an ace run with an opto mercy. Four inches higher, and it would’ve been in.
Second clip, my son (almost age 11) demonstrates his outstanding roller. This is his 143g DX Stingray. He had it go straight at the pin and stop halfway up the hill behind the basket the last time he threw it before we set up the tripod and you can see he’s a little disappointed he didn’t park it for the camera. Ha! He ended up about 40′ right and 10 or 15′ deep.
Third clip, he throws a line drive with his 150g Gold Line Jade, about 10′ left and exactly pin high. I was impressed that he got it there without flexing it.
Yep, he’s way more athletic than me. What you see is essentially self-taught too. I haven’t done a bunch of drills or anything with him. He just picked this up on his own. He’ll be kicking my rear end in about four years, I reckon. Better get him a PDGA number pretty soon!
