In this video, we put the PXG Sugar Daddy wedge to the test to see if I should replace my Vokey wedges. Which one will reign supreme on the golf course. Watch to find out if the PXG wedge lives up to its hype and if it can dethrone the beloved Vokey wedge.

so last month I got an email from pxg
and apparently Bob Parsons saw my video
from last summer when I did the Gen 6
driver Challenge and invited me to stay
out at Scottdale National his private
golf course to be fitted for not only
the Black Ops line that just came out
but also a new set of wedges and man I
am just like you guys and this never
happens so of course I eagerly accept it
and honestly this is one of the most
incredible experiences of my life not
only did I get professionally fitted for
the new Black Ops line but I also got
fitted for new wedges as well I also got
to interview Mr Parsons and hang out
with some of my favorite YouTubers
including Mr short game Country Club
adjacent and my roommates Ian and Mikey
from Club Champion now before this I’ve
never tried pxu wedges I’ve always used
Titus or ping and today’s video we’re
going to be heading out to Scottdale
National to check out the pxg wedge line
to see if these really are the best
wedges of the year so let’s do this so
I’d like to see you just hit a couple of
shots with this so this is our this
would be the 56 de version of the sugar
daddy this is the BP grind so this grind
is a little bit straighter it doesn’t
have as much of that Crescent shaped
heel and toe relief so this one will be
little bit little bit more initial
bounce but what I find is more important
than the bounce is going to be the shape
and this and the grind on the sole right
so just because a Bounce has lower or
just because a wedge has lower bounce
doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s going
to work better in firmer conditions
because you have to take into account
the shape of the sole so I’d like to
watch at a couple with this so we can
see what the turf interaction looks like
and then I’ll put the SE grind which has
lower bounce and more radius to the sole
and we’ll see what that Turf interaction
looks
like bad there we’ll hit maybe three or
four total with this
one how’s the RPM on that uh the average
of the first two
10,122
dang here we
go so the difference as you can see here
and we’ll we’ll have you take both of
these over but you’ll notice the
difference here yeah there’s 3° less
bounce on this but I think the more
important aspect of this is how much
more shave there is on a SE grind wedge
so we we take more material away here
and here to allow us to manipulate the
face a little bit more okay and when you
notice the high point of the bounce on
the BP grind it’s going to be a little
bit further back on the sole here it’s
positioned a little bit closer to the
center of the wedge line okay so that’s
why there’s it’s it would be a it
wouldn’t be a great idea to just assume
automatically that you need the lower
bounds because you play in firmer
conditions because the shape of the sole
will dictate what you’re going to be
able to do with
it
how that
look pick that one
nicely how’ that feel a little different
I mean it feels good
yep same thing
picked maybe a Groove thin
yeah and holds line really well good
launch your assumption with a with a
lower bounce wedge the assumption is
that the Leading Edge is going to be
lower and so you’re going to dig into
the ground the reason why we’d never use
absolutes when we fit is because that
human element comes into play so I gave
you a higher bounce wedge that you had
really good Turf interaction with I
lower the Bounce by 3° and now the turf
interaction isn’t as good we don’t get
as good an energy transfer we don’t
generate as much spin so if I look at
the two best shots with the BP grind our
average spin rate 10,100 RPMs with 84
mph of ball speed we’re flying the ball
in the air 102 yards okay which is going
to be a really really nice that’ll be a
perfect 100 yard club for that that 56
Dee wedge as we get into the SE grind we
see virtually the same swing speed but
we see a slight drop in ball speed a
slight drop in spin the same Peak height
little bit less distance right again I
wouldn’t be too worried about the
distance because it’s within a few yards
I would be much more worried about the
turf interaction because I want that
Turf uh or I want that strike to be
consistent and to be solid right so I
would go for you I would go with the BP
grind yeah for sure yeah so we’ll do a
we’ll do a BP grind in the 52 and the 56
and then we’re going to get you a
matching gap wedge to your iron set so
that your wedges are spaced properly to
give you those 10 15 yard gaps between
each one of these wedges honestly I’m
Blown Away with pxg wedges and after
seeing the number numbers during my
fitting it’s clear that these wedges not
only meet expectations but they set them
so if you’re on the fence and wondering
if pxg wedges are worth the investment I
would highly recommend just going to pxg
and getting fitted for them guys I
really hope you enjoyed this one if you
can do me a favor can you like and
comment down below what you think of
PG’s wedges and if you can be sure to
subscribe to the channel cuz I’m always
giving away the golf gar review here on
the show only to you but if you guys
want to see what we thought of the
peachy Black Ops driver then check out
this video right here and I’ll see you
on the course

Bro this is epic well deserved
In your opinion how do they compare to Ping wedges? I am using the Glide 4.0 especially how do the grinds compare to Ping?
Yes they most certainly are better than Vokey in terms of feel and spin. I game these now coming from Vokey and they are worth every penny. They feel 100 times better than Vokey and for me spin more. Yes, Vokey and other wedge manufacturers offer more grind options but to be honest the average golfer doesn’t need it. These grinds that PXG manufacturers are perfect in ALL course conditions. I typically play in the northeast and then grind options on my previous Vokeys were fine here, but when I went down to Florida, they were a complete disaster and what was I supposed to do? What people need to understand, when all these pros play Vokey, besides getting paid to play them, all of the pros have access to the tour truck and after a couple of practice rounds, the Vokey wedge guys are grinding down their wedges to fit the needs of the course during that week. We don’t have that luxury at least I don’t. Good video
