Xander Schauffele spoke to the media ahead of the Arnold Palmer Invitational where he was asked about his form as well as the recent controversy over how to rank players from LIV Golf w/o them receiving points from the Official World Golf Ranking.

Yeah uh been in a few I’d say a couple or a few final groups this year uh which is always the plan uh haven’t been able to sort of really get over the hump or or get myself close I should even say uh with you know six to to nine holes uh in

A tournament so um Riviera was pretty close there for for a second I should say and then uh bogey those those hard holes and uh was pretty much out of it immediately uh so yeah just just keep on keeping on is is kind of what I’m doing right now I

Mean I don’t I don’t view myself you know I think I’m really consistent and I’m I’m a really good player I I’m still searching I think to be a great player in in my own opinion that’s sort of how I view myself um getting over the hump and and winning

A little bit more is is definitely something that I believe will happen so I think the greats win often and to separate separate yourself from sort of consistent and really good players is is one thing uh best part I’d say probably the I I don’t know playing

On arie’s property seeing seeing all the fans uh seeing the the iconic umbrella um pretty wild to think about you know his last one coming in someone just told me actually in 73 I believe and you know we’re we 50 50 you know 51 years removed

From that and it still feels like he’s sort of you know not just here with us but you know everyone supports him and talks about him and he’s definitely The Talk of the Town so I think that part’s really cool about being here and hardest part about the property is pretty easy

There’s water on on several holes and uh when the wind picks up a little bit uh it gets a bit intimidating out there yeah I mean I think it’s great that I I definitely saw that Walken got an exemption in the Masters I think that’s you know very well deserved um supposed

To be a sort of worldwide it’s known to be a worldwide event and uh global global deal uh of a major and all of them are to be honest so it’s good to see the top Chan out there um to be honest I mean I I think the criteria was

Sort of set in front of them and they you know they did everything in their power to to get to get on with with owgr and it seems that they’re they haven’t met the criteria I mean I I haven’t read too much too much of it to be completely

Honest but it seems that they they’re not seeing sort of eye to eye on you know making an exception to to make live uh have world ranking points so I’m not sure as to why they pulled pulled their their application for it but it is what

It is fortunately I’m on I’m I’m on the other side of the fence I’m definitely one of the players and um yeah I just try to play really well and collect as many world raking points as I can so whatever whatever that may look like uh

This is sort of the structure it is right now within the owgr so um it it just seemed like it was a pretty clear thing uh to start sort of how it was going to look and unfortunately they didn’t meet meet meet the criteria but the the Liv tour definitely has

Really good players and players that are in the top 10 or top you know 25 in the world uh and there there’s there’s many of them so uh they’re just sort of unranked right now but you know to me I do believe they’re they’re definitely top ranked players in the world

  1. The propaganda machine at work. Criteria, what criteria? Just more BS to ensure some of the best players in the world not allowed to play because they are on a competing tour. Oh well kind of reminds one the the Negro leagues, the only difference is LIV players have most of the money.

  2. OWGR is a joke….every player knows it. OWGR points are now irrelevant and the PGA may soon be along with the Majors, Ryder Cup and President's Cup as the best in the world are not there playing each other and EVERYONE knows it. Fans of golf worldwide are getting shafted by the PGA and it's mates, It's an 'Own Goal' moment, Golf and Fans are the losers and the PGA and OWGR will soon be as well.

  3. pga tour players are laughing now they have less competition and more prize money i wonder how that happened it must be because everyone is watching the pga tour now, tv deals, sponsorship dollars, all the highest ranking players in the OWGR monahan and tiger remind of a famous quote, to be led by liar's is to ask to be told lies
