Whats in My Drawers Golf talk, discussing golf club reviews, repairs and fittings with a 7x Americas best club fitter and the last clubmaker of the year. We are talking fitting results and other topics with golfers from around the world.
We’ve got some golf club repair stuff some Golf Club review stuffff and some golf club fitting stuff all next in what’s of my drawers golf Talk welcome back to what’s my George golf talk Jim McClary here and this is what’s my George golf talk why because old Club makers and Club Fitters are tremendous packrats and about what in the drawers in my shop and what we do is we talk about about Golf Club repairs
Golf Club reviews golf club’s opinions just so your scores can go low all righty so hopefully we all survive St Patrick’s Day all right now I know I’ve done this before and there is a St Patrick’s day is good but there’s always been this contention between St
Patty’s Day with a d and St Patty’s Day with T’s and if I recall correctly it’s more of Saint Patty with a d than it is paty because Patty is kind of offshoot of Patrick if you guys from Ireland are on there and you know about it or
Anybody knows about that let me know because I got I got corrected on that last time and so I just go with the old standby of St Patrick’s Day all righty so let’s say let’s so we’re going to kind of jump around on this one and
We’re going to go with what I did on St Patrick’s Day and of course wearing green the uh but what I did is I made my very first reuben sandwich and we did it on the outdoor grills we put uh the corn corn corn beef in there and put it on
The grill and so got got outside and it was actually a very nice day unlike today which is going to get down to 25 and we’re probably looking at some snow uh but we get through there so this is what it looks like we’re trying to make
It uh as small slices as we possibly can then I turned around and put it on my griddle and that’s what it looks like when you make four and a half sandwiches with the uh Reuben for the first time out uh if you guys say what do you guys
Like on your reubin we used Thousand Islands because we didn’t have Russian dressing uh we had swiss cheese some people don’t like swiss cheese and we had the regular it was Sauer crap that came in a bag not a can and we drained it out made it nice and dry and then
This was a uh a traditional corn beef from a place called Gobles or Gro and they uh not bad I I learned about it and I thought well that’d be really neat to do a bigger one and make some really big sandwiches but when they talked
About making it it takes 10 days to pickle it I’m like y I’m out and so that was just the most convenient way to go so okay so there is that one so it was really good and and I’m continuing the trend a little bit today uh went with uh
An Irish theme and I went and got not some jamus which we’re very fond of but 12year redb bird and I’m here to tell you it’s not bad not bad at all very smooth it is not harsh on the pallet whatsoever and that’s the old saying is God invented whiskey to
Prevent the Irish from taking over the planet and if they had that I understand why okay so let’s get started let’s talk about last week like last week was a two-hour Marathon wow it was awesome right was it two hours last time no that was the other two weeks ago so anyway we
Talked about ACA shafts on that on their one episode so if you look right here I’ve got them right there I got them the greens the Reds the blues and some Denali Blues now the Denali blue is something that you only see with a custom guy the Denali blacks are what
You’re going to see in the lot of the OEM as a stock shaft particular for stronger players the blue is a little bit more friendly and we’ve played around with a little bit and These Guys these fxs or the gxs sorry are going to be something else
They did change the profiles on them and it would seem the fxs were a bit what I call bardy these guys are a whole bunch softer okay they’re very very soft and that Denali is something else I’ve put it in play on some other some of the uh
The heads that I can use here and it’s working pretty good so not too bad so far I’ve used the green and I’ve used a couple of Blues now I haven’t got brave enough and I’m going to uh get that uh 140 m0 out that they’re using on the
Long drive tours and see whether or not I can get a little snap through it that ought to be pretty good okay so uh I wanted to show you so we did some uh we did some fittings this week I don’t have the video for you because uh for some
Reason it did not record the the video but it recorded the audio so we’re going to talk about it one I did a 14-year-old kid remember I was telling you about one back in the day where uh he hurt his knee and he wasn’t hitting very well so
He called it off said come back when you feel better and he did and he pounded the ball now I will as a funny very first shot he shanked off and hit my little Locker I’ve got over here and he looked at me with big eyes I was like
We’ll hit another one and then conce just proceeded to pound them all down the middle so he got his he got his nervousness out and then started killing it so so what happened was is that he was hitting some uh older callaways and we ended up going with newer callaways
And I got him hit he’s 14 and he was hitting a s iron out to 160 165 uh that’s pretty good and when we got to the driver and this is where you know the combinations are important uh we let him hit his driver and he hit it
Pretty good and I had him hit another he was a Muno driver I let him hit another mauno driver with actually one of the FX in there and I beat the carry distance but slightly beat the the uh the total distance because the spin rate went way
Low as opposed to his he was seeing a lot of run out well then we went to the Max D because he was fighting this fade so I gave him a d club and uh he hit the D Club okay but it was he hit it far
Just hit it all over the place then I gave him another shaft and another head and he was uh very very straight but wasn’t very far so we knew he liked the head but the shaft was working on the other one so we TR we traded them out we
Put the Max on the on the tiny blue and all of a said he has a weapon and literally and this is no joke I literally beat his driver by 20 yards so needless to say that was working right and so he did really well there followed
Up by that was a another young man not he was in his 30s and he was getting stting golfing he was a um about three years into golf and we got him straightened out and got him into a different set of irons a uh a set of
Munos I believe and in all cases we Al always hit this I always start with like the Wilson Dina forged or whatever might be appropriate and man oh man they’re just like this far away this far away H from just getting rated number one so that was pretty good on the fitting
Front if you guys haven’t seen it and I’ve got one oh here Hold On Wilson has provided an AI fitting club now I for one am not a big fan of AI fitting clubs uh and they’re and this is what they look like there we go and it’s the what do they call it Wilson fit and it’s it’s a copy of the
Din forged just in a nondescript shaft it says Wilson fit on it and if I had to guess it’s probably a a Dynam a dynamic gold sort of shaft and then what it’s got is a hole to put a blast motion disc in now when blast motion first came out uh I jumped
On board with them to see if I couldn’t use it in a fitting cycle and the information they were giving was very very good I just didn’t have a way to interpret it interpret it and be able to tell the golfer what I was seeing without having to go into
This physics level class and that’s not what it’s about uh and then it was it was always geared towards the person giving lessons not the person giving a fitting so I could interpret what I was seeing but it didn’t really fit the way our system was going so uh we went away
From it well now they figured out how to do that and now it goes into here and after five swings it’s going to tell you everything you need now let me tell you the the long and the short of all these whether it’s this one mauno everything
They’ll tell you oh it does all these things no it does not okay okay what it says is you go through a questionnaire and whether you like control or if you want distance or if you want stop a fade and basically what you’re telling the computer is what head it should be
Fitting you into I’ll say for instance if I was only interested in distance with the Wilson Club it’s immediately going to throw me into the D9 or I’m sorry the Wilson Dino Power which is a very strong lofted six iron it works very well except for it has a whole lot
Of offset which would throw me off so then if I said well I want uh because you got distance and the other one was control and accuracy and distance and something and and so you if I want I said control and and so what I thought I was
Going to get is either the CB or the dino power Forge when I fit myself sure enough Dino Power forged that’s a good club and I would I would highly recommend that for myself as well uh but what this thing really does and does well is it recommends a shaft now it’s
Going to re now does it have every shaft that’s been ever made that’s out there to give you that idea no what it does it has all the shafts that they offer and it fits it into that now as they grow since this is brand spank and new will
They be able to introduce more shafts and that kind of stuff I would imagine the answer to that would be yes the more data that they get the more flexible or the broader their their their recommendations can become but the whole intent here is for them to get you to
Purchase Wilson golf clubs so you know it’s going to be a very easy questionnaire to figure out what head and then it’s going to tell you uh pick out a shaft now the other thing that it it did recommend was Li angles and lengths and I’m not sure how
They’re pulling pulling that one out just yet but I’ve only done two fittings okay and the for for fitting me the type of club like the dino power forged a basically a a hollow body Club that’s basically where they fall is what I would like and they picked it right uh
They told me I would like a dynamic gold shaft in this in this time negative I do not like a dynamic gold shaft however I did it once with my rep and it said a KBS tour light of which I’ve hit with some other pre-made ones and it worked
Very very well and but then in graphite it’s just radically different um 75 gam recoil now I like the recoil shaft I would say think that would work very very well so you you have to take these things with you know the I see a lot of
These guys and they see it in five swings and they’ve bought off into it completely if it gives you the level of confidence and you go out and hit scores more more power to you is it all that in a bag of chips right this very minute no
Can it be yeah going forward but there there’s a few years down the road before we get to that point so to protect it and me talking as a fitter you can tell me I’m full of baloney but uh I think there’s a little bit of time I’m going
To work this in work that into the fitting just to kind of see where I would want to go with head selections and saff selections and see see if we’re on the same page so far so good I I fit Bob and and uh he went through this and
It came out with basically the same kinds of selection with the types of shafts and heads and stuff so uh might not be too far off okay so we got that one so here’s the pictures of all the shafts on the wall and there you can see it with all
The grips now so we’re doing really well with that all right so on to some repair stuff before we talk about what we build so in one of my builds it was a redo let me see if I can find it and that’s not
It uh I don’t think we I don’t think I downloaded them all right the last one I did was a set of just they’re out there a set of p790s with some newer Dynamic shafts and uh I don’t know what kind of grip we put on we had to change it um
Anyway uh we’ve done some work for this guy in the past he comes in with a hand a bag full of heads and a and a handful of shafts and said some other guy put it together for him and the heads flew off like oh that’s not good and uh so what it
Happened he says he didn’t know why but he finally he realized his error and said why bring it to the guy who fixed him yeah okay okay bring them to me so what had happened was is that whoever put these together uh I don’t believe used actual real shafting epoxy that’s
Number one number two if you look at this these were the tips of the shafts after I pulled them and that he gave them and if you look at this you’ll notice how the tip is nice and shiny you can see the glue bubbling out of the
Stuff and how it’s clear and that clear gives me an indication it was probably something along the lines of a JB Weld or something like that uh or even just something like a monster epoxy so or a gorilla epoxy so if you look at these and you see the tips they’re not AR
Braided you got to be a braided for the glue to hold man and that was Pro those two things together is probably why it took off so a little bit of heat a lot of bit of brush clean out the hosle get the uh tips of braided and and
He wanted some BBN F ferals which he supplied put them together and now we got a take off the old grips because I don’t believe he even cut down the shaft so we had like a 42 inch five iron or some crazy thing like that so now we got
To cut it down to what his fitting says so there we go that’s the repair part oh and the fitting we’ll go back to the fitting we had a return of a very old piece of equipment that we used in the past and it was this an Infinity propulsion
460 and this thing was a really a rocket sled and you see that it had this really cool paint job on the top which absolutely did nothing but uh it had this red color it was rarely very very deep and it also had the shaft that’s
How we knew it came from us and uh so I brought that and somewhere in his family we have made that club for them after we fit them now back in the day and this is going back easily geez 20 years easy 15 to 20 years
Easy and uh thing was a great performer and uh back in the day it did you know uh that was when $300 drivers were just outrageous and we could we were making them for less than that okay so we got that one let’s go over stuff that we made all right first set
This was an emergency set no this does not this was a fitting set sorry this was a fitting set the gentleman just picked it up today just before we set up for the show and uh hit some really we fit him to these clubs but he changed
His mind in the shaft so that’s what he’s getting and uh we put some modus 120s in them and away he goes alrighty then we got this set this is the emergency build set and as you can tell they’re uh redos I think they’re they’re the heads came
Wrapped in plastic but I don’t think Titus would wrap them in that small of a plastic anyway some BB andf ferals um better look right there and then uh with the dynamic gold mids and grips to match and what we did in this uh this
Guy up here we put those in and with the wind grips all right one more set I believe is down here and there they are the Wilson Dina Forge they went out today left-handed that gentleman picked his up we fit him in directly into those and we have those sitting in there with
With there you go and with the jumbo Max grips so basically all over the place right and that’s and that’s the beauty of a custom fit we find out your the right length the right lie how the clubs and shaft the club heads and the shafts work
Together and then we find a grip that fi fits your hands your feel the way that you want to grip the club and then it’s a matter of making a match set and and matching up the numbers you need right no more three through pitch no more four
Through pitch and starting at five through Gap now and and sometimes even six through the Gap all right so we haven’t said it yet but if you haven’t got there like And subscribe uh make sure a lot of this information gets out tell your friends tell your family uh and we’ll go from
There tomorrow I’ve got a new one I kind of switch gears how to choose a putter there’s just so many out there I just I I’m covering the the basics and showing you a lot of different uh options and what to look for in the ways of putter
Okay I think we covered it all all righty let’s go and let’s go and answer some questions Scott Gordon 65 years old swing speed in the mid 80s one in AI smoke should I change from a regular to a senior well so Scott whether you’re 65 or not is irreg is irrelevant
But your swing speed is and what what comes down to is if you have an aggressive transition you know a lot of guys that when they get older they think going is going to gain them Club head speed and nothing could be further from the truth it feels stronger but it wears
You out and honestly it’s slower and if you were here I could show you that if you relaxed and hit the I don’t care shot you’d probably pick up three to four mile per hour just because your muscles are like this and instead of being flowing and every stick in ball
Game that’s been proven that the relaxed muscle goes faster so if you’re aggressive in your transition or your your pull down then no I think I would just stay in the regular range however if you’re smoother and you have basically the the average transition or the smoother transition then yeah the AI
The uh the senior flexx or what they would call the a flex is the way to go now from what I’ve seen the a flexes are are going to be ciphers and you have a choice between a 50 and a 40 uh you want
To take a look at hard look at that just to make sure because sometimes people you can go too light and you’ll lose the club in the back swing the second thing I would also tell you is 452 in is crazy long now uh if you’re only hitting it
Not very far then it may not matter however uh even on the tour it’s 44 and a half to 44 and 3/4 so go out there and play a whole round choke down about 3/4 of an inch to an inch and uh play a whole round see if you don’t hit it further
Okay and if you need one let us know cuz we got them all right Matt what do you say bud no rounds this week it was actually a nice week it wasn’t super hot or super cold but it wasn’t awesome although did you get the uh that terrible rainstorm that came through on
Thursday let’s see questions as the season gets under away what pieces of equipment are in need of changing I’ll gripping my w in uh wons in the coming days well that’s not a bad question uh I just did the same thing Matt we um Robin
Put on I went to some Golf Pride mcc4 mids and uh game changer for me as far as feel now it is much harsher than the jumbo Maxes but the feel was just a little you know as far as being able to feel where I’m going to hit it was a
Little bit better uh as far as that goes I do need to get some cleats because I uh as we were golfing at Golf Shores the um uh one of the cleats they spun out of one of the cleats so that’s just where we got to go all right
Christ hello from Sweden we have a minor setback with spring it turned to winter again with snow and ice ah we’re seeing that here partner we’re seeing that here I saw that cardboard setup you have for your new putter that’s that’s going to force you to keep the stroke in play won’t it
Mr Anderson how are you sir weather’s improving in Dart Scotland not been on the course yet but hopefully will’ll be soon all right well you take care sir and thank you for staying up so late Manuel what do you say buddy hello Jim and Robin all true MLF Believers on this
Podcast weather and gamer proving and I survived a St Patrick’s Day Parade in dinner all right well you know it’s all good at that particular point there was a meme out there that said St Patrick’s Day is the one time and place that everybody can get
Together and and and be good because we all everybody’s Irish well okay John Cherry from Myrtle Beach how are you last week was an excellent good interview belated happy St Patty’s Day to all yeah I did like it it was actually very very cool it was uh
Uh the the days are running together a little bit but uh talking with Gavin is always fun uh he always he always lets out little tidbits just about every every time we talk all right Emanuel he’s got a high school junior Girl 52 with a swing speed of 98 wow with a
Driver uh a sweet swing plenty of potential and she is being recruited by colleges nice length of the driver is too long and I want in a graphite let’s go back here design shaft either XC or bb50 G would a would A3 would length and Driver length be good for or limiting
Solution okay so Manuel the I know the XC is a lowlight shaft so if she’s getting it too much airborne also it’s a little lower spinning so if you’re trying to cut off some spin the XC will do it however it will also make a low flight uh the BB
Uh I’m about the BB I got a u uh the UB is for a thunderhammer uh the the XC would be a little bit uh a little bit more friendly than the BB so even at 100 mph unless she’s just massively just aggressive getting through it uh XC and I might even try
You might even try the ad right uh they got that new one which is the was CQ might be working for it but yeah the uh the length of the shaft being smaller uh in reality is probably unless her swing is like massive flat right like you
Would see the the Asian girls their their swing is typically really really flat because they don’t want to let go of the length but it’s just a truckload of practice to find the middle of the club face uh again even on the ladies tour I’m sure the drivers are shorter
Based on how they swing uh and if you’ve got well you’ve got the machines there uh look and see if going a little shorter doesn’t give her a little bit higher smash factor and I guarantee you the smash factor is going to win over the length every time and the control
Show up she’ll actually be able to work the ball and that should carry on Into the three-wood Now the three-wood is not necessarily as dramatic because it’s already shorter it didn’t follow the driver right the driver went from 44 to 45 A5 where the three-wood went from 43 to 43
And A2 so if you backed it down to 43 or just under 43 you’re probably already in the right wheelhouse all righty John neran how do you feel how do you feel the iron heads available from golf work stack up against major manufacturers well John I am let me put
This out there first I’m a big friend of golf works I like them all right know a lot of the guys there Jim yanich right uh the guys Mark all the guys that are up there they’re good guys in fact they’re the head to designer his last name is
Callaway but it’s with an O not an A and his name’s Pete and uh they’re and Brit I mean they’re all good folk and they have their the TS2 or the T I haven’t seen what the latest numbers are T they used to have ones and twos they might
Have twos and threes right now I would say that those would stand up against anybody okay now there they would be right on par with all those DTC companies that direct to Consumers they would easily stand up to them uh and and and as long as you have the right shaft
In it it it could be a real weapon now they’re more forgiving ones they’re okay they’re not bad they’re just okay where the other ones where theyve put their time and effort into it uh more players like super super duper all right I get out there I got you bud we’re right
There all righty let’s go back here I forgot John was giving us some thumbs up Phil K is From Austin he’s writing in there very good sir there we go Matt you didn’t redo just didn’t you just do your with the teach the teacher videos no that was his
Uh that was that spare set those Founders clubs that he did I’d like for him to go out and take a few more of those out he still shot even par with those bad boys all right and we got that so oh yeah next week just so we know let’s go back
Here Robin saying see you next week so Matt is coming down next week so we’re going to have a Jim and Matt show so have your questions ready he’s always asking you guys one it’s time for you to ask him one and uh and have your
Questions ready so it’ll be a Jim and Matt show Stephen what do he say Sir m freeberg Tennessee shot 8783 in the weekend nice cannot wait till the grass starts growing uh losing too many shots around the green just imagine what that would be as if you got it tucked up in there
Nice and then we got Charlie did you guys charlie you should have seen that that terrible weather on Thursday Did do did you survive it because you had that other ugly weather too did the uh course come back to you new a new name Gary musinski hopefully I said that right from
Too very cool thank you for joining us bud got a question ask allo there’s my buddy Peter what do we have here 67 dude you’re getting unconscious out there 71 73 and 75 good for you awesome and there we go that looks good yeah it was pretty tasty
Man those are my back upet there we go all right jacken usually from Lumbard tonight from Porto viarta oh man so now we got him going on vacation and [Laughter] watching that’s fantastic thanks Jack hopefully you’re enjoying yourself you remember don’t drink the water but drink the
Tequila good for you enjoy that enjoy hopefully it’s a vacation and hopefully having some fun down there I believe Patrick is call is gelic uh I believe Patrick is GIC St padrick is equal to St Patrick there we go Celtic or galic not sir yep all right Matt uh do you use
His no I doubt it but you know we’ll find out Phil K Ruben on Ry with sourkraut next to Russian dressing yes that’s what we like to have it here we and we you know Mr mcgl went out and and basically bought the supplies except for the meat
I went and did that and this is literally our first time ever doing that normally you know one of the around here of course I’m in rural Ohio best place to get a Reuben was Arby’s they have a mean sub uh reuben sandwich uh going up a little bit further north there’s
Another good place up there but uh got the small loaf and the big you saw what it was that was every bit of the bread that came in that dog on loaf like really and where did the rest of the bread go and uh but we used it all up so
There was like two slices of meat left so I guess from a planning standpoint it was really really good but I think I really want to do is make a little I got to figure out how to slice them a little thinner and pile it
On more then we’ll see how we can do there all righty I’m with Billy Goats I don’t celebrate little bean rolls come on man good on the pallet how was it on the wallet not too bad the uh it really wasn’t too bad the meat was just like at
15 bucks and then the rest of it we didn’t have too much into it it wasn’t too bad at all but it can be I mean I can see where people would put a lot into it it could be quite the deal Mak rubben you got to have prepared
Horseradish and since you’re wearing your McGolf apron there may be a little shaft filings and epoxies in there too that damn right actually I’m not a big horseradish guy never have been and just uh it was a thing a Navy thing when I got into some it’s just I’ve never recovered
Uh but just not a big horseradish guy I see it when they make their own that horseradish goes into the dressing and uh I can take it if it’s watered down dramatically but uh buy its Lonesome no I can’t do that and uh but you’re right
When you know I might shake it off just a little bit but there’s you know you got to have a little dirt on it hi everyone douche K long time hope everyone’s been going low there we go their Deuce is back good job thanks for coming
Back the deal Pickle on the side you know what that was yeah that was uh that’s a good one we had uh Bob and Penny over Bob from The Bob and Jim from way back and uh we had potato salad that was actually pretty dog on good and then
The some and the dessert that had green frosting on it so how how much more green can we get alrighty there’s Robin talking to Manuel Michael Moody what do you say sir I don’t have my golf ball glass with me but very cool correct but I knew what you were talking about
Bud alrighty there’s Charlie talking back and forth Matt I played four rounds with that set at the end of last year all four of my rounds this year have been with the gamers there we go okay Robin’s talking to everybody Michael in three weeks and
Snow three weeks and snow is gone and we can start hitting Fairways in North Montreal can’t wait very good that’s very cool all right how old are your Gamers and how much have they had his Gamers have been a while man but he he hits it Charlie so when you hit
Him in the middle don’t have to worry about getting them all dirty I mean that’s just where he does all righty Robin saying no horseradish in ourselves there’s Gary saying hello to Robin Robin saying hello and hit that like button if you would and done and uh I love a baloney sandwich
Well Michael around here in Southern Ohio a baloney sandwich is a delicacy and it’s a fried baloney sandwich and it’s normally very very thick it’s none of that thin stuff you get out of the deli they and they thin them out here in a lot of cases they will put an egg on
It and uh it man people go bananas for that thing around here I’ve not put I don’t mind a fried balone sandwich but putting an egg on it I’ve just never tried it never it’s never come up to like oh hey I need to put an egg on it
And uh and we go through there oh Oh I thought we were since we were talking about a little bit of iser about the the the Blarney sandwich but there you go all right tips not pre properly you are absolutely correct sir it was shocking because I went uh because I
Thought I was just doing a repair and so I’m cleaning it out and I thought well okay I’ll clean off the tip well the tips are already all clean well it’s because they had the Chrome on them there’s nothing for the epoxy to here to so we fixed up the tips
And away they go so now it’s just uh fin fishing touches and then we should be good to go orand a teas absolutely how you doing bud thanks for showing up Jack says when we make Reuben sandwiches we use corn beef swiss cheese Thousand Islands and homemade sauerkraut
Well there you go homemade sauerkraut that sounds like a winner all right and we got Robin another new name we got a bunch of good ones in here Gort clat okay what’s going on buddy and his first Titanic was an impacts oh gez yeah that’s going way back isn’t
It JP Duncan happy St Patty’s Day same to you sir and Gary wants to know thoughts on equal length full set hybrids for a senior golfer of 69 Years if you’re talking if what you mean Gary is single length right uh single length is as we’ve talked about that before that single length has a premise okay uh I if if you’re mentally or the golfer is mentally prepared to swing the same from the five all the way down then
It can work right unfortunately if you’ve been playing golf for a long time you have to beat out a whole lot of tradition and I’ve said this story before in the first six sets of those of those types of clubs I made all the golfers were prepared mentally and I
Made him go through a test and I have a set of single links out there and I make them hit the six and the nine and I tell them specifically what they’re hitting to see if they can generate the distance required uh because that tells me that
Okay they’re laying out the the proper swings between these two clubs and what I found is when they come back I give them a pitch and wedge and they take a nice even swing great we get to an eight iron nice even swing great get up to a
Seven or six iron or seven iron nice even swing great I hand him the five iron and all of a sudden there’s a grunt and I’m like what’s that grunt for and then it goes goes shorter because they tried to hit it harder which is a
Mistake he says well it’s a shorter Club I said ah you just you just did all these other ones s different the same swing and got different distances out of them why would you change well that the gears turn a little bit and then I hand the club back and
They take AO a smooth swing and poof out it goes so if you’re prepared for that then yes now the Single part of it is if you’re talking about hybrids I am not aware of any manufacturer making a full set of hybrids that would be for single length
Just not now there are two sets out there one made by Wilson called launchpads the other one made by Cleveland called I believe they’re called Halos and uh that are that way and what you could do is if the golfers a little shorter just make them shorter and let
Them go hit them the hybrids that way and not make them don’t make them uh single length but make them shorter say take off a half an inch or something like that and they find might find out that you like that better all right orhan what is the best way to
Remove access to pox from a shaft adapter well the first place to do it is uh the first way to do it is when you when you’re putting it in there wipe it off with a paper towel right that’s during the assembly so if you had a I’m
Going to use a piece of paper because it’s close enough and let’s say you had this right and we got it nice and squared off and normally it would only be about this big so you’re cutting a paper towel down to size and then you would take your in your in your you’re
Doing this and what I do is I tend to cover both the top and the bottom at the same time and wipe it off and then what I’ll do is I’ll put it down here under the bottom so I can get everything underneath here and then do a double
Check that’s the that’s the original way now if you find some and it’s snuck out on you and let’s say it’s like a glue booger or something along that lines a small knife and just flicking it off will take care of it same thing on if
You’re holding it on this end just small and I wouldn’t don’t dig on it just kind of sliding the the knife edge up and down and not a super sharp knife just a regular knife just enough to scrape it off that’s one way of doing it or get
Some acetone if it’s a very thin coating a little bit acetone and on a paper towel and rub it off those are the three ways that I would do it as Robin zor G is as uh Robin zory said we’re in Waverly Ohio so if you took
Columbus and you took Cincinnati and you came together that’s where we’re at apparently Frank and brendy are on Facebook watching us thank you guys Phil K Golf Works T ts4 looked nice yes the TS line they really hit a they really kind of hit a home run with the
TS line uh in looks and performance too when they when the 790s first hit the scene Golf Works had some and I don’t remember what their ts number was but they were they were even they were dead even with them alrighty Mike delvesco all right in
Watching half on TV and shot Tracer or hulf on TV it seems like many Pros are hitting low Fades compared to high draws in the past is this the Quest for more control or Trend in modern shafts well Mike in a lot of cases if we
Were watching and I and I’ve had the advantage of being on a couple of tour trailers just for like a day and we go out and watch him and the preferred shot of a of a Pro on TV is actually a it’s a fade a small it’s a baby fade but
It’s a fade and it is it’s because it’s control it puts it right where they want now on a draw you see that they normally want to hit a hit a a higher turning uh shot that higher draw because of of the the spin that when it hits it wants to
Take off and go forward as opposed to the other direction and that’s the reason why so a lot of these guys will uh have that swing speed or swing path to hit the fade but know how to hit the draw and no I don’t think it’s the
Equipment I just think it’s them playing to the courses because you know every once in since they’ve done the uh the going with the grooves and the wedges and whatnot we’ve seen a little bit of different course setup not a bunch but some and I think that’s probably what’s
Happening David Deo what’s going on Sir glad to see you made it Christ said did hit my irons with a new C taper 115x half inch longer than standard the only thing is on the Gap is 16 yards between seven and eight and it’s a 14 yard gap between the pitch and the
48 huh well you could bend them uh Chris it depends on what you got between these six and the seven and what you got between the eight and the nine and and adjust each one accordingly right you might want to make one a little weaker and the other one a little stronger and
Then make your and make your gapping a little bit wider so you know 10 yards is you know is what you see a lot of but with your higher swing speed don’t be afraid to get to 12 right and if you can get to 12 across the set that’s a heck
Of a deal Charlie got a lot of rain on the course was very wet no roll out and the ball plug lies were all too common okay it like that storm went up and it it just we got a bunch of rain but it went
North of us and it really tore up some places above in fact we had tornado warnings and uh and it really took out some places up north good call on the horseradish yeah I’m not a fan I know a lot of people like it it’s just not for
Me duske how much performance are we losing in graphite shafts with butt extensions I’m talking no more than an inch to half an inch of exposed extension uh none uh you know now they make two different kinds of extensions they make a steel extension for the steel shafts
And the gra graphite extensions which are basically plastic for the graphite ones and uh I don’t like to go any more than an inch to an inch and a half either because I’m afraid of it breaking off uh personally I don’t think you’re going to
Lose too much the the bigger part is if you go to extend it that long uh are you going to have a good control of the club and finding the middle of the golf club right that’s what this is all about out you know you can have short length long
Length whatever even we’re talking about a manual for his high school golfer and and and it’s all even in the pros it’s all about being able to find the middle of the face maximizing the smash Factor okay maximizing the smash Factor that’s the quality of your hit if you can keep
The quality of your hit up it’ll far beat out everything else that’s out there all right so if you can let’s just say for instance you took a half an inch off of your Club oh I’m going to swing it slower well by physics definition Yeah by half a mile an hour
Maybe one and and but if it gives you a a point what a03 or Point Let’s just say a 0.1 which is a massive change by the way you will absolutely blow the distances out of the water all right out of the water it’ll be it’ll be gamechanging
Alrighty Ron Griffin does your putting stroke Arc or straight back straight through dictate what kind of putter hle you should use to an extent yeah to an extent yes now we can and you’ll see that in the video tomorrow uh but yes so what it does I
Don’t have a putter with me but uh it used to be in the day where bladed Putters were for guys that had arcs and mallet Putters were guys that are straight straight back and straight forward which to say super straight back and straight forward is almost myth-like
What you have is a small Arc with a almost no closure and that’s what gives you that that look and that feel so what what you would have is you would if you had a blade it would look like this if you had a mad it would look like that
Well you know science being what it is is the the the tour players and you and sheffler is a huge huge deal about that one right watch the dude you put him in a mallet Putter and he’s lighting it up everywhere now you get that and they
Don’t like the face because they don’t like the face balance because they want this kind of action so you put a z neck or you put an S neck they’re the same thing different manufacturer and now that that face balance goes to that it’s just enough to to help help them with
The Arc which is the best of both worlds kind of concept in that you got these big long lines that are on these big mallets so that they can line up the putt better and now they’ve got this P this putter that will Arc with them like that okay now I have a
Caveat the lab putter is kind of throwing all that stuff out the window is this going to move with me it is let’s see if I can make it stop okay so uh it’s throwing it all out the window it say Center shafted and however its balance is like this okay its
Balance is like that and and so I call it in the Target line they don’t like me using that but that’s what it is it stays in that so uh you know you can go straight back and straight forward as long as you it goes where you point it that’s kind of
Their going to be their tagline it goes where you point it it’s a little different but it’s a little different animal the balance is way different it’s a lot of stuff that we’ve not seen uh in the mainstream I’ve had one for good god I’ve had I’ve had a putter that balanced
Like that for almost 20 years prior to going to some of these newer ones and it was a group out of Indianapolis and and so we’ll probably see more of that happening uh we’re seeing it the the pros are kind of picking up on it and they you know other
Than the looks of the thing because it’s you know it it looks like a branding iron uh but the the technology works so to actually answer your first question the answer is yes after we talked about that alrighty My Fit told me that the Lofts can also need a more
Dynamic solution to get less distance in the seven need to one week and then it’s the five then it would be what then it will be five degrees oh yes that but that yeah and that that’s okay because it don’t don’t necessarily worry so much about what you’re gapping in the
Actual physical property of the club if it’s giving you the distance of what you want who cares right if they’re two degrees apart and you’re getting eight it could be just the way that you’re looking down and the way that you’re hitting one versus way you’re hitting the other don’t sweat
It Paul he’s back how you doing buddy preparing for that new the new round of uh tournaments now that I’m in my 50s and my swing speed has diminished will I pick up swing speed if I get my waist back into the 40s yes uh getting in shape will certainly help
Uh I’ve been getting a lot of emails if you guys go back and Dr JP gidry he does a lot of this stuff online uh I fully believe in that all right getting in shape uh getting the golf muscles going and and free and what
It does you free up you know the muscles that allow you to make turns um your shoulders hips back you know all these different things so the muscles can get age and yeah certainly it will uh I did it for that one test period he had me on
And I was hitting the clubs further than I’ve ever hit him before and the the second I stopped uh the speed came back down and so now I I really need to get back into it we didn’t call it baloney in the navy no we did not no we did
Not and the funny is I didn’t like it in the Navy either but yeah it was there Robin said you got the putter shaft tips your input I did not get the putter shaft tips I don’t know where she’s talking I got putter shafts I don’t have the tips just
Yet Michael with the thumbs up very good Michael Moody smok meat Ruben with Swiss cheese french fries klaa and pickles now we’re talking that is a uh that’s a combination man I like the sound of that one I like all that does it go all one
Spot in France we did that and we went we stopped in a place and uh was just outside of uh ton France and they had a vendor there that put the the meat and the all the condiments and the french fries in the bun and then put it down on
One of those uh what do they call those the sandwich presses and so you had it all in one shot very tasty Jerry Wilson from a Frigid North Northwest Louisiana 54 degrees I’d imagine for Louisiana that is pretty cold 30 woohoo all right please pray that PT
Goes well because this not being able to use my right arm is killing me well we all think about you there Mr Wilson hopefully that it does go well and uh get her done so you can get back into that golf duske is really enjoying getting
Into the shaft part of the equipment and want to buy more you shafts to try Lots out there however many of the better buys are but short for me ah I get you okay yeah a little bit’s not going to hurt good afternoon he hasn’t seen them
Yet had to leave ah so I haven’t so there we go we’ll have to see or you can call the Big O all right from now on he’s the Big O Hot Springs Arkansas there’s a new one we haven’t had an aronian around here so very good thank you so
Much Reuben talk I know right we just I just had a burger for before getting on here and I was like oh man now I’ve done all this I’m like man that Ruben don’t sound too bad oh Dave’s on fried baloney size American cheese sunny side up egg look
At there look at that one all the oldtime faves so it it’s a universal sandwich Universal sandwich so here we go we’re talking about we’re going to build golf clubs and sandwiches that’s I think we can do that there we go hi and Jim from Michigan you guys are up there is it
Well I imagine you’re getting as cold as we are today and then it’s supposed to snap out of it again Robin saying thumbs up please you’re more than welcome sir thanks for the a answer or the answers Jim you’re welcome Gary come back and see us if you’re
Leaving that and Tiger’s power fade yes yes horse rubbish yeah I’m not no I’m not a fan there’s brendy there you go he would be able to tell us of all the people on the planet about St Patrick’s Day and St Patty and St patri St patties
All right Jim G to change to graphite steel fiber what’s a good shaft to consider looking at okay so as we found out in the in the shaft thing got to be careful if you were if you’re looking to tighten it up a little bit then you want to you want
To be careful because the steel fibers play a little stiffer than advertised okay and there’s some crazy distance length of fiber that gets or wire that gets wrapped around this thing and that’s the reason why uh I would think if you’re a probably one of the more
Popular uh weights in that category is probably 95 as more popular the 105s or the one they got 115s those kinds uh those are those are going to be brutally stiff okay but the 95 you can get in the r or the S the S will play a little bit
Stiffer than advertise so if you’re looking at bumping up the flux just a hair in the stiff you might be right where you want to be all right uh but that’s those the 95s and the 75s now for a player 75 is probably not going to be
It 95 or 105 but I don’t think I’d go any higher than that Jerry Wilson says hello to all Christ says my loss between the six and there is 10 yards okay uh eight ni is 12 yards so I guess I just need to bend the seven iron yep I’d say just a
Little bit Cam’s back with us well done buddy glad to see you back good evening all you MC golf anator question those of us not privy to putter fitting facilities who like to Tinker should we change the putter or change the grip first when experimenting oo Well uh it would depend on your results that you’re getting with your current putter cam uh if you’re doing okay and you’re just thinking man I just need this little tweak then a golf grip might be the way to go uh you might even you might even experiment with a little bit
Of weight uh get some of those get some of those strips of lead weight and use them on the sides of the Putter and and distribute it out there so it’s even and and see if maybe that doesn’t help first okay uh the second then if you’re if
Your putting is just horrendous like it was for me then a full-on switch to a putter so I went to the Makefield and improved dramatically and I then what I did is I switched to that bgt and the low torque shaft and it improved yet again and then I went in
And then I got lucky enough to be selected to test out the lab Putter and with a low torque shaft and it too is very good now can I miss equally as well yes when I have bad days uh but it they both have kind of the same grip and and
And so I don’t think it’s that it’s normally the bone head at the end of the grip but uh I would start with a grip if you’re just tweaking and and also don’t be afraid to mess around with some Li angles or some Loft angles Jack King if you smoke corn beef
It’s called prami damn right it’s called pastrami pami okay I get the tech behind the lab and the mallets but my eyes are put off by the size the lines are taking the putter back uh back to the aner style for me now uh before you go before you get off on the
Lab brendy the uh they make a link Putter and the link putter is basically a bladed look it looks like it looks like a aner style putter with the neck bolted somewhere just a little bit more forward I’d give that a look prior to and you might be really really really surprised
Le tape question for a left-handed slicer how much tape on the heel if the driver is too much hopefully the answer is not 20 grams because that’s what I did and wow I love it heavy and long well what it’s doing cam is it’s overriding your mistake now 20 grams of
And so what’s happening is when you’ve placed you know when you look here we go when you start putting all that weight back in here and and 10 G will move the center of gravity about a quar of an inch okay quarter of an inch uh so you got about youve moved
That center of gravity pretty significantly and but right here what is forcing is this to happen okay and and so you’re getting through it and what you’re doing is you’re putting that weight right at the bottom of the stick so that you’re actually you’re not feeling all the weight that you could if
You put it at the head or at the tip toe of the club it would actually feel even more heavy but it would leave the thing open okay and we don’t want that now the other the other part of it is is that’s also probably helping you is when you
Added 20 grams of weight you also softened the shaft all right you softened it you made a little softer so all that together what’s probably helping you out is you’re getting a little toe droop and and you’re also getting a little clo face closure for a shaft that you just just made more
Flexible all those things are things that help a slicer get to not slicing so not too bad all right lawence Bronson we’ve got pork roll Taylor Ham here in New Jersey for those pork roll yeah I’ve got I’ve heard of those definitely recommend I’ve seen some guys really really really like
Those uh that that’s something to actually try out I like that myself okay Paul says hit that Thumbs Up Everybody Dave saying he did a a little bit while ago alrighty but with Dave I’ve gotten down to the bottom we’ve talked about quite a bit of stuff today
Went just a hair over it’s not that Marathon two hours but I I didn’t have any help this time that’s pretty good it’s okay guys and GS make sure that you uh hit that like button hit that subscribe if you haven’t tell your friends and your family uh watch out for the video
Tomorrow on how to choose a Putter and then we’ll get back into some more testing I got some drivers to test and uh we should be good oh and don’t forget we’re going to be talking with Matt right we’re gonna be talking with Matt
And so this ought to be a good time and as always let’s see your scores go low
