Alexa Pano Represents the Patriots while Golfing at Augusta National | Off the Field

Alexa Pano, the first pro golfer to be sponsored by the New England Patriots, explains her passion for golf and the relationship she has with her father. She talks about the awards she has won and her dream of playing at Augusta National, the Home of the Masters tournament.

this trophy here is the very first
trophy I’ve ever won it was a third
place trophy but I took it to bed with
me every night and then right next to it
is my first ever professional WIS that’s
kind of special there’s a lot of
different Drive Chip pot austa
memorabilia
everywhere my dad did a really good job
organizing this whole thing he’s really
good at deciding what to keep and makes
this kind of a really cool memorabilia
area she knew about Augusta National
when she was five and six years
old there’s a few things you didn’t mess
with in our house and one when the
Masters was on you did not touch that
television you did not turn the volume
down one of the things I love about my
dad is that he always instilled in me
that like you can do anything anyone
else can do think any of your
competitors are up this early it was
just always a dream M the Masters was
like the peak of golf and I was like
well why can’t girls be there I want to
be the first woman to play a tournament
at austa because girls are just as good
as
boys my first time going there just kind
of stepping on the grounds that young
and seeing this place that feels like
Disneyland but golf it was very
overwhelming but still magical at the
same time Drive Chip and Putt
the environment was unlike
anything that she had ever been in and I
had ever been in the aelas the beauty of
that facility is off the charts there’s
no place like that in the world Drive
Chip pot really helped my confidence
being on that big of a stage and being
able to perform and win there just kind
of shows you like okay I can do
this real really need a pet talk
nope my dad and I just have such good
banter and that’s one of the reasons I
love having him on my bag and having him
travel with me is because he finds the
same things that I find funny really
gets my humor I’m not saying anything I
don’t want to get myself in trouble
you’re always in trouble anyway and I
think he’s probably really grateful he
doesn’t have a very boring daughter
because we have some very interesting
conversations Club head has to be in
front of hand a lift I’m brutally honest
with her in a way that if a hired caddy
was he might get fired oh it’s actually
going well she always complains cuz I
spill like that pet peeves have
definitely accumulated over the years
when you spend that much time with
someone it’s bound to happen but most of
the time he’s my best friend for a dad
to hear her say that I’m her best friend
okay let’s go means that as a single
father raising her by my myself I’ve
done some things right you know it’s
rewarding I would like to welcome you to
the inaugural Augusta National Women’s
Amateur when I found out that like the
Augusta National Women’s am was going to
be a thing it was like oh I have to be
there I won an event that helped me get
up in the rankings and I kind of knew I
was going to get in oh I was so excited
now driving Alexa Pano as a parent when
you see the enthusiasm and the amount of
work that your child puts in and the
love they have for that sport that’s a
pretty good reward to get that invite
that was the happiest that both of us
had been on a golf course it was like oh
something went wrong but we’re at a
guesta so it’s okay and walking up that
18th hole with him was
incredible she said to me when she
walked off the golf course I’m going to
turn pro now pretty good way to go out
having him caddy there just makes you
really grateful for everything that got
has done for all of us to be able to say
that you grew up through Augusta I’d
like to thank my dad for being a great
teacher in Caddy having all those
memories throughout my childhood it’s
going to be something that I’m really
grateful to look back on but I even now
am grateful for
