FootJoy have taken a massive Gamble and completely redesigned the bestselling golf shoe of recent years with this the brand new FootJoy Pro SLX so why FootJoy taking such a big bet during my first time in Vegas I remember having the whole blackjack table cringe when I
Split a pair of tens a cardinal rule of blackjack strategy is never split such a strong hand if it ain’t broke don’t fix it but will the allnew pro SLX be able to replicate the phenomenal popularity of the previous incarnations I’ll share my thoughts on that a little bit later
But first I’m going to tell you what you need to know about these new shoes because there’s some obvious and some not so obvious changes to this design which could mean that these may not be the shoes for you if you think they are for you then I’ve included links in the
Description along with any discount so you can hopefully pick them up for less than retail price the foot Droid Pro SLX gives the range a new sporty look look it might appeal to some but perhaps not to all those who are a fan of the previous iterations the hill now has a
Far more aggressive design and has this textile material instead of leather and you now have an external TPU heel counter to help locking your heel at the rear of the shoe the new Boulder color schemes seem to follow the popular hyperflex and fuel models but there are more toned down versions available in
White black and navy now I’ve put this new outso design through some pretty harsh conditions well they’re St on the camera I don’t even care so I’ll let you know shortly how well they coat but you can see here this new racetrack inspired design doesn’t really look like anything
Else on the market currently and certainly doesn’t look like the old version you can see in the middle here you’ve got their new 3D X-Wing wonder if they run that name past the lawyers Mickey Mouse isn’t going to be happy just what the Dickens is going on here
Fo Joy are still using the pittards lever which is nice and soft that’s the same as what was on the previous versions personally I am a fan of this new sporty look but I’d love to read in the comments down below what you think so given that the looks of the shoe has
Changed so much what about the Comfort levels is this an area that FootJoy have managed to improve FootJoy are employing a duw midsole first of all you’ve got their FTF plus which stands for finely tuned foam and then that’s being combined with FootJoy stra foam which is
A much softer density foam fo jooy make a point to highlight that their midsole Foams have been designed specifically for golf they’ve not been designed for another SPO and then retrofitted into a pair of golf shoes the Firma FTF plus phone gives you the support where you
Need it in the shoe and then the Strat of foam increases the cushioning in other areas the shoe also uses a removable can’t get it out now third party insole or fited so you’ve got an alal light Impressions fit bed there and this means that you are
Getting a nice thick insole which adds to the level of comfort and is a lot more comfortable than the majority of more standard insoles that you see in most golf shoes now I can’t get it back in that’s what she said the carbon version actually gets a slightly plusher
Softer version of that insole but it’s not a huge difference when I compared the two side by side the mids cell foam and the inso work well together giving a nice comfortable soft feeling underfoot now it’s not the softest feeling underfoot but that’s by Design foot Joy
Don’t want it to be too soft because that then sacrifices un stability which is a key aspect of this shoe in terms of fit I found that I had to size down half a size from my regular shoe size which is a uk9 and this still felt like I had
A decent amount of room at the end of my toes it’s also not a particularly narrow fit but if you do have a wider foot then there is a dedicated wide fit version that I’d recommend you go for instead there’s also a lot more padding in the
Heel and Ankle area compared to the previous iteration the result is a fit that keeps the back of your foot much more locked in I’ve got quite sensitive and bony ankles and I always suffer when shoes actually are too high and start rubbing on my ankles and I could
Certainly feel the material on my ankles but it never actually caused any issues or blisters when I was out walking on the co the tongue of the new version is much much thinner as well there is a lot more padding on this old previous version not that that’s an issue in
Terms of comfort I didn’t really experience any discomfort with the laces resting too tightly on top of my foot I wore these shoes straight out of the box and I didn’t suffer from any blisters whatsoever overall I would say that the regular Pro SLX is a more comfortable
Shoe compared to the previous Pro and the new prox carbon is slightly more comfortable but it’s not a huge improvement over the previous version of the carbon part of what made the PRL such a great shoe was the fact that it performs so well on the course giving
Almost as much grip as a pair of regular Spike shoes so how does the new SLX stack up my initial reaction when seeing this power tracks outso was where has all the traction gone from the middle of the shoe surely these aren’t going to give enough grip but when you compare
Them to the previous version so by side there’s actually not that much in the middle of the old shoe so you’re not really losing a great deal from the new one interestingly you can also see when they’re side by side that fjy have significantly reduced the number of
Conical grip elements on this out soole compared to the older previous version now that doesn’t necessarily mean that they’ve significantly lost traction if anything I say they actually these probably providing even more grip than before the new X-Wing design helps provide a stable PL platform and pushes
The forces out to the extremities of the out soole where all of the traction is now located in this RAC track design in the regular version this X-Wing shape is made from a slightly softer TPU material and in the carbon version well it’s made from carbon fiber FootJoy have also
Introduced these new TPU fins to help your foot from sliding out sideways when you’re putting Force Through the showe they really kind of dig into the turf and offer that result resistance when you add up all of the changes and elements of this new shoe you get a stable golf shoe that performs
Surprisingly well out on the golf course when I was speaking with the FootJoy team at the launch event for these shoes they called these shoes a performance sparler shoe and so you should expect similar levels of traction compared to a show now that’s something that I’ve
Always been wary of but after using these in very wet conditions here in the UK I’ve got to say that they stood up to the billing I didn’t slip once out on a very wet and muddy golf course two nice new features also with this redesign
Outso is that first of all they’re less likely to get clogged up with loose grass and mud compared to the previous versions and also FootJoy have made the very front and the very back of the outsole with a rubber material instead of a TPU which you find here in the
Middle which means that you’re going to get some additional grip when walking on smoother surfaces such as pavement or in the clubhouse after your round from a stability standpoint I was really impressed with these shoes that is a key focus of this whole new redesign and
Well I think they’ve hit the nail on the head my preference is to have a more stable golf shoe so I prefer to go for these new carbon versions which give the extra level of stiffness and stability compared to the regular versions but if your preference isn’t to spend the
Extra3 30 or perhaps you’ve got a slightly slower swing speed and so you’re not necessarily putting as much force through the golf shoes you don’t need all this extra stability to to stop the shoe from twisting and turning then the regular Pro SLX is still a nice and
Stable golf shoe just not quite as stable as the carbon just because this one is £0 more doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the better shoe for you as with all my shoe reviews to test out how they handle very wet conditions I pour 300 mL of water over both the upper as well as
The bottom half of the laces now although they did let in a small amount of water around the laces as these don’t have a gusset the tongue does sit very close to the foot so they performed a lot better than many other golf shoes and only let in a very small amount of
Water through the bottom of the tongue on the course when testing them in some pretty harsh wet conditions the shoe kept my feet nice and dry so you shouldn’t have any problems there at £60 or $190 for the regular version and £190 or $120 for these carbon versions
They’re not cheap but but they are a premium product and I think they’re priced fairly if you’re the type of golfer who likes to get the best deals on their gear then make sure you sign up to my monthly newsletter where I share the biggest and best discounts around
I’ve included a link down in the description from a performance and Comfort View I would say that the new SLX are an improvement on the previous PRL from a looks point of view FootJoy might not like me for saying this but I don’t think I can say the same I like
This new sporty design but it’s so radically different to what’s come before I’m not sure they had the same broad shelf appeal when the proel first launched in 2016 it was a breath of fresh air in that it was one of only a few performance-based spikeless golf
Shoes at the time that had Mass Market appeal it didn’t matter who you were young to old from Pros to hackers everyone liked the prosl fast forward 8 years to now and well there’s far more competition in the Footwear space in terms of performance design comfort and the sheer number of
Brands so foot Joy decided to rip up the Playbook and start from scratch that was always going to be a risk let’s see if it pays off let me know in the comments if you think foot Joy can make lightning straight twice if you’re not sold on
These sporty new looks and you’re just curious as to what else is out there then watch this video right here where I run through the top traditional golf shoes in 20124 and of course make sure you hit that like button and subscribe to my channel if you haven’t already

Great review Kevin once again. Like your polo shirt care to provide details please. Also new firmware has been released for the shotscope x5 watch which shows course layout. Shoes a bit pricey
Love the old ones, hate the look of these
I love the old ones sooo comfy. The new ones look good I think, just not sure about the high bit on the back it look likes it comes up too high but I will try them on when I see a pair and make my mind up then, Great review thanks
Hate the look of these. Not as bad as the FJ Fuel, but the old pro SL’s were CLEAN.
I don't mind the look of these I actually like them alot as long as they are comfy they work for me great review well done cheers from Canada
The SLX outsole is soooo ugly. The shoe looks bulky and chunky.
I see “snow boot” and not golf shoe.
Love the look of these footjoys, and they tick all the boxes for year-round wear in the UK, but unfortunately I'm not paying £180+ for them
These are clogs. They are stable but they are freaking huge and makes you almost 2 inches taller which now changes the angle and posture to the golf swing
Nice shoes. Can you review Ecco sho? Maybe compare and contrast with Footjoys?
I have two pairs of pro sl shoes and my only criticism is the heel was too low so it’s a win from me. 🙏🙏👌
Old shoe, at least on my feet, never lasted long with the sole coming adrift at the front in less than a season not once but twice. So I would be wary of buying Footjoy again
I’ve worn Footjoy for years mostly Dryjoys absolutely love those that said with these new Footjoy shoes. I find them bigger in size than they used to be. I wear a 12 medium I almost need an 11 or 11 1/2 because they are so much bigger I don’t know what their doing but they really need to get a hold of their sizing problems!
Hate these, they’ve got this one wrong
The central flat sections are rock hard and will go bald in a month, making these shoes a major slip hazard on that hard blue plasticky ring.
