It's clear that Aiyuk is worth way more to the 49ers than whatever pick would come back. Diggs at 19/yr is a great deal, you'd think he'd fetch a better pick but it is what it is
Aiyuk trade value is higher than Diggs current value. Diggs is over four years older than Aiyuk and now in his 30s. Four years ago Diggs netted Minnesota a 1st (Justin Jefferson), 5th, 6th and the next year's 7th round pick. Aiyuk value is closer to the Minnesota/Buffalo trade than the Buffalo/Texans trade. Also, Diggs wore out his welcome in Buffalo and in Minnesota.
After looking at over the cap, we can post cut trent willaims and trade deebo and have 40 million in salary cap. This had to happen
as niner fans, we all think BA is worth a ton. everyone else: maybe a 3rd and a 5th? maybe a 2nd and a 7th? Nobody is taking BA over Diggs except the niners.. MAYBE. Especially if you have to pay BA more. Sure he's younger. Sure Diggs might start doing worse. BA is under contract this season. If BA holds out, the niners have a good WR room still. the leverage is in the 49ers favor.
Aiyuk hasn't cost Niners much for the production he's provided.
If he won't sign for what Niners can pay, let him walk after this year.
The return is not what everyone expected because the fact the cost in which the players are being paid. The only reason the teams are trading is to drop payroll
You kinda answered your own question. You there are so many WR in this draft… So why would any team trade their first round pick when there are so many options. Late picks in the draft usually belong to the better teams and better teams not giving up their first pick to another good team.
Not true. Diggs is old compare Diggs first trade and contract to aiyuk now round 1 pick
Lower???? Last I checked there were ONLY TWO current All Pro WR's in the NFL, and Aiyuk is one of them. It is extremely rare that a rookie WR can come in and make a significant contribution immediately. Aiyuk is worth at least a mid 1st round pick and probably a 3rd.
Miami gave up a 1st, 2nd, 4th, plus a 4th and 6th in the next draft for Tyreek. Aiyuk's efficiency numbers are right there with Tyreek's. Also notice that KC kept right on rolling. The 49ers luke warm commitment tells me that they'd rather trade Aiyuk.
