Welcome back to the Great Lakes disc YouTube channel I’m Brian Papa wolf fry and I’m glad you’re here with us today we’re talking about building beginner bags this series and this brand that we’re going to explore today is Gateway from St Louis Missouri I was lucky
Enough to play for Gateway or use a lot of Gateway products early in my career uh still to this day the wizard is one of my favorite discs ever made so let’s get right into it and start with that wizard so the wizard is an overstable
Putter it is very reliable it wants to do the same shot every time and crash left whether you’re a beginner putter that puts their finger there there or there it’s a great uh beaded putter that’s going to give you a lot of control and easy to use very reliable
Finish as you know they’ve got a very unique disc that’s a shallower poter with a bead just like that wizard called the chief and my opinion the chief is one of the most underrated approach discs uh on the market they have a chief and a chief OS this is great for
Throwing those backhand heisers in trying to do a long s put maybe jumping outside of circle to for you really aggressive players but this is a beginner Series so for this it’s an easy to control small profile frisbee that’s great to push up towards the basket now
Usually I do one mid-range and two drivers but I’m actually going to do two mid-ranges in this case I got a lot of experience throwing both of these so I wanted to share a little bit first we’re going to go with the warrior the warrior is their uh stable to slightly
Overstable Fairway this is great for Popup forehands and uh backhands with a lot of power and reliable finish and then we have the element which is a really really easy to throw neutral mid-range I highly suggest this for a beginner player both of these are smaller profiles fits really easy in in
Smaller hands great for kids and things like that now for their driver I went with the Fairway driver known as the spear they mark it a 96 neg 21 for me this is just a really easy to control Fairway driver a lot of gateways lineup is stable to overstable so this one
