Let’s go to uh women’s college basketball which in many people’s eyes is right now hotter than men’s college basketball I would say Rob I’m I’m a little more excited about the women’s tournament than I am about the men’s tournament I’m I’m G watch both I’m

Gonna be in the both but you know South Carolina and the women’s you know undefeated uh going for the championship LSU with Angel Reese Caitlyn Clark and Iowa Paige Beckers Connecticut like it’s some some individuals and some teams that some really good storylines and then last week of course you had the little

Brewhaha between South Carolina and LSU the players so even a little bit of drama uh in the women’s tournament um but there was an interesting article Rob written in US say today today it was by Lindsay Schnell and um the title was women’s basketball needs faces a future to be

Black enter ju guu Watkins and Hannah hio uh I guess the the power line if you will in the story Rob was uh in a game built by black women it matters that the faces of the the future look like the faces of the past um she’s talked she

Talked a little bit about how you know the the she feels like well here’s I’ll just read it over the past few years as women’s basketball has exploded in popularity much of the media and marketing attention has focused on three prominent white players Caitlyn Clark Yukon Junior Paige Beckers and Oregon

Sabrina I Ines I’m I’m mispronouncing it iness uh who graduated in 2020 she of course is the one that you know had the Three-Point Shootout with Steph so Rob what do your thoughts on this um the WNBA also has pointed out 70% black very close to the NBA which is about 73 74%

Black so what are your thoughts on this I I I don’t know I don’t know how you’re going to manipulate that when a player the Caitlyn situation Chris I don’t know how you are going to push someone else and JuJu is having an unbelievable year at

USC okay she she’s on Pace already her her rookie year and I know this Chris cuz I work at usfc and we do a sports show we know we do a sports show every Wednesday and they talk about her you know what I mean every every week so I

Know about ju guu her stats and what she’s doing and she’s on Pace to beat Caitlyn record like she’s already her freshman year Chris has been that great that she’s on a better Pace than Caitlyn so she could be the the next big thing you know what I mean come four years

From now but the idea now now you’re talking about marketing and whatnot we we also know uh the country and the that we live in which is Maj majority white right so so we do know that and a lot of times if you can you would

Chris alter or or present not in all cases because if that was the case the NFL wouldn’t be 69 70% black and and NBA wouldn’t be 75% black if if you were just playing those numbers you know what I mean so so that that that’s you know

And pushing somebody ahead no it’s about talent and we’re supposed to live in a world where more so than anything else Chris Sports is the only place where once you get on the field it’s supposed to be equal footing for everybody and the best win that’s why the the the white how

Many black owners are there in the NBA none right not of Michael Jordan’s giving up his team right right none not majority okay that’s what I’m talking majority owner well I I and I like go ahead let me just say this so so in you know we know this Chris cuz

The last time I remember when Boston and Utah played a game dick Henson I mean um uh what’s his name Hinson uh Tommy Hinson Tommy Hinson and Dick Stockton were doing the game on CBS I’ll never forget it and it was a blowout game a

Long time ago Chris on CBS and it was a blowout game and both coaches emptied their benches and put 10 players out on the court I’ll never forget it Tommy Hinson said hey if you got a your TV set up to a VCR record this this will be the

Last time you ever see 10 white players in the NBA on the court at the same time I give the guy credit cuz he thought of it when was that in the 80s I think 80 whenever C the like cbs’s last year of having the game before they moved to NBC

I don’t know go Google it you Pro I mean uh YouTube and I bet you you’ll get the bottom line yeah like what I’m just saying is you can’t you can’t uh pick Talent based on anything other than Talent what yeah the playing field is objective you put two guys in a boxing

Ring on a track uh on the basketball court football field baseball diamond if you want to win you got to take the best one it’s obvious who’s best better and if you want to win you got to take the better player whether black white green red yellow whatever and that’s why

African-Americans have been able to excel in sports because it’s just been objective all the little biases and prejudices that incorporate America can keep blacks out can’t on the field if you want to win they did it they did it they did the quarterback as long as they

Could right and they let’s keep it real and now you’re the that Wall’s finally been broken Rob I I think I I feel I don’t I disagree with the article and I think I feel like it’s pandering to black people uh what we want is equal opportunity we want black girls and

Black boys to be able to have as just as much of a shot at playing sports in the big time as kids of any other race and they you have that in women’s basketball she she said WNBA 70% black you got it in basketball you got it in sports so if

The white players if some of them end up being better if the best players end up being white I long as we got the opport I’m fine with it and I think a Caitlyn Clark is so popular because the same reason Steph she’s shooting shots she’s great player

Obviously but she’s taking shots from distances that we haven’t regularly seen in the women’s game and that’s what we saw that’s why people fell in love with Steph because he did that and he was winning and he’s black obviously and I feel like it’s pandering because what we

We need more than another great black basketball player are more blacks in the front office more blacks in ownership more blacks running the athletic departments or having high ranking positions in these schools heck more black students at these schools US UCLA is about two three% black I USC is probably not very

High either that’s what we need more of than just more athletes and so and I feel also Rob like she the article pointed out how black women who built the sport haven’t been acknowledged and obviously there’s There Was You Been racism in the past that

They faced but I I don’t know I think the problem Rob is the WNBA is not popular and when we’ll see if Caitlyn Clark remember it was written she did Michael Jord we’ll see cuz you and I disappear right I don’t think that’s going to happen even her she’ll get some

Commercials she’ll probably have some commercials and all that and they might sell tickets in Indiana they’ll sell tickets in Indiana but but we’ll see I the league has been around for 20 some 28 years how long has it been around since 96 Chris like been a Whiley

Grinder was huge and we don’t hear as much about her I mean obviously she had the issue in Russia but I mean as far as just for basketball we don’t hear as much about her cuz the WNBA is not that hot Diana terasi Elena delodon Lauren Jackson do they get more

Publicity or more loved than Cynthia Cooper and Cheryl swoops and you know Maya Mo some of the great black I I don’t think so I mean I look at the ESPN pregame show Rob they got Chen the wnb player she’s black on there on the pregame show like I can’t sit here and

Say I I just think that Caitlyn Clark and Paige Beckers are really good and exciting players and when you know and you do have black players like that too and they’ll get the publicity too if they dominate like these I I totally agree I think gu guu Chris in her time

And she’s a freshman at USC yep it’ll happen for her because she’s that Dynamic from the stuff I’ve seen she shoots from all over the court as well and Caitlyn is one of those situations there’s no way you can ignore that I I just I I did the the notion and and you

Might if you want to write another article and say um The Shame of the The Shame of the exposure of Caitlyn is that I can list you five or six people did extraordinary things who got nothing that that’s fine but but to say that the the the

Future got be black gota be if they aren’t the best players we we talked about it Chris uh Major League Baseball right they wanted who did they want um from the Angels oh my God Mike Trout they want Mike Trout would have been the perfect allamerican guy Chris goodlook

Big strong right all that stuff great B player don’t have the personality right didn’t work right right show Otani you can say whatever you want the ratings prove it the jersey sales prove it Chris I was at spring training they’re 10 rows deep watching batting practice do you know what I mean

The F like like what what you’re going to try to squeeze somebody else in right because he’s from Japan no your game will speak speak for it absolutely your game will draw the attention and like you said Juju I think they will get you know the attention if

Juju if guju passes Caitlyn Chris H how won’t she right right she’s gonna get she because Caitlyn we weren’t hearing as much about her a few years ago earlier it was just the last two years to be honest she she emerged and so yeah I mean we like I said we want equal

Opportunities we want just as much of a chance chance to play Excel and be treated like everybody else and once you get that may the best player get the most attention I mean the the only issue I have you might want to say that some black women might have been slided along

The way and I’m not going to dispute that Chris but to say that the face of the sport has to be black women I I I I can’t even get in line with that Rob we’re even say and I thought a few years ago that I didn’t say the face

Necessarily had to be American of the NBA I just thought it would be hard for the face of the league not to be American I don’t feel that way anymore no I mean the first team all NBA is going to be a bunch five International Players Chris did too good we talk about

Right we liit let’s get some more Great American players but if they’re not if they long as they got the same opportunities which obviously they do if these guys are just better it is what it is Chris look how about this the NBA it’s been a long time in coming

Since a Larry bir came around like think about wanted to see a great white American but from this right from this country like like where where are they the next I think CAD Homen is gonna be one he he’s I think he’s he’s gonna be

At least a star we I we’ll see if he can be a superstar but Larry Bird was was just oh my god when him and Magic came out of college and that championship game college basketball still the highest rated Chris and probably will always be oh yeah it will you know just

Because of the landscape now it’ll definitely always be am I right yeah n it was it was it was phenomenal

  1. As a black MAN I do not believe this black woman. Clark can hoop and that’s all me care about. This another reason why WNBA IS LAME .

  2. Why exactly? 13% of the population, do we all doubt that white ppl spend more on sports? etc. etc.
Gonna race card yourselves into the ground

  3. As a black man in my 40s I completely disagree with that statement. that is literally a racist comment to say that. The face of a league is whoever puts butts in seats! the fans will decide who they want to be the 'face' based on attendance records and sponsorships.
That's how a free market Society works

  4. 60 year old black male here. I am taking Caitlin Clark Any Day of the week!.. She out of her mind good and she should be pushed out in front regardless of her race!.. we simply need great players to make the WNBA thrive..

  5. I just think that JuJu and Hannah are in line to stardom rather than not being pushed because of their race, just like any talented freshman. Yall didn’t start giving Clark her love till last year and she has been playing like this since her freshman year, it’s all in due time. But I due feel like Hannah Hildago is EXTREMELY over looked… even in this video you didn’t bring her up even though her name was mentioned in the article. She’s third in the nation in scoring (D1 regardless of class) and arguably the best defender in the nation and doesn’t get the love she deserves, half of her team is injured and she lead them to win the ACC championship. I really wish people will start putting respect on her name because she’s a dog.

  6. SEE THATS THE PROBLEM!! People honestly just need to be happy that we kinda care about women's basketball now . Women's basketball gonna destroy itself before it really even gets started . SMH lol

  7. All the none moor fans are crying a river😂 but have been completely fine for long as i can remember and no none moor fan said nothing about why arent other players the face of any sport!

  8. I get the conversation but the best player happens to be white and she has a brand… So yes it's easier to push her but she is certainly worthy as well…

  9. Imagine this headline: “women’s basketball needs faces of future to be white.” Equality requires equality. This racist garbage needs to be called out.

  10. The WNBA gets no traction because it's a bad product. Most men don't like watching unattractive women and most women don't like watching women.

  11. Notice the person who wrote that article wasn't even Black.

We dont need non-Black people speaking for us. Besides, Women's basketball needs the face of basketball to be great at basketball and actually marketable. That's it.

  12. Ws play both sides and get butter biscuit eating dudes like Chris b and Rob P from the civil rights era to play dumb. Can't trust these old dudes.

  13. The WNBA: “we need to appeal to a relatively tiny segment of the country!” Makes total sense.

  14. A league built by black women? I’m pretty sure all of the owners who actually stated the league aren’t black women. I give the people that actually paid for the teams to get the bulk of the credit.

  15. The best player should be the face and it will be Caitlin Clark. I hope the league doesn't do something stupid like pair her with another player just to appease black fans.

  16. You know a privileged white woman wrote this 😂, Chris and Rob did a disservice to this nonsense. I give it a gold for mental gymnastics 🤸‍♀️

  17. As a black man, I’m sorry to say this. This is about business. And the WNNA needs a Caitlin Clark. America is racial. They don’t need a black face. At the height of women’s basketball, you had the GORGEOUS and STRAIGHT Lisa Leslie at the top. Then you had straight ballers like Cynthia Cooper and Cheryl Swoops. All black faces. Then you had your white players like Becky Hamlin (check last name), Sue Bird. Straight ballers. During this period, what you had at the games and camps and stuff are the little white girls. They were buying the jersies and tickets, not the little black girls.

Not to be rude, although Caitlin looks like a dude, she has the aura of the all American girl. She is white, she is Iowa, and she is a for real hooper! I’m a Brutha. If I owned the business, I am promoting the hell out of Caitlin! Caitlin is going to make those white parents bring their little white girls to the arena! As an owner, forget the black, forget the white. What’s going to get me the GREEN!!!!!!

  18. There’s nothing that can be done to make the wnba watchable. It’s sooo sloww. They miss lay ups..

  19. “If you want to win… you gotta take the better player.” That’s what the Hawks did not do when they traded the draft rights to Luka Doncic for Trae Young.

  20. This is ridiculous. I swear some people just include the word race into everything. These are the people who are trying to make racism relevant. No, I’m not saying that racism doesn’t exist. But racism exists in every single culture. Some cultures. Hate the Jews, some hate Black people, some hate Asian people. You don’t have to turn every single thing into a race issue, and how come it’s not racism when these people say the faces need to be black. If they said the faces need to be white, it would be disallowed. Stopppp ittt! Hello?? Is this thing on?? Just move on. Stop weaponizing the word race so that you can get more hits and more media coverage. It is pure self centered motivation.

  21. If Lisa Leslie, Sheryl Swoopes, Cynthia Cooper, Skylar Diggins, Maya Moore, and Candace Parker couldn’t make the WNBA popular or profitable, why would a black athlete now? That’s not the WNBA’s problem. You better take and market the best talent you can, regardless of their ethnicity.

  22. Chet Holmgren aside, the great “white” American players are hiding in plain sight. With more and more multiracial families in America, there are an increasing number of their offspring becoming NBA stars and top talent – Tyrese Haliburton, Trae Young, Zach Lavine, Klay Thompson, Aaron Gordon, Michael Porter Jr., Blake Griffin, Paolo Banchero, etc. all have a white parent (Wemby too, has a white mother). With changing demographics, it seems more likely for a top basketball talent to have parents of two different races than two white parents.

  23. Black people are afraid of white and other race are dominating sports. Jokic, ohtani and now the Womens basketball are owning it.
