One week after the Masters, the PGA TOUR heads to South Carolina for the RBC Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links. This is the fifth of eight Signature Events in the season. Scottie Scheffler returns to the field this week, despite being fresh off a victory at the Masters. The world No. 1 has not shot an over-par round all season and has three victories (and one runner-up) so far in 2024. He made his debut at Harbour Town last year and finished T11. Matt Fitzpatrick looks to become the first golfer to go back-to-back at the RBC Heritage since Boo Weekley in 2007-08. Fitzpatrick, a playoff victor last year, has two top-10 finishes this season. He has just one missed cut at Harbour Town over the last six years. Ludvig Åberg will also be in South Carolina this week after his impressive second place finish in his Masters debut. He has four top-10s (including two runner-up results) so far this season and is knocking on the door for a victory. Others to look out for this week are Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Hideki Matsuyama and Viktor Hovland.

and a good start for oberg as
well yeah just no squatting we’re
talking about tall guys like a like a
Ernie El’s had a lot more Bend this two
iron that from 272
that any good 272 y to that shot wow
Arrow
strike shouldn’t be much in it just move
a little bit to his
left both men go from one under to three
under a pair of Eagles at five for mooy
and oberg opening at this part three
between those
trees that’s seven iron from 189
he’s
posing oh that’s why what a
shot
over Frank I just love that ball the
setup looks kind of awkward with that
little rehearsal and then he steps in it
looks like AI built that
swing it’s playing straight down wind
right now just 3:15 to the
front I think if you get in that front
GRE side bunker that’s a really good
lead earlier Justin Thomas 349 that was
the longest drive of the day and oberg
takes it deep and just past the flag
stick just hammered it through the break
a little more work left than he wanted
just over three feet yeah no
problem play the hole aggressively get
rewarded ludig moves to four underpar
little huning breeze off the
right well imagine that another one down
the
middle it’s just so good
Lisa he might as well just walk it out
there about 3:30 in the center of every
Fairway that from 251 launched way up in
the air on a really aggressive line
coming over some huge Pines there and
that is just a great Le that is so
makeable from right
there anything about 3 ft past the hole
can easily run down to a lower
level it’s going to make really well
judged yeah it’s going to make for an
easy birdie there for him oh just
been a machine today shouldn’t be a
problem just been a really impressive
round of golf today got one bogey at 11
when he hit his eight iron left in the
bunker but other than that it’s been
pretty Flawless but oer is going to be
first 143 out of this right hand rough
got to miss long
here he did indeed not that
long I know he actually has to scramble
for a par here guys this is kind of
[Applause]
weird but pretty straightforward he’s
got this one out to the right quite a
bit that was not his best
ah read a beautiful some s avoids his
second
Bogey and ludig has two holes remaining
in round one good read
Joe that is Tracer by trackman following
his
ball that’s a smart shot there Kurt want
no part of missing left here deep bunker
got a lot of release on that too as high
as he hits it these grain will Contin to
firm up as we go along this
week just not a lot of break in these
greens going to move to his left if
anything oh how about it yes
sir well that was only a 6% chance to
make that putt right there but he poured
it right in the middle with a plenty of
speed another look
that’s surprising War hit wge he’s every
bit as
long didn’t go right at it he did go
right at it I mean power wise just a
smooth nine
out there’s ludvig oberg putting for
birdie I didn’t quite get it there Frank
still a pretty impressive round after
last week that’s for sure
Co all right the future is now for L big
oberg just a fantastic first round here
at the RBC Heritage coming off that
runner up finish last week at
Augusta seemed like the game traveled
from Augusta uh pretty well to um to
Hilton Head what was what was working
best for you out there today uh yeah I
mean I think T Greener was really good
obviously um it’s it’s a it makes it a
lot easier if you’re get off the tea
here on this golf course because you
kind of avoid the trees and all the
angle so did that very well today and
then then you can be a little bit more
aggressive into the greens but still
can’t really Force anything so felt like
we did that very well today and and
hopefully we’ll be able to keep that up
rest of the week you feel like you’re
still kind of learning the golf course a
little bit today uh since see how this
is your first trip here I think so yeah
I mean anytime he gets a new golf course
obviously I trust my caddy Joe a lot uh
he’s been around here quite a bunch so
um he’s got all the nuggets and and all
the angles we’re trying to work so so um
but I think the more time you spend on
the golf course the easier it gets you
get more comfortable with lines and such
so hopefully uh you know I’ll keep
learning tomorrow and and still play
good golf can you take us through the I
think it was a two iron that you hit on
the on the par five that set up the
eagle there MH uh yeah it was it was
funny because it was it was a really it
was actually a perfect shot like it set
up perfectly for that um for that club
and that number and and it was it was
just the way that we wanted to play We
banked right in um on the green a couple
of Paces on and released to the back so
it was it was one of them you just try
to get it somewhere up there close to
try to make a four um sometimes you hit
a good shot and gets close and and
luckily I will in the putt uh we saw
Gordon Sergeant today say he’s going to
stay for his senior year just as someone
who stayed all four years and took
advantage of the U System just wondering
what you kind of gained specifically in
that final year that helped you once you
transitioned uh yeah I mean I think
Gordon uh he’s a tremendous golf player
we’ve played a lot together and I think
he’s got some good people around him
making good decisions so um but yeah for
me in my case I think uh a fourth year
at Tech really helped me um it helped me
keep developing keep getting better um
and keep maturing as a player and as a
person uh it is a little bit different
playing Tour golf uh than it is in
college but I’m sure he’ll be he’ll be
ready whenever his time comes were you
able to kind of um kind of refresh
yourself a little bit over the last few
days uh after Augustin uh a little bit I
mean I’m So Into into like my my focus
shifted right when I got here um we’re
trying to make sure that last week was
last week and this week is this week um
but yeah obviously last week is is still
you know something that I look back on
with a with a smile and and um but yeah
my focus is here this week and and
hopefully we’ll be able to keep up good
golf you you a little tired still from
it or you are you kind of gotten some
rest uh I like to think that I’m I like
to think that I’m Jo I’m young and I’ll
be able to handle it but uh yes I I’ll
think I’ll crash for a few days next
week when I’m not playing but uh I’m
looking forward to the rest of the week

  1. Could have been really low if his putting was on. Seemed like he still was adjusted to Augusta’s faster breaks.

  2. Last week Geoff O said it! I'm a believer! This kid is pretty good! Sorry if Jeff is spelled wrong! Who the f names his kid Geif, Geoff, Ir Goef? It's J E F! Period

  3. Aberg is the best golfer in the world right now and is better than Tiger. His swing is incredible, overall persona, and his approach to to handling bad shots is unbelievable. He's the whole package, and has the best swing I have ever seen. Finally, He's a quick player that doesn't ever look uncomfortable. He's going to be the king of golf!
