Madria his pass block Howley held it in but the puck got away from him and it’s cleared back into the neutral zone by madria and now the Packers shoot it in and trying to come out is Matson on the left side head Manning a pass to Hackett

Hacket firing it in the left corner the Packers coming back for they’re being pressed in their own zone now and Howley clearing up the left side for moso moso dumping it to Center and it’s picked up in the neutral zone by may but now his pass is picked off and the Packers have

A chance moving in on the left side Howley into the corner taken in against the boards tied up by madria the puck fired around behind centered and fr it broken up in the spot area and the puck is cleared out by madria to center right Burns feeding to his left and off escape

Chasing after it he over skates it and there’s a Southwest player I believe it was number 11 Dan May puts it in for the first goal of the hockey tournament and suddenly Southwest which was really on the defense turned to the offense really quick beautiful shot though beautiful

Shot 27 seconds still remaining in the penalty on gak so it’s a short-handed goal by 4west at 48 number [Applause] 11 at 48 happened to be in the right place at the right time and capitalized on it now wall taking a long shot from the face off Marlo handles that and the Packers try to come out and broken up momentarily at the blue line but now the

Packers played into the Southwest Zone and it’s cleared out by Matson locked in the neutral zone as the Packers come in still on the power play for five more seconds the long shot goes wide to the left by Howley who’s then jammed into the boards and knocked down by wall and

Now briak comes out of the Penalty Box and Southwest is at full strength the puck back in their Zone Matson a rink wide pass off the boards griak picking it up on the off Wing coming in over the Packers line cut it to his right a good

May back of the Zone going to the right side Swig checked the puck is brought back of the net again Southwest doing a fine four checking job but now it’s cleared to Center ice and here come the Packers in for a chance Civic tried to center it’s

Deflected back of the net by mavon Civic chasing it to the left side feeding the point but it’s broken up by lundine down the left side Charlie lundine tried to get around Howley now he gets the shot off he failed the first time but he retained the puck and he shot it w

Now mavon lost it in the slot area and the Packers attack in on the left side a bank pass picked up bosel moving in putting it in front oh a great Chance by K and he could get enough foot out a drive from the point and that shot goes

Wide it’s h in the zone and now it’s B out by madria and wear down the ice it comes right to the net minder Marlo so there’ll be no icing call S grounding his net with the puck going to the right side and dumping it picked up by Matson

At the Southwest Blue Line cross to madria head man’s to Burns coming in on the right side and he skated off and it was offside we have two Southwest players lying on the ice and there’s a break in the action the score the Indians won the Packers [Applause] nothing unsurpassed strength is one

Getting it out to Center and it’s brought back in by KISS plays it around behind on the boards and the puck is fed to the left side for Larry Howley going to his right tapping the puck over it’s B to moff at Center ice mof in over the

Line he’s got a man trailing the pass to Howley got by him moving in from the point here’s a there it is there it is got and I think it was deflected but maybe batted in by a hand it was it looked to me Al that Larry Howley

Number 11 deflected it but what are they going to call offside it was batted in’s shot fired by flum from the point and and a man cruising in front deflected it either with his hand or with a stick over the shoulder I believe it was number 11 Larry a high

Stick so the goal is disallowed and the score remains one all all right you see Housley out front and the shot is taken and it just deflects off of his stick that was a tough call on the referee but he he called it right away Al and and

Bob so you know he it’s a tough tough call but he was on it made a very very Gody call I guess good call apparently uh douge wo wants to question that call Bob why don’t you recap that rule for some of the fans who aren’t that

Familiar with hockey you I’m not really that familiar with that rule myself so some of the things that happen in the tournament are are things that we don’t see during the year but when we you get down to a tournament they call everything very very tight but we’ll

Work our way through those things now they Puck a shot in from the face off outside the Southwest Blue Line madri in the right corner head Manning on the play getting it back from May now puts it out to center it’s cleared back and nson falls and the Packer shoot it

In to the right of the goal a race for the puck along the near boards and the puck goes loose still along the near boards and finally line PS it across on the left he cleared out by KISS picked up by hacket who spins outside the Blue Line gets by one man

Now beats a pass to the left as they come in a long drive is wide by Kiss It rebounds out along the left board it’s May forcing the play back Housley coming around behind the net and here comes Bill Howley at center right in over the

Line to the left Circle A Center pass a shot oh and a fine save there as Dick came over to meet the shooter stopping the shot in front kiss clears it away to the near boards a drive by Howley goes wide to the right it’s in the left

Corner head back to the point by ASI it’s loose there and finally it’s picked up by hack and he’s got May with him the pass to May in over the line a return pass is blocked by Howley May gets it again out the SC L Charlie line steering in May centering

Pass right at the front edge of the creas and Dan May who had 14 assists during the regular season didn’t give up on this play you’ll see the puck bounce off to the defenseman he comes up with it again puts it out front and there was lundine nice and individual play and

Heads up Hy I thought I thought May showed a lot of poise on that Bob he didn’t Panic try to make initial good smart play got his own rebound so to speak off the defenseman’s pads poys patience made an excellent hockey move 929 time of that goal just over

Five minutes remaining in the first period is two to one for Southwest as the puck comes back in the southwest Zone the Packers trying to get the equalizer again the centering pass and it’s cleared Away by clencher got around behind by mavon BS it off the left wing

Wards it’s F to Burns at Center Burns in over the line sliding it to the right for lry and the shot goes up out the play we’ll have a face off in the circle to the left of the Packer goal Southwest has not had all that many

Shots maybe five in the whole game so far and they’ve got two on the scoreboard and they’re very good with the Stick 10 remaining Charlie line from Dan May the official scoring play on the second Southwest goal and now the Packers coming back at Center ice in across the Blue Line play is forced to the far boards and broken up by clancher puck shot around behind the net and on the

Near side it’s Mosel coming out in front to zic a shot a save and the loose Puck is cleared away and out to Center and on down the ice as love managed to get his stick on it and get it out of trouble now so St Paul a pass coming astray back into

The Southwest Zone Love Has It Again puts it out to Burns at Center Burns is Center man a return pass is too far and it’s cleared back into the neutral zone by Styles and the Packers come in again a centering pass it comes right through

To the goal cender and Dick SS it away to the right side and now mosa trying to control the puck as it’s deflected up in the air it goes back into the corner corner to the right and we are going to have a face off to the right of the

South St Paul goal there’s a break in the action with the score two to one for Southwest neither rain nor snow nor sleet nor hail can stop a Salesman from making his calls by long distance 4 15 remaining I thought the save by Greg dick was fantastic with the glove

On the face off the puck is out to the left point shot by H oh it went off bck skate it gravs the Left Post and it’s stayed out on the far side the Indians finding to clear the Packers try to hold it in but it’s knocked into the neutral

Zone and mosa plays it back in off the boards a good hit throwing there and the southwest Indians get it back out the Cent there going to be a penalty here for for boarding probably for barding I think he got him for eling now was an elbing a little rough treatment

Over there 1114 seven in the White 2 minutes for elbing mof getting it for elbowing and the recipient was Davis peny called on the Packers number seven let’s see what Southwest can do in the power play their first chance this could hurt the Packers Maybe at 11

Mriz skating it down back to the left of his own goal cuts through the slot drops a pass back and picking it up M comes to Center to hacket Across the line moving in through the slot h scor hacket firing out of the right Circle and B Marlo with a high

Shot to make it three to one Doug hacket on the power play at 1139 hacket had the puck came across his blue line looked around to see if anything else was happening and just took the shot himself he had it all the way it looked like that went up off a

Defender very good possibly but again the South St Paul defense been backing off giving up that line now this kids going to take the good shot hack it right on top of the circle goalkeeper it’s tough one semis screen now as you know that gold that defenser has got to

Stand up protect that line as much as possible Right on oh it’s three to one and that’s a power play goal and of course the Packers back at full strength as the puck is shot in and kissed will try to clear it it’s blocked kiss coming

Back for it in the left corner play with ahead for hacket Hackett relaying to line at Center he’s got May with him dumps it through to may head Manning in over the line on his off Wing he lost a puck there and it’s cleared back in the neutral zone by South St

Paul ha trying to shoot it in and here comes Phil Howley with it at Center ice in over the Southwest line coming to the near boards driving his shot and Dick steers that away to the left and it’s held no it wasn’t it came out it was brought in offside trapping the forwards

And we’ll have a face off back outside the Southwest blue line with 1212 gone in this opening period it’s 3 to one for the Indians of Southwest I’m not going to swear by my figures but but I’ve got Southwest stopping or 12 shots for South for South s Ball and only six for

Southwest but Southwest leads now the puck brought out by madria plays it in off the boards and it’s promply cleared back out by Styles here’s a chance in over the L mof working against Matson and Matson managed to partially block the shot get clearing it away to his left Buck his F

Out to birds a relay to the right for Larry and he couldn’t get it but now he works it away for one minut put in back here C right in bir to make it 4 to one at [Applause] 1240 let the poor man breathe fellas suddenly Southwest has blown this game open it was lirry who really set that play up on the assist another angle you see lirry picks the puck up on the boards gets it out front and there Burns just takes it right in

Well B van and B Southwest has taken advantage of almost every opportunity they’ve had very poed game right there that’s it very very poised every opportunity they’ve converted South St Paul they got to be scratching their head work work work coming up empty-handed very so right they’re working hard they’re coming up

Empty-handed very discouraging they got to just stay within their game and don’t become individuals right now 124 play underway again and the Packers shoot it in mavon coming back of the net with it banking it off the right side but it was picked off and now it’s

Tapped out to Center Ice by wall but he had trouble getting around Howley to get to the puck and now it’s broken up by griak griak tried to get it out in front and does eventually but nobody home and it’s cleared back into the neutral zone kissed shooting it

In brought back of the net by Pig shaking off one check now turning playing it around behind to the left wing side as the Packers try to get something organized but it’s broken up by mavon puck still in the zone wall battling for it wall trying to work it

In front is cleared back to the point this will be mavon firing through a maze and it hit the traffic in the slot and the Packers start back they’re down by three they’ve got to open it up it’s played in by Hosley and out comes the

Gold tender dick to clear the way to his right and knocked back to the blue line and it came out to Center but course the last he can get it back in the zone and now it’s cleared by Styles off the boards to Center and we have a collision and it’s shot back

In by Davis and H throwing a check in the corner there the Packers try to come out is H iner pass it’s cleared away into the neutral zone and broken up there by May by madria madria along the near boards backing for possession takes a bump from

Plum and we got a lot of pushing and shoving down there we’re going to have a face off 49 seconds to go and then this period will have had it boy Southwest very very accurate on the shooting really pumping that puck aren’t they yeah they’ve been tough

Tough and close Bob there’s no question about it and the the important thing now for South St Paul is just stay together don’t be come discouraged there’s still a lot of time in the hockey game two full periods Civic pacing off for the Packers who get possession

And now natson plays it back in and hits Styles and he got back quickly to clear it out and it’s Center Ice mriga long pass comes in trapping lundine it’s cleared out and now lundine brings it in but this time hacket is trapped and we’ve got the offside being called it’s going

To be interesting at the end of the period to get the shots on goal or the stops either way because I think they’re a little bit unbalanced the team ahead hasn’t had too many the team behind has had a lot of them Dave Peterson making a good move

Here keeping a fresh line out there now so he doesn’t want to give up anything in the last minute of play 30 Seconds as the puck is cleared out of the Packer Zone mavon overp passing Burns winds up back of the Packers goal but it was not

Though there are uh there are a barrel of tournaments right at this time of the year late February March I think this week particularly is probably our most difficult one we have an exciting tournament starting tomorrow at St Cloud State University the girls gymnastics meet and also the boy swimming meet that

The uh University of Minnesota of course next week we got a girls basketball tournament special birthday party out there it’s our 10th anniversary of girls Sports we hope people will really come and and join us in this celebration fantastic well Murray we’ve uh always enjoyed this State High School hockey

They’re young at defense and uh that’s not an excuse and Doug’s been worried about the defense all year they came on strong and uh during the playoffs uh they did uh lose a tremendous player in Rick O’Brien he happened to be a forward but uh again that’s not an excuse

They’ve really been playing well uh during the playoffs and uh just a little bit tight and um uh I really believe that uh bounce here there this period uh things can can come around are you ready I think so we’re uh uh just a type of team that can’t explode and they’ve got
