Yo yo yo yo yo what’s going on everyone this is road to the Masters which is my well I should say my but it is mine my uh video podcast Series going over my kind of stepbystep process of building my database publishing it to or I should
Say creating reports with it and then publishing it to a website this is more of a hangout out for you and I so if you want to come here and watch me do this while we talk golf or whatever you want that is what this this podcast is for
And it’s to hold myself accountable it’s to make sure I am working on this when I have the opportunity to uh and what more important way of doing it than saying okay we’re jumping on stream we’re doing it in front of everyone else so that is the whole purpose of this

My website uh or I should just be saying I will be building or updating the database uh I I was watching some some videos on how to create reports and to create reports in powerbi it is beneficial to have several different tables uh let me pull up
Something I’ll just just pull up this powerbi thing I need to update this uhoh sure there was an update we need to do an update oh you can’t even see it on the screen I didn’t even up I didn’t I thought I was displaying my my
Screen but I am not I’m updating the uh the voice mod thing I don’t know where it’s going to show up but we’ll see okay it’s on on my middle screen uh let me display there we go so oh what I was watching this person had a folder that she was able
To she was able to basically power query from a folder which I’ve done in the past I know how to do that and I think that’s super smart because whatever I update here I can just go into Power query or uh well yeah I would be power
Query but I can go into powerbi hit refresh and it’ll pull in the new data and then how that will work is when I go to um the website that will be publishing my reports uh let’s see here something just popped on my screen I don’t need that okay
Um what will what will happen is if I refresh this data and then refresh it on powerbi it will automatically Refresh on the website so I’m brand new to this by the way if if you’re here and you’re just like uh yeah duh yeah I’ve never done it before I’ve
Never seen it done before so we’re kind of figuring it out as we go uh anyways so I have I know you probably can’t see it I’m not going to be able to zoom in much no uh yeah no I cannot can’t make this any bigger for
You I can do extra large icons but what it has is buckets golf courses players results and tournaments which all of them are going to have unique data that go with it now this results uh sheet is the one that I’ve been working on in front of you guys during
Episodes 1 through 4 uh last week’s episode I was trying to build reports and we were going around and having a little bit of fun and it just kind of got to a point where I didn’t I couldn’t continue on cuz I didn’t know what the heck I was doing
So but oh I didn’t yeah there’s some stuff that I need to update still D it well we can do that on stream I can show you everything that I’m going to be doing what I want to do is actually scroll all the way down to the bottom
And get rid of all these formulas because that’s not what this sheet is going to be about this sheet is just going to be data it’s not going to have formulas in here I don’t want any of this information to show up on the powerbi reports
I have another uh sheet that has all that information on it so this should be good I’m going to save it I’ll show you so here’s what a blank powerbi uh report looks like and you’re going to want to get data so you can pull it from
Anywhere obviously mine will come from a workbook so like I’ll import data from Excel and then you find whatever you know folder or whatever you want to pull it from so I’m obviously going to do results actually I think what I can do yes so I’ll I’ll do this
One I will have to close the the page try to open it up again and as it thinks I’ll have the opportunity to load or transform the data I might just want to see what transform the data is I think I’m going to be okay just loading it
Though I want to try two things I just there’s there was something I wanted to build before and it didn’t work and it was kind of frustrating me so I’m going to see if this will work the data in the preview has oh yeah that’s fine it’s taking

Putting isn’t that so like just disappointing the guy could be like the most dominant golfer ever ever like I’m even including like Tiger Woods he can’t make putts whatsoever yeah I might actually be able to put a fifth one in there I’ll have to double check I’ll I’ll I’ll check by
Tuesday or maybe I could just check right now while this thing loads holy moly yeah that’s cool can I just load it come on I don’t get it uh shy Carden so you want to know something funny about that so that 33f footer at 33 ft it’s expected that
You’re going to two put from there so he would gain a full stroke putting for him is 33f footer missing a five-footer he’s going to lose like s Strokes putting like8 maybe 8 cuz like 3T is 90 I think they have a 9 95% make percentage actually you know what we could do
This let’s uh bring over the uh calculator now this isn’t going to have the perfect charts but here you go 33 ft it’s expected to to two putt from there that’s what the two means 5T 1.23 so so I was right this is a uh you like do the
Inverse of this so it’s a 7% chance to make from 5 ft uh 77% chance so let’s just say he does the same thing let’s just say he hits the green uh whoops let’s say 33 feet for green and he holds it see one full stroke putting and then we can do that
Again say he hits it to 5et and then he leaves it to what what do I have in my chart I do have oh half of a foot say we maybe he made it to a foot one foot green zero hole so he’s still gaining UNP putting 23 Strokes isn’t that
Something and this is like this is why I get really frustrated with people talking about Strokes G stats talking about like how uh how good certain people are putting 33 ft in my opinion is a lucky ma it’s a luck sh uh putt like there is it’s not like there’s
100% certainty they’re going the two putt or 100% certainty they’re going to miss the one putt you know but making a putt is a full stroke on the field you’re gaining a full stroke on the field by the 33- foot putt so like you know when we had
Byron in the chat and he was talking about Tom Kim with his putting literally this was happening because his approach game was so awful you know hitting it to 5 ft’s good but watch when I put it back to 33 ft watch the putting too the putting is
Going to go up one full stroke uh yeah well does it stay the same okay it goes back up to a stroke so he’s going to G gain eight but then the approach disappears so if I go backwards 67 to minus .11 that’s almost a full shot lost on approach that’s Tom Kim
Right those those stats that I was doing that was Tom Kim this is lucky and he’s not Los losing putts when he’s you know two putting if if we did this watch this two putting if we two putt from 33 fet away still positive cuz you’re gaining
Just a little bit just a little bit on putting and it doesn’t even matter like you could hit this by 10t does not matter because he’s two putting it still equals the same thing two putting from 33 ft that’s how Strokes gain putts work but what if he makes let’s say he makes
One of them now he’s gained just one putt one putt now he’s G he’s gained one full stroke putting but his approach he’s losing one full stroke Lombard Lee says that’s really cool shal cardan has all those Emojis all green that’s what I’m trying to do with the stf yeah that’s pretty
Cool that’s the one uh benefit you get from using it on the phone you get all those emojis that uh the phone is able to provide while if you’re on desktop you literally got to click into the face emoji or whatever emoji and what uh and select whatever ones you want so you’re
Going to be a lot quicker at this Lombardi Le than than anyone on desktop but if you want access to those emojis hit the little join button right down there to the left if you’re on desktop uh I believe you could still visit the desktop site on your phone
Maybe maybe not actually never mind I tried doing it the other the other day I was uh I was showing my mom how she could become a member and it didn’t even show up on her phone and then I looked it up and I was like oh you got to be on
Certain platforms what do we how we doing here powerbi still loading huh oh my God I had I had to click the stupid check box people who are watching this are like dude come on pending changes what are the changes can I see them sure let’s view the let’s view the
Errors I’m not quite sure where the errors are oh all of these have the errors in them so what is the error will it show me I don’t know I don’t know where where it would show where the error is oh where it says error we couldn’t convert to number oh uh
So who cares and it’s most of the errors are here what is this one we couldn’t convert to a number details are na H that’s something I’ll have to think about cuz I don’t know if I think I do want to keep it as na oh it’s all match play stuff is that
Where I’m going to have most of my errors are on Match play well definitely for up there and for these yeah those are all match play where would the other errors be for the top he there’s some errors here is this also going to be na yep there
Is all right where are the top errors I don’t see my eyes are just going to be miserable after this I don’t oh right here okay is this going to be an NA as well WD oh man hm I don’t know what to do with that so week

Quickly well so I was just going to put together reports I was uh I was watching some videos today on how to put reports together and I found out that I need to I need to merge more than one table in order to to take advantage of the types
Of reports that I want to build I can’t just have it all on one um I think actually I can I can create my own tables with the uh the data that I have but but that could get messy so but uh that’s just up here so there’s
WDS in these or dqs I should say and this column wants wants me to to determine if it’s a a number or a text because I could probably just go you know we can we can change this to text somewhere on here well right there uh we’ll just cancel
It I don’t know how to fix the errors cuz I think okay hold on if I were to apply am I going to get my stuff back okay it’s all right here so yeah um there were some things that I enjoyed uh enjoy doing so like I could create
This uh there we go this Matrix uh which I could I mean I can add any P piece of of information I want so I have a like short tournament name I can just add so I could actually just close in like this and then basically any of the other
Pieces of data that I want to select I can just go ahead and click that drill down on it uh and it can cross report so then if I were to just pull this up and then maybe I’d do another Matrix down here here and make this one a little bit
Bigger and say we could put player I’m not sure if I have the SS player or if it’s just player maybe it’s just player player uh position oh I don’t like that make this gross don’t do that to me oh maybe this wasn’t supposed I think this is supposed to be a
Table I think this supposed to be a table so player position uh probably tournament so short tournament we’ll move this down and I wanted to do like the buckets right so I can add you know course history last year where’s my recent form bucket SS RFB
SS last week bucket so you can do something like that and I can space these out however I want to uh and I could also put like DK points if that’s on here I think I have DK points yeah DK ooh DK total or how about DK points and DK top
10s so like I can add all of this information try to make it somewhat pretty I have no idea if I can no I can’t SL liked all of them uh ideally I’d like to just rename these DK points and DK top 10 that’s
Fine but like so if I were to say I wanted to look at this is what I was doing before I don’t know what this is we’ll exclude those oh no there we go okay so last week I wanted to look at 18 T Pebble Beach but
What if I just want to look at the WM Phoenix open so I can look at all of these results by these golfers and what their buckets were heading into the tournament so I’d want to create something up here for that bucket think um how do I okay so first of all I
I need a matrix like I don’t need one this big can create something like this uh and then basically let’s do that this that this salary buckets stroke game buckets we’ll keep this up here too and then what I need to do for actually I don’t want those to be my
Rows I want those to be my colums so I think what I do then is enter another table I don’t know how to I’m know what this so table would be what oh I know how to do this okay I have no I have no idea what I’m doing yeah yeah yeah
Um okay so I can do this way how in the hell I should have been paying a little bit more attention to it oh come on ooh okay can’t do it that way interesting and then what the sequels one I wonder if I can make a list of one

Is uh I’m sharing this you’ve not seen this yet I have in here I mean I have to update this don’t I no not not much changes so I could actually do this insert basically just copy and paste above and nothing nothing with these golf courses changed over the
Seasons so I have 2013 to 20 24 the golf course um I think uh I probably keep this I’m probably going to have to add another column that says a short name and the short name is just going to be the universal name cuz obviously this would
Be called the Sentry and I don’t know what I want to do with that just right now um but it has all this information on here you know renovation architect when the when the renovation happened who the renovation Architects were what the te grass is what the Fairway grass the rough grass
And then I also have the length of the rough the length of the Fairway green length overseed and then what were the overseas overseeded grasses on the te’s the fairways the rough the the greens if I have a stim meter what was the stim meter uh and basically where I grab this
Information from is those tournament fact sheets that I talk about all the time so I could come back here go to the Sentry and you see how all this information is right here that will go on the spreadsheet if I move this over to a different screen and I look stimp this
Year was 11 where in the past it was only 10 and a half um this is the same information 93 bunkers yep zero water holes Vol uh soil soil conditions this says highly weathered clay uh I think what I wrote down before was volcanic clay so I don’t
Know if I really want to change that I don’t think it’s that big of a deal total yardage 50 or 7596 and then basically with the the scorecard we have hole one par hole two par here are all the pars for all the holes and then you have all the yardages to go
With them and then you know how I build in my what kind of shot shape off the te matters boom I have that all right here uh this would it’s probably going to take a little bit of updating just going back and looking at it but a lot
Of these courses have not changed so I don’t have to change anything about it so like the the Sentry for instance there I’ve updated the Sentry and I could do the same thing for Sony just copy these up nothing’s changed between these actually I need to do one more
Oops and I mean a little bit of tweaking here and there you know I don’t know what the stim meter was I don’t know if it’s going to show me what the stim meter is but just to make sure that this is the same I could also do that
Here I close it it’s right there actually so Fairway length for this year was 3.5 ooh different actually no Fairways were the same rough length 2.5 same green length 115 this was actually 110 maybe that’s why the greens were a little bit faster uh there we have
That so yeah I’d have to go through and update all of this make sure it’s all good yeah I think everything else looks the Same this one’s an interesting one because for PGA West the years are a little bit different so like linta uh I actually don’t think linta was used in like 2020 I’d have to go back and take a look uh Tory Pine’s South course and there’s going to be Tory Pine’s North
Course look at that US Open is even there going have to go back and do this all over again that’s fine but anyways yeah I have all the golf courses that I have gone through Um I’ll add any new course down here they’ll get a new course ID to go with it and then new season so yeah that is what I will be doing with the golf course and just give you a heads up um all of the so actually I’m going to delete this
We don’t need that I have to update this one but the tables I I’ll be putting in there tournaments so I’ll actually open the tournaments up for you so you guys can see what this looks like it’s just me keeping track of all the tournaments in chronological order by week so I can
Get um so I don’t have 202 four updated yet but basically gives me the week number that I want the date I’ll go in here and put down the winners I’ll put down their winning score uh then we can put the golf courses that were used uh well the
Facility then the golf course cuz sometimes they’re different and then this is just information however we need it and it’s it’s just tournaments you know what the tournament names are and tournament tournament name you know I use this in combination with the results page to get me what date the tournament was
On it’s helpful all so far my database only goes to 2023 so everything has been updated except for the golf courses I need to do the golf courses uh but everything’s been updated to where I want it to be I can’t continuous ly keep updating it for the new information um but
