There’ll be a girls team there’ll be a boys team there’ll be a girls game excuse me there’ll be a boys game we’ll have cheerleaders we’ll have music a hot shot contest and a slamd contest but what I want to talk to you about more than anything right now is the
Scholarships the scholarships will be awarded halftime of the boys game we will award thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars wor of scholarships to deserving high school athletes in the Southern Hills Athletic Conference now here’s the deal obviously your student athlete or if you’re one of them listening you cannot win this

Here by defeating by winning a couple of ball games here in tournament play and they defeated Fairland a final score of 5845 to win the district semi-finals have after having defeated Nelsonville York 69- 40 in their sectional Championship now once again it gets a little confusing folks this is actually
Uh there are only 32 teams left in the state at this level so uh it’s how quickly it goes down as far as how quickly all the teams are eliminated because just like the NCAA tournament it is H one and done as we say you lose one
Game and you’re out so every time there’s a uh Tournament level that is surpassed half of the teams disappear so they defeated again Nelsonville York and then Fairland to get here they’re 19-4 overall 8 and3 they played in thec division 3 and they were the champions

Coaching it wasn’t always the case where Norths would beat them of course it was not always the case when Zay TR that either but matchups that’s been over and over repeated many times throughout the years especially up at Waverly High School used to be somebody we see up
There all the time then North Adams having won the sectional Championship moved up here to the convocation center and played uh ironon the Tigers from Iron a very physical ball Club a very good basketball team and ironon a team that I actually had somebody that I
Respect a whole bunch that uh is uh I consider to be an expert in high school basketball told me he considered considered them to be the best team up here in the tournament outside of North Adams and so if you take that to conclusion you might think uh that

The district finals uh their losses uh with that 19 and4 they lost to New Albany South Webster and Wheelersburg they lost to Wheelersburg twice now interesting enough remember that South Webster loss 6462 was the difference in that ball game and remember that as I move forward
We’ll talk a little bit about that in a few moments who you going to hear a lot of well you’re going to hear several players they have three players averaging in double figures miles m Mony when you hear people talk about the Falcons you talk about oh you hear them
Talk about size and they are big they have a lot of size and I’m not talking about just in height this is a ball Club that’s uh bulked up you can tell it’s a ball Club they play football this is a team that has size both in height and
Girth and they’re going to be a pretty strong basketball team but they’re LED and scoring and the leader in the ball Club is a guy that’s only 510 that’s miles Montgomery now second leading scorer on the team is a guy that will work both inside and outside Bennett
Kaser Bennett is 65 and then another guy that will play mostly post and this will be Jackson Shoemaker and he’s at 6’4 so again a very very formidable opponent now interestingly enough again keep that South Webster score in mind and also keep in mind what I’m about to tell you

In front of us North Adams coming in here of course as we said mentioned earlier and most of you know they won the gold ball in uh division one in the Sha they’re 20 and4 overall they average 61.6 points a game offensively that’s a very very nice offensive number they
Give up here’s the big number though they give up only 44.8 points per game that’s a 16.8 Point margin and that’s a huge difference uh for high school basketball at any level uh we talk about this ball Club very very balanced extremely balanced but here’s the keys
To the North Adams Green Devils they are not very big they don’t have a lot of height they don’t have a lot of Gir but they are quick quick quick they and interestingly enough usually when you have a team quick like this they like to play transition basketball they like to
Play a lot of defense they’re very very intense they will defend the basketball and they will challenge every shot but here’s the key to this basketball team A lot of times when you have one of those they don’t do well in the half court this is a ball club that has balance not
Only in the team but also in the way they play the basketball game because they will play from Baseline to Baseline they will defend and they will play the half court if they need to sit on the basketball for a while in the half court

5335 now that’s a pretty daunting score when you look at it in that game miles Montgomery that guy was talking about he scored 18 points Bennett ker had 15 with 21 rebounds wow what a number that is Jackson Shoemaker he had 10 points and 10 rebounds so they utilized their size
To a to its utmost and they were able to defeat North Adams now if you talk to coach Nathan Nathan Copus with the N of Adams Green Devils it’s a little misleading because as most of you if you ever listen to basketball or watch basketball very much or played you know
When you get in this situation it gets down the last couple of minutes and often when the game’s kind of close somebody starts fouling trying to catch up and there’s a lot of stoppages and you foul you send them to the foul line and that margin let’s say you start out
With a six Sixpoint margin with a couple minutes to go suddenly becomes 10 then it becomes 12 and that’s kind of what happened in that ball game North hams was trailing and they found themselves in position that they had to try to play catch up and the margin spread the other
Thing about that game that needs to be remembered is North Adams shot only 23% from the field 23% that is a number that I would bet you they have not even come close to the balance of the season so the other thing I want you to remember I told you earlier menford lost
To South Webster by two now keep that in mind also keep in mind this North Adams game that we were talking about was all the way back in December North Adams played South Webster just last week and guess what lost to him in overtime lost to him in
Overtime by four so what’s the matchup oh it’s about as good as you can get as far as I’m concerned Phil these are both good ball clubs it should be a fun ball game shouldn’t it yes it should be um like you said both teams like to hustle
Both teams have had good records this year and um they’ve seen each other so I I don’t like you said it was early in the year so that may help and it may hinder so who knows and both teams I’m sure have gotten better well especially with
North Adams if they’ll come out and and hit them quickly because you can bet midford is pretty confident saying oh wow we beat him pretty easy well yeah but again that was a long time ago and this North ads ball Club is a lot better team they were good in the beginning of
The season but their losses are all back in the beginning season except that one to South Webster a couple weeks ago in overtime and it was so close it could have gone either way so uh I think it’s an even up ball game and I think Phil you mentioned something that I find
Interesting that a lot of times we don’t think about not only have they seen each other but they have played each other and that should really make a difference in the matchups yes it should they they at least got a little idea of what uh each players and the players that each
Team’s got what their capabilities are what their Tendencies are as far as hustling up and down the court of course you got to realize we’re in a different venue a neutral venue huge space different at the end of the backboards for Compared to North Adams or at
