there’s a famous story in Taylor Made
that the lads I mean it’s an old story
but it’s been kept quiet for years
Garcia was sent a set of clubs to Spain
um but obviously Sergio’s dad is a good
golfer these sets were sent to Spain one
was sent said with an S400 shaft and one
was sent with an X1 they turn up in
Spain uh the guy who sends him he’s
nothing from Sergio he turns up at the
uh TBC Sor grass was really windy and he
won that year in the wind and he’s
standing there with the set for his dad
and he hasn’t he doesn’t know he has his
dad set he doesn’t know the eyes are
wrong he doesn’t know the shafts are
slex he doesn’t know they’re a different
offset and the guy who sent them looks
at him and goes all good with the eyes
he go yeah brilliant great
wins and then wins the tournament and
obviously they hear all this in the
office and they’re like you have to get
him in his spec and the guy’s like why
what’s the point he’s just one with his
dad’s clubs like why do I need to switch
it right now

  1. It’s a good job the man baby didn’t realise. He would have more than likely reverted to type and spat his dummy out.

  2. Complete bulshit. I bought an S Flex thinking it was stiff but it was senior and everything was open-faced going to the left i'm a Lefty I knew right away something was terribly wrong. Amplify that by 10 with a professional.

  3. S-400 is stout and stable enough for most swings. Sergio just swung according to what he felt. If it was a senior flex or something he would have freaked out.

  4. 😂Firstly, guys, they're not the same. x100 feel heavy compared to a s400. Flex/feel wise, that would be very different.
The loft and lie wise is crazy unless they are similar in height

  5. Don't believe it, Sergios touch is way way way too brilliant..he would notice a degree of too much/less loft on any of his clubs…don't believe this one for a sec..they didn't part ways on good terms thatswhy this story..don't bee fooled

  6. I’ve heard that Rory can tell if someone messes with the tape thickness under his grips and here Sergio played with a completely foreign set and didn’t notice… seems hard to believe

  7. Every pro is gonna be a bit different. Truthfully the best feel players will be sober junkies. Preferably left handed.

I can’t go into the explanation. It’s science.

Some are so accustomed to the tour rigmarole they just may never develop club feel. Or maybe clubs felt different, and Sergio said fuck it.

    My guess is #2.

  8. No way this story is true. Sergio is psycho about his clubs. He makes them regrip every club every week. Tour pros and anybody who has there hands on clubs everyday can feel a lie angle off by 1/2 degree.
