Matteo Manassero continued his fine recent form to join Joost Luiten and Keita Nakajima at the top of the leaderboard after day one of the Hero Indian Open 2024. The Italian created one of the stories of the season earlier this month when he won the Jonsson Workwear Open for his first DP World Tour victory in almost 11 years, completing a remarkable comeback after losing his card in 2018.
His bogey-free 65 saw him sit next to early pacesetter Luiten and they soon had Nakajima for company as the Japanese came home in 30 to also get to seven under at DLF Golf & Country Club.

Chance to prepare it so I don’t think that was a really a big Advantage but I I like this course I played well here before so uh I I’m happy to be Back this year I I got my card back from challenge tour after uh a few years so I’m I was really happy to be back competing at the highest level of European Golf so um it’s been uh it’s been good I I I started with a with with
A good tournament South Africa and and then a few miscuts but then Glen da I I won there my fifth win on tour and yeah that gave me a lot of confidence on myself and and and a lot of a lot of joy of Course most memorable moment on our golf course I I would say Glen da this year winning again after nearly 11 years on tour was was very emotional and um I’m really proud of of what I did that Day four Ball I would say could be Michael Jordan uh Ronaldinho and Messi my home course is in Garda golf Northeast of Italy uh really nice course with a good views tricky uh difficult greens so yeah I It prepares Me
