Ping have gone and done it they’ve made an iron I did not even think they were capable of this is the Ping blueprint s it is strange when it comes to the world of ping it’s unlike any ping iron I’ve ever played in today’s video I’m going
To explain as I break down the technology inside this club as well as who I think it’s best suited to now one thing to note here before I take a couple shots people always ask I’m playing the dynamic gold 120 stiff shaft now as we’re talking about the
Technology packed inside these clubs to hit some shots so I’ve got a flag here at 130 yards we’re going to go pitching wedge first here now looking down at this club to me is so very UNP likee in the fact the top line is just so narrow narrowest I’ve ever seen very little
Offset now it does have a nice big wide face to it and that’s going to give you a little bit of confidence but this is definitely an iron suited towards a lower handicapper’s eye shot one oh I hit that one pretty good you can see that Peak height nice and high ping
Says that these irons launch higher than even the I 59s their predecessors I would say they’re as high launching as anything I’ve ever seen adding to that descent angle which is very Steep and some nice spin numbers these things stop on a dime out on course I was sucking it
Back with an 89 pitching wedge that’s not something I normally do that ball was sucking back off the front of the green ball speed there was nice my club head speed there was 82 the ball speed was 99 My Back Spin was 7758 we can actually do better than that I think I
Probably hit that one just a smidge low on the club face we’ll look at it the carry was 129 the total was 131 if we look at the contact yes it was just a little low just a little toe side let’s see if we can improve that but a pretty
Forgiving result but that is a testament to the Forgiveness built into this fully forged players cavity back you’ve got a lot of weight moved here towards the toe as well as the bottom and in fact when you get into the four five and six irons there’s some technology there that’s
Even different from this but we’ll get there when we get there let me hit shot two here oh I caught that so nice maybe too good you can see it’s a little left of the green oh yes Club speed was 82 but look at that ball speed
102 that contact felt so nice the back’s been a little low there 7730 carried 32 rolled out to 134 so nice pop there on of this one the feeling of these clubs is just so so very good though it’s as good as any Japanese forged iron I’ve ever played so
So very surprising from ping I never thought ping would have this kind of feel to it we going to hit one more can’t believe we missed the green there so we got to do better that’s coming right down the Shute again look at that stopping power
Roll out to 127 on a 125 carry Club head speed was 82 ball speed 97 back SP a little better there 8136 again kind of hit that a little low on the club face according to the GC quad but boy did it ever feel good and
That landed in a very good spot we got a nice crack for birdie there now getting back to the fuel of these clubs what’s great about what Ping did here is that you’re not sacrificing the durability club for that nice buttery feel ping used a type of Steel
8620 this steel gives you those soft feeling properties yet it’s more durable so you’re not going to get as many Nicks from bag chatter out of these ping blueprint s iron that’s really nice I’m going to move on to the seven iron here now this seven iron still retains the
Same construction as that pitching wedge like I said it changes when you get to the six iron but in the seven iron it’s going to be the same again just a beautiful look absolutely Ely beautiful look down at a dress that profile is just so
Nice oh I pulled it look at that that is going to illustrate exactly why you’ve got to have some good ball striking because you will pay the price that went a long way that went 172 but not in the direction I was looking for it carried
160 by the way and that’s what I was hoping for so those other extra yards was roll out spin a little little low there 4831 Club head speed was 84 ball speed was 114 yeah let me show you where on the club face we hit that
One not horrible but you can see my path here it was closed coming in and I paid the price there so for that feel for those player characteristics like shot shaping trajectory control you are going to sacrifice forgiveness out of these ones at least when it comes to Left
Right dispersion you’ll lose yards to if you don’t strike it near the middle that one there should illustrate that point because that one was off the toe really good result but I definitely lost yardage compared to what I normally hit just so you know with my normal
Clubs 170 is kind of the carry that I expect now my clubs are going to be a couple degrees stronger lofted in fact we’re going to talk about ping Lofts here in just a second but when it comes to that shot we had a club head speed of
85 ball Speed 110 the backman better number there 5584 carried 153 total 161 let’s look at that strike that’s going to be off the toe look at that again a little bit better in terms of higher up on the club face but missing the center
By just a I don’t know what is that in real life a quarter of an inch an eighth of an inch I don’t know it’s not much really we lost a considerable amount of distance there all in all pretty good results but it just goes to show you you’ve got
To have good contact with these clubs now I mentioned loft there and that’s something that I love that ping does they continue to do it here with the blueprint s these clubs are going to be a more modern Loft in the players category there’s certainly not a pressed
Loft but there is a power spec where you can move it about two degrees stronger and there is a more traditional retrospec where you can move that Loft about 2 degrees weaker all right so if used to playing The Lofts of old you’ll appreciate that retro spec but I think
Most people are probably going to choose the normal spec here and again I’m not hitting these clubs as far as I hit my normal clubs these are going to be clubs for someone that generates a little bit more Club head speed than I do shot
Three here though I want to catch one in the middle I don’t know if I’ve done that yet in all these shots might have done it there did pull it just a little bit are we going to hold the green no we didn’t hold the green but better contact
In general Club speed 85 ball speed 115 Back Spin 55 33 carried 162 rolled out to 166 when it hit the Fringe there let’s look at that contact yeah as you can see that was more in the middle so nice stats there did miss the green so I
Got to take one more because I don’t want to end on that and then we’re going to move on to that five iron and show you probably the Co piece of technology inside these irons that’s going to be a good one that’s how I like to
Finish woo so I would say about five yards less than my current clubs which again are about two degrees stronger than these clubs maybe one degree two degrees so distance is going to be good for this category of Club but it’s not going to blow you away and again that’s
Not what people are looking for on of this club they are looking for something like that though look at that backspin now we’re looking good there 6,000 RPM on the button my club head speed there 85 ball speed 115 it carried 161 total 168 and this is the type of contact I
Like to see well it shows a little low here but I would say it was I don’t know maybe that’s off just a little bit I think this is reading a little low here on our GC quad today that was pretty darn good and it was definitely right
There in the middle all right we’re going to move on to the five iron and show you something pretty special I’m going to set that flag at well we’re giving ourselves a optimistic goal there at 180 yard let me show you this though so hopefully the camera can pick it up
If not we’ll put a closeup there on screen for you and what we’re looking at here is where ping has removed some weight they call this a Precision pocket so they move some of that weight down to the bottom as well as towards the toe that’s going to increase the moment of
Inertia and increase the trajectory you get out of these clubs again especially on low Center hits but it optimizes the center of gravity for these clubs these are going to make the four five and six little easier to hit than again clubs that are sitting and living in this
Category five iron in hand not quite a butter knife but again love the look of that thing down at a dress I’d say it’s a little longer than some blades still the face looks decent size to me it’s not like those cobras that Ricky fer was playing or anything like
That I think it was a pretty good one at least for me with a five Ron look at that Peak height again way up in the air and we got the distance I hit the right side of the green there but we got the distance Club head speed was 88 ball
Speed was 118 the Back Spin 4852 that’s a good number with a five iron I think carried 171 about what I was expecting hoping for maybe 176 or something but I’ll take that and 182 it finished so not bad and let’s take a look at that okay that was a
Pretty good strike there pretty darn good strike I was just a little open there two degrees my face came in open and uh that’s why we hit the right side of the Fringe but we did hit that smack dab in the center of the club face that felt nice I’m really
Impressed with the peak height that I get out of the four five and six irons and it’s in no small part to that technology there where they removed some of that weight and shifted it around kudos to Ping for that take another one here that was a m hit you could probably
Hear it on the camera but not horrible in fact very similar to the first shot let’s take a look at where that impact was as you can see Club head speed was 86 ball speed 116 you can see the spin was different there 4188 still got the same exact carry
171 so that’s really surprising actually and look at that you can see it was much it’s our first one I hit towards the hosle and again a little lower on the club face than I’d like toit hit it but not a horrible result so these are going
To be a lot more forgiving than you’d expect out of a player’s iron even my bad shots aren’t horrible we lose some distance the direction suffers but they’re not horrible pretty good one there I think we should hit the green and we did for a club of this caliber something a tour
Player is going to be hitting in the hands of someone like me a mere mortal I’ll take the Forgiveness I’m getting out of it it’s not going to blow your socks off and you don’t buy these clubs for the Forgiveness like you buy other clubs but they’re going to give you a
Little something where was that strike yeah it was a pretty good one pretty good one just a little bit towards the heel but not too bad if you look at our table here now 87 mph Club head speed ball speed was 118 look at that launch
Angle really good with a club like this backspin 4750 again look at that consistency in terms of carry on three different types of strikes honestly the first and the third one were good that middle one pretty poor we still got basically the same number so that to me is really
Really surprising and again a testament to the engineers at Pingo have done something really great really special with these ping blueprint s irons highly highly recommend if you are a lower handicapper or a scratch golfer you take a look at these if you’re in the mid to high handicaps I’d probably steer clear
But put these on your list because these just might be the players irons of the year I’ve got a few more irons to test and we’ll determine that but I would say these are very very strong contenders for me I would love to even see these in
The power spec Loft to be quite honest I think I could game them some things that you don’t see here indoors that I was able to see outside in my testing you can see we’ve got a very narrow sole on these irons that promotes a really nice
Turf interaction I got to say these clubs slid right through the turf you’re going to love them especially out of the rough where they can cut right through but out of the Fairway just nice feel to these irons again I can’t say it enough they just feel so good when you strike
Them especially when you catch them in the middle but you get great feedback with all that said it’s time for me to actually rank these clubs so let’s do that now in terms of distance in this category at least I’m going to give them a four out a five really strong in terms
Of distance especially when you’re talking about the four five and six irons where you’re getting more distance than you should in terms of forgiveness I’m going to give these a four out a five again the players category in terms of forgiveness pretty darn good especially I think they really Excel on
The thin hits but again not too bad with that four five and six iron I was pleasantly surprised with what we saw there especially with the five iron in terms of workability five out of five you will be able to move these balls left and right control the trajectory
With these clubs these are truly tour quality when it comes to workability Performance when we talk about Aesthetics gosh I mean how do you not give it a five out of five looks feeling sound at the top of the top end again right up there with the best when it
Comes to feel for sure these are incredible players cavity back fully forged irons and you can feel it now when it comes to Value we’ve also got to consider the resale value of pink clubs are going to be way up there as well so overall I’m going to give them a three
Out of five they’re going to be considerably more expensive than the Wilson cavity back irons another iron I hope to try real soon going to be more expensive by a little bit than the Munos and other irons in this category but you’re going to get again a better
Resale value on of ping all all the time so I think three is a fair number there all in all here’s the score absolutely loved these irons I can’t game them for myself because I don’t hit them far enough but I sure wish I could and again
I’d love to try them in the power speec option maybe I could I hope you enjoyed this review and I’ll see you in another edition of let’s play through

Who is your role model?🍓
What hitting mat are you using?
It’s for better players than me!
I am looking forward for the i530 irons. I think this clubs will be an absolute highlight.
If someone wants to learn to improve their "player's" game on the cheap buy a set of high quality vintage forged blades . Most people don't know that Northwestern actually produced a couple of very high end club designs that were used by Tom Weisskopf, Chi Chi Rodriguez ,Gary Player, etc. If you can find the TW 276 forged Irons JUMP on them. They were originally only available to pros to promote the brand. The original Thunderbirds with the thunderbird image cut out of a blue diamond on the back are beautiful forged blades too. They are both getting really hard to find now but you can usually get them fairly cheap because most people associate NorthWestern with entry level level clubs. Ralph Maltby wrote a piece about these high end NorthWestern clubs that is a really interesting read . It took me a year to find them both and I had to reshaft and extend a couple clubs but when you hit them right there is nothing like em.
I remember Power Built too.
It would be nice to see some reviews on more DTCs and components to suit the viewers looking for quality in a budget. The Maltby TS1 IMs look great and I’ve built the original TS1s which were pretty good but the new ones look a lot nicer. Still waiting to see the review on the SMT 579 irons. Would be nice to see your take on them and how they perform.
So, these are high launching irons. What ball would you use with these? A mid flight or low flight?
No need to “cut thru the rough” with the narrow sole if we all just do like Wyndham Clark — just smash the grass down behind the ball 4 or 5 times whenever the ball lands in the rough 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
Lovely irons but only for the pure ball strikers.
If I would ever be tempted to switch, PING would be at the top of my list. However, Blueprints aren’t in my wheelhouse. What PINGs are better suited for a slow Senior swing speed?
I put these in the bag 6 – PW… may end up with the 5 iron too – still need to evaluate the BPS vs i230 for that slot. Lot more forgiving for me than I thought they would be, and I seem to be able find the middle of the face easily. These are actually helping me with my left miss. FWIW, my HC is 9.9, and I expect that drop this season. Gabe, I am wondering if you went a little flatter with lie angle and went with power spec lofts if these would work for you? They are a joy to hit!
I'm sure these are awesome. I really loved the OG blueprint irons, and I hit them pretty well, but they were way out of the price range I'm willing to pay. Not to mention, I also know that just because I can hit an iron well on the SIm, off a mat, doesn't necessarily mean it will work great for me day in and day out.
Btw, have you ever tested, or played single length irons? I have, and am thinking about going back to them for a number of reasons, the main one beinbg that I miss them. I'm asking because your reviews seem to be unbiased. I've seen some single-length reviews, but most seem very biased, basically dismissing them out of hand, and then making a video to say "see I told you they don't work".
Just to let you know the extra forgiveness is not in the 6 iron unfortunately. It only is on the 3,4&5 irons. I just purchased a set just waiting for the weather to break to try them on the course.
These felt very forgiving to me in 7i. Super consistent. Problem is I’ve gotten spoiled by mizunos lol.
Gabe. Get your hands on the i530’s! Would love to see that video. I think those will suit you as well.
How do they compare to the Mizuno Pro 243/245?
