hockey games tomorrow I’ll be wheeling
and dealing someone’s going to be get
back door tappins all day long what’s

going on man uh it’s like it’s one of
the oil men’s uh tournaments you know
all over northern alberon BC so yeah I’m
it’s Brownie and I did one in Grand
Prairie a few years ago I don’t remember
much of it uh I was having a good time
so tonight I I made the choice I would
not be the same shape as I was when I
did with
brownie that’s awesome hey by the way
before we get going on this uh I’ve
noticed both of you posting in various
spots about your hockey camps and you
guys are both part of very successful
very awesome uh camp that you put on and
I just wanted to check in how’s it going
give you guys a little plug you still
have room how can people get in struds
you first man you’ve been all over
Facebook yeah yeah I love the Facebook I
like a lot of things poking people as
well but uh I I do have my D my d man
camp for the spring is in not this
weekend but next weekend it’s it’s
there’s still just a few spots left but
it’s uh U1 u18 girls and boys uh two-day
camp and we’ll work on you know some of
the fins a game I have own in the summer
and it’s all on Jason str.com
so I can answer questions there perfect
perfect brownie what do you got going on
buddy uh we have a our spring hockey
school is sold out but we have a summer
one in August it’s XLE ex c l hockey
camp in St Albert it’s five days long we
still are taking registrations for that
and then in May I think it’s our n
annual street hockey tournament in St
Albert it’s called road rage so if you
find Road r street hockey it’ll come up
I think last year we had 110 teams seven
kids per team we have rinks set up and
there’s food food trucks and it’s a full
weekend it’s the final weekend of May

that’s awesome good stuff well wanted to

both excellent uh hockey camps and uh
yeah for people that have the time uh be

gentlemen we got a hockey game to break
down let’s do it courtesy Mr Dirk the

mr.com okay uh without Conor McDavid the
orders come out and boy they laid down a
really rock solid effort struds I’m just
going to lay it out there for you what
did you like best about what you saw
from Edmonton
tonight I don’t think my review of the
game is gonna be quite the same as you
guys uh and I’m I’m gonna start on the
other way I’m going to say uh Aiden Hill
looked like a guy who hasn’t played a
consistent amount of hockey this year
and then they were missing Petra Angelo
Mark Stone and Chandler Stevenson three
of their probably most maybe five or six
most important players so I the outcome
was great the olders played well but the
team they played against guys I I’m not
I I’m not going to overvalue this
win that’s a good point that’s a good
point

am Str I agree that was an a Vegas team
that was missing five regulars five very
good players out of their life so almost
a third of their team wasn’t playing
tonight and you’re right that I was
shocked that aen hill was playing and he
hasn’t played in six weeks and it looked
and it showed having said all of that
the ERS cannot control who they play
against and I thought the ERS came out
and played very disciplined hockey the
one thing that Vegas had tonight they
had the eel line playing the eel line
absolutely dominated the Oilers in the
playoffs last year that is why the
Oilers couldn’t beat Vegas because eel’s
line was too good they limited what
eel’s line did tonight they were
disciplined didn’t take any penalties to
give the golden knights a power play so
this this was not the golden Knight team
that you would would see in the playoffs
but this was the Edmonton Oilers playing
the way they need to play in the
playoffs so I got to give credit to the
olders top to bottom they played a very
uh professional and disciplined hockey
game and uh the the outcome and the
score was indicative I thought of the
play chaos never do says struds is just
a turbo
contrarian these days you are struds you
you each of the last few wins you’ve
come out with a hard right cross to
change the perspective to change the
thought process on a win so I mean I
will remind you lovingly and
respectfully that the orders tonight
were without a guy named Conor
McDavid I mean what about the quality of
the play that the Oilers put forward yep
so that when last Wednesday they lost to
Dallas I was the one that was you know
talking about how great great of an
outcome this would be uh Colorado I was
negative because not negative but just I
was trying to bring people down because
Colorado had no energy Satur was Calgary
and I I’m not really going to go too
much into that one but again here we are
on another what I think it’s Wednesday
today and you know Vegas is losing
missing some key pieces there’s no doubt
that there’s no one in the league I
think that is more Irreplaceable than 97
I think that’s fair um and I thought the
team played well behind him and I liked
all four lines going so if I have to say
I loved how four lines were buzzing
they’re all going but you know to to if
an older fan is going to bed tonight
thinking oh my God we’re where’re going
to beat Vegas for sure we pounded him
tonight that team will not be the same
because I don’t know what Stone’s going
to be I he may not be back uh you know
who knows when he’ll be back but chander
Stevens is a really good player for them
pet Cho is a really really good
defenseman for them so that’s I at least
a second line Center and you’re when
you’re top two dmen that’s a lot to miss
out so let’s say for the orders they
they have they had McDavid out but let’s
say they take out I guess that’d have to
be M Leon and then you take out who
nurse and then see how it looks for the
odor so it’s you got to be careful when
you’re valuing a win this late in the
season with this many injuries and Aiden
Hill like Aiden Hill looked at times I
thought he had roller skates on I I
wonder if they sharpened them you’re uh
you’re getting beat up a little here on
the YouTube stream here stry and I know
this will be devastating to Nathan uh
who’s saying what here Mike Smith says
stry that’s two consecutive games you’ve
told the fans to downplay the wins yeah
boo so he just gives you a hard boo Chad
Jenkins reminds you Jason you can only
beat the players put in front of you
Fair Point um padin says okay they also
picked up three good pretty good players
who all played tonight along with the
fact McDavid wasn’t in the lineup this
was a good
win uh what else struds is the villain
of this Trio says mtj disorder and Mike
Smith says Jason strudwick is just a
Donnie Downer what say you brownie are
the people being too hard on struds or
is struds kind of you know a little
aggressive here with his Negative Nancy
stuff well again this this is not the
vaguest team you’ll see in the playoffs
no it’s not but the Oilers I thought
played a very solid game um Vegas again
Vegas is missing Five Guys uh they’re
missing carrier and and Nicholas W as
well both good hockey players this is
they’re not near as good and Aiden Hill
will we saw what Aiden Hill’s capable of
doing but I I still think the olders
played well they came out I thought the
third line was excellent I thought their
fourth line created um they limited Jack
eel and and Jonathan Marca show they
played discipline no stupid penalties so
yes this was not the Vegas golden
knights from the playoffs last year and
probably not even close to them but the
Oilers can only do what they can do with
the lineup they’re playing against and I
thought they were good I thought the
Oilers played a very Sound Hockey game
and to me I don’t even think you have to
worry about the Vegas gold Knights I
think the gold Knights will be playing
Dallas in the first round yeah I think
the Oilers right now and I think I
honestly think now the ERS are going to
be playing Nashville because the
Vancouver Canucks last I looked are
losing 3-1 to Arizona so now Edmonton
doesn’t even have to win every game to
beat Vancouver in the standing so um
this is this was to me a solid victory
tonight and also it was a showcase for
some players looking for little extra
ice time come playoff time and those
players all showed up when you know that
your guy that plays 24 minutes a night
is out of the lineup you’re sad but you
also got a little bit of excitement
because you know you’re getting more ice
time than you normally
do okay I’m gonna tell you what I liked
about the game struds and then you can
[ __ ] on it
um I like the fact that the Edmonton
wiers looked like an extremely fast team
but not just offensively they were a
fast team in both directions tonight I
thought they did an excellent job
tonight of backtracking thought Corey
Perry was excellent in that regard
tonight multiple times where he was back
how about Leon dry Sidle turns a puck
over off the rush he got back like his
life depended on it multiple back checks
from Leon dry Sidle I thought the orders
played fast and injecting 55 helps that
they look Speedy to me struts they did
yeah and there’s no doubt about it like
I so let’s let’s now talk about what
they did really well and then maybe I
won’t reflect so much on what a a thin
lineup of the Vegas was but there was a
lot of good things obviously and and and
the speed is definitely one um I I like
the the pressure they put on the Vegas
deman that is something that um I
thought Vegas did really well against
orders last year in the playoffs and
they want to be able to do that to other
teams you want to be a to make those
dmen make plays before they’re ready or
able to make plays so I think that was
something did really noticed and I and I
I although wasn’t a dman uh the way that
Aiden Hill came back and when when
Holloway scored his goal I don’t think
that Aiden Hill was expecting an oor
coming in that fast like he he he looked
out of sorts but all a sudden he just
leaves the puck and comes out in front
slowly and all says thank you and just
wraps it around so I think again getting
on those guys before they’re they think
they need to are able to make a play
whether it’s a goalie or D that is
something I’m really G to look for in
the last uh what do we got here shoger
10 days yeah give or take brownie your
thoughts kind of overall did they look
faster to you they look faster to
mey it’s funny it’s you think well they
put Dylan Hollow in well yeah they’re
gonna be faster but you took Conor
McDavid out so no you’re not faster uh I
just I just think that this is a good
Hockey Club and I know that there’s a
lot of talk not playing and he’s the
best in the world that hurts your team
but the Oilers are a good team with or
without karmic David the Oilers could go
on a run in the playoffs without Conor
McDavid they are that deep now now they
uh you do not want to play a a lot of
games without 97 but they’re capable of
winning so I I like the injection of
hallway with McLoud and Perry I think
you’ve got two guys with speed to burn
with a man that has he does his feet
don’t move as fast but his brain does he
thinks the game very well and I thought
that third line looked excellent in this
hockey game we are going to talk at
length about Dylan Holloway what he
showed tonight what it potentially means
what could he be capable of between now
and the end of the season we’re going to
dig into that a little deeper in our
second segment in
takeaways uh because he definitely
entered the chat here in a number of
different ways so the Dylan Holloway

how much faster you look as a team um

seems easier and it looks faster um from
the outside so I just thought we were a

today Matias EOL continues to crush it
struds his game is next level I talked
to him earlier today before the game
Figures it’s the best hockey he’s played
in you know a few years for sure that
bomb of his like what he just absolutely
Uncorked that one I don’t know man like
this this is like Matias eolm is just
going lights out here at the perfect
time yeah he is and I think for that
goal let’s give credit to Ryan McLoud
who uh zipped that puck right through
the the the the kind of the that Golden
Road perfectly on the tape and then and
then he loves that Slap Shot it actually
reminds me of a Rob Brown Slap Shot I
see on the ice on out there and just
bombs it right over the shoulder it was
a great great shot but yeah he’s he is
I’m surprised you didn’t say that Hill
looked like crap on it and anybody could
have put that in I’m surprised stry that
you’re actually doing out some love here
I’ve already made my Aiden Hill
statement and I think it’s still fair
but I I I I just think that what what
what I didn’t expect from eckholm uh I I
expect him to be very good defensively
and to kind of be the nice compliment to
Bard to keep him out of trouble I didn’t
expect him to be able to add this level
of offense I think this was his 11th
goal in a career year um for him and so
he’s he’s doing a both ends of the ice
which I think is just incredible I mean
between the two of those guys they got
to have what has buard got has he got 15
goals is he what is he at around that uh
yeah I can check it here quick but let’s
say they’re between 20 30 goals as a
partnership like that’s that’s pretty
damn good for uh for 2D
men brownie you know what when when they
when they traded for eckol I when we
watched Nashville EOL would transport
the puck up the ice and he would make
plays now again we talked about before
he played behind Roman Yosi who’s uh top
three in the world and he didn’t have to
shine all the time at home because he
had Yosi that that was his
responsibility but I think they’ve kind
of taken the handcuffs off a little bit
here the Oilers play a little more
uptempo obviously than Nashville does
and so I I was I expected atome to be
great defensively I expect him to be
good offensively what I didn’t what I’m
surprised by is the shot I mean you you
look well vkin got a favorite place dry
Saddles got a a favorite play Newen
Hopkins always goes low blocker goal
scorers have a place that they like to
go at it’s their go-to you don’t usually
see a defenseman that has a go-to shot
and EOL does you’re you’re when he gets
it and he’s got time it’s going to be a
slap shot it’s going top glove every
time and he hits it with consistency and
there’s there’s not a goalie in the
league that’s G to stop that I I mean
that’s a bomb coming from 25 feet out
he’s going if if he hits his spot it’s
going in the net so I think to me that’s
just the biggest surprise for me not
that the fact that he can create
offensive plays or he makes the nice
passes but the fact that he’s got a a
spot that he knows if he’s got time he’s
going to pick it and he’s going to hit
it and that’s what sets him above and I
think all the players that the Oilers
have he might be the most missed if he’s
out of the lineup Conor’s the best in
the world but you’ve got the second best
in the world in the lineup if he’s
missing a game it’s a bigger drop off
from eckholm to the next defenseman I
believe on the Edmonton Oilers it would
be I mean you’re you’re taking away a
guy that’s plus 45 on the season or
whatever out of your lineup if he’s not
in there I think that the Oilers that’s
a player that they cannot afford missing
games in the playoffs we got a to name
that thing like the the E bomb or
the how about the E blast e blast oh
that’s not
bad yeah the B bomb and the X
blast that’s pretty good but it’s pretty
crazy I just looked it up so between the
two of them they have 28 goals yeah 17
for buard you’re ask that’s crazy like
that’s that I mean that’s that’s really
good like that’s first that’s well over
first pairing like that’s pretty
impressive e Hammer no no we’re not
going to do that obisk said call it

we got to skip the hammer
idea I think there’s the flag the not to

and under 20 minutes except for 2D man
they were like 20 minutes and 30 seconds
I recognized the game I got a little out
of hand there but I like that everyone
was crunched in amount that time so that
means the guys at the bottom were
getting extra ice time and the guys at
the top came down a bit but not that it
was an off night and a rest night but no
one got overtaxed and that is something
I think you want to look for as you go
through these these last two games get
everyone playing who can play and then
make sure you don’t over tax the guys so
for that I give Chris noblock the
Relentless player I believe that’s the
first one in history a coach has got it
definitely is brownie what say you to
that I’m not sure that’s really what
Relentless is um is not happy right now
no I think the third line having three
goals tonight would might be relentless

and months about the role I feel he
potentially could play and I’m not gonna
overdo it based on one game tonight but
I thought it was a good performance and
I wonder what it potentially opens the
door towards so we’re going to dive into

into the lineup tonight and you know the
first thing he did was he went out and
threw a really good body check and I
imagine you know after this time he
spent in theer ameran Hockey League he
gets back into the lineup and to get
something done like that right away uh
struds uh I thought it was a good
welcome back to the National Hockey
League I like the intention that he
started the game with overall what what
did you think man what I liked about and
something he has to really kind of
continue to work on is uh and for
playoff hockey is holding the puck in
the offensive zone and making plays down
there so we know he can skate fast and
get to the neutral zone and and those
are just a great skill to have but in
the playoffs I feel like the neutral
zone game kind of goes away not scoring
a ton off the rush so you got to be able
to create hold on the puck and kind of
to use an Antiquated term cycle the puck
down low use your teammates support each
other get it up to the D try to get
shots through from the point and crash
the net it’s not the sexiest but that’s
how you know you kind of have success in
the playoffs so I thought today I saw
signs that he has been working on that
and he’s kind of improving that area
brownie I thought he was very good uh um
I I think that he had an advantage
playing tonight as opposed to earlier in
the year when he had his looks because
he he was playing averaging what seven
eight minutes a night or he’d coming out
of the Press Box you’re never really in
the swing of things he just came up from
the miners where he’s playing 20 25
minutes a night he was ready it was he
jumped in there and he like he had legs
he felt confident with the puck on his
stick I so and it showed and it showed
in his game before the game I when we
were talking about hallway I said
hallway right now if the playoff star is
on the outside looking in because the
Oilers have four guys they rotate on the
fourth line tonight Derrik Ryan was out
he’s a penalty killer the other guys on
the fourth line are all penalty Killers
if Holloway comes in and you pull out a
Yanmar or a brown or a Carrick now
you’re pulling two penalty Killers out I
don’t know and hallay doesn’t penalty
kill he doesn’t play on your power play
so you’re going to have a hard time
finding a spot for him in the playoffs
having said all of that the way he
played tonight he’s going to have to
make or allow the coaching staff to make
some tough decisions but the hallay what
his one big strike against him right now
is he doesn’t penalty kill in the whole
fourth line all four of those guys do by
the way he was doing some penalty
killing in the American Hockey League
was playing Center as well and M mat
reminding us he just wrote in a hattick
game in theer American Hockey League he
came in definitely feeling it
confidence-wise okay so the conversation
about what does it mean moving forward
let’s have that but first zubie we have
the do we have the question I asked
Chris noblock tonight about um you
grabbed a noblock clip right on hallway
yeah that’s right okay yeah let’s hear
from the head coach you know he played a
really good game he played you know what
we expected we you know know that what
he’s about and we’ve never been upset
with him we just felt uh
um we got so many good players and he
can continue playing and developing his
game and I think down in Bakersfield
he’s worked really hard and added some
elements to his game you know the
confidence of scoring goals and um yeah
absolutely we’re very open to the fact
that um they could be back together on
Friday what do your call about your
conversation or messaging with him when
he went down and you know he talked
about he definitely sees the value in
having played the the sheer amount of
minutes that he’s played down there yeah
I think it was good I think it was it’s
not always easy sending a player down in
the American League uh they’re always
disappointed
and and you know there’s a case that he
could stay here and play continually and
um but you know I think a couple things
one him going down and playing the
amount of Ms he did at Center um helped
him touch the puck more um more
defensively respons responsible um and
also being relied on in a lot more
situations and um you know conversation
was just go down and play with your Edge
and work on the offensive part of it a
lot of Puck protection and even when he
was down in Bakersfield I still reached
out to him talked to him and checked him
because I was getting reports on how he
was playing and um just encouraging him
to keep that up so this is my submission
to you I’m not Dylan Holloway is going
to be in the lineup game one of the
playoffs that’s not what I’m saying here
what I’m saying is when you put a line
like that together strads and they have
a night like they had tonight I think
you have no choice but to give them
another look you got to go back to that
you’re still at a point in your season
where it’s not like their lines are just
locked in and everybody knows what they
are and you couldn’t possibly mess with
the amazing chemistry they’ve had in
their top nine that’s not the case at

back in who are you pulling out of your
lineup for hallay that that’s the thing
now I think Holloway will play Friday
because I think well if McDavid he may
take another day off if he does it’s
easy hallay stays in but if if McD comes
back in the lineup who do you pull out
you the fourth line all penalty kill so
you’re not taking one of those guys out
of the lineup so now well even just go
just simplify Brown and go the who’s the
top nine who are the top nine if if like
so we don’t have to worry about the
fourth fine like if Holloway is the
third line left Winger who’s
out well he’s not he’s not gonna be the
third line left Winger that’s the thing
because that’s where Kane’s going to
play Kane will be the third line left
Winger right so that bumps H the way
down now to the fourth line right so I
don’t think that Line’s a possibility I
guess the point I’m making I don’t think
that Line’s a possibility shocker at
least not when healthy okay but remember
the other thing I’ve been saying is that
Evander Kane needs to get into the top
six on this team for this team to go
deep into the playoffs he needs to be on
one of the top two he needs to be
playing in a way where they have no
choice but to have him there and that’s
fair so that means it’s either McLoud or
Fogle that go down right so 90 so let me
ask you this and this came in on the
stream a little bit
earlier one of the things with Conor
David not in the lineup and I I I’m not
positive he’s going to play next game
either could see him in that Saturday
game against Vancouver would make the
most sense to me I agree uh so it gives
you an opportunity to check out some
other things and to see some other
things right well we saw 2993 and 18
tonight and I liked it I I thought it
was pretty good I didn’t mind it we’ll
probably end up seeing it again so if
those guys play well together now you’ve
got an opportunity to maybe try
something a little bit different with
McDavid when he gets back maybe that’s

because the dry side of line worked

with Zach Heyman and then that allows

over on the other side the answer would
be anmark that’s the answer to who
potentially comes

out of the top nine that if you got
Holloway in there F oh you oh you’re

depending on how it’s going right

depending on the matchup he and Fogle
can flipflop back and forth between

when’s the last time he played with

think they need to keep him in and keep

not like they have this top six or top

keeps playing well and adds speed and
adds physicality chips in the odd goal
you really going to yank that guy from

he fits I don’t see where he fits in

they had if they trusted him to be in
their lineup right now he’d be playing
here he wouldn’t have been in the minors
they didn’t trust him before when he was

that they this the group that they have
here has put together an incredible run

what this guy that’s been in the minors

take we’re going to put this guy from
the miners and I don’t see that
happening I see Dylan Holloway being
your first option out of the Press Box
if things go sideways or if there’s an
injury but I I think that you go with
the horse to brought you in and this
this group of players that they’ve got
right now have put together an incred
incredible run for Chris noblock how do
you say Yanmar or Carrick or Fogle or
Perry you know what this kid from the
miners he had a really good run in the
miners so we’re gonna play him ahead of
you never trusted him the first 30 games
of the season but now that we’re in the
big game I’m going to start playing them
what about what you said to Dylan
Holloway when you sent him down what
about the message that go down there
work on your game focus on these areas
of your game there’s a space for you
with this team and that’s definitely has
to be the messaging with Dylan Holloway
and then he comes back and he’s clearly
worked on those things and he’s I think
you need to pay attention to what’s
right in front of your nose I don’t
think that any of these fourth line
players done enough what’s that I like
be his part of the team being up here in
the playoffs in the Press Box part of
the team you don’t you just be struds
and I have been sent to the miters and
we’ve been told things that we come up
doesn’t always come to frua the guy on
the fourth line think have done a good
job I think they they’ve been fine I
thought the fourth line as of late has

game the fourth line was I thought might
have been their best

pulling good players out of the lineup
Derrick Ryan doesn’t deserve to be in
the Press Box he played well the games
that Carrick come out were like how can
he be pulled out he he just fought that
guy he scored a goal there’s good
players for the emanas that are sitting
in the Press Box and that’s a good thing
because I have been for the olders for
18 years now and there were a lot of
years where there were bad players in
the lineup because they had no other
players to put in there the oers now
have depth where they have good players
that they can bench and that gives the
oers options if things go sideways team
matchups or injuries the ERS are much
better off than they’ve been in all of
the 18 years that I’ve been here so
brownie you don’t think it matters what
hallay might be able to get done between
now and the end of the regular season
are talking about he saw if he has 10
good days in the
NHL if he has 10 good days as the season
comes to a close in a lineup that’s
looking for you know looking to start
the playoffs well so you guys are saying
it doesn’t matter what Hall does between
now and the end it shouldn’t matter for
game one of the playoffs it would have
it would have to be someone else would
have to
absolutely fail but this is a team that
what’s their record under KN block with
these players that he has yeah does it
not matter that yanar and Ryan and
Carrick and uh Fogle and all these guys
were part of this incredible
turnaround a chance to win the division
huh what if he out plays him between now
and the end of the season he outplayed
about five guys tonight up front so
you’re talking about if you outplay
someone for 10 days out of 180 day
season you got to decide who to put in
game one in your lineup hell yeah I
think that matters hell
yeah I Dyan Holloway yeah no I I I I
just don’t understand his role I asked
you to name me six penalty Killers you
didn’t well you could McDavid and dryad
have both killed penalties not not
that’s ideal you’re not but they’re not
yeah but they’re not putting those guys
at the penalty kill they’ve got a system
set up he knows exact noblock knows what
he wants he’s got Connor and leyon
coming out right after the penalty ends
he’s going to catch the other team that
way he’s got guys that he trusts as his
penalty killers and two of them would
have to sit out if Dylan Holloway plays
Dylan hallway is not going to penalty
kill in the NHL right now you are not
starting his penalty killing career in
game 80 of a for a team that has
aspirations of winning a Stanley Cup
maybe next year Dylan I never said he
should I never said he’d be
killing no but you did say that he
killed penalties in the miners which
means nothing right now for the Oilers
I’m just saying that this team right now
with take Dylan out of it this team
right now before Dylan got called back
up had an incredible turnaround they’ve
been

if they run the table they can win the
division nobody expected that I say that
has more leverage over a guy that had a

thing was just to kind of use use my
body as kind of a shield and um hold on
to puck in the corners you see the value
in I mean when you were here you were
strapping a car and doing your best for
minutes but the value in going there and
playing as much as you did over the
stretch that you did you see the value
that yeah um yeah I think in the long

um just playing an all opportunity

interesting when there’s a player pull
right uh and they they ask players
various questions about you know
different players and uh you know who
both the men’s and the women’s leagues
and different things so there was a
couple answers that really struck me so
I’m gonna kind of take you through it so
they went through if there was a
question asked if there was a situation
where you had have pick one player in
the league to help you win one game who
would it be and uh Conor McDavid not
surprisingly got 48% of that uh number
two was Sydney Crosby at around 12% yeah
number three was Nate McKinnon at
6.5% and what kind of surprised me by
this shoger was that um Austin Matthews
a guy trending towards 70 goals was not
in that top three now the top three guys
are good but I top five yeah it’s it’s
really uh it’s it’s pretty amazing that
the guy who’s going to score 70 isn’t in
the players call The Players I always
trust the players because they they kind
of got a sense of what’s going on there
but I think that would be that would
raise a lot of eyes brows uh when that
poll was released I’m sure today McDavid

anything else stand out to you about
those um about those Five Guys no about

Victor Hedman and Victor Hedman if
you’re not familiar with him he’s a
really tall guy big Dem man for Tampa
Bay really long stick and you know I
think that he gets a lot of talk about
his offensive ability but he is very
good defensively he’s got a really good
stick and he swats that puck away and
not that I would think he’d be the
number one guy but I was so happy that
that was a question first off shoger and
number two I I think that you know
looking at it he is to me the right the
right choice so how about the fact and
again which player is the most difficult
player to face in their own end right so
in the O like in their defensive end
yeah who’s the most difficult Conor
McDavid is second at
99.4% that was a
surprise and I’m not saying he’s not a
good defensive player but I mean think
about the beasts like in front of the
net think about the nasty defenseman out
there think about the the defensive stal
wordss around the league Conor McDavid
is second yeah yeah that that is that
you know he’s got a very quick stick and
I think that he surprises people how you
can close on them so quickly um but if
if I’m Conor McDavid of all the things I
was touted for in this poll that would
probably be the number one thing I’d be
the proudest of because I don’t think
like you said I don’t think anyone
really a casual fan wouldn’t think of
that of 97 which player has the best
style Pastor Knack 15% Willie neander
12% Austin math couple Maple Leafs here
Jack Hughes Patrick Kane in the mix
there and Nikita
kucherov actually I won’t ask you about
that strutz because I think we all know
you know you know I that that one I I
actually I find I don’t find interesting
at all and like who knows what other
players are wearing like how would you
even know like did you have to look on
each other’s Instagram account yeah I
think they do don’t they I don’t know I
maybe I have no see each other at
All-Star games and yeah I just I don’t
know I just don’t really that doesn’t do
anything for me at all not a lot of like
plugs fourth line players in there I
mean those are some pretty high-end guys
right you could have an amazingly
dressed fourth line player but he’s not
at any All-Star games so well but no
one’s taking a picture of the fourth

line guy in his suit where else we going

Philadelphia Flyers so last night really
tough night if you’re a flyers uh they
they get pounded 93 by Canadians uh give
you know quick uh two claps on roof for
slav gets his hattrick uh he’s he seems
to be turning the right direction a big
body and then there was a port today a
report today out that uh you know people
are wondering about tordella and there
was a report today and I want to get
this right basically that torz is not
leaving the bench so he’s not going to
get pushed out and I now I’m a long ways
away from the Sher a long ways away but
I watch try to watch some of those games
it feels like the team has run out of
juice Andor is maybe not hearing the
message from behind them as much and
maybe unfair to torts but the recent uh
results suggest that yeah the I mean
it’s just completely come out from

where they were so full credit and torz
was very much in the Jack Adams
conversation and deserved to be but the

headlines every day for two and a half

Salt Lake City Utah um and then
apparently there was an NHL memo updated
that the Board of Governors as well so

heard the report about the auction that
the Arizona counties want to get
involved in and push back from the
Scottsdale mayor saying that you know
there’s no water tie in or so we don’t
have enough water for that in that area
we don’t want to take that on we don’t
have to supply water I act prefer for
you there and it would just be a hard
note for the May of Scottdale for that
to come there and then later on Frank
follows up uh another tweet that says
sources say Yos players have informed
that something of a verbal agreement is
in place to relocate to Salt Lake City
that’s where the Smith group are are at
but we’ve received push back on that
characterization of talk so listen I I’m
not an Insider but when when when you
see multiple guys weigh in that are
insiders and talk about this idea
there’s there’s probably Something
Brewing up here um the it’s Marty Walsh
has made his statements public about the
nhlpa not wanting you know it’s it’s not
acceptable anymore we know that some of
the players are probably concerned about
the the amount of money that’s being
lost uh because of not having a 20,000
seat Arena it’s been a long time shoger
a long time this franchise been there
they’ve tried and it feels like it’s
been mismanaged pretty much the whole
time it’s been there so I feel badly for
those fans for the people who work for
the team there but it almost feels
inevitable that a relocation would make
some sense uh sooner than later buddy
yeah boy Gary bman has been uh the
Relentless player of the decade trying
to keep this team in Arizona and you
know maybe to his detriment he has just
been a dog on a bone trying to make sure
that he just can’t wrap his head around
not being in a market that size it’s I
think top five or six media markets in
in in the entire United States and he
has just been Relentless in trying to
keep it there but it feels like it’s
just been feta Clon plea for years now
struds like at no point has it felt
truly solid here in the last I don’t
even know how many years man I covered
these Board of Governor it feels like
we’re talking about Arizona every flid a
Governor’s meeting for the last decade
and if it ends up going this way how do
you think that’s going to end up

just because he’s been so insistent on

time when uh Arizona or coyotes they’re
called played right inside of Phoenix

who work for that team and you know
they’re like it’s coming it’s coming and
you know it just doesn’t feel like it’s
coming it’s just you know and we keep
all there was going to be one in Tempe
there’s going to be a building here and
it’s just not happening so if you’re the
league and you’re looking across and you
see the ownership group potential
ownership group that what Smith I think
it’s Ryan Smith there in Salt Lake City
a billionaire with a building with you
know they have their arms outstretched
and and I read one report I don’t know
if this is true or not but they said
that there might be a a sale of 1.2
million or billion billion a bill a
billion would go to the current owner
and then 200 million would be a
relocation fee there would be given back
to the to other teams and I that’s a lot
less than than a uh an expansion fee but
I I I you know I I think maybe there’s
something there so I it just feels like
this has legs again is it gonna happen
or not but I just think it’s I think
it’s time I think they’ve tried and I
don’t know after hearing the mayor that
day shut down that idea of a that that
uh just off a scottd rink I don’t know

be right positive 100% And clearly
significant action has been taken to

options for our forward line sounds like
it yeah yeah they got better players I
mean they they do they they upgraded
they brought in Sam Carrick they brought
in Adam Henrik they got Dylan Holloway
back from the miners right now Derrik
Ryan’s game has picked up struds like
the bottom six right now is looking like
they’re going to be able to put together
a pretty good collection of six players
to back up the top two lines yeah and
then the the next thing is to get them
all to have like an identity a line kind
of some line identities and this what we
do this how we do it um so yeah it’s
it’s there there’s the pieces there you
know do we know exactly how they fit
together I’m not sure we’re there yet uh
but pretty soon run out of time so we’ll
know you know would you uh would you say
struds that consistent speed for
checking prowess and physicality might
contribute towards the bottom six having
an identity would you make maybe suggest
that might be accurate or true it feels
like a leading question and oh it’s so
leading you know I I I I I’ll just yeah
I I understand what you’re saying I I
think Dylan Hall’s on the team next year
and I I I love the idea of what he is
but 10 good days in the NHL you know
it’s kind of tough and usually most
players have a great first game when
they get called back up zuie got the

Jaden bulbuk said no point screwing up
all these lines before playoffs for a
guy from the miners I thought that’s
kind screwing up all these perfectly
formed lines that have been so effective
and consistent why would you want to
mess with the amazing consistency these
four lines have had
struds yeah gota again it’s the first
game against a Vegas team that missing
significant chunks of their lineup I I
agree it’s just one game um on the as it
relates open just a little for
Neil G said is Holloway’s development
more important than winning a cup no God
no I guess yeah that’s obvious but
that’s you don’t have to you can do both
at the same time if he outplays other
players play
them as as it relates specifically to
the Penalty kill Troy said what’s the uh
just a couple different opinions on
either side of it here Troy says what’s
this FAS fascination with pkers for four
to 6 minutes a night good grief um Norm
Camp says says in my opinion playing the
PK can be taught it’s not rocket science
71 or 55 have enough speed to play there
and I saw a comment in one of our uh
promos or something earlier today on
Twitter just someone who said uh in the
playoffs the penalty kill is more
important than the power play um so
there’s a lot to you guys pick and
choose whatever you like from any of
that if some number one it can’t just be
taught in in in a game like there’s
instincts there’s understanding where to
be so it’d be irresponsible put someone
who hasn’t killed regular NHL level into
a penny kill role in the in the in the
in the on the in the playoffs
irresponsible so it’s not happening
don’t dis number number two um yeah I I
I I don’t I wouldn’t say that the pen is
more important than the power play but I
think that they’re both really important
want both want them going and making it
happen
shager yeah I mean I think you should
throw in there to kill penalties I think
there are other players that have
experience killing penalties right right
like I mean we didn’t mention Ryan
McLoud when we were rattling off the
penalty killers there uh you know I
think Fogle has the ability to if he
needs to McDavid and dry Sidle of both
done it and it’s not ideal Conor Brown
uh yeah Conor Brown 100% yeah we we
definitely need to mention him too like
for the speed that he has the
opportunity to add to this lineup if
he’s handling the puck well the play
isn’t dying on his stick he’s good on
the boards in his own end and he’s
creating havoc in the offensive zone
with a really good for check like this
is not a plug they’re bringing up this
is a high pedigree first round draft
pick who might maybe be disc discovering
something here and I think you need to
create a pathway to just see what he can
do with it I’m just beating this dead
horse

self-aware he didn’t have Batman with
him he knew he had to be the leader
tonight did you guys see that in his

yes yeah he was good he was really good
and unless we’re creeping closer I think
his details will keep tightening

Vinnie and kulak have played a higher
percentage of their time on Ice against
Elite competition compared to nurse and
CC do you think that continues going
into the playoffs yeah I saw that one
the other day and it was really
interesting some uh stats pulled out
quality of competition stats I think
it’s interesting I think that they’re
testing different guys they’ve tried to
mix the pairings around a little bit I
think they’re going to rely pretty
heavily on Nurse when playoff time comes
those struds yeah I would agree with
that but it’s nice for those guys to get
those minutes and and and to to see what
it feels like and to do it like you’re
just yeah you’ve got the guys set up but
you’re always trying to improve them and
improve their confidence because it’s
it’s if you can do it in the regular
season you should be able to at least
compete in the in the in the playoffs so
yeah I I saw that too and I I liked it
and that I mean I think noblock actually
referred to it as one of the strongest
pairs if not the strongest third pair in
the league and I would have a hard time
disagreeing with that they’re damn good
and not a bad value at like three and a
half million whatever it
is uh penners pancakes said Vegas really
had no sustained pressure at all tonight
I was I was watching the um the TNT or
whatever I was watching the US feed and
they were talking about that uh quite a
bit and obviously we’ve talked about
what they didn’t have in their lineup
but strs maybe what did you see about
how did the Oilers avoid that for check
tonight what did they do uh well I think
the big thing is they’re moving the puck
quickly you know they just and and you
heard Heyman talk about it we are
connected and so what what that means
it’s a cliche but you’re the guy who has
the pucko has someone to pass it to it
means that you know the dmen are getting
up in the play when there’s an offensive
rush so that you’re connected with the
Fords they can use you but also it’s the
same thing when you’re coming back in
your own end the Fords are hustling back
so now you can make a pass to them and
you’re connected again so that’s what
when you hear guys saying we’re
connected we’re playing together that
that’s what that means that that cliche
explained in
English did did you feel like I almost
felt like the way Heyman said that that
it was like directed at someone but I
did but I wouldn’t begin to guess who
like it or you know or do you think he’s
just saying this is different from other
games like I felt like I I couldn’t put
mying he’s the type to like he’s not the

at somebody or anything like that I
think he’s just honest in his
observations um I like the speed that
they had tonight in their lineup struds

in both directions they were good on the
attack they were good on the back check
I liked the way this team looked foot
speed wise tonight and I know it’s
because um I know it’s because Vegas
iced the worst lineup in the history of
their franchise tonight so we don’t want
to we don’t want to we don’t want to
look too deeply into that they look like
an expansion
