Viktor Hovland was asked at the Arnold Palmer Invitational about the lack of Official World Golf Rankings points for LIV Players, which are currently crucial for entry into Major Championships.
Yeah I mean rankings are rankings it’s uh they’re not objective truth they’re they’re uh you know created to try to rank people the best they can and and obviously now when you you have a huge chunk of really really good players that are not getting any ranking points it
Definitely uh devalues uh that ranking um so at the end of the day I didn’t I don’t show up out here to to try to improve my world ranking I show up because I want to to win this tournament um and uh that’s it

The OWGR is corrupt, we all know why it is corrupt, and why its allowed to remain corrupt..Mark McCormack would be furious with Dawson, if he was around
There is a simple solution to all this. Keep the system in place as a way to rank everyone else(which is the majority) outside of Liv for the majors and have each major let in the top 5 (or whatever number) from Liv into the major. It's hard to rank golfers from various tours when they don't play against each other.
Let an independent International Business (arms length from any tour) rank players fairly and ethically.😀

Even the guys who benefit from the owgr nonsense are making it clear they no longer want the benefit because it’s making the ranking meaningless and reducing the value of winning a major.
He ain't wrong! The PGA is still trying to cling to the preface that they have the BEST GOLFERS IN THE WORLD as a marketing ploy…..it's clearly no longer true!
pga tour rank and file are now all in the top 100 best golfers in the world so who cares, majors, the olympics all go by OWGR points they are now just glorified pga tour events so how long will they survive
Owgr are only used for selecting fields in majors. Otherwise they are a US tool to prevent competition from all other tours. What is the PGA Tour so scared of?

He told 2 thruths very succinctly
1. The OWGR system is pretty nebulous and subjective in the way it calculates ranking points
2. Most players wouldn't be at all focused on OWGR.
Ranking points are really a side issue to most people and have, at best, only academic value to those who may care to follow their progress
