Sam Burns shoots 7-under 65 | Round 3 | THE PLAYERS

In the third round of THE PLAYERS Championship 2024, Sam Burns carded the low round of the morning wave, carding a 7-under 65 to get to 8-under for the tournament, vaulting him up from T55 to T17 heading into Sunday.

The PGA TOUR heads to Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida this week for the 50th anniversary of the THE PLAYERS Championship at TPC Sawgrass. Defending champion and World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler returns to TPC Sawgrass’ Stadium Course looking to become the first golfer to go back-to-back at THE PLAYERS after his impressive win last week at the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard. This was his seventh victory on TOUR since the 2022 WM Phoenix Open. He has also claimed four top-10s across his five starts so far this season. Rory McIlroy will also be in the field this week. He is without a top-20 this season but will take confidence from his victory here in 2019. Viktor Hovland returns to TPC Sawgrass following two straight top-10 finishes at THE PLAYERS, including a solo third last season. Others to look out for are 2021 PLAYERS winner Justin Thomas, 2023 U.S Open champion Wyndham Clark, Hideki Matsuyama and Xander Schauffele.

Much better today I was kind of fighting my golf swing the past couple couple days so uh did some work late last night on the Range and um kind of found something with my coach there and it was nice to see it kind of uh play out on

The golf course today well we saw the grind yesterday to make the cut I mean the bunker shot at 14 and then you made three critical putts coming in to stay at that one under number I don’t think people realize just how hard it is to do

That and then come out and have the performance you had today yeah like you said I mean this golf course if you’re just a little bit off it’s it’s very difficult and uh I’ve been a little bit off the last few days and so just really

Trying to hang in there as much as I could um I knew if I could just hang in there and and make it to the weekend and find a little bit of something uh we could post a good round and was able to do that this morning well the 15th hole

You know the drive even though it ends up in in the bunker that was a really awkward stance which led to a bogey but I want to get to the 17th the bar three had you hit that Putt in practice I did yeah I did hit that Putt in

Practice um it’s one of those puts where you know you’re really just trying to match the speed up right I think it’s a uh it’s not that difficult of a putt really you have to hit it you know seven or8 ft and then just kind of figure out

The break from there so um it’s a much easier putt than putting from down there to up top so yeah it was nice to see it Go in um for sure but definitely just one you’re trying to kind of cozy up down there the golf swing uh you said

That you found something uh Craig perks and I were talking about the arms and the rotation going through much more in sync today I mean it just like you looked like you were full flight yeah it felt much better today uh I just been strugging with the face a little bit I’d

Kind of my lower body was kind of stalling out and the cff fles was kind of running out and shutting down on me and uh for a fader or the golf ball that’s never really a good thing so uh really just trying to feel like that

Left hip’s kind of rotating a little bit more behind me and squaring the face up and um just feel like I can make a little more of aggressive swing at it today and um so yeah try to clean it up as much as I can and Hope hope go out
