All right gang we’re back in the saddle I’m on the putting green today we’re actually talking putting go figure let’s not waste any time and dive into it today’s post or video is going to be me sharing with you the best putting tip I’ve ever received I call it the 910
Putting rule uh it’s helped me more than anything else I’ve ever thought of with putting and it’s helped more students than any other putting tip I’ve ever come up with or heard of and relayed all that good stuff so let me explain the 9010 putting rule it’s got everything to
Do with where your focus is going on any given putt I’ll explain it straight up and then we’ll dive into it in a little more detail the 910 putting rule says that when you’re inside 10 feet 90% of your mental energy should go to reading the green figuring out where the ball
Should start and how it’s going to break into the hole because inside 10 feet you have a realistic chance of making a lot of them obviously the closer to the hole the better it really is more inside six feet inside 8 feet is when you’re going
To be able to hopefully make more than half but once you’re outside 8T certainly when you’re outside 10t even at your best you’re probably not going to make half those putts or more than half of them so what needs to happen is your mental energy when you’re outside
10 feet needs to be going to not free putting making it so you will definitely make the next putt you don’t want to try so hard to make the first putt that you ruin your chance of making the second Putt and what we’ve seen through the data collected is that most golfers an
Overwhelming amount of golfers are going to three putt based on a distance or be Miss versus hitting it egregiously too far to the right or too far to the left you have 20 putts from 40 ft I guarantee you that longest putt away from the shortest putt will be bigger
Distance-wise than the furthest one right to left if you’re paying attention to all them okay so it’s really simple when you’re inside 10 feet the data suggests you can try and make it don’t go crazy don’t pound it past the hole but if you’re having a lot of speed
Misses from inside 10 feet I hate to break it to you that’s kind of a general coordination problem that’s not like a putting specific problem problem but a lot of us are three putting from longer distances that’s super common and that’s mostly in my opinion because you’re just
Not paying attention to the right stuff every percentage point of mental energy that’s going to stroke that’s going to reading the green really meticulously is not going to your speed right so if you’re outside 10 feet I want you to read the speed of the putt just as much
As you’re reading the break of the putt when I say reading the speed of the putt do what you would do from out in the Fairway how far is the actual putt is it uphill or downhill how far do we think it’s actually playing versus the total
And uh I guarantee you that’s going to help a lot if you’re three putting you need to spend more time focusing on your speed less time focusing on the stroke and the line and the break so again the 9010 putting rule use that I sure hope it helps you it helped me a
