The golf club that captures 12,000 data points from every single golf swing which they can then analyze using their AI technology and their algorithm to recommend to you the perfect Wilson golf club in just five golf shots and only 10 minutes of your time yes you heard that

Correctly five golf shots 10 minutes of your time to find out the perfect Wilson golf club for you now a couple of weeks ago I had a really exciting opportunity to spend some time with Daniel at Wilson golf who took me through the Wilson fit AI process so we could show you guys

Just how it works and how AI technology is the future of golf club custom fittings and you’ll also see what the recommended Wilson irons were for me now just before we head down to the driving range I just want to say thank you to Max to Daniel and to Lauren at Wilson go

For facilitating the session and to silir for hosting us on the day this is a really cool video and I’d really be Keen to hear what you think about in the comments down below right let’s get down to the driving range and show you just how quick and good this process really Is so we’ve just arrived at Silver we’re with Daniel from Wilson and we’re going to start the fit AI process and just show you how quick this process is so Daniel what do we start by doing um so very straightforward uh start fitting add new golfer and then we’ll pop your

What’s the surname O’Neal spell it however you like and then pop weekend torros gmail.com Co one word so at the beginning it’s just capturing that basic profile information on me I guess it gives you the information to contact me etc etc after that yeah the um the first update we

Have to update the phone number it’s stuck on the American um zip code um and then we have to agree to terms and conditions and privacies very very kind of straightforward um kind of registration y once the details go in it’s then going to go through the prefitting

Questionnaire so I’m a lefty for left-handed describe your experience level playing golf so this ranges from never play down to play professionally I would guess I’m either the third or the fourth one I definitely play frequently in keep score competitively at Club level but I’m a handicap golfer so let’s

Go competitively cuz you’re playing in competitions then what a handicap currently 11.4 perfect uh future goals for the game so this ranges from complete around all the way down to break 75 so I would say break 80 that’s always my goal and 80 is go for I break 80 once in a blue

Moon that’s the goal to do it more frequently perfect um what’s the most important F irons distance and forgiveness or control distance and forgiveness definitely I would like to say the bottom but I definitely need as much help as I can get and then what is

Your desired Iron Head shape um are you looking for a powerful head size with generous offset or compact head size with minimal offset again I would like to say the bottom but I think the top is more appropriate for me how tall 511 and then I have got the wrist of

Floor ruler to to do that quickly so let’s go the bands on these are quite generous but I could say you’re 35 uh grip size you currently play I play an undersiz I got very small hands I wear a very small glove so I wear undersiz grip I can play both standard

Or undersiz but I prefer under size so with the app um the way the grip size works is that just pulls through at the end so whatever you put in is what it recommends and that will just dictate what grips it show to you available when

We go through to the final stage of completing the fit in so press next start fit it’s going to count us in have you had a warmup do you want a couple to warm up with I wouldn’t mind we can edit them out if that’s what I do is I hit

Paws on the on the fit app so that’s now paused we can get as many shots as we want now they won’t track and then when you’re ready to go we we’ll unpause it and we’ll carry on we’ve got the green the green circle on the middle of the app so we’re good

To go perfect and this is the bit where we just hit five shots to try and capture all that data my understanding Dan is is this sensor we’ve got on the top of the club is the bit that’s capturing all that data that you’ll be

Able to see in a yeah yeah when we when when we hit the five and we select the shots we’re going to use we’ll um we it kind of give you a little overview of what’s the sensor doing and what data it’s capturing it’s the worst one yet it

Happened to be the first one we used standard shot shape for me a little pull down the right hand side that’s better straighter much straighter is this um is this a particular iron that you use for the fitting down it just an iron Built For This purp so we

We control it we call it our control Club okay uh essentially what it is um is a players distance iron so yeah so similar to that D of power Forge kind of category middle of the road correct yeah it’s missing essentially it’s missing the power holes underneath but it’s uh

It’s very similar to that so we find that if people quite like hitting that in a in a fit it’s normally quite a good place to start so we just need one more okay I can’t believe how quick this is we’re like nearly there at the point of getting a

Recommendation what a good one to finish on as well yeah really good one it’s as good as I can hit it I think by the first one Dan no problem so uh fit and complete and it’s going to pull up we’ve called it Peak hands speed but essentially it’s it’s the sensor speed

Okay yeah cuz obviously it’s in the butt end of the grip so it’s obviously a lot different to the number that you’d see on your Club head speed y um so we’ll select all five just to show you um the differences between the two press done it’s the app now working hit view

Recommendation so the first page we come to is a data screen so um I give you a kind of bit of an overview on what this is we feel that or I feel like for a lot of the fittings that I do there’s probably a bit too much data in this to

Show the consumer but it’s always good to know what the app what to say what the the apps work working out from the information it’s Gathering From the sensor and my understanding Dan sorry to cut across you there is what happens with the fitter is the idea is you’ve

Got as much data as you can access you then choose what you share with me as the consumer based on what how geeky I am how much I’m interestedly and how much how much use it’s going to be to as well sometimes you might find it no use

At all so um so across the top we’ve got the five swings so as we as we select through those the numbers will they will change to show that it’s not just one showing um the first graph is accelerometer which measures Peak acceleration the golf swing that Spike being that

The second one is a gyroscope so the um you can just about see on here there’s three colored lines there an orange line which is your hand path going back there’s a blue line in there which is your wrist hinge and there’s a green line which is your Club face closure

Rate okay so it’s measuring at different points of the golf swing there from from uh the start to halfway back to impact to the follow through of that that’s kind of how that graph is tracking there and then the bits of information that we’ve used from blast so blast um it’s

Their sensor we’ve just used it um it captures 12,000 points in the golf swing um we’ve selected only a few to show to the fitter of what is going to be best used to help them make a recommendation um to try and improve your golf um so

The first one sha loading so that’s measuring the peak acceleration G’s which is that that first graph and then the max rotation in degrees per second um the wrist hinge is is measured as a percentage so for the back swing 0% is at the bottom of the Swing 100% is the

Top of the back swing so what this is saying is 69% of the way back and just after halfway that’s where you’re applying the most amount of wrist hinge yeah it’s the opposite on the way down so zero the top of the back swing 100% is impact so it’s unloading 68% of the

Way back down again these numbers aren’t necessarily right or wrong it’s just what it is just my swing it’s not to say yeah exactly that it’s not to say that you need to be this or you need to be that it’s just analyzing what you are um

Your Club face closure rate is on the same scale as that down swing unhinged so 62% of the way down is where your CL face starts closing down and then also the rate in degrees per second that it closes down and then the final one which is probably the most easiest one to

Understand is the timing it times the back swing the down swing add those together for a total swing time and then it translate that into a tempo as well so I’m nearly a 3 to one in terms of how long I take on my back swing to my down

Swing exactly that exactly that um so if we press next now it should take us through to so it’s coming out for you based on those five swings there Dino Power uh KBS Max ultral light in regular it will give give us a graphite option

If um if we do it in that Flex um it’s saying uh standard length two degrees uprise in that unders size grip that we selected at the start and just a little basic thing this is like again you know on what club it was going to come up

With for me I play my IR two degrees up so already we’re pretty we’re in the ballp which is good but the idea behind this and the way we’ve kind of trained our Fitters to to do it is that at this point here is this is when the phone

Goes down you build the recommendation you then start you begin your fitting from there to try and make sure that all of those bits that are recommended are performance wise good as well cuz that’s obviously most important when you’re on the golf golf course you want to make

Sure your your clubs are performing don’t you so absolutely I think that’s one of the key things I think I probably want to get across in the video that we’re not trying to say this technology is trying to replace the job of a fitter

I think the idea of it is you’ve got me to the point where a club that’s probably the right club for me is in my hands now within 10 minutes it probably feels like we’ve been here and now we’re spending the rest of the hour that we’ve got together dialing that in optimizing

It maybe just tweaking a little bit it’s not saying that’s definitely 100% going to be what I end up with right away just saying this is a great starting point for you rather than that being 40 minutes into the fitting and then you’re rushing to have those conversations

Around combo sets and grips at the end because you run out of time right exactly that yeah I mean we’ve been doing this for just under 10 minutes and we’re already at a pretty good starting point and now like you say we’d go and check it all and then once we’re happy

With it then we’d then progress with the next few stages on the app to to finish it off and and get the order placed brilliant let let’s assume that we’ve done the testing this is the right setup for you the right specs you built the club I’ve hit the shots we feel

Confident it we’re happy I’m happy you’re happy we’re all good to go so we press next on that it’s then going to pull you up a set configuration page that’s all just picking how what clubs you want in the bag so we’ll go five to

Pitching W one thing I say is I play a five hybrid because I don’t get a lot of launch so I normally start my hands at a six like to go up to a gap wedge normally in the set and then I start to go specialist wedges from there I always

Find having a set gap wedge is better for me than a specialist wedge from my no problem like I say it will let you tick and untick whichever these if we don’t offer it it won’t let you tick it so for example on this here we can’t

Have a two or three on in Dino Power because we don’t do one so it’s you’re not able to tick that um when we go to this page here now um the grip selection is only going to show those grips that we offer in that size that you selected

So for example you selected undersiz um so we’ve only got three options there we’ve got Golf Pride uh we’ve got lamin uh to uh lamin 360 uh and then the Wilson Staff uh ladies uh wind grip there so and I think that’s because i’ I have a small hand so I’ve picked

Undersiz grips I nor play them undiz with a bit of extra tape on them so how many wraps are tape so we’ got the bit perfect bit bit to put that in as well so I have an extra wrap on whatever standard is so two wraps is it normally

And then I would play out of those I’d probably go for the crossline 3 so with the logo position doesn’t matter because it’s a 360 grip and then the final box we’ve got additional comment so let’s uh let’s put your name in the sharp and I

Know something that we do um so we’ll put that on there so that when that gets sent off that the the guys plac in the order will know to pop your name on the sh it’s quite quite straight forward there um so now we’re at the final build sheet so which just highlights

Everything that we’ve just done a final check of you as you like um and then this is where at the point now we press save and what happens here is it will save um a spec sheet locally on the phone that we’ve used so on my phone

Here uh it will send an email to my email account so I’ll be able to place that order for you and then finally the most kind of the most important bit really is that spec gets uploaded into the AI algorithm so it relearns your fitting so what we might find is

Obviously it’s a bit of a demo today we haven’t made too many changes but you might find that if you do make a lot of changes if you use this again couple of months down the line that it’s it’s changed the recommendation based on all those fits that are uploaded and that’s

Happening globally around the world at the minute so um it’s it’s it’s quite powerful already it’s like say the starting point was pretty accurate it’s only going to get more accurate it’s not going to get less accurate so um and I think for me like you know going back to

Those questions at the beginning I’m sure if I’d answered a couple of those questions differently whether it recommended dino power or Dino Power Forge I’m probably that go for that is like I’d want to I’d probably want to play the forge but I know the dino power probably would the ultimate forgiveness

Club for me that kind of obviously if we were doing you know going through the full way with the full fitting kit that we had we would normally have is I would be testing dino power for I’d be testing the heads that you want to play against

You know performance because the old you know you’ve got to look down at them they’re your clubs I just got to try and make them work so yeah yeah no really good is there anything else that you think is worth us telling to the viewers Daniel at all you think that’s enough

For today that’s that’s pretty much the the fit from start to finish on how to use Wilson fit AI like say the um it’s it’s it’s quite a powerful tool yeah it’s only going to get more powerful so if you haven’t tried it I you know very

Recommend going to get tried for it and again I have to look at how long the video is but I think we’ve been here Daniel 15 minutes you’ve captured all my profile data I’ve hit my swings it’s told me things that I was surprised it’s got right about like my upright it’s

Given me a recommendation that I know is a great starting point for you and I based on the answers I’ve given and we’ have got to a point whereby with that extra time we’d have had in the fit we’ have built the club we’ have dialed it

All in come to the right option fed that back into the algorithm so the next goal for a long would have got some exactly and if we’ve got more time to go and test some wedges or a hybrid as well then we’ve got you know we’ve got that

Time as well so brilliant thank you so much hopefully guys you’ve seen that’s really really interesting like I said I do really think you Ai and golf clubs we’ve heard it a lot of being used by the manufacturers Wilson included and how they used it to help them build and

Make new golf clubs for us we’re now at the point where it’s coming into helping us with our custom fitting process Wilson are right at the Forefront of that leading the industry in in producing this technology and hopefully it’s something you find really really exciting we’ll be hopefully looking
