Afternoon we got a lot to talk about a lot to talk about and RD this is your course this is your home course you’ve lived here you’re all about Mr Palmer we just did a little separate episode where you tell about some of your favorite stories give the good people a little

Tease about what they can expect in that episode well there’s a little bit of uh me Wrecking some of his equipment uh as a younger man there’s there’s some of the normal like how humble the guy was the normal stories but then there’s some of me just being a fool and admitting it

There because this is a very difficult track the last several years you’re talking minus five minus six as a winning score what did you see today soft it it almost looked like we were in Ireland it was so green and I saw some of the t- shots being hit and and they

Weren’t rolling much you know Robert can speak of it he played in the proam yesterday but it it’s playing long so it is not really firm and fast just yet but uh but the rough is really thick I played at TPC or not at TPC I played at

Over the copper head course yesterday in proam and the rough was like lettuce it was thick just like it is at Bay Hill so it’s it’s gonna it’s going to be playing it’ll be playing tough but long and RG you played in a proom on Monday

Correct uh at Bay Hill uh what did you make of the course playing it it’s long and now part of it is that it’s long the other part is that I’m short as hell and I tried you know they got the young guys out there so the teas are moved all the

Way back I’m like I’m not going to move up there’s people watching I’ll go back man I hit some good drives and then just had to take the head cover off five wood Three Wood five wood holy cow it was just brutal on me but I had a great

Group a great time and and I I I agree with Eddie that they are it’s a little wet drives aren’t releasing greens are very Lush not that fast yet but what they tend to do at Bay Hill they’ve done it every year the last handful of years

Is pull the water back dry it out it gets fast and firm on the weekend oh no doubt about that now I I thought sure Eddie because this is one of those like four or five weeks where a lot of the uh clubs in Florida will put on a big event

And I saw the seminal Pro am and it might have been the best field and I was like Tiger Woods Justin Tom I didn’t see fast Eddie how did you not get in that event yesterday I look I I would love to play in that event I I played seol once

Uh back in 1997 I would love another opportunity to play there because I I would love to let it eat down there in uh Juno Beach but uh but hey someday maybe I’ll get a maybe I’ll get an invite from one of the members but it’s

It’s such a it’s such a great place I mean it’s incredible it’s crazy now Steve Scott is busy today but he uh tweeted out Rd because Eric Van Roy and he had a great final round so he was basically done on Sunday but they had to move into Monday so he finished second

At the cognizant and he also finished really high at the seminal proam basically on the same day we’ve really never seen that before no we haven’t and and Van Roy and I thought was gonna wait around because he had there’s a chance that e root doesn’t finish well the bear

Trap always you know has doubles and triples and the Rumor was there’s helicopter ready if he was playing and it got close they could have gotten him there very quickly for the playoff they weren’t going to let him miss a playoff so uh they had one just on standby

There’s a lot of powerful members and a lot of members with helicopters at simol so yeah somebody was there ready to take care of it if if e root kind of folded down the line but it didn’t happen he played unbelievable can you imagine missing out on the playoff for 1.3 or

You know studs and he said he was completely nervous he goes I was nervous the minute I stepped on the course on Monday for that Monday finish despite the fact there were really nobody out there there was no crowds it was kind playing a Monday round but he said he was

Incredibly nervous and now he has a chance this week to do something uh that has rarely ever done that’s one back-to-back weeks on the PGA tour the last time we saw it at Bay Hill was Matt Evy in 2014 2015 do you think ecro one

Of those guys that can back it up after finishing on a Monday it’s going to be tough uh you know it’s it’s wild that so many he he was such a long shot all the long shots have won this year like uh but yeah of course he can win he’s

There’s 69 players playing this week uh he’s obviously in really good form you know winning obviously takes something out of you emotionally mentally um but you know if he plays well he’ll get he’ll get into the swing of things um but I don’t think I wouldn’t be

Surprised if if he had a really good finisher maybe even contend on Sunday with such uh a limited field this week yeah no doubt Nat by the way last week he had a really good week after winning there in Mexico so if you guys are betting on low odd guys be very very

Careful because as Fetti just said it’s been the long shots that have won almost every single week now Rd in that separate episode that we just tap with you and Arnold Palmer you talked about uh a story where basically you got in courtesy Al Palmer you had a high finish

And that set you off kind of like our defending champion this week Kirk kyama he’s five for five on Cuts this year but when he came to this event last year he was kind of a guy that we knew from the DP World Tour he traveled all over the

World just trying to get some starts he wins here and now he is a staple on the PGA tour and showing he can back it up do you think he could be a guy to go back to back I think that would be kind of a longest shot um not that he can’t

Like you said Matt everyy did it he he’s he’s certainly capable but Kama wasn’t a guy that people outside of like our realm who you know what we do is we kind of follow Golf and and have to be prepared to talk about it uh if you were

More of a casual golf fan you didn’t know who Kirk kitama was when he showed up last year at Arnold Palmer Invitational but the way he played down the stretch the great players that kind of folded on 17 and 18 how tough they played the lag putty hit from across the

Green to about one inch away is is the thing you dream of you don’t want to leave a four-footer and sit there and Shake over that um so no I wouldn’t be shocked in the least if he plays well but I I and and as we get into our picks

Uh I’m going heavy ball striking this week and I think that the the season of long shots might come to an end this week well when you’re talking about over 7400 yards a par 72 and a soft golf course you better be able to hit that

Ball and hit it straight you don’t want to lose any distance going left or right so that’s a great segue Mr Damron let’s get into our picks for the week we have five different categories if you’re new to dtl golf we divide them into and start with for first round leaders and

This maybe the most exciting section because you get to root for it on Thursday it’s but done by Thursday night and you can get off to a really good start and then you’ve got to really sweat it throughout the day so fast steady I’m going to start with you

You’ve got two names that you like this week and I got to tell you minwu Lee has been a cat that it seems like every single week including last week at the cognizant seems to show up he’s become a really good player talk to me yeah he’s he’s starting to get comfortable isn’t

He he uh he is a bomber and and you know just knowing beay Hill and how long it is and I’ve played there you know not not nearly as many times as Mr Damron but you need to hit it far you need to drive it well at at B if you can drive

It well I know all the times I’ve played there if I drive it well I’m going to play pretty well shoot a pretty good score so minw Le he absolutely bombs it finished second last week tied for second and he he just seems like he’s getting more comfortable every single

Week and just kind of comfortable under the gun right comfortable being uncomfortable and he’s just he’s a supremely talented player so I like I I think he’s going to play really well this week and then you know willly Z Willie zalatoris uh he’s kind of that

Rust is kind of come off plus 3,000 both of these on DraftKings mini was plus 3500 and will uh zator is plus 3,000 He’s Back In Contention you know he’s he’s not he’s not really rusty anymore I saw him out there today hitting balls putting he looks good he uh looked like

He gained about 10 or 15 pounds as well so uh but but it’s a good venue for his game and just the way he manages it around the golf course I think he’s going to have a good week as well I think I think he’s going to play pretty

Well yeah you can ask his CAD just how heavy he is because I was on the call in the last signature event at the Genesis when he dropped that ace at the 14th hole and he won a car for himself and for his caddy and did the whole jump on

Legs around which I would do exactly the same damn thing now RG let me come over to you because Jake knap is starting to become a household name he wins two weeks ago in Mexico then last week he gets to play with Rory maoy the first

Couple of days and all Rory said was this kid could be a superstar out here that talk to me that is High Praise coming from somebody Roy maroy and when you’re competitive guy like maroy is you don’t want to give a lot of compliments you want to talk about what dogs they

Are or at least think it but uh you know a guy that was a bouncer in Costa Mesa at a bar a couple years ago you’ve gotta like those uh those kind of stories and the reason I’m going with Jake knap one he’s the hot hand of course we know that

But but he is hitting it better than anyone right now not named Scotty Sheffer frankly he at at Mexico where he won outside the anomally of the final round where he only hit two Fairways he hit more greens more Fairways than anyone the first three days and then the

Same thing at PJ National last week just didn’t quite make the putts down the stretch but hit it so good was hitting every Green I think he only missed a couple fairies couple Greens on Sunday so yeah I like Jake knap on this course because this unlike PJ National which is a tough

Course this course with the rough being so deep and the greens are going to be very firm is going to be a an important ball striking week and like I said nobody striking It Better Than Jake naap there at plus 4,000 and then Christian bade note you know you wouldn’t think um

He did finish well he finished second to Nick Dunlap he got first place money at American Express that’s nice because Nick Dunlap was an amateur but at plus 5500 I know something that uh some people don’t know he’s a member at Bay Hill so Christian bazen hot is a nice

Little to slide under there a guy that yeah most people don’t know but yeah he’s got he’s got a member number I’m gonna charge some drinks to him this week I gotta be honest with you I sent a u I sent a note to my club because For

The First Time uh once I saw Jake knap play I realized what the guys at my club feel like every time that I teed up with them with the just the muscles bulging out when I hit the flowing hair yeah I mean the same thing yeah it’s it’s it’s embarrassing that

Guy that you like I actually looked at him uh for a couple of different plays for myself this week ludvig obber as I was pounding over the head two weeks ago about his name uh but you like him to kind of show Patrick Klay hey the young

Cat is out here you’re up well we’ve got the deep rough and we’ve got a long golf course aberer is maybe uh the best driver on tour not named Rory mroy great driver he h it actually longer and straighter than Patrick Klay off the tea um he has finished in his last events

Ninth second and 19th so he’s playing nice now the one thing that has me scratching my head a little bit is possibly uh he he’s more a POA Putter and that’s that’s what they play over in Sweden mostly that’s what he was doing well at out on the west coast but I

Remembered kentley’s also a West Coast guy he’s not a Bermuda greens putter typically so um he has had some final round woes has kentley he’s got 76 75 72 his last three Sundays so he’s been kind of struggling to close the match out so I have been I really like this ludig

Obber I believe you’re looking at a future number one in the world and then Europeans for some reason have always had a good time at Bay Hill I don’t know why there’s been American winners the last three years but then uh Europeans knocking on the door and then before

That I think there’s a run of four years in a row where Europeans had won and you know again we got to hit Fairway they call Tommy Fleetwood Fairway Jesus he’s a great driver of the golf ball and he plays well here at Bay Hill two top 10

Uh 17 and in uh 2021 also he had a third place in 2019 and and H plays decent here because I like him over over Max hom but H hasn’t quite putted Max hom golf yet he just hasn’t made the putts hasn’t had the good finishes just yet

This season so I’m liking Fleetwood over um overom and then finally Jordan spe and you’d think there’s runs where Jordan is just drives it all over the place and that wouldn’t work here but for some reason beill and Jordan just go together he’s played here twice he’s

Finished tied for fourth twice and over morawa um you know you’d think ball striking extraordinaire I said that’s important but you know he just uh doesn’t play that well here he’s he did have a Ninth Place once but then he’s missed the cut tie for 64th the other

Times I watched him on course last year and he just didn’t seem to have the greens down so um just based on where we’re playing I’m taking speed over maral yeah it seems like there’s a lot of players big name players and certainly at the top of the leaderboard

That really struggling to get out of the gate we’re no longer getting out of the gate we’re in March this is the this is March they got to start playing well and col more Kyle was one of those guys H by the way shout out to Daniel he says I’m

Gonna ask my friends to start calling me Fairway Jesus well Daniel you’d have to hit him in the Fairway yeah for that to happen but uh by the way he’ll be hosting drivein the line on Friday I’m giving him a big time opportunity D swear to God Daniel Greer in the chat

Here had to head matchups Cameron young minus 111 over Matt Fitzpatrick he’s finished tied for 13th and tied for 10th the last couple of years he’s definitely trending up tied for fourth last week and look I looked at his major record his last seven Majors right two top

Fives and two top 10 out of the last seven Majors so I love him to play he plays tough golf courses well Bay Hill is a very very tough venue I think he’s going to play well that is I love that pick cam young over Fitzpatrick and then

You know Mr spe played here twice finished tied for fourth twice over JT JT struggled um you know last time he played and uh you know Jordan has he’s just ramping up for Augusta and His short game is as good as anyone’s in the world like if he gets like just being

Around the greens today walking out there and just seeing some of the Cabbage I mean it almost seems like how can you get this up and down Jordan spe could probably chip it in just he just has that magic around the greens I like to see him um he’s going to play well

This week uh Jordan SM minus 120 over JT and then you know Mr Young minus 111 over Mr Fitzpatrick if there uh if you’re out there and you’re looking for some other head-to-head matchups and players that play well anybody for less than a buck 50

Buck 60 I would take it his last three events here T4 he won and then last year T15 so his numbers are usually so Skyhigh they’re really hard to play but if you can find Sheffer somewhere because he’s only like plus what 650 to win the whole damn thing you can’t play

Less than plus 10,000 uh we do have a good question from the chat RDL come to you first from Brent thoughts on of being so wet and Florida in the ability to drive Bay Hill out and get that tough course we were used to wind seems light

Till Sunday to there’s a lot of different kind of bets should we look to birdies or better versus to avoid those kind of bets I would not uh if you’re going to pick the birdies are better I would still go under I think we’re getting a little bit of a false positive

I guess if you would call it that um here at Bay Hill because I’ve seen it a lot they’ve got this course uh under great control we have not had really any extreme weather whatsoever like just enough rain but we have had not so much to where it’s saturated where you can’t

Dry it out and they’ve got such good control over it that if they just take a day day and a half and don’t uh you know put any water on it it will start to Brown over it’s going to be warm it’s going to get up to 86 I’m afraid on

Saturday so yeah I would go under on the birdies Mr Palmer up there where he is he didn’t like watching guys tear his golf course up and we continue that tradition that with the course setup it’s going to be tough yeah fast Eddie when you look at

Some of the finishing scores I remember John ROM who’s now over on Liv at least I think he’s still playing golf over there on Liv but this was the type of week that a John ROM loved and maybe that’s why Scotty shefford does so well here and there are certain guys Victor

Havin backtack top 10 at this place why are certain guys when you a really really tough track why do they like it more than needing to get to minus 22 to win a golf tournament it’s a lot easier right sometimes it’s a birdie Fest a lot of guys like Brooks kepka right never

Made a ton of birdies he always liked that you know go out shoot make three birdies no no Bogies or four birdies in a in a bogey something where you don’t have to make make 10 birdies uh he’s just like that type of guy and you know

I like the players who go out and just play really steady just one after the other and Teddy Scott told me when he t uh cadd for Bubba I said what’s the difference between cading for Bubba cading for Scotty he said Scotty flushes it every single day he just he just

Flushes it and and not that Bubba didn’t but Scotty’s on another level he’s just you know it’s ridiculous how well he strikes the ball and the way feet work and stuff like that but but like a guy like Ron those highlevel players who just showed up at these tough events and

And they love just you know par as your friend at this place and uh I don’t think more than five under or six under has won the last four years so you know you go out and you play solid you you go out and you shoot a couple under one two

Under a day and all of a sudden Sunday you might find yourself in the final group yeah you got to have the right mindset there no doubt about it now there’s a lot of different depending on whether you use DraftKings or whether you use bgm a lot of different kinds of

Vets I’m doing a show called on the Range tomorrow PJ I think it’s on ESPN plus I believe and one of my Best Bets is Justin Rose top Englishman and he only has to beat two other guys plus 400 the only to beat Tommy Fleetwood and also Matthew Fitzpatrick so you can find

Some really good values and I’ll take only having to be two two other guys any day of the week so Zack I need you to put into the chat who are the other Australians in the event thoughts on Min Le plus 225 if you can give us the names

And let’s start with your top 10 just the one name cam young plus 250 why do you like him to have a really good week this week you know I said before he plays really well at tough golf courses last seven Majors you know two top fives two

Top 10 he plays difficult golf courses really really well and you know it doesn’t hurt to be 185 ball speed cruising so you got to hit it far uh you know he’s driving it well he’s playing well good good uh finished last week tied for fourth and I just I love his

Game his short game is super solid and I think he’s gonna put it together this week um I I look for a solid I thought plus 250 was a a pretty good a pretty good number for him so you know I’m gonna I’m gonna throw a few bucks on him

This week and uh you know he’s had a pretty good start to the year I think that you also have to factor in we’ve talked about a little bit but it remind you if you’re just dropping into dtl off right now when you only have 69 guys he’s only got to beat

59 other guys not 149 other guys that’s very very important when you look at some of these numbers and they may be a little bit different than what you’re used to but that is why uh let’s go to your top 10 Rd and Zach we’ll get to your question in a

Second uh your too Eric vanroy and he had a a really good week last week and then a good day on on Monday as well yeah he had a very good day Monday so he’s just playing really nicely I know in the interview after the round you

Know he shot 28 on the front nine on Sunday at PJ National and then after the round he was asked I can’t remember the interviewer is not that important is this the best golf you’ve ever played in your life and he wouldn’t commit to saying yes but he certainly wasn’t

Saying no so if if there’s a a cat coming here playing the best golf of his life and I can get a A plus 500 on a top 10 I think I’d be silly not to just sprinkle a little bit at it and then matama you know he woned Riviera

Obviously and Riviera isn’t is not like Bay Hill but it is like Bay Hill in the sense it’s ball striking course it’s not necessarily the guy that makes the most putts it is a place where you have to position your ball hit a lot of longer irons in and Hideki said I

Didn’t really hit it that good on his last round so if he hits it a little better he could dominate this whole golf tournament so again plus 360 on a top 10 for Hadi I like those odds JT Poston called it the greatest round that he’s ever seen with his two

Eyes in his career yeah the best the best and he’s plus 360 stop it that’s a great great number all right fasted let me come back over to you you think speed could compete for a win this week and you’re gonna protect that with a top top

Five yeah for sure I love uh I love Jordan this week again two top fours plays well here plays tough golf courses well again kind of like cam young he uh you know he’s had a nice start to the year kind of steady kind of ramping up

For uh for the first major of the year in about a month so I just love I I love his short game you’re going to miss greens out here the greens are going to kind of firm up get a little brown um and I just look his short game I don’t

Have to talk about how good his short game is and and he’s just you know he’s the guy when it comes to that if I have if I need to you know my life is dependent on it I’d probably pick Jordan Speed to get up and down to save my life

So uh I I love him this week uh to finish top five actually be in contention on Sunday and then uh I I think this is like you said before coach I think this is the end of the uh of the long shots this week I like I like the

Big boys are going to show up on Sunday can you imagine that scenario if your life was on the line you’re like hey Jordan dog I like being alive can you get it up 30 down 30 by the way let’s not forget his motivation should be very very high

Because the last time we saw him he embarrassed himself by signing an incorrect scorecard and being disqualified from the Genesis that was the last time we saw him he took ownership he said hey that was on me but that doesn’t happen very often you gotta believe Jordan speed’s gonna show up this week

Motivated now Rd I just put myself over that tomorrow on on the on the rain show that you’re gonna be a part of as well that I picked Justin Rose over Fleetwood and Fitzpatrick and then you got to go out here and tell me you like Fleetwood top five soes that mean Justin

Rose got a finish top three to win my bet it could happen why not I mean you know he’s got a he Justin Rose knows how to play golf he’s played around here a lot but yeah I think that Fleetwood is just playing solid golf already got a

Win on DP World Tour this year and I like him at this golf course I’ve I’ve gotten to watch him quite a bit I’ve seen the way he’s driving it right now so uh you know I just like those kind of odds for a fleet wood at at at plus 500

Um again European just down the list of guys that won and then guys that have finished second and the Europeans for some reason just love it they like that nasty uh uh you know kind of trudging around the golf course trying not to make double bogeys and they’re just a
