This is the best drill to release the golf club with power through the impact zone.

To create power in your golf swing you need to hit down on the golf ball. However hitting down, does not mean your body should be moving down. Instead, you should push up through the ball and let your wrists release. This way you are able to more power while still hitting down – creating power and compression.

In this golf lesson, PGA Pro Kerrod Gray and Alex Riggs demonstrate a drill that involves gripping the club halfway down the shaft and matching the extension of the lead knee with the extension of the arms and club through impact.

Now I’ve never seen that before so I want you to go through in detail why this would be beneficial for a lot of players it’s helping players to understand really what release entails and I having them understand that release is just a form of unloading what

We’ve loaded up okay in our back swing if you do that drill again holding that Golf Club Midway on the shaft as we swing back so we’ve loaded the golf club we’ve got this angle here will’ll see this fantastic L position between the club shaft and that lead arm so there’s

Load here as we then travel down through the strike we don’t want to retain this angle forever if we did that if we kept holding this forever the golf club’s never going to make it to the ground the face is going to stay open correct
