Always a pleasure uh doing the show with you how you feeling it’s freezing it’s a little chilly today I’m not going to lie yesterday it was only about five or six degrees cooler than yesterday yesterday we had warm sun today overcast and a little bit of drizzle in the air and it

Makes a world of difference I mean listen I have a great resp respect for these golfers but yeah I have even more of a respect for anyone wearing shorts right now it’s pretty cold Jerry yeah indeed how are you feeling you good excited come on man give me highl of my

Day right here hanging out with you doing the pregame there’s a guy we didn’t talk about too much in our post show that I want to talk about at the start of this show Dean buringer Dean Binger Burmy it was very volatile uh day one leaderboard had a whole bunch at one

Point I think we were tied for 12 people at first place but the day ended with Dean at the top uh there he is is right now getting ready for day two what are your thoughts on his first day you know when when he was recruited to play Team

Stinger last year signed beginning 2023 he had he had just began to really start making his Mark uh to the American audience playing the PJ tour new member out there um but the guys from South Africa knew how good he was already he had turned a lot of heads growing up in

South Africa and he just absolutely destroys the golf ball off the te they knew they got a bit of a ringer in Dean burer when they talked him in to joining team stinger and what he did yesterday is no surprise I think when you talk to all these so-called experts even though

We have 13 only 13 individual titles a year it wouldn’t surprise anybody if he were to claim one or two of those well here’s a tweet we actually had some reporting from the field here on Dean he had a bad week he actually was sick he threw up blood he couldn’t practice on

Tuesday and then he shot 63 Friday yeah um what what do we make is he is he a robot I mean you know how does this work Beware of the injured golfer same thing happened when he won the South African open he was sick as could be U on I

Think Thursday and Friday’s round and went on to win he wasn’t sure he was a to make it through the day Thursday and Friday and he went on to win and then win the following week as well back-to-back wins in South Africa also DP World Tour events um yeah you be be

Aware of the injured golfer you know what happens when you’re sick and you’re out there not really sure if you’re going to finish you forget about you don’t get a lot of anxiety you don’t get a lot of doubt in your mind and you certainly don’t worry about the results

And and thinking saying in the present is something that golfers and all athletes tryy to do relentlessly when you’re sick it forces you to do that I think it’s it’s turned out to be a blessing and a horrible disguise for burmister that’s pretty interesting let’s take out let’s check out some

Highlights from Dean from yesterday and I want to see you do what you do as always F take us through this break it down here we go he that’s for birdie at number seven for bermas he got on a heck of a tear here starting right at 13 he

Played a five hole stretch in six under par including this birdie at 13 from off the green circles in actually that was the eagle putt at 13 then 14 his second shot I love that wave he gave off to all the fans yeah well you know he’s he’s

Kind of worried about how his body’s going to react while he’s out there he’s he felt so you know under the weather that was at 14 then another just staked iron shot here at 15 nice smooth swing trying to take some of the spin off it old style slanted greens you don’t want

It spinning back uh all the way off the green CU it’ll run for a while and that’s nearly tap in range for burm and there’s the team Stinger GC who are doing a phenomenal job but not a good day for them they don’t play well in

Cold as as evidenced in Vegas when they shot a million the final day okay so so what do you think there’s this little rivalry Brewing between them and Crushers today should be a pretty interesting day you’re saying well you that was bound to happen in live golf uh

And it’s going to continue to happen and there will get there will be pettiness there will be politics there’ll be all kinds of things in the future right now it’s got a pretty good spirit to it CU these guys are all friends and they’re all in it together but there is a little

Bit of a rivalry here cuz The Crushers I mean they just demolished them on Sunday last week but Jerry isn’t this what we want don’t we want the Rivalry don’t we want the trash talk don’t we want back and forth I consider them all my friends

But I think from a TV standpoint and from a fan standpoint yeah you want as long as we don’t get booing on the golf course sure sure sure all right well let’s actually check out this video there was some a little I don’t want to call it smack talking there’s a little

Back and forth between Stinger GC and CR check it out Dean bur of stinger GC the South Africans he has joined the party well lucky my name’s up top I see Stingers are up by one two so it was a good day for the green second place not bad the boys are

Playing well Stingers up by one over who over the crushes Stingers what else is new yeah last Sunday in jeda certainly looked like a stinger team Victory but that was before Bryson Des Shambo and his crushes mounted the League’s most impressive come from behind victory yeah

I’m not going to say anything I mean we a little bit of bad blood after last week I think they’re pushing for a victory but uh we’ll have something to say about that look it’s going to be a good battle boy it’s going to be close

Tomorrow look at the pedigree at the top of the pylon we’re coming you guys got us last week I think give someone else a chance and if you don’t want to give us a chance then we’re just going to take it away I’d love how that video ended with

Dean saying if you’re not going to get we’re going to take it we’re taking it uh but Bryson smirk was was really what did it for me throughout that whole video and the fans are talking about it as you can see and it’s a little chilly out here in

Hong Kong but it’s still beautiful and we’re having a great time live golf league launch its International series promotions event this offseason and it was a thrilling finish to see which three players will be joining Liv golf Liv Golf League welcoming three new members after an exciting Sunday in Abu

Dhabi the only opportunity that I had to make it on to live was to go through the promotions event and so cirle down one I’m calendar and said we’re going to give it everything we got everyone felt the pressure you know there’s a lot of happening in the playoff I think you

Know was tough to tell who’s going to take those spots Kell samuya had this for birdie at 17 and jars the ly one right in the middle of the hall first live promotions event went through a grueling slash eventful playoff and look at the control of This brilliant shot even though it kind

Of came down to the wire looked a little edgy there at times but we definitely felt comfortable definitely enjoyed the moment Kieran Vincent hit a magnificent second into the green on 18 that was his ticket to live golf 24 Kazuma didn’t need to make this one but he did and

Japan now has representation fulltime on live Golf two puts there he gets promoted as the winner you know to win that event you know it’s it was massive it will change my career here so that makes it you know even more special all right and let’s take a look at these International Series standings Here Jerry you see these uh International Series standings here uh with some of our guys here on this list almost all of our guys at the top there the Maverick antcliffe being the lone lone one not a Live member in the top five yeah well we have a a special guest

With us to talk about this South China Morning Post sports editor Josh ball is joining us welcome to the show my friend thanks for having me how are you feeling I mean I’ll start by saying how has it been for you having live golf league

Here in Hong Kong for the first time oh it’s it’s really exciting I mean it’s great to have all these amazing players just right on the doorstep getting to watch getting to watch all of them play live I think has been really great for all the fans and yeah know I mean it’s

It’s a little cold today but it’s you know it’s a really good week so you know I think that’ll warm everybody up and Josh in your time uh doing what you’re doing you’ve been your post now about six years you say yeah yeah uh the Hong Kong Golf Club the historic Hong Kong

Golf Club seeing this quality of field come to this historic Golf Club it has to kind of bring a little smile to your face make your job a little easier oh absolutely who who wouldn’t want to be here this week week I mean obviously you know they’ve had some tournaments in the

Past uh the international series was here in November for the Hong Kong open um which was great event that’s always a lot of good fun and coming on the back of uh Co and the shutdown it was it was great to have golf back in at that level

But this is then this is another level again and Hong Kong really hasn’t had this many well major winners I think you can say in one place before this quality of field it’s um it’s a it’s just a lot of fun it’s great to be the the Advent

Of the international series is something that I mean it’s obviously a byproduct of Live And The Quagmire that is the owgr right now is it I mean is it has it TR transformed the landscape of professional golf through all out all of Asia oh absolutely yeah I mean I I think

The international series and what it did for the Asian tour was it it’s elevated it it’s night and day compared to what it was fre 2019 really I think cuz you can say that there’s an argument now to be made that the Asian tour is absolutely on the same level as the DP

World Tour especially with its International series and so then that that means that that changes the landscape for golfers in Asia because they they don’t have to travel halfway across the world now to not only have a career but have a good career be playing against good players in good tournaments

And and that I mean that can only be good for the the game in the region as a whole but because of Liv uh it’s not just Asian golfers Asian tour well Asian golfers that are playing the Asian tour now you got players coming from all over

The world who otherwise might not have been playing professionally in this region um what is it doing for those markets what is it doing for the fan base and your readership well I mean I I think if you look at the fact that um you know samua who finish obviously came

Through the promotions event I had the the pleasure of playing with him at the proam and he’s a really great guy but the Asian you know they’ve taken their Q School to the US they’ve taken it to Australia you know there’s an international series event in the UK it’s not I mean it’s

Called the Asian tour but it’s not an Asian tour anymore it’s obviously for everybody and that that raises raises the tours profile it raises the quality of the golf and the product generally and I think having all of those things can only ever only ever improve the golf

In the region yeah in your time here you’ve gotten to know the guy we called the mayor of Hong Kong golf club I’m sure Dom Boule is he as revered as being a nice guy as he tells us around here oh no not at all okay good good good no you

Know what I have a lot of time for Dom he’s a he’s a really good guy he’s one of the best yeah and the story is obviously entertaining oh go ahead got I was I was going to squeeze one in there I’m just curious Josh you you know the community

Of fans here for sports who would you say the fans would be most excited to watch in day two today oh I I think definitely John Ram I think apart from that hiccup on 18 which you know was nobody would have seen that coming I think they’re going to want to see how

He responds to that I think definitely out there that’ll be that’ll be a good a good round today I’m personally I’m quite interested to see whether um Martin kimer can back up what he did in the first round because I kind of feel like if he has turned a corner in terms

Of his injuries and getting better then he’s definitely going to be to watch the carrot that’s dangled in front of all of the players playing the international series is the automatic promotion the Andy Ogle tree promotion to live golf um how in your mind when you go out and

Cover these guys and they dream about that I mean it’s a life-changing career changing opportunity obviously uh how much more intense has that competition gotten how much more business-like are these guys behaving now um in terms of their preparation to try and get to that coveted uh gold ticket it’s it’s a

Difficult question I mean you definitely see the the difference between the regular Asian Tour event and the international series obviously these guys are professionals when they get on the course but there seems to be a little less uh back and forth during the international series events especially

When you get to the towards the business end of the season I mean down here um in November when Andy won the international series I mean he finished 12 yeah and he was popping campaign on the green now you don’t see golfers celebrating finishing 12th very often but um I think

That that that said everything about how much it meant but also during the year he was completely dialed in every single time the international series was on and even if he wasn’t winning he was he was finishing in you know in the top 10 top

15s he was really on them and I’m sure everybody’s aware of um if the current environment stays the same and and D said this from the very get-go when we work together starting in 2022 the Asian tour is going to be the real winner here you can I can see this growing even

Bigger than it is now and you mentioned on par with the DP World Tour no question about it I can see this only getting bigger and better and that I could imagine from your perspective has to create a lot of excitement in the Asian market oh very much so yeah no

Absolutely I mean we do get a lot of following from across the region and and the North America as well too obviously the but the um I I think it is going to only get bigger it is only going to get more interest globally I think I

Think the golf fans who might not necessarily have followed the Asian tour before and now paying a great deal more attention to it and I think that that can only be a good thing well Josh we we know you got to go uh before you do go

You’ve been here about what six years or so any recommendations for us and the guys before we get out of Hong Kong that we must see or must do you say listen if you’re not afraid if you’re not afraid of heights then the cable car up to um

Gongping is uh that’s a good one that’s that’s a cuz you can get the ones with the glass floors right no no I couldn’t stand in the hotel we’re in all right here’s a post for our three qualifiers right here you got to love this and uh Josh thanks so much for your

Established in 1889 the Hong Kong open was first played in 1959 and then we have a great list of winners in that tournament however we’ve never had 54 the world’s best players here as we do this week but the course hasn’t changed very much in all that time it’s still

About finding Fairways in fact nine of the top 10 players on the leader board they all hit at least nine Fairways so it’s about finding Fairways and then plotting your way around from there the front nine is playing a lot tougher this week here at the Hong Kong Golf

Club four of the top five hardest holes on the front starting with one then six eight and nine players are going to have to be more conservative on those holes but once they get to the back they can afford to play more aggressively and try and make more birdies as the course

Opens up there thank you Dom thank you suan Jerry as always I’m going to have to ask you what what should we be watching for today well there are so many great players on the leaderboard and so many not that far away from the seven under lead but what I’m going to

Be watching what I’m excited to watch is Abraham answerer he said something really interesting post round yesterday he said I tend to put too much pressure on myself when I go to courses that I know suit my game so he his his inner talk his selft talk was completely the

Opposite he tried to convince himself the entire way around yesterday that this course is impossible for him even though it suits his game perfectly and he had to fight for it and and the most important thing that any professional golfer can learn from his his round

Yesterday in that selft talk is he knows he doesn’t have to play perfectly and all too often many of the most talented players in the world think if they make a mistake they’re done they’re so hard on themselves and he wasn’t hard on himself and he played the best round of

Do specific things to activate him according to what we see on his body um he’s uh got tremendous hip strength very very fast to each fibers in his hip so there’s a lot of speed generated and then sometimes the cor lags behind a little bit so there sit crossover

Patterns that we sometimes test and have to reactivate for him and also shoulder girle stability for him is a is a big thing he’s got great balance um and he’s progressing every week uh since we set some priorities and treatment priorities he’s an amazing guy to work with you’ve

Done this before right one thing for the people at home that can help them with before they get ready to play around um I think active movement I think people are under moved movement is therapy but as soon as you get the muscles primed working and functional crossover patterns engulf and some rotational

Patterns is always important so if you can turn and you have good balance so instead of going to did the Gman do a bicep gole do it standing on one leg just functional there we go did you get that everyone thank you he speaks very very well thank you conell right I think
