Hello and welcome to the millennial golfer today we’re diving into the showdown between the tailor made M2 tour irons and the powerful Nike Vapor Pro irons despite being tailored for very different player profiles I’m setting them head-to-head in an interesting nine-hole iron battle the rules are
Simple I’ll take a shot with each iron then Crown the superior one with a point and continue the duel from there let’s the on hole number one a short per four I’m hitting four iron and then Nike Vapor Pro goes first these irons made their debut in 2015 initially priced at
A cool $1,000 in us or €1,100 in Europe nowadays you can snatch them up on eBay for a deal ranging from maybe 400 to up to $600 these bad boys were engineered for the elite designed with a sleek modern muscle back for that penetrating low ball flight second shot takes us into
The rough and it’s a six iron the Nike steps up and lands on the green the M22 however takes a bit of a slice and lands just shy off the bunker one hole in and the Nike irons search ahead by two before we hit that Par 3 second hole
Let’s explore the tailor made M2 tour irons a bit these game improvement irons stormed onto the scene in 2016 originally priced at a cool Grand today you can score them and then wallet friendly $350 grafted for the everyday golfer seeking The Sweet Spot between distance and playability these irons find a
Harmony in the balance between forgiveness and feel their design is a touch more refined than regular m2s Al bu it not as Sleek as the Nike Vapor Pros now onto the second hole on this pathway I hit another six Iron and again the Nike ends up nicely on the green and snatches the point now let’s see if I can actually lock in that birdie PT all right maybe next time next up is a short puff four where both shots let’s just be honest here didn’t exactly make the
Highlights no points awarded here for all your Gearheads out there I’ve created detailed PDFs on each set of irons and you can find the link to them in the description below but for now let’s look at the Nike VAP Pro irons and the three major benefits that Nike
Promised back then claim number one pure Precision promising maximum feel and feedback and it’s true these irons will let you know where on the face you actually hit the ball you have an Exquisite feel however it comes at a large cost of forgiveness because there is no forgiveness benefit number two is
The modern muscle back geometry promising an increased ball speed and as more distance where I’m not really entirely convinced as the distance closely aligns with modern irons provided you actually do hit that elusive Sweet Spot lastly the final benefit is the so-called x3x Groove technology designed for the ultimate
Spin sure you have a dazzling amount of spin if you actually do hit the sweet spot but as I mentioned before it’s like threading a needle during a hurricane all right now the fourth one it’s an eight iron on this short par three and while I didn’t hit the Nike so badly it
Ends up in a bunker as a result the M2 tour prevails making it over the obstacle and actually snatching a point here now let’s look a little bit closer at the M2 tour and the three big promises that Taylor Made made first up is so-called speed pocket technology engineered to increase ball
Speed even on offc Center hits with this I’m definitely on board these babies deliver a nice distance maybe not quite as long as the m4s but they are definitely respectable even on less than perfect shots benefit number two is the so called 3D sound management badge which sounds very esoteric and it promises
Better Sound and feel and surprisingly it actually holds up its end of the bargain the sound is strong and crisp and to me this really pumped up my confidence last but not least tailor made advertised the Compact and player friendly design tailored for shut shaping and control and while the
M2 tours are more streamlined than the standard M2 irons they are clunkier than modern irand like the Mizuno Pro 223 and they’re definitely much more clunky than the Nike Paper Pros in this video as for shot shaping well my skills weren’t exactly stage ready at the time
So I do not want to make a comment on the shut shape ability of the irons as we move on in the battle we go to Hole number five a nice little par five for iron of the tea and the Nike stands its ground round and lands in the heart of the
Fairway meanwhile D M2 takes a small detour to the right finding the trees the second shot is a for iron again and both performances actually impressed me the Nik was a little bit pulled and the M2 a little bit pushed and unfortunately for them M to they found the bunker at an awkward
Distance so the Nike take the points again next up is a short Par Four with a six iron of the tea and finally the M2 claims a point so maybe there’s some Redemption coming up let’s take a quick Brea again and just discuss the M2 tour’s standout features in my opinion
They are very nice blend of Elegance and forgiveness they’re not overly bulky nor Meek the souls are also very helpful because they actually prevent a few fat shots gliding smoothly over the turf as I mentioned the distances are legit the sound is crisp and powerful and this combination
Definitely gives a lot of trust and confidence but what about the Nike Vapor Pro irons leading the charge here is the electrifying color scheme on one hand you have the black and then on the other hand you have this neon green or neon yellow this combination is very
Aggressive and to me it translates into my iron shots the highlight of the Nike Vapor Pros is definitely the feel yes you do have to hit the sweet spot and yes it is very difficult to do so but if you do they’re amazing and let’s be honest here these irons are beast to
Master but they were also designed under the watchful eyes of Legends Tiger Woods and Royal maoy so it’s not surprising that unless you’ve got a PhD in ball striking these irons are probably not meant for you unless you want a nice little piece of art on your office wall
Or in the middle of your living room but now let’s go back to the iron battle and the seventh pole which is usually a medium length part three but today they’re redoing the T boxes and I have to hit it from the rough a bit further
Up front armed with an eight iron the M2 in the end snacks the point gaining a little bit of ground compared to the Nike Vapor Pros hole number eight is the most difficult hole on the course actually it’s a medium length per four that requires straight t-shot only to
Leave you with a blind or half blind second shot both irons each of four iron actually hit really nicely and I’m very impressed with both of them thus I’m calling it a draw as I’ve hinted before the second shot is blind and requires almost a six cents hitting a six iron
The M2 goes first and actually hits the the green unfortunately the Nike doesn’t manage to hit the green and the Gap Narrows just before the final hole after eight holes the Nik leads 6 to5 before we go on the final stretch the ninth hole let me just give you a quick
Rundown on who should snack each set of irons and what they bring to the table the M2 tour is your goto iron set if you’re cruising at a mid- handicap say something around 15 to 25 and you’re looking for that perfect Fusion of distance forgiveness and a little bit of
Workability they have a compact design that won’t let you down even when you don’t hit it quite in the middle of the club I would go as far as saying that anyone between a 10 and maybe even 30 handicap could play these irons especially at the current price points
But what about the Nike Vapor Pro irons to me these are strictly for the pros at heart the low handicap maestros cruising around the scratch to maybe five handicap Mark and you better have a superb ball striking lockdown because these irons demand nothing less designed with a traditional blade in mind they
Just look amazing especially with that splash of wow factor and the color scheme I’m truly in love with this look and yes workability and feel amazing but let’s be real unless you’re in the same league as Tiger and Rory you might want to admire these Beauties instead of
Actually playing them and now let’s go to the Grand Final on the ninf on the t-shot the Nike again snakes a point edging out their M2 tours just a little bit for the second shot into the green again the Nikes are hit nicely and end up actually very close to the
Flag the m2s also did a good job but just slightly long and over the green so there you have it the Nike win the iron battle and now let’s see if I can actually make my second birdie po
