Eron I think you tweeted his 998th pitch was like 101 miles an hour which that’s ridiculous anytime you’re in the upper 90s and your the V is higher than the pitch number you just threw that’s insane I was very I wanted Ben Joyce to throw a complete game I want to see him
Throw 105 on Pitch 105 like I’m a big fan of that stuff so amazing yeah me and Chase Burns there’s a few differences in our deliveries but I think mental approach we’re we’re pretty similar in a sense that it was just go out and have a
Good time on the mound you know and if you if you do well while you do it great that’s what we’re working for but he seems very process oriented too where it’s like look I did my prep work we’re gonna go out there and now it’s just the

Excellent comp by the way it’s not because of the uh the trajectory of the pitch or the shape of of of the of the ball flight uh it it’s because you know when when when you pure it as you put it runes when Chason expence that herd when
Thater herd pures that that breaking ball I mean it’s it’s special and that’s like my five iron it’s just that it’s you know once every four pitches uh once every once every four five irons you know in my case uh the other ones you know it’s just hard to it’s hard to
Command it’s hard to control that pitch that big breaking ball while you you know like you said in our in our chat it’s uh you like to see a lot of you know you prefer more slider guys in college because it’s just an easier pitch to command than the big you know
High spin 3200 PM curveball um I mean when he’s got it going it’s special boy but it’s it’s not easy to really command that pitch and I thought that was a great point that you made and I thought that my my comparison to my five iron
Was was pretty perfect so sh FY when your caddy uh puts down the five iron and you want to shake to a more comfortable Club what are we shaking to what what’s what what is your slider you we could just we could just grip down a little hybrid or something you know a
Little little uh little get me over hybrid you know that’s kind of that’s kind of the safe play there oh I love that oh gosh by the way have you ever you’ve played golf with a caddy I’m sure many times Fitzy even for an amateur like me that there is nothing better
Because I stink at golf and so you’re scared to play terrible golf with a caddy it’s the best it’s like they’re gonna they’re going to shave eight to 10 Strokes off of your my heinous game just by not you know not allowing you to be an idiot it’s really it’s amazing it’s
It’s a lot of fun you go to Bandon or Pinehurst or stream song I mean the caddies are just top noge it’s it’s a lot of fun yeah awesome uh boys this was this has already been fun let’s get let’s play the feud let’s get to this

Rule in effect and that Stephen is you can name no more than three players per Series so Kendall has a photographic memory and could literally run off the roster for both teams but that is not good podcasting so we’re going to do maximum three players per series you
Don’t even have to do three players you don’t have to do any players if you don’t want to but um if you are going to name players it’s it’s the maximum of three uh so we’ll each do three series that have uh that Peak our interest this
Week most of the series are Thursday to Saturday because of Easter Sunday and that’s why we’re doing this on Wednesday so uh Stephen what is the first series you would like to chat about so love the Kendall Rogers rule because for me I can’t like memory-wise I am not good at
Memorizing names even back when I was playing my final year at UVA I didn’t know half of our freshman’s names till about February and granted I wasn’t with the team till like January 5th I think was my first day but still that was that was a long time W they weren’t drinking
Age Stephen In fairness like you guys were doing things different things at night Steve’s like a young Augie gito I love it so so it’s tough and like I have notes but I don’t want to read off the notes that’s no fun any presentation I gave I immediately threw the notes away
Because it’s more fun to live life that way but the first series I’m excited for has to be Virginia and going to Duke I’m excited for this for a number of reasons I love Duke’s field I am so glad that they’re back and playing at Duke’s HomeField because it’s such a good
Ballpark I did play there when I was 14 years old and I slipped and fell in the Dugout so hopefully that won’t happen again but I don’t see myself in CLE in the Duke Dugout so we should be good there but I I’m excited for this series
A number of reasons first of all started off the AC to the started off my day on the ACC Etc pod talking about different walk up songs and we went through dukes and their set list is phenomenal like there’re there are probably like one or
Two guys I look at and I’m like that’s not a great pick but only one or two guys on a roster of like what is it like a million now in college baseball it is it it’s a you’re getting essentially three hours worth of songs from these
Set lists but Duke they they have so much promise I know I Fran oelle walks out to Sweet Escape by Gwen Stefani I really want to hear that and I really want to see that happen because that feels like a perfect walkout song okay
We got one name on one name down so okay but Kendall would not have counted that by the way Stephen he wouldn’t have counted that because he would have said we’re talking about music music he would have he would have gone yeah so you’re fine this is where I get lost this is
Why I’m glad I’m on here when he’s not on here because he he seems like he’s got the whole D1 constitution of rules and if you guys know me you know rules aren’t necessarily my cup of tea or my best thing to follow but back to Duke
And Virginia I’m really excited for this too because you know Virginia’s pitching staff has been you know the main question mark and I feel like they still are a question mark but they perform every weekend and they still find a way to get done and they have the offense to
Where they can get away with it and then Duke on the other hand is an absolute monster of a team but they’ve kind of skitted the past couple of weekends not not necessarily that they’ve played bad baseball but other teams have gotten the best of them and they had a really
Impressive midweek win this week against Campbell where I think they ended up run ruling them I want to say or they got close so I’m really excited to see how this matchup ends up going boys I think our picks were already due for the weekly picks brought To Us by by the way

Duke because I leaned heavily on home teams that was that’s been my mistake recently is is taking too many Road teams so I think I took Duke because we all know Jack kum’s field as Steph shock just you know is a house of horrors you know you slip in The Dugout like all
Kinds of things happen so you know good luck getting out of there with your lives but um so I’m you know I win Duke for the for the the home field Advantage piece of the of the equation there yeah I think I took Duke also you know I
Thought it was a coin toss but I just think that Duke has actually played well in series losses last two weeks they let a couple get away um you know be Linson obviously had took his first couple of losses the last two weeks and the onei state was was a dramatic um collapse
Really and and you worry maybe that that he’s been overused but um I think that they’re probably going to continue to give him more rest and I just think Duke’s played well and you know they played well against Campbell the other day and I think they bounced back so um
Not not because they’re at home you know I don’t I don’t think that’s a terrifying home field advantage I mean the crowd’s not gonna be all over you D Steve are they I mean the slipperiness though now that I think back to it we were in camo jerseys so maybe that had
Something to do with it too maybe the field took offense to me trying to hide I don’t know you never know yeah gotta love it uh we still need somebody maybe it’s you Fitzy and metal spikes in the uh Charles Schwab Press Box one of these

LSU versus Arkansas is a top match up this week in the eyes of baseball I’ve been very disappointed in my Tigers but all can be forgiven with a series win and and yeah gosh I’d say so right I mean this is the toughest task in in the
SEC to go on the road and beat this Arkansas team with the way they’re with the way they’re pitching right I mean sure Hagen Smith is the headliner that’s one name um but the rest of the rotation has been great they’ve found guys in the bullpen will McIntyre is doing his best
Uh Kevin cops impression now that doesn’t count Kevin cops is a former player they count but he’s doing his best Kevin cops impression in terms of being a guy who’s just felt like maybe a fringe piece or a depth piece that has just turned into a for them and it’s
Been a real game changer for their for their pitching staff so given the offensive struggles for these teams I think we should feel pretty confident that the pitching staffs will be able to limit run scoring here the key for me if LSU is going to be competitive in this
Series is they’ve got to find a way to do something offensively against Arkansas’s pitching staff um Brad Baker also comments thatch he’s referring to thater herd should go to the pin like last year and figure it out and whether or not that’s what they do the Third
Player by the way that’s your herd um whether or not that’s what they do long term that does seem to be what they’re doing this weekend they’ve gone with a TBA whereas herd would usually be in the rotation so and he still may start the game he still may appear but
So but but I think Brad Baker may get his wish there at least this week and we’ll see her out of the pin but we’ll just have to see how they how they use their pitchers this week is a wonky week in general because of the Thursday part
Of it so coaches tend to deal with that L some just move up the rotation some do like a a staff day on Thursday what have you but going to be an electric atmosphere I’m looking forward to that’s where I’m at as we speak I’m in Northwest Arkansas looking forward the
Series uh should be a lot of fun can I can I jump in real quick on herd because we were you know kind of joking about it earlier but uh it’s weird because if you look at his numbers it’s first of all if you look at his stuff his stuff’s
Electric as it is always been right I mean it’s you know that Mississippi State it was I don’t know mid 90s with a wipe out about you know breaking ball and slider that all all the metrics 3,000 RPMs all that stuff um and he kind of got tattooed it’s like okay well you
Know I mean is it strike throwing and you look at the strikeout to walk and it’s not bad it’s not strike throwing I mean it’s like 31 to 12 or something strikeout to walk I mean he’s you know the stuff is great and he’s throwing
Strikes it’s like how is this guy not um getting more outs more consistently and and I think Joe you made the point in our our internal chat that you know it seems like it’s just kind of like the victim of one blowup inning or two blow
Innings I think it one might have been at Mississippi State but uh it’s you know the rest of his innings are great you know but it’s just like you got to avoid the big inning and that’s kind of the key for him I think love it uh Fitzy

Unmatched Excellence almost I mean it’s just really like superb control the strike zone with combination of power and everything else and the defense of first base um and so we we kept them at number two even though the numbers if you look at it compared to all the other
Numbers around him it’s like whoa like those leap off the page not in a great way but you know what he’s still controlling the strike zone 24 walks 12 strikeouts I I think maybe he’s got to be a little bit more aggressive in the strike zone I mean
It’s hard because they’re teams are are careful not to let him beat them um but I’m confident that Nick kurch is gonna make a run and I think him and and and Merck Houston being back makes a huge difference for this team you know and and again Billy sentto was saying today
It’s like Houston does so many little things that make them better and you know Siver King did a great job filling in defensively is short he can really play that position like I saw enough I’ve seen enough he he could play Short Stop in pro ball and you know maybe get
To the big leagues that is a short stop because he’s super athletic the arm plays the range I mean it’s really special there um but I mean if if you got the luxury putting him in center field because you’ve got Mar Houston you know as as kind of the the slow
Heartbeat calming influence in the infield I think that’s a pretty winning combination also so that’s two players that that’s CTS and Houston um I got to give you Tar Heel guys um and and for me I think it’s it’s going to be boy go a lot of directions Brian Roberts Brian

You know it’s a good fast ball 94 whatever and he’s he’s putting on the black and they’re just knocking it into that Oppo Gap and so he says okay you know I’m gonna I’m gonna adjust here I’m gonna throw this change up just off the
Plate and get them to chase it and it worked really well um he was more fastball slider in the fall the slider was was really Wipeout pitch but he’s developed that change up into a real weapon now this guy’s a dude I mean it’s as a as a true freshman Lefty I mean
It’s super physical it’s mature it’s competitive it’s three real pitches he’s going to be a big big star in college baseball and the fact that he’s already starting on Friday night tells you something as a freshman but um you know they they they’re counting on him and
And I think he you know he’s fun to watch let’s put it that way so anyway great series I don’t know uh I don’t even know what I picked but it’s a great series runes if if I may uh interject with with a handful of things here uh

Burns throwing game two for Wake Forest is that you know if you lose game one to wake you’re like so screwed like it’s the most discouraging thing ever and it is Josh hardle like I I think a rational person would say he’s going to regress to a really good pitcher right like he’s
He’s not a human that’s going to pitch to a 7 ER so but you know like the other side of that is if you throw Chase Burns in in the game one like you know you’re winning game one that’s a great way to kickoff a series so what say you Stephen
You uh Tom Walter is making you make the decision for the rest of the year Chase burns on Friday night in game one or do you like the game two scenario I like him on game two just because it gives a whole game of thinking damn it we have
To face Chase Burns tomorrow so now he’s now not only is he affecting the game he’s pitching in but he’s affecting the game before too and that’s mostly a joke but I like that setup because in my experience it’s an easier way to take a
Lot of ball games like when I was at Virginia when we were four and 4 and 12 in conference or something like that and we were really bad our wins were coming because Mike vassel started games on Sun On Sunday when he had every capability
To be a Friday night starter we just had Andrew Abbott there and Abbott would turn in I I felt so bad for the kid he would throw six Innings every game and only give up like two runs this crappy bull plan would blow it right oh man no
No the game would end with two runs it was very boring baseball games because the other team’s pitchers would always shove because it was their Friday guy and that’s just kind of the way it went and especially when you’re playing teams who are from warmer climate early in the
Season that’s when you’re going to see a lot of that gap between you know hitters and stuff like that so I I really prefer having the one where it feels like it’s a guaranteed win I was thinking about this a lot with Arkansas and hegen Smith going against not Luke hullman which you
Know there’s a lot of reasons for that a lot of okay it’ be shter rest and a lot of change but it’s also a good bet because LSU know you know they’ve had those struggles on the weekend where the Sunday game it kind of gets away from
Him and so having that kind of anchor and that certainty that hey this weekend we have a really good chance on this day as well I I like having that in the back of my mind as a player I think I think the other thing is if you’ve got a real
Horse on a Saturday but maybe you’re shaky in the other two days and and I’m not saying hard old shaky but he has been so far but like if if there’s a risk of getting a short outing on Friday then you’re going to have to use your
Bullpen heavily but at least you can lean on a dude on Saturday to help keep your Bullpen fresher so that you can bring him back on Sunday you know I think rather than having to go back toback days leaning heavily in your Bullpen I do like I mean you know and
We’ve seen that many times over the years um from teams especially that that and Maryland used to do that in the ACC um when when they didn’t they had one guy that they would just run out there on Saturdays love loose Friday it’s fine you know just walk away with a couple of
Wins and find a to fight Saturday’s The Leverage game I’m with you uh boys for my series I’m going to go to the fun belt and I’m going to give you Louisiana at Texas State the Bobcats have been playing well lately but I got to tell
You the team I’m really focused on I feel like I know who Texas state is a little bit you know like I I I feel like they’ve got some fairly famous offensive Players whose names I’m not going to give you because I don’t want to I don’t
Want to uh you know I don’t want to lose my my allotment here Stephen I’m going to focus on the rage and cun uh cuz I for me personally less favorite or less famous I’ll tell you why Louisiana lost a series to Rice earlier this year and
They also went 0 and3 in minute made and you know rice is well under 500 this is not your father’s rice program no offense they’re just I know they’re trying to build it back it hasn’t happened yet and so I kind of packed up my bags on Louisiana at that point and
Now I wake up and they’re five- one in the Sun Belt and they are 17 and8 overall and it’s going very very well they have a famous position player their shortstop Kyle DeBarge is a very good player he’s having a good year I would imagine he would be a very good draft
Pick what is interesting to me is if you look at Louisiana’s pitching they have like a hybrid guy LP Langan I’m G to say it may be pronounced differently he’s got eight appearances but only three starts and 26 Innings kind of a low strikeout guy but very low batting
Average only 167 against and they have like they have these six arms that all have under 200 batting average against uh and seems like they’ve like classic you know like this team that doesn’t have the depth but they have just enough on the mound Andrew Herman it looks like
He’s their best starter you know one and one with a 2.54 54 ER so anyway Louisiana is interesting to me because I kind of walked away from him uh and and shouldn’t have it appears and now that said this will be they will have their hands full at Texas State who clearly is
You know also a regional caliber team so uh I I am I’m very um I’m loving the fun belt this year I’m loving it’s 10 straight weeks and this is a really good weekend in the funb um Stephen you were our lead off hitter lead us off again please yeah so
I really like that pick because funb baseball really is funb baseball when you aren’t a pitcher because it is a hitter friendly conference and Texas State not a fun place to play their fans are alloud they are on you it’s a really good environment out there so great pick
