Keith that was a lot of good stuff that happened in a short time there with that finish can you just walk us through the last three holes particularly the last three holes really here are you know it’s called snake pit for a reason um the wind today was more

Favorable on 16 um so it was down on 16 so hit fivewood and hadit a nice nine iron in there actually a little past the flag and it was the first really good pot I’ve made all day um a really substantial length and um I I finally

Read one right and hit it and knew when it was about 3 feet out it was in the hole so I kind of gave myself a little fist pump there try to get some some energy going some momentum going um we were really in between clubs on 17

Between six and seven and I end up hitting six just to try to take as much wind out of the shot as possible so it had to take almost 20 yards off that club um to get it to where it ended up that was one of the best shots I’ve hit

All day and just kind of a tap in Putt and then 18 hit a good drive and kind of same thing on that seven iron um I had I think I had 59 hole and I hit my seven iron close to 190 so you know

It was 25 plus yards off that club and um I just got to see the replay and it’s pretty cool how it hopped in when when you hit the shot it looked like you looked down got something in your eye is was that the case yeah actually did when

I looked up something kind of flew in my eye so um I kind of looked away um and never saw it come down and land but I knew it was I mean I was ple when I hit it I was pleased with the contact and it’s an elevated green I wasn’t going to

Be able to see it go in the hole anyway but I never even saw it come down next to the flag John was talking about you’ve kind of worked on some of those off speed shots with the irons I have um a lot lately um

I felt like I used to work on my um just stock swing way too much and I wasn’t really practicing the shots I might have on the golf course as much on the Range so felt like really starting in Palm Springs I started working on um my

Distance control um on the driving range instead of just my golf swing and um it’s really paid off I’ve hit a lot of I’ve been able to hit those shots a lot more comfortably when I’m taking that much yardage off of them knowing that I can actually execute my number did you

Have a Eureka moment that made you start working on that area yeah I would say this offseason I kind of had a team meeting with everybody and my Strokes gained approach you know relative to the field was was very poor um and it’s you know there’s some skews in there relative to your

Driving but still it shouldn’t be that that poor um I was technically losing my card almost every year in Strokes gain approach and that’s just unacceptable um out here and especially when I feel like I have the technique to do it if I can

Hit my driver like I do so it was all distance control um and I learned that fortunately um I hate that it took this long but um you know it’s better late than never you well I mean people look at your game and it’s really complete uh

I mean do you tell yourself you’re ready to kind of start winning a little more you know I I tell myself that a lot and and sometimes when you tell yourself that too much and you don’t win it’s um it actually it’s it can be a negative um

It’s really hard to win out here yeah um I think I I got my win early and um felt like I could win more um unfortunately that’s a really high expectation out here um and you know hopefully I can continue to work on the right things

Maybe even add some more stuff into my practice so that I can just put myself in contention more often and the more you’re in contention the better chance you have to win yeah and then last one here you played that back N I think we were raving about you were 10 under

Going to the last uh so you add two more to that 12 under for the week on the back nine and and really haven’t done much on 11 right so um what’s that say about what happens to you with the turn here or what have you been getting going

On that back nine it’s a good question um you know a couple putts fall here and there and I started out I know the I guess the I think I shot five under on um on Thursday morning and that was just the greens were soft and there was no

Wind um and it’s played a lot difficult since then so I think that had a lot to do with conditions the first first round and then today just couple good shots and and a putter two uh Keith you’re the first player ever to go four under in the snake pit

In a round uh what’s a finish like that do for your mentality headed into tomorrow I mean it’s obviously some luck involved in that um but the good thing is I executed all the shots I wanted to and that’s really all I can do um I

Could have hit those same shots and and made three pars and been just as happy um so honestly honestly um if I can play like I I guess I should say if I hit the shots like I hit coming down the stretch um tomorrow I’ll have a chance um

Because I hit them I hit them all where I wanted to um Johnny and I had some good numbers and um we we executed them um well and out here with the wind small green small Fairways like you never really you can hit good shots and not

Get rewarded um but all in all just it’s really all we can control tomorrow and uh this tournament holds some significance for you uh looking back to 2017 you made your tour debut here as a Monday qualifier uh what what do you remember from that week and how does

That kind of stick around when you go into this week I really two memories I remember walking off walking off uh seven a parred seven on Friday um and I knew I could bogey 89 and still make the cut um and that that’s I feel like my mentality has

Changed a little bit but you know playing on the corn fairy tour like making the cut on tour events like huge um to kind of get your career going and um but anyway I played great on the weekend and then I remember I made probably a 45 50 footer on the last hole

To finish what I thought would have been top 10 to get the next week eventually finished 11th but um that was really I felt like the first time I really knew I could compete out here and um and man it feels like yesterday but it was a long
