Since it hosted the first Championship Tour event ever in 1976, Sunset Beach has long stood as an old-school test of power surfing. And while timeless rail-to-rail surfing still dominates, a new school of surfers is beginning to redefine the wave with a more modern approach. Who will win out, and who heads to colder waters on a hot streak?

  1. John John Florence is never on the ropes when he surfing on the North Shore he owns stock in each and every wave, know one person that surfs in comps in the country knows you can never count John John Florence out until that horn sounds even then keep your breath held,

  2. Two Aussies win the first event in Hawaii! Amazing how things come full circle. Cangrats Jack! Hes put his time in since he was a grom. Saw him surfing outer reefs at 13..

  3. Jack's double barrel wave was a 10!!!! The carve was an 8 alone… I dare anyone to post a better wave at sunset than that ❤

  4. Outstanding job & Congratulations to all these amazing surfers!

All great ambassadors for the sport and representing our most valuable treasures, each other, our ocean & this beautiful planet we all share.❤

    Mahalo nui loha!

  5. This can be sound bad,
But can we separate the men from girls??? In the video I mean. It's always anointing to be surching for the men's or women's events. Ty

  6. Great contest! Still hate the mid-tour cutoff and the five final. I honestly think that is so unfair and I was absent from watching the contests the last few years and consider the world titles have a serious asterisk * next to them. Felipe Toledo I think is very possible, but a final at Trestles means a small wave wizard is the only one that can win a world title. Weak. Very weak. Pipe should always be the final contest. Corporate max spectator is an obvious reason. Can someone please let them know what surfing is really about? I used to watch the contests religiously, and commercials were always fine, but an unfair tour, even if someone wins the tour before the final contest is fine. I still watched the triple crown because that was a contest in itself. Please tell corporate that winning the world title is only one part of the equation. Everyone wants to know who wins Pipe and the Triple Crown as well. We still watch even if a World Title is decided before it. I don't know, probably many have been telling them this for years. Stubborn corporate. All I know is, go back to the prior schedule and rules, I promise I will try 805 beer and the sunscreen you promote. But until then, can't promise anything as a viewer.

  7. The surf shirts, with the typical numbers ARE THE WORSE DESIGNS IN HISTORY. Cloud you be more boring? Let alone for a distinct sport such as surfing. Please, this is a blank space, let some f'n talent loose on it!

  8. As for the chat behavior of a few unhinged individuals such as myself and the Prince of Poultry….Sure, we are a couple of the best surfers the world has ever known, but sometimes people need to get re-educated. It can get ugly yes, but still necessary and and not for the faint of heart. We've seen things man, we been there.
Now I can't speak for anyone else, but I will never come back if you reinstate it.
Its too late for me, I'm too far gone, but don't punish the rest…
