All right we’re here with Caleb Williams USC quarterback soon to be I would imagine the first overall pick Rick but before we get going uh Rick Spielman former Vikings general manager has has a gift for you uh so can you reach it yeah uh oh Ginger Beer yeah he got you some

Ginger beer so here’s one for you I love ginger beer I will I will do this with you yeah here we go before before you guys get going uh tell us to your ginger beer Fascination cheers yeah so what’s your fascination with ginger beer why

Are you in a ginger beer uh my dad my dad got me into it um and then how is it Rick it’s lovely my sister-in-law gets mad cuz I drink all her ginger bear has nothing for yeah I drink so many like we we’ve even reached out to a bunch of

Ginger beer companies just cuz you know I drink it so much um we buy it so so much and so um but yeah I don’t know my dad got me into it and then I didn’t like it for a little bit when I was younger then I got older and older and

Then now it’s your go-to now it’s my go-to so if you get a ginger bear sponsorship can I get on on the bandwagon with you I’ll send you some I’ll send you some they’ll probably send me too much so I’ll send you some so I’ll ask you this while you guys enjoy

Your ginger beer somehow they’re only two not three but whatever uh we we talked about you a lot in the fall not surprisingly but one of the things that Rick said and Rick was a general manager for 10 plus years he was in the league

For 30 plus years and he said back in September that uh Caleb Williams is more impressive coming out than let me double check Rick Trevor Lawrence Joe burrow pton Manning John away yeah and he he hesitated at Andrew Luck in the 2012 class when you hear things like that

There’s nothing you can do about it but how does that affect you and hear those sorts of things um I don’t think it affects me it’s more of just a appreciation um you put in so much hard work that you know you at some point you

Know you want people to kind of you know appreciate it as much as as much as you do um and so um appreciate that um I just want the free ginger beer uh but yeah it’s it’s it’s more of an appreciate appreciation it’s more of

A a thank you uh to the people that you know are are you know saying things like that or paying attention um in those ways but for me it’s a you know it’s a it’s something that’s really small for me um cuz I I never thought of you know

Being better than those guys or being better prospects or whatever the case may be I just you know try and be my best and best teammate um and best player that I can be and I think you know hopefully enough hopefully that that’s enough at the end of my career to

Be the best ever when you’re potentially probably going to be the number one overall pick in all the scrutiny that you read and all the magnified opinions on you how do you block that all out to be the player that you are well there’s there’s two easy

Ways um you don’t watch TV much and you don’t listen to the radio much okay we’re out of a job you uh you know I do other things I watch like YouTube and stuff I don’t really turn on TV unless it’s you know football games and and NFL games or college games and

So um those are two really simple and easy ways um and then other ways that when you see it on social media and stuff uh there’s other ways that you can kind of you know make it make them kind of go away and disappear if you don’t

Want to see them and then sometimes I I like to see them though um sometimes I I like to use it I like to hear what people think if it’s positive or negative yeah um I like to hear because it it it gives me a little bit more

Juice well one of the low points we’ll call it in the season was the the Notre Dame game and Rick and I do a podcast and we talked uh that Tuesday after that Notre Dame game and we both came away separately thinking we were more impressed with Caleb Williams second

Half performance the way he bounced back because the first half was rough with the three interceptions did you take something from that as well yeah I take something from this whole this whole year um this whole past year um it was it was you know the closest I’ve ever

Been to losing a losing season the closest I’ve ever been to a neutral season um and so I’ve taken a lot from from this year um at one point you know losing is really tough for me so at one point Lincoln sat me down because he he

Knows it it beats me up pretty pretty bad and so um you know he sat me down and and his saying was either you learn from this and you you grow and and go and you know reach what you can reach and you know um or you keep feeling the

Same feeling and you go throughout the rest of the season feeling like this and so um from that perspective and and that point on I you know I changed my you know it was like a a different a differental half time it felt like something clicked because and Rick and I

Were talking about this the other day the ability to overcome three failures in the moment and making yourself better and that’s what was so the biggest thing is is that how long is that going to linger or you just say all right it’s

Done I got to go out and get a chance to do something in the second half that’s exactly what you did to me that told me what type of special talent you are because you’re able to overcome adversity and it doesn’t let you don’t

Let it linger yep yeah it was it was I mean three interceptions on anybody is tough yeah um but every time things something bad happens for me I have a I have a quick saying or two quick saying that I do um with which is which is make

The next thing easy make the next thing simple basically regardless what is it’s a easy pass a deep pass whatever the case may be make it make the next thing simple um and then um another thing that I said to myself in those moments I’m

Not going to you know go out here and keep you know making my team lose and so I tried my best going out there that second half and uh fight you didn’t you didn’t make your team lose I can I can I don’t know much but I know that all

Right I’m going to ask you a few questions get you out of here who’s your football goat football winning and things like that mental it is AAR or uh Tom Brady my football goat is Aaron Rogers no that’s fine and I’m going to have you build the ultimate quarterbacks I’m going to give

You some categories you tell me future I mean past or present future would be you I would imagine but build the ultimate quarterback here we go arm strength uh Aaron Rogers accuracy Tom Brady rushing ability Michael Vic that’s a good one toughness uh Ben rsbg that’s a greaty

Easy um uh Philip Rivers oh you took my big Benin you took my big Benin pick all right Philip got in their size uh big Benin there you go yeah late late years’s big bin let’s get him that and then finally uh leadership uh Tom Brady awesome Caleb Williams USC quarterback

Soon to be the first overall pick I’m pretty sure Caleb thank you so much for your time and you’re welcome for the ginger beer appreciate it thank you thanks

  1. Watch closely. Spielman coughs into his right hand, opens the can with that infected hand and then gives that opened can with cough residue on it to Caleb, who then drinks from the covid-laced (or worse pandemic) can of ginger beer. This is why Poles is trading down.

  2. Chicago will like this guy. The hardest part about the bears moving on from Justin was how likable/classy the kid was. Feels gross to kick a man like that to the curb for the next shiny thing, unless that next shiny thing is also a deeply likable person. Caleb seems to have a similar easy going charisma. He’ll be able to win over Chicago media/fans.

  3. He’s a goof. Hiding something surely….. every time there’s adversity, he runs and hides. Never won ishh. 6 ft flat, stubborn hero ball player. Chicago we are good on this lame clown. Go home to dc shorty

  4. Small but important thing people haven't pointed out. When Fields was asked to name his QB idol, he said Cam. Which makes all the more sense when you take note of Fields' NFL game tape and tendencies, including his weak points and pocket passing challenges, sometimes covered up with scramble plays and dynamic, physical running ability. Caleb highlights Rodgers, Brady and other pass-first QBs. This should be a very obvious tell to Chicago fans that Caleb is not "just about the same type of QB as Justin", which some fans seem to want to presume. They are not the same, and they don't see the game the same.

  5. I like some these QB's for the Bear's I like Michael Penix and Daniels I do not like Caleb Williams has small hands, fumbles too often, doesn't compete with strong playoff teams well…. really there are so many flaws in His game I just hope that Poles see's these flaws, doesn't fall for the trap because it is a trap.
The Bear's have been stuck in this trap. that way of thinking. God Bess Pole because God really play's his hand for the Bears. Because the Bear's can not rely on Poles to do the right by the Bear's

  6. Of course sports media loves Caleb Williams he cross dresses and paints his nails imagine what he does we don’t know of 🤦‍♂️ and he’s a cry baby facts go do research plus he seems like a complete weirdo… Good luck Chicago
