W W And we’re live from Hong Kong at the beautiful Hong Kong golf club and it’s day one Waco Neeman and Crushers GC leaving jeda as individual and team champion and it’s a beautiful day here in Hong Kong welcome to Club 54 pre-round show I’m your host Christian
Crosby and joining me is suan hang and Dom Boule Dom I know we’re in your hometown I’m just waiting for that house party invite that I didn’t get yet but we’re going to talk about that offline suan we’re not going to squeeze in his out it’s too small we we could figure
Something out though we live in rabbit hunches in Hong Kong soan I know you call Asia your home as well so how special is it that we’re here in Hong Kong today I’m not far from Hong Kong I’m three and a half hours in Singapore
And you know we love golf in Asia it’s a big golfing Community out here and and Hong Kong as we said you know it’s it’s such a country with so much culture so much tradition great food uh players have loved coming here in the past and a
Lot of good comments this week so far but Dom how cool is it to have a home game at your home club and how good is it for golf here in Hong Kong well I mean this whole process of getting lived to Hong Kong started about
A year ago and to be honest with you I never thought it would happen but here we are and it is massive golf is like you said golf is big in Asia golf is big in Hong Kong we have over 60,000 golfers and we don’t have that many facilities
And uh to have 54 the best players in the world for them to watch is incredibly exciting yeah front row seat pretty cool uh this golf club has so much history I know it’s been here since 1889 can you talk us a little bit about that yeah the club was established in
1889 in fact the original site was in Happy Valley within the racetrack and then we moved to Deepwater Bay it was nine holes deep waterer Bay is still part of the golf club on the island it’s still nine holes but this site here we got this we leased a land from the
Government in 1911 with the old course and then we built the Eden course and the new course subsequently but it’s 54 whole facility it’s a it’s a great Club it’s a friendly club and uh yeah I’m H I’m happy it’s here well you got some home course knowledge so I want to pick
Your brain a little bit what are some of the keys to being successful on a golf course like this one well especially the front nine you’ve got to drive the ball well because a lot of tree line holes with dog legs so being on The Fairway is
Key but it’s more of a second shot goal course the front nine greens are very much pitched from back to front so try and leave it under the hole don’t even be pinned high if you’re possible because where whichever side you’re putting from the ball’s going to break
Quite a lot and it could trickle you know five six seven feet P leave yourself a difficult popup yeah it is certainly an iron play golf course I’m really excited to watch some of the players play this I am very excited too so and listen I know you’re a humble guy
And you’re not going to want to do this right now but off camera he told us a little bit about humble come on he told us a little bit about his success here playing in Hong Kong I want you to tell the fans who may not know about some of
The things you’ve accomplish here come on D talk your talk uh unfortunately I never won the Hong Kong open uh I’ve my best finish was fourth in ‘ 96 I had a sixth place in 95 I’ve won a few a couple of Hong Kong PJ championships
Around here but uh I do hold the course record on the Eden course which is the front nine of the composite course which is what we’re playing uh it’s 10 hes on the Eden uh which is the front nine and then the back nine the first eight holes
Are the new course and then the last hole the 18th is the 18th of the Eden course and back in around 95 I shot a 62 in a tournament but I’ll tell you me sums up me and my mentality as a golfer in that round of 62 on the ninth
Hole out of 15 20 foot putt for birdie and I rode it a foot pass and I backhanded and missed and made a bogey and uh yeah listen we’re going to take the positives out of what you just said you did say the front Night play the
Hardest and you hold the course record for that so that’s pretty darn impressive don’t be so hard on yourself you’re amazing I was hard on myself I can assure you all right so this course actually has multiple courses if I’m not 54 H three courses okay so three courses
Here there goes the the one on the on the green there Dom take us through this so that’s the first toe of the composite course right which is where where we’re going to start shortly and that behind there is the old course that’s the 17th Fairway and then you go further along
You can see on the left side of the road is the front nine and then the rest on the right is the back nine that was the course that was built in 1911 wow I love the hills that are just behind the backdrop there great hiking country Hong
Kong is great hiking country that’s good Dom have any of the the players approached you or some of the caddies approached you trying to get some inside scoop on the not just this week the last three or four weeks I’ve had cadis come up to me a couple of players but uh yeah
They’ve asking me you know where to be careful where to hit it and uh I always say uh the par threes here they’re not long but especially hoes five and eight just play for the middle of the green don’t go for the pins especially if they’re tuck leave yourself a 20 footer
If you make the birdie great if you make p it’s a good score we got an image of you in action giving some advice here what what were you saying here that was uh Tuesday I believe uh with Henrik Stenson on the 16th green and I said to
Him if the pin’s back and you’re pin High left everybody misses it left because it it does slope from left to right but it doesn’t there’s not as much break as the players see but when he tried it it broke more than it should have and he looked at me and he’s like
Yeah yeah yeah great great advice got to love that right there I love the technique of your your your exper there you look really intense right there who do you think Dom who do you think is a good chance of winning this week well there’s so many great players you know
Sergio’s played here three times he’s had success here cam Smith almost won the Hong Kong open last year pter hter one in 2010 there’s a lot of great players who are here but guy who’s hitting it straight uh you don’t have to be long although I think Wakim nean
After his round on Sunday when I watched him I mean that’s some one of the best rounds I’ve seen in a long long time if he’s playing the same and there’s no reason he won’t be playing like that he’s going to be hard to beat He’s the

Three of the first tournament I mean it seems like he’s been on a hot streak since the end of last year’s Liv golf tournaments and hasn’t stopped since well you know he won before he joined live he won one of the most iconic venues on the PGA tour B just one that
Separates all the players now since joining Liv he’s continued that he’s feeling more and more comfortable every week but the most important part and the scary part for his for all the other guys the other 53 guys out here trying to beat him he said he’s playing
Probably the best golf of his entire life so at his age he doesn’t know how good he can be yet you know if you get into your 30s 35 40 and you’re still playing professional golf at a very high level you know the best you can be
You’ve been there before he doesn’t know how good he can be yet that’s kind of scary so is is it too soon or safe at this point to say he’s the guy to beat right now in professional golf he’s the guy to beat now there’s an argument to
Be made be made there for a number of others because it’s a short sampling size three wins in the last couple months but right now in professional golf I don’t think any of the other guys would say he’s not the guy to beat week in and week out and when he gets to
Augusta I I guarantee he’s going to be on that short list of favorites we got some numbers on the board here Jerry and I always love the breakdown from you you always give me some insight I had no idea about so let’s take a look at these
Numbers on CL 54 pre-round show Jerry what you got that’s uh those are all Strokes gain categories against the other 53 players in live golf that is completely data driven against the same exact guys playing under the same exact conditions week in and week out now it’s
A small sampling size through just our first three events but first and short approach second driving off the tea Strokes gained off the tea and driving uh that combines distance and accuracy and what you make from there first and short approach when you hit it as far as
He does you’re going to have a lot of short approach shots in not a lot of long approach shots the approach medium and the approach long those will get better through time again that’s a very small sampling size he is a dynamic ball Striker there’s no way there’s 39 guys
Better with a four five six iron than he is so that those are pretty pretty impressive but the scoring clubs off the tea short approach and around and on the greens if he cleans it up on the greens and around the greens which he is currently below middle of the pack below
Average he cleans those up a little bit then he you know nobody in golf is ever truly unbeatable when they’re playing when they’re playing their best there’s other guys who could play their best and catch them maybe tiger was considered unbeatable when he was playing his best he’s getting close to that conversation
Right now when he’s playing his best he’s going to be really difficult to beat I want to talk about the team game and team Crusher specifically before we do I know you don’t like doing this but I absolutely love doing this do you predict do you predict Waco Neeman will
Be at the top of the leaderboard at the end of today no you know what’s funny this this course has a lot of tournament history you were just talking to and suan about it um you look therefore you can create some analytics for what is important to do here and do well in
Order to play well Dom has experience doing it firsthand but when you look at the analytics and I love the analytics we have an incredibly bright team of people behind us from Champions data that put this together um the analytics promised me that Paul Casey and and uh uh Brendan singers
Uh he was right here a minute ago anyway those two are Bren and grace are going to be in the final group on on Sunday promise me that now that you still play him for a reason you know when The Crushers won last week they had a less
Than 1% chance on the analytics after seven holes of the final round l l started off at less than five they went to less than one so analytics are one thing you perform is the other but right now Paul Casey and brenon grace are going to be in the final group wow well
You know what let’s actually look back at the crusher Sunday and Jetta certainly looked like a Stingers team Victory but that was before Bryson to shampo and his Crushers mounted the League’s most impressive come from behind win Stinger GC have been competitive from the word go and it’s been plain
Sailing so far in Saudi Arabia we’re so far behind The Stingers they were playing Great Golf absolutely magnificent from Dean he looked up there and I think all four of The Stingers were in the top 10 they appear unable so no no thoughts about winning last week not at all
Stingers have extended their overnight lead of seven to a commanding nine over Legion 13 I don’t want to say we were out of it but we were so far behind as a team I think we played maybe a little bit more free the crushes tie for third place now
We’re like oh wow we’re actually catching up and we just kept playing good the crushes a 28 under Legion 13 a 28 under okay then this is happening they 12 on the par today sting of the leaders by five and then when I looked
Up the next time I saw Bryon up at 6 or 7 I’m like oh here he goes again the Gap is now one I was just thinking just don’t leave it short don’t leave it short and then I hit and I’m like I left

How do they do this how does a team do something like this you know when you listen to those guys all talented extremely talented world class players when you listen to their comments you you get the sense of something that you see in other team sports but you’ve
Never ever seen before in golf momentum momentum momentum and they’re watching the leaderboard they’re not playing together they’re all over the golf course they’re watching and they’re seeing that momentum and The Stingers were seeing it too The Stingers were struggling every single guy on team singer was out there trying to do

Resilient it seems like they’re strongest when our back is against the wall I mean Paul Casey is just he is a bulldog totally um Charles how is solid doesn’t have a weakness in his game and all it takes is a couple of putts to drop and he’s a different player out

Here David isn’t I have nothing yeah yeah the players almost to a man say that they love this golf course that it’s a very special place what makes it so special it’s like a Botanical Garden that somebody put a golf course in there are 100y old trees here that line the
Fairways they’re so tall I mean and there’s all kinds of options you know off the tea especially you know we’re going to not going to see a whole lot of drivers I think you know the that you can run out of Fairway you can drive it
Over the corner if you want you can lay it upsh you know it’s just it’s a real thinker Golf Course we’ve got so many big names and it’s so tough to win a live golf event but W cona has won two of the last three does this golf course suit him
Well the way he’s playing any golf course suits him that’s for sure and he’s only 25 years old uh we got to remember that I think we’re seeing the rise of a really really special player and yes the way he drove the ball last week um you know it wouldn’t surprise me
