You just talk about the uh the overall difficulty out there yeah I I mean Bay Hill every day always gets harder no matter what year um you know I Saw the Rains going away on Sunday so we’re going to expect it to get firmer and faster um you know the last couple holes
I blew them blew putts from about 30 to 40 ft about six seven feet by and that’s just the adjustments you have to make out here uh you know when you’re below the hole try to take advantage and when you’re above the hole just be patient
And um did a really good job of staying patient today I mean I had a bunch of really good shots that just ended up in fringes um you know a couple shots that I thought were Flagg that ended up to about 30t just behind the hole but they’re just getting firm firm and
Bouncy um so you know there uh there’s some there’s some shots out there right now that uh I’m I was very happy with walking out of there with par talking about playing boring golf sometimes and they need to do that what kind of discipline does that take uh yeah a lot
I mean especially you know if you make a couple Bogies early you want to try to press and you just can’t do that out here um you know I I had a couple of balls in the middle of the Fairway where um I had a couple mud balls on my second
Shots and just kind of you know one on the par five on the back on uh 12 and just had to find a way to get it up around the hole and get myself the best look at trying to make birdie and so it’s just uh you know when you’re uh
When you’re hitting irons off of some holes and you’re expecting normally to hit wedges in and you know you’re wanted to maybe have a birdie look just take what you can get you know whether it’s 20 ft or or whatever it is and uh you know maybe make a couple bonus pots uh
Coming in you when you review the round how do you how do you balance uh remarkably going bogey free on a day like this with with maybe not taking advantage of the five like you yeah you know I think um you know I I feel like I
I didn’t really hit any bad shots on those par fivs I just kind of didn’t just didn’t add up to birdies um so you know obvious viously could have been something you know pretty low and special but you know I did plenty on some of the other harder holes that I’ve
Got no complaints cameras showed you at least a couple of times kind of with a half smile on your face shaking your head probably in disbelief does one Stand Out above the others yeah it’s just you know the wind’s switching around a little bit it’s getting warmer
Um you know on 15 I hit an 180 yard 9 iron on 16 I hit a 225 yard six iron um and then on 18 I I think I hit a three kind of like a sought off wedge like 160 and it’s just all of those were in
Different directions but the but the wind’s just kind of varying you know off the side so um and I think that kind of goes to the boring golf side is I’m just picking some very conservative targets um and you know the ones that happen to get pushed over to the hole you just
Take them what do you love about this kind of golf assuming you do yeah I know I do I mean it’s uh it’s they’re long weeks for sure but um I think the patience aspect of it I’ve always has been known for my ball striking which obviously helps when you’re playing a
Really tough Golf Course um you know just hit to 30 ft all day you know try to uh maybe get a couple that get in there closer maybe make a bonus putt or something like that and try to take advantage of the par fives um you’re going to make mistakes that’s just the
Reality of of a hard Golf Course like this um so if you make Bogies don’t try to press when you go out for your weekend rounds what’s the mindset you you can’t fire at flags all the time as we’ve been talking about so how do you how do you
Go about the task yeah I mean I’ve had years here where I’ve shot 150 on the weekend and I’ve moved up so it’s it’s just staying patient um you know It’s a Grind I mean a lot of times on you know regular tour events you know you maybe
Have four or five birdie holes and really out here it’s just the par fivs and uh you know with the pins tucked on some holes uh you know if you happen to push one or pull one over towards where the flag is you just take it take it uh
When you get it quantify the uh the difference between when you first came back at Bahamas to where you are now can you quantify the progress you’ve made is it faster yeah I I think Bahamas we really were just trying to see if we
Were on the right page and I knew that I was despite the scores um now I’m comfortable with what I’m doing and I think you know like I said yesterday is simplify is basically kind of the word that I’m using with everything you know the putting is very simple the ball
Striking is very simple I’m not trying to time things up with my hand I’m doing doing a lot of um kind of big muscle using my big muscles as opposed to timing it up so um Everything feels really good but I mean yeah Bahamas yeah
It was I always tell people it was fun getting my first top 20 back in my first event but um but yeah no it’s uh it’s been a it’s been a nice Trend obviously so far but um more importantly regardless of the result uh I feel more
Comfortable as every week yeah no you got to start somewhere right exactly go from there so the game probably never feels simple but yeah fairly uncomplicated yeah well I I the game is what you think it’s simple you’re wrong but um you know I I would
Say what I’m working on is very simple um I would say that the things that I’m doing are very um I know when I miss it a shot or miss it a putt or a chip I know exactly what I’m doing whereas before I maybe could have gotten away
With being off and having a miss it turn out great and now I exactly you know I just know more about my body know more about my game now and that just part of having eight months off and not having any tournament golf to really um go out
And test it well where and when did you Embrace difficult golf I have no idea to yeah I know I I you know I 2020 uh during Co I got a spot in the US Open they took the top 10 guys off at corn fairy um and I end up finishing Sixth
And I’ve had a pretty good run in the majors ever since so um I have no idea but I think it’s partially just how my game works and and just being a ball Striker and I’m just going to have more looks than everybody um which is going to lead to less
Mistakes given given given Rivier and and the chance you gave yourself was your excitement level any different coming here yeah I think I I’m I’m just you know I told Joel on 18 it’s it’s nice for this to feel normal again uh Riviera was kind of like uh getting my
Feet wet again this this um you know you’re I’m more comfortable with being uncomfortable if that makes any sense uh being under pressure um being up and around the lead um so it’s uh it’s been a process but I think uh you know the more I play the more comfortable I’m
Going to get with what I’m doing sweet
