Looks good right here hello tiger off to a rough start for par at seven three over on his round early next hole nearly an eagle he gets his first birdie Victor havin had a spectacular run of shot making his third at 10 come on that is so good long birdie at the difficult 11th tremendous stop for the [Applause] Norwegian tiger gave the patrons something to cheer at the r five 15th there you go havin for par at the final hole an opening 65 and share of the first round lead heart rate started going up but after that I um you know uh calm myself
Down and just kind of thought this is going to be very exciting if you want to win this tournament you can’t be scared about playing with tiger tiger finished with a round of 74 nine Strokes off the pace set by havin John ROM already a three-time
Winner on tour this year teas off for birdie at one oh boy and he is not done Yet wow that is just shocking right there a four putt double bogy only Sam Sneed in 1952 came back to win the tournament after such a start his second at eight this is going to get really really close John ROM with that left for an eagle that gets him to three
Under in his second Master’s appearance Cameron Young starting his round with three consecutive birdies this his second at 10 he would finish 5 under on his day Ryan Fox for birdie at 18 an opening round to under 70 it’s great to have my mates up here Mom and Dad obviously I sort of said to myself regardless of what happens you know I get to play Masters so yeah
Pretty special to be able to share the whole moment with them and um give them a couple of Cheers as well out there 1992 Master’s champ Champion Fred Couples at the age of 63 for birdie at 17 Freddy turning back the clock yet again an opening round 71 in his first Master’s appearance in seven years Chris Kirk second at the par five 13th Oh my what a shot wow a tap in Eagle at the newly lengthened 13th hole the subject of the 13th hole has been a topic of discussion for several years after careful evaluation we moved the taback adding 35 yards to the scorecard we believe this modification
Will put a driver in play more often and restore the element of risk and reward that was intended in the original design of the hole it is a change because if you hit a driver you were looking before you were looking at a six iron and that’s a lot
Different than in between four and three into that green so I mean I think if you’re stuck in between and you’ve get more Mayhem because you’re going to get more water balls instead of guys hitting seven irons right into the middle of the green how’s that not more exciting
Jordan SP came to the 13th with his risk reward moment that’s off to the right got to get lucky it did not and in the water at 11 and in the water at 13 J are you satisfied with the 300 part start I made Seven birdies so I wish uh
Wish I posted a lower number but I just had two swings I’d like to get back you know after the front nine I would I I wouldn’t have liked three under but um still a nice last four or five holes there John ROM methodically climbed back
From his opening hole MCU his third at 13 oh this is fabulous very well played thought out and executed his second at 18 look at that four [Applause] Feet a 65 lowest for a round that started with a double bogey in Master’s history I remember se’s quote I think it was a hero of the Masters right when he for put it I just kept thinking to myself well I miss I miss I miss I
Make move on to the next and he did just that joining havin the to the first round leaderboard a healthy Brooks kka showed that he was in form for birdie at seven his second shot at the last [Applause] he’s tied for the lead with a seven under 65 defending Masters champion Scotty sheffler takes the stage at 136 four please now driving Scotty Sheffer playing in the same group 23-year-old US amateur Champion Sam Bennett he carries with him a message from his late Father Mark who passed
Away 2 years ago don’t wait to do something [Applause] Sam heeded his father’s words for birdie at [Applause] one sheffer’s second at the Second what a shot there for Sheffer just picking up where he left off last year and unfazed Sam Bennett with the answer needs a little bit of spin on this one oh and he’s got it lot of shot for Bennett oh what a start 33 Rory mroy had an up and down opening
Round he double bogied the seventh for birdie at the 16th oh we got it still in search of his career Grand Slam and even par round of 72 Tom Kim’s approach to the 13th leads to an eagle he finishes with a 70 in his master’s debut Jason day for birdie at 17 a bogey free round of [Applause] 67 back to the amateur Bennett for birdie at the Six this morning I was anxious I was fiddling around I mean I couldn’t really sit still I was ready to get off that box but um you know I just enjoy it you know that’s where I want to be to be able to hit those shots with the crowds
And um the pressure and you know I loved it and um when the pressure’s on I tend to play pretty Well well enough to match the defending Champion with an opening round 68 Sam’s a tremendous player obviously you usam champion and watching him get get started in his round day was pretty fun I mean he birdies the first making like a 30-footer then he chips in and so you
Know I’m really happy for him and he showed up and played a great round of golf it was it was pretty fun to watch the amateur is only three Strokes off the lead after day one on Monday evening Bennett and the six other amateurs in the field attended
The annual amateur dinner where they were treated to stories of Club founder and golf’s greatest amateur Bobby Jones and also to some inspirational words from someone who’s walked in their shoes having an Amer history here I know firsthand that it’s a lot more here this week than just the pros

Second shot at the third hitting three from off the green at [Applause] 11 and Jason day is within three he’s climbing the leaderboard at the 15th a huge miscue from day there Sam Bennett looking for another fast start to his Round and he finds it with another birdie at one Fred Couples for birdie at Six he will finish 36 holes in one overpar becoming the oldest player to make the cut at the Masters Colin morawa with his third at 15 what a shot beautifully executed he puts himself in the conversation three time Master’s Champion Phil mikkelson has emerged as a contender at the age of 52 his second at 18 oh yeah this is tremendous a second round 69 in his 30th Master’s appearance Rory mroy was struggling at
Four over when he got to the 11th oh no it is going to be very very hard for him to make the cut now and he wouldn’t a disappointing end to his Masters but not for Sam Bennetts the amateur makes the [Applause] weekend that’s fine overnight co-leader Victor havin found himself five back when he teed off in the afternoon and it could be worse this forar at the first one of the great pars you’ll ever see Tiger Woods started with six straight pars when it got to the Seventh that led to his first bogey of the day 1988 Champion Sandy Lyle at the 15th 1987 champion Larry m at the [Applause] 12th John ROM had a purpose in his step and his swing his t-shot at the ninth right oh I think I saw it pop back out
Onto the Fairway how about that it did a fortuitous bounce and a chance to capitalize for birdie could that be a harbinger of good things to come we would have to wait and [Applause] see the expected weather arrived leaving 39 players yet to finish their rounds
But not before one last moment in the Sun for Sandy Lyle who was on the 18th green with a par putt left when play was called but still able to soak in the moment with the thankful [Applause] crowd it’s part of many many years of playing competitive golf since I was
About uh 15 or 16 years old and and it’s come to an end there are nice memories and I’m going home for good feelings he’ll be back to finish Saturday morning with a shot that’s a similar distance to the birdie putt he had 35 years ago what a

After 36 holes after a 30-minute break to reset the pairings and the Cor course the practice facilities once again are buzzing before the start of the third round the afternoon forecast a 100% chance of more Wind and Rain which raises many questions like how much golf will be played and what to
Wear for those players that didn’t have to finish their second round in the morning they arrive rested and warm but unable to shake the feeling that this day will be harder than most the rest of the players know exactly what to expect from the conditions but there are other variables to
Consider Tiger Woods how much can his body endure on a cold and rainy afternoon can John rum stay within a few shots of the lead for just a few more hours that can be a lonely Pursuit Suit and Victor havlin would this be the year his dreams become reality one thing is for certain a final Embrace will be the last warmth these players will feel for the rest of the Afternoon Justin Rose for B 30 of [Applause] one Phil Michelson second at three an indication that it’ll be important for the leaders to score early as the amateur finds himself playing alongside two goliaths Sam Bennett’s te at two oh boy two in a row going left into trouble and he finds himself

Wait as play is suspended for the day with Rah trailing Brooks kka by four strokes if all goes to plan this will be the final day of the 2023 Masters and it begins in near Darkness all of the players returned to finish their third round with one notable exception Tiger
Woods who withdrew early Sunday morning before play began first order of business is to warm up and it’s easier said than done if you can play well early there are plenty of holes left in this tournament impossible to say how far back is too far on this day if you’re lucky enough

Capas second at the sixth opens the door for Rah who has this for par and we have a new leader onethird of the way through the final round on a Sunday Scotty sheffer’s not ready to relinquish his Reign he has this for birdie at 11 shaa he’s back in the [Applause] mix however an errant t- shot at the 12 and it’s unplayable leading to double Bogey and sealing his fate for this Year fala among the patrons with his second at the 16th his seventh birie of the day and he goes on to complete his first Masters at five underpar good enough for a top 10 [Applause] finish ROMs third at Eight how good is this touch just like this a tap in for birdie for Ram the youngest pro in the field Tom Kim going for the 15th Green in two wow what a golf shot an eagle and he would finish in a respectable tie for 16th New Zealand’s Ryan Fox had a memorable
Week and at 16 it almost became Unforgettable [Applause] even par for his first Masters tie for 26th Phil mikkelson at the 12th he’s already made two twos here this week make that three will a second nine charge be enough playing alongside Jordan spe who hit this approach to [Applause] [Applause] 14 Jordan spe spins of Beauty at the 14th and a chance to get to six under in a share of third place Nicholson at 17 come on be Right what a shot for Nicholson oh my goodness a foot from an eagle feeding off one another spe for birdie at 17 in the end the two champ I just had too much ground to make up I was trying to honestly just match Phil shot for
Shot coming in and when you’re that far back you have to have everything go right to come out today and play the way I did and hit the shots when I needed it’s just it’s so much fun so I’m grateful to be a part of this tournament
And to be here competing and then to play well means a lot Sam Bennett with his third at 13 his first and only birdie of the day the leaders crossed the Hogan bridge to the 12th green with ROM in front by Two An errant chip by kka and he falls three behind Rah from off the Fairway at 14 this good shot by R this is going to get a lot better too so it’s going to get a lot better how about it for John ROM kka to sa
Par and the two shot swing has ROM up by five but it’s 16 not done yet burn nope not at all Victor havin up ahead at 177 An impressive week for the 25-year-old Norwegian tie for seventh perhaps the most heartwarming story of the week amateur Sam Bennett finishes his Masters a showing that would have made his dad proud a trophy ceremony awaits as low amateur but first and most importantly an Embrace from
